Pep Boys in Albany

I recently visited Pep Boys for new tires and an inspection. The inspection revealed that my vehicle needed front brakes and rotors. I was impressed with Toms exceptional customer service at the front desk - he was friendly, non-pushy, and provided a detailed estimate for the repairs. With no pressure to make a decision on the spot, I appreciated the transparency and flexibility. After comparing prices, I was shocked to find that Pep Boys quote was significantly lower than what my dealership had previously charged me.( had my back brakes and rotors done a few months ago) Ill definitely be returning to Pep Boys for my future automotive needs.

Took them TWO HOURS to put on a set of tires! I waited an hour and a half before they even pulled my car in the garage! This is simply a case of horrible management, period. Update: I went back a few months later because one of the tires was making noise. They were very quick, thorough, and didnt charge me anything. So, just expect to wait a bit if theyre busy. Advice to Pep Boys: if youre busy, just mention to your customer that youre busy. Better to manage expectations.

Best price on 4 new Cooper tires for my 2023 Honda CRV. The vehicle was ready close to the time promised.

I needed new tires in order to pass inspection. I was shown the various tires and price points and made my selection. When I picked up my car, I was told one of my tires was practically brand new, so they bagged it and put it in my car. I was so thankful that they did that! Now I have a good replacement tire for my next flat! The staff was very nice and helpful!

Gave me discounts to help knock the price down so I can get the work needed on my car when I explained my situation was very caring and kindhearted. I ve been coming here for years

Made my appointment online which was pretty simple. Upon arriving I explained my reason for my appointment. They took my vehicle right away and gave my brakes and tires a thorough inspection. I didnt need either to be replaced, just a small bulb in the front headlamp. I waited and my vehicle was ready in no time. I think I was there a little over an hour total. I paid my small bill for the bulb replacement and was on my way.

I have been here multiple times and have had really negative experiences. We had all 4 of our tires replaced and I kept having to go back to them due to low tire pressure light. To be specific, Roman should not be in any customer facing role. He is absolutely rude. When my wife went there and asked couple of questions, Roman said your husband doesn t know what he s talking about . Afterwards, when I went myself, because my wife told me she didn t feel comfortable being there because of Roman, I asked Roman why he thinks that we have had to come back consistently within one year of replacing our tires, figuring maybe we re doing something wrong, and Roman s answer was I don t have a magic ball . Just wow. That s why, the next time I had TPMS light come up, I went to Firestone. When I told them what had been going on for the past year with my Pep Boys tired, to my disbelief, the Firestone rep said Let me guess, you dealt with Roman , and I couldn t believe it. The Firestone rep said that Roman was let go from Firestone due to his behavior with customers. Just amazing. Do not get your tires replaced here, unless you want to keep going back.

Lead technician was very belligerent and unprofessional. Instead of assessing the real cause of my engine oil leak. Which turned out to be the ( Oil cooling unit) leak. He outright refused to work on my vehicle. Ive been an established customer for 6 years. Their more professional and friendly location, opposite home depot on central avenue, Albany NY. Took care of me no judgments, no Caping trying to be hard attitude.

Tom got me in quick on a Friday and got me 4 brand new tires installed before close of business! Tires have been great and Tom was great too!

We went in for an oil change. The Pep Boys staff were professional and courteous. They performed the oil change very quickly and even gave us a coupon to use. We would not hesitate to use Pep Boys for future service.

This specific location is the best Ive ever been to and wont go anywhere else anymore because of their repetitive Wins. Highly recommend for all your vehicle needs, from Inspections and Oil Changes to Brakes and Tires, and everything in between this is the store to go to! We cannot say enough good things about this repair shop! After a terrible experience at a car detailing place that left our car making a strange noise, we came here in a panic at 6 PM on a Saturday. Despite arriving so late with no appointment, they were incredibly kind and immediately fit us in to take a look at the issue. They diagnosed and fixed the problem (caused by the detailing place s undercarriage jets). They truly went out of their way to ensure we were safe to drive home, and their kindness turned what could have been a nightmare situation into something manageable. We are so grateful for their help. If you re looking for honest, reliable, and genuinely caring service, this is the place to go. Highly, highly recommend!

