I have been a long term customer since Rick owned this shop. He was awesome and always gave fair price without trying to rip customer off. I have returned to this shop under new ownership to fix ABS lights on my 2016 vw Jetta. After 4 days I got my estimate 2 front wheel bearing assembly hubs and speed sensor for a total of 2700. Those con artists priced 2 Napa front wheel bearing hubs for 800. You can get those from Napa website from 150. What a con artists they are. I feel sorry for their customers and no longer will bring my business to this shop.

After being told they would help and send MAPFRE the Tow bill nothing happened. I got an attorney to help fix my problem with the accident I was involved in, and that wasn t even my fault. So what did these freaking lowlifes do? They Called Capital One and told them my car was left there when in fact their tow truck driver dropped it off there and never once asked me where to drop it off. I was in the Emergency room with my three daughters and my newborn son. We were in a 3 car accident and I was the middle car. Why to freaking go. Trash

These guys were top notch and were very willing to make accommodations for me. My car was rejected by some other local mechanics due to its age and obscurity, but I wasn t met with any complaints or excuses. On top of that, it appears as though they have plenty of capacity to get you in in a reasonable timeframe. Highly recommended!

Working with these people was a breath of fresh air. This was our first visit there to get our Nissan fixed. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it in the most professional way that I have ever seen over my 60 years of owning cars. Dealing with Pete and Joe was a very rewarding experience. I will say the same thing I said to Joe Peek at the shop. I should have come to them first. They were recommended by my warranty company and I did not even realize it. After bringing my car to three, yes three different shops to have a power transfer unit replaced in my transmission, Capitaland Auto came in and fixed my car when nobody else would. I even took my car to a dealership and received nothing but a run-around for months when they tried to find the part. This was not the case with Capitaland. The listened to my issues, tested my car, found the necessary parts and ordered them, were extremely honest and gave me a fair appraisal of what needed to be done. They fixed my car and were nothing short of helpful, honest and professional. I wont waste my time taking my car anywhere else ever again. Thank you for your help!

sorry for the two stars but brought my2008 hyundai in for yearly oil change and inspection,it failed cause of pads and roters worn out especially front. i had complete brake jobon sept 2021 cost $1,597. had 70,716miles on it. now two years later and with75,034 miles they said warranty only good fof 12,000 miles or 12months witchever comes first.i still have 7,682miles left on warranty but time ran out. i understand that.they said it was from not driveing enough they rust.allthough i do drive everyday and in winter i can see and hear them if rusty.couldnt be napas poor quailty chinese rotors uld it? anyway cost me another $583.00 two pass inspection. went home and next dat called them after checking my reciepts .glen said he would see what he could do for me and said i got to go and hung up...never called back. im sorry i cant afford brakejob every4000miles.i belive rick would have done something at least.oh buy the way i was a loyal customer there for 8 years and spent over $6000 on repairs. not going back there.

Awful communication Brought car there and two times no one knew car was dropped off (Pete) Also installed HVAC heater & Pete originally quoted 269 all in & I ended up paying 449. Not only not fixed but car was left in lot all day without a mechanic even looking at it

On the evening of Nov. 28 (Tuesday), driving down to NYC from Montreal our Chrysler Town and Country suddenly started making some pretty scary noises and the steering wheel felt weird. Since it was well beyond the ordinary business hours and it started to snow we did not what to do. All mechanic shops we could find online were closed. We ended up at Capitaland because we saw that at least their towing service was open. We found Pete behind the counter. He explained to us that they were closed but kindly had a look at the issue anyway. He found the power steering problem right away and filled up the (bone dry) oil reservoir fixing everything. I offered (and insisted) to pay but he was so nice and understanding of the situation that he politely refused. What a gentleman! Thank you very much, Pete!!! Gino F. - Montreal, QC

Took my truck here for a second opinion after a catastrophic issue with my truck. Joe provided expert advice on the path forward and had the job done quickly! Truck runs like a dream now and I m glad I brought it to Capitaland.

