We are the experts in transmission repair and complete car care - clutches, brakes, factory scheduled maintenance, electrical, check engine lights, radiators, overheating problems, a/c and more.
Paid $6500 to have a new transmission put into my Jeep. When I picked up my jeep, the check engine light was still on. When I asked them why the check engine light was on they said they went through my Jeep with a fine tooth comb and could not figure out why. I could not get my Jeep inspected the following month due to this. I brought it to Bob Mariano and dropped it off for the day and they gave me a rental to use until they figured out what the problem was. In less than an hour, they called me and told me that when my transmission was replaced the second battery in my Jeep was not hooked back up. I paid $150 for Bob Mariano to tell me that the mechanics at AAMCO forgot to plug in the second little battery in my Jeep! If you need your transmission, replaced, go to your dealership! I will never go back to AAMCO again. Bob Mariano was way more knowledgeable and helpful.
The customer service at this location sucks. The person who answers the phone is the rudest I have ever seen, and I have seen many rude people. He was yelling at me and hang up the calls. Even zero star is more for these guys. Worst place ever, don’t go here. You will regret.
We were heading home from a camping trip in Vermont when our car started having transmission trouble. Mike gave us nothing but honest service and then made sure we could get back on the road and home safely. I have nothing but praise for Mike and his crew at AAMCO there and I highly recommend them if you need any transmission service.
I have had 2 services that needed to be done recently. One was preventative maintenance which was completed quickly and professionally. The second was a pop up emergency maintenance and these got me right in and taken care of. While I'm in the area, these are the only guys that I'll bring my vehicle too. Very prompt and knowledgeable.
AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care is the place to go!! After dropping my 18 year old car off on a holiday weekend to get looked at after it’s been sitting for a year, it is all fixed perfectly drivable not even a week later. The service was excellent and the price ($0) was even better. Head over to AAMCO if you need your vehicle fixed, touched up, or even looked at, they won’t disappoint!
Visited store with a transmission issue. They kept the car for two days (they informed me they will need to keep it only for a day) and informed me that the transmission was beyond repair and that they can install a refurbished one for $2.300,00! I took my car as it was and went to a local mechanic. Transmission had a bad pressure switch and a TCM (Transmission Control Module) and the car was repaired after a few hours for under 1.000,00!
This man is a crook. I took my car here with a transmission that would occasionally slip. Dangerous, but my car still ran. Took him a month to replace it, get back to my city and within four days my car breaks down completely. Got a second opinion, he’d given me a faulty transmission. We talked to him, he seemed reasonable and agreed to finish the repairs at no additional cost. After two months of waiting I had lost my job, my housing, and failed out of college because I didn’t have reliable transportation. Just wanted a refund for his poor services which he refused unless we let him keep the car with the intention of repairing and reselling, his words. At that point I had no choice but to agree and used the money to get a plane ticket so I could start migrant work. It is almost 6 months later and I still haven’t recovered. Do not take your car here he will swindle you and insult you to your face. Me and my girlfriend at the time, a law student, looked to pursue legal action but he used a number of loopholes to protect himself
This shop took my boyfriends car to do a free diagnosis, kept his car for 8 days! They told him his transmission mounts were rotted out and needed to be replaced, he paid nearly $700 to have them replaced , they kept it for another 4 days… they damaged his whole fender and scratched his driver side door and denied that they did it. . He threatened to file a claim about it and they said it must have been hit in the parking lot… they agreed to fix it finally. But when he drove his car home, the original mounts were given back to him, they were perfectly intact not at all rotted. So they charged him $700 to fix something that wasn’t broken and now his car shakes violently. This shop held his car for 12 days just to damage his car and make it run worse than before AND damaged the body too. These people are unprofessional and liars. It’s a shop full of sheisty old men who can’t do their jobs but still want to take your money. Use them at your own risk.
Great service very knowledgeable technicians
They know their transmissions and provide excellent service in a prompt and professional manner.
They replaced my transmission, through warranty work. They checked in with me to make sure everything was working well a month later. I cant say anything bad about the.. they even clean the garbage out the car before giving it back to me! > JoeyG [Albany office] Chevy Equinox
They are good people and provide excellent services. They did a fantastic job on my vehicle.
Great job good price. Excellent service
Delightful experience. Everyone was polite. Vinny saved me a ton of money. Thank you guy wish I went to you guys sooner.
These gentlemen treated me with kindness and respect. And they fixed my car!
Excellent customer service. Experts in their field. Replaced my transmission and were very fair, honest and completed all work on time.