Purchased new tires at a great price at the Pep Boys in Colonie NY. Everyone there was professional and friendly. Spoke to one of the techs his name was Tom, real nice guy. Im always satisfied with the work at Peo Boys!

I brought 2 different vehicles here for tire issues and both vehicles now are off balance, brought both vehicles back in to get fixed and left with the same issue. Do NOT get your tires done or balanced here. I m still waiting to hear back from corporate.

Walked in to shop spoke with Tom the store mgr. He had an open spot for my truck at 3 pm. Truck went in for both front tires leaking air. Problem was resolved. Tom was busy, but still took the time to take care of the customers and me.

Did the alignment on my 09 Camry, the car was driving worse than before, take it back and was the same issue, car pulling to the right, each time the print out had a different reading of the alignment

I had 4 new tires installed and a wheel alignment done. This was my second time at this location. The salesman (Tom) that I scheduled my appointment with was very courteous and professional . It was easy to set it up and check in was very quick. It took approximately an hour and half to finish which is what I expected. The gentleman that checked me out was also courteous and professional. The only issue I have (this happened first time also) is that the technicians there dont seem to care about your interior. The grease that was mashed into my carpet and left on the door trim is unacceptable. I came back here hoping that the first time was a fluke, however it seems to be a pattern. Thank you to Tom and the other gentlemen that helped but 3 stars is the best I can give and that might be generous. 11/27/24 I keep coming back because Gene and Tom have been very good about making mistakes right however it is a pattern with the techs. They are extremely slow and dont follow customers requests. Im not sure if pep boys does block appointments but this is the second time that it has taken more than two hours just to do a tire swap. Three hours last time. Ive tried to be accommodating but I think Im going back to Adirondack tire after today. They will get you out in less than an hour and thats important with my schedule

Ive been to the PepBoys in Colonie NY several times for regular service (inspections, brake / suspension work, tires). The online appointment system is convenient and minimizes waiting. The work has always been thorough and I trust the technicians and managers for an honest assessment of what is necessary.

I had a scheduled appointment @ 9am for a removal of tires and mounting of four new tires I was greeted by Tim and Tom both were very courteous,Tim took me over to the tires to confirm they were mine, and they were. Tim completed my check in and then I asked when the work would be completed Tom told me 12. At 12 I returned and the work was completed as told. Thank you so much for a great experience!!!!!

Even with a multitude of appointments, I was prepared for a long wait but I was pleasantly surprised that a full oil change with tire rotation and vehicle inspection took about an hour.

The vehicle was brought in for NYS inspection, the inspection was failed because of tire condition I was told tire rot. Ive been working on cars for over 50 years, there were NO sidewall cracks or dry feeling rubber, the tread is 3/16 which is plenty, no exposed belts or cords, the only problem he could show me were cracks between the tread, which in my experience is not uncommon with a still decent tire. So, I told them I disagreed with their assessment and would get a second opinion. I went 1/4 mile down the road to Jiffy Lube, asked the inspector to look at the tires. He told me they they had wear, but shouldnt fail and werent in that bad shape. I paid another inspection fee, and the vehicle passed! Ive been a customer of yours for many years and many inspections from Pep Boys, but this experience has left me very disappointed! Not sure if I will go back??

ALL Excellent Employees! Very Nice, Friendly, Helpful, Knowledgeable & Thorough! My notification light advised to check low right rear pressure. I was near Pep Boys so i pulled in, they found a piece of sharp metal in the tire, replaced tire and off i went. They gave me a choice of options & pricing on tires. The one star not Yellow is due to the overwhelming rubber tire smell, hard seats, and not able to change the TV station while waiting. But the BEST Customer Service helped.!!!

Excellent staff , we broke down on the thruway and had to be towed here after hours . 8 am they took us right in and fixed a minor problem pretty quickly and didnt try to up sell us on anything . We were lucky they were here.

I went to PEP Boys store #200 and was helped by Tom. It was the last day of the month in which my car inspection expired and Tom went out of his way to work my car inspection in. He was pleasant and professional. I will definitely tell my friends about the service I received.

Has been a Pep Boys customer for years, and had great service experiences during those years. Got my rear brakes/rotor replaced. No problems so far. The price for service was excellent, half what the dealer asked for.