On the recommendation of a friend (I am from out of town), I had my car towed to CLand Auto after it died. CLand gets points for getting me in right away and replacing my alternator and belt (though it was expensive - labor costs of $312.90 for 2.1 hours). The problem was that when they called to tell me the alternator was done, they also told me that I needed urgent brake work that would cost over $500. I declined, drove home and took it to my mechanic. The drive was awful, with lots of vibrating, clunking, etc. every time I braked, problems I did NOT have when before going to CLand. After my mechanic looked at the brakes, he told me that the brakes pads were good (70% left) and everything else was up to spec. The only problem was that one of the two screws securing a caliper was missing, causing it to be misaligned. He replaced the screw and all the problems disappeared. I dont know what the urgent brake work entailed, but I know I do not recommend CLand to anyone.

I would never bring my car there again I paid to get my car fixed paid almost 600 for loose bolt on motor mount an hose end up broke down that night. Because they clamp down to tight on the plastic T split blew apart.

Highly recommend this place for your auto repair needs. While my car was at this location, Joe and the staff were extremely receptive and communicative throughout the process of repair and diagnosis measures. Kept my car safe, secure, and in good hands. 5/5!

I used to love this place. Last 2 oil changes the tech was too lazy to wipe the oil off the frame and reset my oil gauge. I wound up with multiple oil spots on my driveway. Today was the last straw. After being told that a part I needed was ordered and arrived, I scheduled an appointment for 8am this morning. My truck was taken into the bay and after about 15 minutes I saw it being removed. I thought I was all done,only to be told that they neglected to order the complete part and the rest of the part would arrive in .5 hrs. 45 minutes later,I told Josh I had to leave as I had a 10am appointment. He apologized and said hed have the tech bring my truck up because they hadnt even started work on it. After sitting there for over 1.5 hrs, I left, never to return!

I can speak highly enough of this place. They are extremely busy and for good reason. I had a third party warranty issue for over a year and these gentlemen went out of their way to ensure that I got my car back in the best condition. The third party put up a fight about an engine replacement and the guys at Capitaland did an incredible job dealing with the lack of transparency and communication from the warranty company. When it came time to install my engine, it was done correctly and everything works. Their professionalism is top notch.

Since I brought my vehicle here. Its been one thing after another. Thousands and thousands of dollars worth of work. Most recently I found out they sent an invoice to my warranty company and were paid on work on my vehicle that they never did. And then blamed me for not being able to get a hold of me. This created a lot issues for me, and put my life on hold. Their response to the situation was to yell and blame me for the problem, when they should have been thanking me for bringing them as much business as I did. If theyre just apologize and took responsibility for their mistake, I would have followed through with the $1,500 worth of work they had to be done. But now Ill be taking my business elsewhere and they will be returning the money. I would not recommend going here unless you plan on continuing to go over and over again... At a high price. Lastly, they always answer the phone with an attitude as if Im bothering them. I cant stand that feeling. When did being the customer mean anything?

I was in Albany for my car broke down it cranked but wouldn t start, I called triple AAA to come check the battery after testing they said the battery was fine. I google for the best shop in town and decided to tow my car to capitals d after reading the reviews. I told them about my situation I m in the academy for I m from I think the fuel pump went out. It took them a week to get back to me. After I kept calling then they confirmed the fuel pump went they overcharged me for the pump even the dealer don t sell it for that much. He knew I really needed the car he bumped the price on me I was already in a bad situation I just paid to get my car back I got fooled by the reviews.

Weve been bringing our cars to Capitaland Auto for several years. They do great work for a reasonable fee. Our most recent repair was for a leak in the gas tank and line. Rick found a used part for less money, and had a hard time doing so, yet didnt charge us extra. They are very reputable and I recommend them strongly.

My family and I have been having our autos serviced at Capitaland for over 20 years. I personally prefer to keep a car on the road as long as it is safe and reliable. One of my cars had 10 years on it when I started using Capitaland, my wifes car had 5 years on it. Kept both cars on the road for another 10 years. Next car was 17 years old before I gave it to my granddaughter. For me, the key to retention is to start with a good car, follow the service manual and have good reliable mechanic to service the car. Capitaland has great mechanics and have provided services from simple to complex, inexpensive to expensive. I dont know if their prices are high or low, all I know for sure is that they are reliable.

People answering phones couldnt be bothered to help me. Rude jerkish attitude.