Great service
DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!! They will add more issues to your car instead of fixing it! They only want your money! Very unprofessional & uneducated workers you will regret coming here!
There s no 0 star option, I checked. They will take your money, not fix your car, and go through it to see what they can steal. Go literally anywhere else for anything you need.
The problems here are obviously chronic. Early 90s, my now-wife brought her 84 VW GTi here for a diagnosis: It needs a new transmission: $1,700. She declined. I looked at it a couple months later, after we had started dating: needed new linkage, about $10 at AutoZone. Fixed it myself in an hour. They just want your money.
They are good transmission place but some experience its good to make sure the parts that they are put in your car are new not rebuilt if you want new make sure you check the part you want to see the old part to secure yourself thats just me saying now.
Very good people, they did very good job on my car. I put a new differential, drive shaft and alternator, would definitely recommend to a friend for any sort of problem.
My experience was excellent they done a great job and They done it fast I would highly recommend them
Great
Took care of my sons car Transmission, and serviced my 2010 Camaro friendly, good people.
We were on a six hours road trip when our transmission cooler gave up. AAMCO took us right in, sourced the part and had us back on the road within a few hours. Kindly let us and our senior black lab hang out in the waiting room.Friendly and efficient!
Honestly the people there are really nice but unfortunately we had to bring it back twice and now will be a third time as of 5/29/21 because im driving down the highway then BOOM my whole transmission goes while im driving 65mph really loud grinding noise and my vehicle started to shake. Im honestly scared as hell right now ive never heard or been in a situation like that before
They are so awesome here they will fix other mechanics screw ups Vince is a great guy fixed my radiator ty so much
I took my 99 Escort into the Albany, NY AAMCO to have the transmission mount replaced, which they did. Plus they also drilled out and replaced a broken stud, thanks to living up here in salt/rust country. Great work @ a fair price. David L Frisby.
Thanks for all your help.
The shop guys know what theyre doing and are very fair with the price
I was in town for a funeral for the sudden death of a relative. The day before I was to drive back home, my brakes started screeching. I had over an 12 hour drive ahead of me the next morning. I called everyone on the Central Ave strip, (OH YES, I m name dropping !! ) -Midas, Monro Auto service & Tire, Meineke, and Pep Boys. The all quoted me abt $450.00+. That s more than my car note! Most were rude, especially a gentlemen with an accent at Pep Boys, techs @ Midas, after explaining the sudden death in the family and the urgency behind getting it done same day for as affordable as possible. Didn t even offer their condolences. Yea, all the prices went up around here so you re probably not gonna get it any less than that. Not VINNIE @ AAMCO! He was patient, understanding, courteous, knowledgeable. Can t say enough good things. I think he even stayed later to work out my problem though he was modest enough not to tell me. I never post reviews and I m not old fashioned but the sheer decency and compassion Vinnie showed me. I just had too . Thank you Vinnie and the AAMCO family on Central Ave. I M RECOMMENDING YOU TO EVERYONE! EXCELLENT SERVICE
Looked at truck and asked questions will find out when done
It was bad experience the car stayed in the shop for 5 weeks and after it all done the car still doing the same thing
Car is running much better.
Not there
Very upset with the service I received from this place. Brought my car here in July of 2021 to have my wiring harness replaced. Not only did they take two whole weeks to do this, after constantly saying they would work on it tomorrow, it seems they never even did the work that I paid hundreds of dollars for. We are the ones that bought the part for my car, because apparently they wouldnt/couldnt do that. Now Im finding out months later that the part was probably never even replaced, as it somehow has a tear in it, despite the fact that brand new wiring harnesses should last the life of a car. We specifically had told them to give us the old part back, so that way we would know they replaced it (because after multiple conversations with them, it sounded as though they didnt want to do the work, so we had our doubts). After finding this out, it would seem they took the new part out of the box, rubbed some grease on it to make it looked used and wasted both my time and money. I would NEVER recommend this place and would give it zero stars if I could.
Excellent service and personable staff. They brought my Mercedes AMG back to life. Heck I m not even selling it anymore.. Fair Prices, coming from a Mercedes owner. Cheers guys, you re the best around! Positive Professionalism
Saved me $1,600. Appreciate it guys.
Vinnie and his father are awesome people to deal with. They did a great job on my truck.
Vinnie and the team will not rob you like the dealership! I been getting my car repairs there for at least 5 years. My run like new. I recommend any time...