I havent been there in a while but it used to be a big store with accessories. Now its just a big tire warehouse and it tried to charge me $1,000 for four tires. No haggle or nothing so I wouldnt recommend it..

Pep Boys just replaced my Michelin Primacy MXM4s on my 2020 Avalon TRD! Tom Meyers and the Albany, NY team did a great job in giving me a very fair price, accommodation on schedule and great install. The car was just detailed and they kept it clean and were careful not to cause any marks on my wheels. Five stars!!!!

Absolutely horrible as they left a tool in my wheel which damaged my vehicle it was hung up on my spring and break hose which made the vehicle loose breaks and caliper to stick !

Got tired changed in my Tesla model 3. Service was super fast and went super smooth.

I wanted new tires and Tom talked me into buying Kumo k22 tires and let me tell you that theses tire are great. The ride is unbelievable smooth and the handle great. I will never go to MAVIS again. Pep boys are the place to go.

Went in for four new tires alignment had an appointment for 1:00 as I was waiting for the work to be done on my car one of the service desk attendance had his son come in do an oil change didnt have an appointment and was done before me then another person came in that obviously knew the other guy at the service desk so this person had a problem with their car mechanics stopped working on my car and attended this person fix their car then went back to my car. I was waiting almost 4 hours for four tires and alignment. After leaving when they were done with my car had a little bounce call them immediately came in the next day and they fix the problem so thats why theyre getting one star. Not happy with the service here my time is valuable just like anybody else is they should not have worked on other peoples cars that did not have an appointment. Got an update just went to get my tires balanced and rotated and one of the techs noticed that pep boys a tire on wrong got the outside of the tire on the inside. What stupidity I will never go to pep boys again they are horrible. Call about my previous problem and they ignore me and close the claim. This place is a rip-off and they do horrible service and they dont care about their customers. Stay away from pep boys

I have my tires replaced in a timely manner on Saturday. I have been using pep Boys since January 2024 when I had an emissions problem, and they were attentive to my needs and got the problem fixed quickly and in a cost-effective way. I plant to use Pep Boys for all future automotive needs.

I was way overdue for an engine air filter change and after checking out their website and services, decided to try the Colonie, NY Pep Boys. I made an appointment and arrived a bit early. They had me in and out before my original appointment time, with only the small cost of the filter- and that including being shown the old dirty filter and answering my questions about winter tires and their other services!!! They also did phone service tracking with updates and everyone I dealt with and saw, from the original phone call through todays service, were super nice, polite, neat and extremely helpful. Thank you so much to this Pepboys for working me in last minute on Saturday! I was in and out in less than half an hour, with peace of mind I could safely drive back home an hour away.

If I could give them no stars I would. I had given a friend of mine a ride to pick up her vehicle from there when I realized that not only did I have a nail/ screw in my tire but that my tire was flat, literally no psi in it at all. When I asked if they could squeeze me in bc I live an hour from that location the man behind the counter cut me off and was extremely nasty. He said and I quote I may be able to plug it by Sunday, that s how busy I am . I was kinda confused and truly had no idea what I was going to do b/c it was flat flat. They did fill up my tire with air but that s when the tech helping me realized I was losing air just as fast as they were putting it in and went to ask if they could do it quickly(super nice tech btw). The front desk man again came out very nasty and said I told you I could do it by Sunday! I will NEVER GO BACK THERE EVER AGAIN! If it wasn t so difficult to get my spare out I would have but it s truly a pain and wouldn t have been worth me doing it just to get to a different shop. Likely the mavis s in the area are amazing and took care of me I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The wait was 3+ hours wait even with an appointment, 4 tire replacement only. Numerous appointments made for the same time, I had to ask to be checked out. I had to ask after checking out for my used tires as I had to go back to the work area to retrieve them because they didnt put it in the back of my truck which was specified at check in.

Dont get me wrong. Great service. They rotated my tires. However the interior is all black. From the ceiling to the door to the steering wheel. All greasy and stained.

I went for an oil change and planned to wait. I needed a bit of maintenance work was unplanned, so I needed a ride to work. Prices were reasonable and I received a complimentary ride to my job and back to pick up my vehicle.