On August 20 2017, I called to Capitaland to pick up my truck 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, because it had an electrical problem, after 15 hours of work, Rick told me the electrical problem was located and isolated, but the engine with 18,000 miles blew off. I dont understand why a brand new engine that was serviced two days before exploded, also in the same day when the car was taken to Capitaland in the morning another shop on New York City checked the engine oil, replaced the transmission oil and they told me everything is good in the car. When I got my bill, the VIN on it didnt belong to my vehicle, it belonged to a Ford vehicle. The explanation that i got from the owner was: as It is a flooded vehicle, that can happen anytime. I did consult many other engine experts and every single one agree that there are just two causes of that type of damaged: 1. By mistake someone drained the motor oil, didnt replaced it and the vehicle was cranked on. 2. the vehicle was accelerated up to the highest level for more than two minutes. Capitaland had no cover the damage caused to my truck yet and I still fighting to get paid. Hector F Gallego

Just had brake work and a new battery installed. The staff are courtesy conscience and prompt about following up contacting people regarding the status of the repairs. Reasonably priced with no extras being pushed on you that you dont need. Will see them again soon...tires and oil changes are next on my list. Thanks!

Scratched the hood & windshield of my car then completely denied it even though we both knew they were guilty... Also beware their taxis drive like they want to run you off the road. Had high hopes for this business but I was disappointed and won t be returning.

I travel to the Albany area often to see family and have used the repair shop on more than one occasion. While there I learned the owner does a radio show to answer repair questions free of charge on Saturday mornings. I called in once with a question about extended warranty repair coverage and got good info. When my car breaks down I want a straight answer, and a fair price. Thats what Ive gotten at Capitaland. I believe the owner is the most knowledgable mechanic I have ever met. Joe

A couple weeks back AAA towed my 1997 Ford Ranger in due to inability to drive in any gear. I told Ricky I need diagnosis on my manual transmission clutch issues. Based on our phone conversation (before his inspection of vehicle) he said it was probably clutch kit and slave that need replacement and it would be $1000. Thats the top price limit range for this job, but its Colonie. I told him let me know for sure what is needed. A quality mechanic uses viewing ports and mechanical testing to diagnose clutch issues. Ricky told me he had to remove the crossmember and drop the transmission to diagnose it. I didnt know better, being a prior customer, I agreed. He had to cut transmission crossmember bolts due to rust. Then he tried to sell me a replacement for about $250, because you cant buy the bushings seperately. Well, I did buy them seperately, along with sleeves for the bolts for less than $30. A new replacement for this crossmember ranges from $60-$150 elsewhere. In fact, parts Ricky will sell you cost 3 times what you can buy yourself. Ricky said I could provide my own crossmember, but insists on using his other overpriced parts for the warranty. Well the high quality parts I just bought myself come with their own warranty. After diagnosis, Ricky quoted my bill at about $1400. Crossmember aside, this is well over $1000. Ricky charges about $95 hourly labor and booked himself 7 hours for this job. Ive seen amatures do this job in the driveway tires on ground in less than 2 hours. If you think I believe his mechanic spends entire shift doing 1 clutch and slave replacement, theres a tower in France Id like to sell you. Someone should investigate Capitaland hours charged in labor vs. hours paid to employees. I tell Ricky this is too expensive, and his responce is that Im stuck there now, while his mechanic mouthed off at me about how he gets paid so much for his expertise. They cut my crossmember out (I oked that), pulled shifter, dropped transmission, pulled starter, pulled clutch. I asked for diagnoses, not gave permission to start the job. He charged me 3.5 hours at $377 after tax to release my Ranger so I could tow home to work on her myself. They laughed at me and told me I should go live in communist China. I cant make this up people. I got my parts delivered for less than $150 and started the work to find they didnt even finish half the job (I was charged for) because the pilot bearing and slave cylinder are still in. Thats got to be worth at least $80 by their standards. Capitaland is an average garage with a shiny veneer. Dont let Rickys smile or popularity fool you. Ive been a customer over the years. Last time I had them inspect a vehicle it took 3 days of me coming around because their inspection printing machine was having issues. Then this. Capitaland isnt what it used to be. I will not be returning. Ricky will probably respond with some Im sorry you feel that way and have some excusing words. Maybe he will say something else rude to me here or try to make this look my fault. Everything I have written is true. I sure hope all my bolts are here so theres nothing else to mention...

