These people are the best. The receptionist greets you as soon as you step in the door, knows exactly who you are, why you're there, and the general condition of your vehicle. They work fast, with precision and know-how, and get the job done right. It's the kind of place you want to keep going back to. Service you know you can count on. People who care about, and take pride in their work and their shop.
About a year and three quarters ago, I brought my truck to Foley’s Garage. I asked them to let me know exactly what needed to be fixed and they stated the rotors, brakes and some other repairs including my battery. Over $1,600 dollars in repairs. Less than a year later, my battery dies and I ask them about it. They did fix it but I was not happy with the replacement, but understood that it had to be done with that manufacturer. They had to replace it with an inferior product, but that is who the warranty was with. About seven weeks ago, I took my truck to get the NYS inspection and safety check. It didn’t pass because the e brake is not connected. I texted Foley’s and was told that because the warranty was up, there was nothing they can do and they were on vacation until middle of July and to call back then. I have texted several times to Tracy, wife of the owner, and received no response. I finally called this morning and the owner called me back stating that he doesn’t do business with people who finger point and the mechanic I took my truck to for the inspection doesn’t know what they are talking about. He also stated that it has been a year and three quarters when they saw my truck and the e brake at that point was “rusty crusty” and it could have been then when it disconnected. If it was then, then why not fix it? Not only did they ignore my texts to them, but they also refuse to look and see what is wrong with my truck that they last touched. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS MECHANIC!
Sean and Tracy may, in fact, be loveliest people on the planet! I've got an older car that I'm determined to keep running and they went above and beyond to make that happen. I'm often terrified dealing with mechanics as I'm entirely ignorant to anything car related. They never make me feel stupid and explain everything with such clarity. I'm so grateful! I would recommend their services to anyone a million times over.

I discovered John Foley's Garage in the 2022 Best of the Capital Region. When I saw that they were highly rated on Google, and even better, they are only ten minutes from my house, I knew I had to try them. After my first visit in January 2023, it became my new auto shop for my 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. Traci and Sean, are so friendly and passionate about what they do, and they treat your car right. There's a reason why they have to schedule you two weeks out on average. They are a popular auto shop! If you live in the Altamont area I highly recommend them.
Used this garage for years and really would not think of going anywhere else. Extremely helpful and they never try to run up the bill. Skilled work and can diagnose just about anything. Really useful in getting the last few miles out of older cars that you know you need to replace as well. As an example for their trustworthiness, once got an oil change elsewhere because I was in a hurry and was told by the other shops mechanic that I need four new breaks at close to $1k. Immediately took my car over to Foley's who confirmed that my breaks were fine, which I got another 4 years out of. Can't recommend highly enough.
Amazing people to work with. Both Sean and Traci are professional and honest people. I have had them do everything from oil changes to engine rebuilds and they always over deliver. I have worked in the auto industry and to find a shop that does this quality of work and maintains this level of professionalism can be next to impossible.
Very friendly and professional garage. Mechanics do a really good job and try to help you out if your in a tough situation. Very honest and always good reliable repairs. Been going there many years, intend to go many more. Would definitely recommend to.anyone that wants a fair priced good mechanic.

Good and Honest mechanic
I have unfortunately bought quite a few vehicles without any knowledge of anything about cars so I got quite a few clunkers I wouldn t know where to start on how kind honest and amazing The entire crew is I could go on and on but I ll give two examples I had a jeep it was shaking whenever I would break down hill I brought it to the car dealership they told me the problem would be $1400 to fix a second opinion at Foleys $380 a life changer for me.. as for my clunkers there were at least three occasions when it was not worth spending up to $2000 to fix where I would ve try to find a way to pay that they are so honest they let me know when it s time to stop wasting my money I wish I could go on and on overall the most honest kind Business I ve ever seen..I would recommend Foleys to anyone at any moment I ve had so many mechanics get me for so much money I didn t have but I trusted Them as professionals and unfortunately I ve lost a lot of money in the past Them as professionals and unfortunately I ve lost a lot of money in the past I am forever grateful for everything Foleys has done for me which helps my family

Never ever have I had a bad experience here. Sean and his wife are true professionals. I will never go anywhere else and I tell everyone I know about them. An honest, good mechanic can be hard to find and I found one.

Filey always has been and ways will be the best car garage in the Western Hemisphere. My dads go-to garage before me, he has been working on some of our vehicles for 25 years. I live in Schoharie County now and still make the trip because Ive had so many bad experiences at every would be muffler puncturing place (looking at you monroe) that I dont trust anyone else. Call ahead though, between my entire family the place is usually booked a good week out.
Excellent family run business for two generations. Great mechanics at this establishment. My grandfather used to go to them on a regular basis when I was a kid. Im now 68 years old & know one in my family has ever been dissatisfied with the work they do
Sean Foley is a great man. Our family usually brings our cars to his garage for repairs. I have had many problems with my 2002 Subaru Outback such as ball joints, exhaust leaks, and overheating problems. I couldnt just figure out why my car was overheating so much. I have had my car getting a new radiator and both hoses fixed, and the car still overheated. So my father and I just this week went to his place, and it turned out it was a blown head gasket. Sean had explained what blown head gaskets were, and how expensive it costs to get fixed. My car pretty much is now going to be on its last legs because it has over 233k miles and its just not worth getting a new headgasket due to the amount of miles on my car. Sean has done great work with our cars, and we would love to come back. Once I get a new car sometime, I will be bringing it to his shop for repairs.

This is the best garage on the face of the Earth. My family and I regularly service our vehicles here. Sean is super honest and a great guy and this may be the only place of business where I feel like I get more than I pay for. I only wish they did body work.

WOW! My Sister in law was visiting the Altamont area from Maine. She experienced car trouble and had her vehicle towed to S Foley Garage on Sunday. When we went to see about the possible problems and expecting the worst on Monday...We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist/Assistant (Tracy). Warmth and personality was presented before business. Sean (the owner) was right there. He informed us that there was not issue with the car that it could have been a temporary problem. He tested the vehicle twice. With huge relief we went to pay and it was refused by both Tracy and Sean. What? In this day and age of rip offs, overcharging and unnecessary repairs we encountered old school ethics. I am not sure I remember the last time I encountered this type of amazing treatment. Thank you Tracy and Sean. You are in inspiration!