When I showed up for my original appointment for new tires, they told me that the tires were not in yet and that they tried to call me but my voicemail was not set up. However, I work in a remote area and tried to answer but the call dropped. I even tried to call back but when I did they said they were unsure what it was about and to call back again the next day. Ultimately they only attempted to call one time, and didn t try to let me know the tires were not there before my appointment that I drove an hour to get to. The next week, I had to call back myself to find out if the tires were there. No one called me when they came in to let me know. I make a new appointment, I sit and wait for the car to be finished with the new tires on, then I get the receipt and it says customer declined alignment when I was never asked if I wanted my alignment that was supposed to be INCLUDED with my installation of the new tires. Will not be coming back here. The Black Friday tire deal was great, everything else customer service wise was not.

Always great service and done quickly! Except this time when I was heading home from an oil change and my check engine light came one. I called and the gentleman on the phone said it wasn t something they did. He s been doing this for 18 years. Well I went back and he pulled a code and it came up as fuel mixture issue. He cleared the code. Popped the hood and low and behold they never put the oil fill cap back on which in turn made my vehicle throw the code. He started by checking the oil level, which was good cause I was only 2-3 miles away and went right back. Then said there no oil on your hood or anywhere else so you didn t lose any. I swiped my finger on my hood and there was oil on my hood. All he could do was apologize and say have a nice day. Not a, sorry for the attitude, it was completely our fault as we didn t do the proper job in completing it. I m just glad my truck threw a code. If it didn t I probably would have lost more oil and possibly had more issues. I have been bringing both our vehicles there for years and never had an issue until now. I will most likely go back as well, but will check all their work. I just didn t care for the attitude that was given to me when I knew it was something that they did to my vehicle. It was wrong and an apology was never given for that at all. I hope I don t encounter it again as hopefully he was a little humbled by being proven wrong.

PepBoys is a great place , I have all of my cars services done at 1795 central Ave., location. The guys are also upfront and honest with me about my vehicle and what it truly needs. It is great to walk through the door and know Im getting excellent care for my vehicles with great customer service from start to finish everytime!!! I absolutely love Gene the SERVICE MANAGER and Mike the service tech is one of the best mechanics I ever met.

Got me right in had my car lined up did a very good job everybody was very nice and polite. Very pleasant people to do business with I live 60 minutes away it is worth the time and drive to go down there. I had 4 tires replaced 2 months ago at Pep Boys and had the same experience thats why I keep going back. There is a lot of auto shops around my area Saratoga NY but I preferer to do my business with Pep Boys.

Gene was pleasant and accommodating, the service was good. Be aware that the website will offer you an appointment time but isnt aware if there has been a time overrun at the actual location, a time over run can be caused by things that are out of control of the employees like a late parts delivery. I cannot say how happy I am with the service I rec d based on my urgency for the repair. Was given a 12:00 noon completion time and was done and out at 11:05. AMAZING!!! Thank you all for your help, Gene, Tom and Luis!!!!

Had an appointment for 1pm for an oil change and tire rotation....got here at 12:50.... its 3:10pm and Im still waiting for my vehicle!!!!! Whats the point of appts if they arent going to be honored....

Efficient. Professional. Set up my appointment online, chose the tires the same way and just an overall positive experience at the Colonie, NY shop.

The original work was done to my satisfaction but while they were working on my tires they cross-threaded a stud and lug nut. They fixed them for free but it took a lot more time than I had planned on for the work I needed done.

Went in to have a noise looked at and or diagnosed, was serviced at the front desk by someone who claims to 25+ years of experience and was told flat out, I dont fix noises even after describing the problem in as simple of a way possible, I was told the same thing and was turned away and told to bring my 25 year old vehicle to the dealership and to shell out the money there

The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and took the time to listen.

Best price on mounting a tire by far! Seems like everywhere else wants to charge an arm and a leg for it, I thought I was gonna have to buy a machine and start charging a reasonable rate to embarass Firestone - no need, just go to Pep Boys instead, they must have had the same idea as me!

Good, quick service, honest staff. My go-to for servicing my vehicle. My only minor complaint is the waiting area, but that does not dissuade me from returning for service.