Ive been to both the body shop and the mechanics for these guys in the past month. They were the most helpful mechanics Ive ever been to. I received phone calls keeping me up to date, they were fast, they answered all of my questions and then some. They were just all around pleasant to deal with.

I have been a patron of Capitaland autos for almost 3 years now, since Ive moved into the area. The work on my vehicle has always been done in a fair amount of the time and the cost is reasonable. I have also used the towing service and so has my friends because I have told them that the companys driver is quick and very friendly. I have seen the Capitaland tow truck out running all hours of the day. The 24 hour towing is extremely convenient and the owner and his employees have a wonderful business. I will continue to use this service and recommend to everyone who needs experts in this field!

Capitaland auto is the absolute best shop I have ever brought my vehicle problems to. I had brought my car to 3 different garages, and none of them could fix it, when I brought my car to CapitaLand, Rick who is by far the best mechanic in the area. He knew what was wrong right away, not only was it great service, but I had my vehicle towed to the shop from my house and they offered to give me a ride, the tow truck driver was very polite and I couldnt have asked for a better experience!

I sound like a commercial...but I have a personal fleet of vehicles and I have taken every one of them to them for well over 10 years. These guys can PULL ENGINES if needed...they can do everything A-Z. Even work on TRUCKS! They are not typically configured for BOATS but they LOVE BOATS too!

Rick and the guys found the true problem and for half of the price that i was quoted from the other shop!! As always at Capitaland auto service they strive for Customer satisfaction & willing to go that extra mile to make it happend. The team is very Experience with all make & models. They are willing to do anything & every thing the dealer dose without the high price . They offer anything from small repairs to major repairs . The team is very friendly ,fast and reliable. They also offer towing 24 hours 7 days a week including holidays . The respond time for the tow truck is usually within a half an hour or under depending on traffic or how busy they are. I wouldnt trust any one els with my vehicle unless it these guys I highly recommend them if you want a hassle free repair or tow , everything is straight forward, and they are willing to tell you want needs to be done & what can wait with your vehicle .

The service I received from them was greater than anything I could ever expect. My car has been making this winning noise lately so I went. Rick rode on road with me twice to diagnose what the problem might be. Although it didnt sound too much a big deal, they inspected my car thoroughly and concluded that my car is alright. They spend plenty of time on my case but didnt charge me for anything. I appreciate their professional help very much and will definitely go back again.

Rick is amazing! We have an elderly Suburu Outback that we are just trying to get another year out of. He always gives us all the options available and keeps in mind cost. While his employee was picking up my daughter and I to get our car after fixing it most recently he was test driving it and it started smoking. It was a simple fix but it needed to stay another day. We are a one car family with a toddler so not having the car can be difficult. Knowing this he lent us his shuttle car overnight! Amazing service!

I own an auto repair shop in Denver, Colorado that has been in business for 35 years. Last month, my son was driving on the Northway from college towards the Albany Airport to catch a flight to a job interview. His car broke down 20 miles from the Airport. The tow truck driver gave him a ride to the airport and dropped the car off at Capitaland. Within a day Rick determined that the engine in his car was not repairable and recommended that we forgo the expense of replacing it. They also helped arrange a sale of the car to a salvage company. Capitaland went over and above to help, and their customer service is great, and their charges were reasonable. I would recommend Capitaland to anyone needing car repair. Thanks!

Living in Staten Island, my son was up in Albany near his college and had an issue which caused all the transmission fluid to leak out. Unable to drive any further, he called me and I did some quick research on the web and found Capitaland by chance. After reading the online reviews I was confident in the decision to have the car towed to the capable hands of Rick and Al. What an excellent choice I made. Rick and Al are the most professional and honest people I have met. Being 200 miles away from them, I was expecting the worst, but found out the issue was with the radiator and not a transmission failure as I was expecting based on what my son experienced. These guys could have easily tried to sell me on needing a new transmission but were super honest and the price was much better than I had expected. Thank you Rick! If I can get your AM radio station over the internet Ill be sure to tune in on Saturday mornings. I would recommend this shop to anyone I know.

Took my 2012 Mercedes to CapitaLand for complete oil change service and NYS inspection, the guys did an outstanding job! And the best part it cost me half of what I would have paid at the dealer. CapitaLand specializes in Foreign cars as well as domestic....no need to go to the dealer and pay all that money! Thank you Rick!