Positive
Outstanding service and fair price. Mike provided great customer service
My nephews cars engine light has been coming on his Nissan Sentra and been difficult to diagnose. Vinnie got the codes and, based on the fact it seems to be an electrical issue, has advised him to have this issue resolved by Gils or McGregors because he knows they would find and correct the issue more efficiently and save money in the process. Thats a Friend you can trust!
They fixed my car on time and with a very fair price.
Pretty great guys
I took my car to the shop for some simple brake work, they charged me 300 but didnt fix anything, and at the end, the front desk person told me it is what it is and just accept it. Stay away from this shop if you dont want to be ripped off.
Good work
Took an service right
I wish I could give this place zero stars. The staff are rude they dont want to help customers, they are horrible! Dont go to this place...this place should be shut down permanently!
Good work, but shop around for better pricing...
The workers really searched and addressed all issues with my vehicle.
Crooked as the day is long. Find another place or get ripped off.
I have brought several trucks to get the transmission done. And every time the transmissions kept on slipping. This shop tried hard to find the problem but no matter what they tried to replace or flush out nothing helped. We took about 4 GMC 2500hd trucks here over a period of about 3 years. Wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt. The last truck we had serviced her it was brought back more than 6 or 7 times. They took the truck in and rebuilt the tranny two times. And still the same problem. I have to give credit to the owner he really tried to fix the problem but couldnt. There warranty is not good. Look around do your research.
NOT STAND UP ABOUT THESE GUYS..Buyer beware!!! this shop is a rip off!!! Initially was told I would be charged $95 an hour for labor. Car was leaking transmission oil. I was there less than an hour. Got a bill for $247.. But only 39.50 that was parts and transmission oil replacement... They also charged me a $95 diagnostic fee, that I was never told about until I received the bill. Mind you it took all of 10 minutes to figure out the problem... If youre woman driving a luxury car they will get you.. Corporate will not do anything about it... SHAME ON THEM.. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau... STAY AWAY!!!AWFULLY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF..READ REVIEW FIRST...
Good service
I wish I could give them 0 stars this was the absolute worst mechanic I ever been to in my entire life... HORRIBLE customer service, they try to up sell and overcharge you for everything, the mechanic Vinny even tried to sell me a part that was not available for my car. They never give a direct answer, if you ask a question about a part they will get an attitude, and tell you you are asking to many questions, Vinny could not even tell me how he got to the price he quoted. I was quoted $2800, when i went through the charges we only got up $2150, and they had no explanation of where the other $650 came from.THIS BUSINESS SEEMS LIKE A COMPLETE SCAM, SO NEVER GO HERE YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF.
I came into Aamco thinking I was going to need a new or rebuilt transmission and to my surprise it turned out to be a leaking cooler lines, WOW!!! Honest people !!!! Can t say enough mike and vinnie really went out of there way to show me everything and answer my questions, I m a customer for life .
I recently was on my way to the mall with my mom when my jeep just stopped. My mom is elderly and it was freezing out so we got very nervous. I was convinced it was my transmission. I called Aamco and they came out and got us in literally minutes. After they put it up on the lift they told me my transmission was fine, it was a broken axle and so much more affordable for me to fix. Im so grateful for the promp rescue and Vinces total honesty. A huge shout out to this garage!
Friendly great service great prices honest people
My car broke down on the thruway while coming home from the Adirondacks. The towing place brought it here and after having the car for 2 days they told me it needed a transmission which would run me about $1500 to $1800. Instead I opted to have it towed to my local mechanic in Orange County. It needed a new alternator for $350. I only gave them one star because I had to in order to post this review. Id strongly advise against taking your car here. EVER.
Vince and Mike from Albany Aamco on Central Ave are real stand up guys. They really try to work with you to diagnose the problem with your car/transmission and get you the best care. When the technicians ran into trouble, and I had family engagement that weekend to attend, Mike agreed to rent me a car from Hertz so I wouldnt miss out. These are good people and I feel you can trust them and I recommend their business and services to anyone.
Superior prices, and great work that includes a nationwide warranty. I had two motor mounts and a new transmission floor shifted installed at the Aamco on Central ave. Orange Motors Ford wanted 1,362.00 for the job. Firestone wouldnt touch the Floor shifter job saying that they couldnt beat Ford since they would be getting the parts from them. Firestone wanted 528.00 for just the engine mounts. Aamco did the entire job for 598.00. a saving of 765.00 from Ford or Firestone. The mechanics at Aamco actually fixed some of the parts as opposed to ordering all new part assemblies. Aamco warrantys all of the parts regardless. Bye bye Firestone!
