These guys are great! Since they are so good, always a line of cars to get in. But, I was in luck because I was in and out of there in 15 minutes for an oil change. Very respectful and friendly. I highly recommend.

These guys were truly amazing here

Worst place ever. Got an oil change and replaced both cabin and engine air filter. The cabin fan now sounds louder than it did before and they left out a couple screws in the bottom cover under the oil filter so I was dragging it until I heard the noise. I stopped to look under my car and saw it hanging for dear life. I went back and they refused to acknowledge they messed up. Definitely not recommended at all. Beware. So do it yourself or just go with the dealership.

This place is horrible. The manager is a joke. They fixed my AC and it still doesnt work correctly. His response was he cant do anything more because its another problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT.

Awesome first time experience. Very knowledgeable, happy atmosphere. David Wagner had great hospitality. Definitely one of the best oil changes ive gotten with this vehicle.

Avoid if you can. The guy was smoking inside while getting the oil change, rude and didn t use the correct coupon. Will never go back. Do not go avoid.

Update: Not really impressed with this place anymore. It seems like they bobbled my oil filter when taking it off and spilled used oil everywhere. It was all over the subframe and inside as well. This led to overnight dripping on my new driveway. I understand things happen, but if you make a mess, at a minimum say something so I can clean it properly. I shouldn t have had to though. For $105 you would think you d get some care. Not sure I ll be back. Brian and his team were first rate. I brought my brand new Mustang to them for a NYS Inspection (I purchased out of state). They treated both my car and I with exceptional attention to detail. They put in a seat cover, a steering wheel cover and a floormat before getting into the vehicle; Ive never had someone use a steering wheel cover before, but it makes so much sense in retrospect. Brian clearly is a car guy and it showed from start to finish. He even went so far to ask how I wanted the sticker placed on the windshield before he attached it (I hadnt put the reg sticker on yet). A crooked sticker really high off the dash would have driven me crazy all year. If you need a quick-stop service, go see Brian - he gets it.

Came in for a vehicle inspection. One employee came out and said Yeah we don t inspect Teslas we don t allow them inside our shop . Okay why s that? Idk company policy.

Not a knock against the crew, Ill blame management. They are understaffed here. 40+ minutes in a line of 2 cars, thats rough.

I am not sure why valvoline has bad reviews. I have never had an issue with my valvoline oil changes. I highly suggest this valvoline as they are not generally super busy and will come let you know an estimated time as well.

I cant express how appreciative I am of this place. I had a family medical emergency and my inspection lapsed way past its expiration date. I realized it and quickly tried to get it done, but everywhere is booked up. On a whim, I drove into the Valvoline next door to me right before they opened and the inspector was so kind he took my car and did the inspection very quickly!!! I will definitely be back for my other needs. Thank you!!!

I brought my car in for state inspection and everyone was incredibly friendly and professional. I was in right at my scheduled time and out within 20 minutes and noone tried to sell me anything unnecessary. Overall it was a great experience.

Dont bring your car there and never do oil change. This is the 2nd time they miss up my car. 1st one was doing oil change. After they finished the car didnt start. They told me it is an alternator and needs to be replaced. I argued with them and they checked again and found out that they didnt put the air filter back. They put the filter back and the car started normally. If agreed with them to replace the alternator I would spent over 1000$ and the car still wouldnt work because of the air filter. 2nd time they told the oil case bolt wont open and they cant do oil change. I told them I always bring my car to you and change the oil. They refused to do the oil change. Be smart and dont go there.

Saturday got an oil change and they were so nice. I got my oil changed done quick. They were very knowledgeable and made sure that I got everything I needed done. I was very happy with their service and will go again when I need another service done!

Poorly run business don t answer phones and tell you to wait until November for an inspection - this is false advertising they advertise appointment not needed yeah right!???!!!!! Good things I called these people - this is a place we cannot do business

I used to be able to get an inspection around Schenectady County valvolines, now they dont wanna do them, I wonder if corporate is aware of that. They told me that corporate was pushing oil changes because they were worth more money!! I guess things have changed.

Get there early like I did (8 am), and youll be in and out in about 30 minutes. Friendly, helpful staff. Ill be a regular, moving forward...thank you guys!

They tried to fail my truck inspection because my wiper blade has a small tear in it. Of course they sell new blades at $20 a peice. He was not happy that I just happen to have a new wiper blade with me. Sorry buddy!

Went for an oil change and the employee was a really nice guy, well done job and best of all this location was not pushy on trying to tell you, that you need this and that, I hate places like that. I have been to the one in Central ave, and what a difference, there I was told that needed this blah blah blah, bs, very satisfied with this location, for now...

Nothing special, got the oil changed

Oil change went well. A little more time than expected, but thats all good. My issue was the aftermath of said oil change. I drove 30 miles and my check engine light came on with a severe oil pressure code. Instead of towing my car to get it looked at, Valvoline (Dave) decided to drive to me to look at my vehicle, which was very nice of him, but not the right move. Upon Daves inspection, he concluded that my engine code issue was not oil change related (crazy coincidence), even though I had just had my oil changed so close to this issue. We then agreed that towing the car was the best course of action, however, Dave needed approval from his manager in Connecticut, that didnt answer. I then agreed to tow my vehicle , on my own accord, back to their shop to have it looked at with the promise that I would be reimbursed Again, Dave insisted that my engine code issue was not oil change related and that if I had a problem to call back. I was basically written off with no compensation or reassurance that my vehicle was ok to operate. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Got my oil changed without an appointment, Dave was nice. Price was par for the course for a synthetic oil change, (pricey but not more expensive than anywhere else Ive been) but I was able to use an online coupon to bring the price down a bit below what I am used to so that was nice. I did get nudged to replace two filters on my car, I accepted both because they did look quite bad. One hadnt been changed since the previous owner purchased the car, so that was probably a good thing to have done anyways. Good experience overall.

My mechanic retired and I needed an oil Change. I pulled in, No Appointment. They asked me a few questions about what I wanted done. They changed the oil, did the routine checks and I was on my way. Very happy.... Polite, professional, and not pushy. Just an FYI: I had just replaced my air filter the week before. You Should take care of that. Especially in this area. Your air filter has been eating a LOT of road salt all winter. It may look clean, but its probably loaded with salt dust. I will be going back . Quick, Professional, Friendly and Quality oil.

I showed up on Monday, was then directed to reschedule for Thursday August 6th with two empty bays. Upon inspection it was noted that the only issue was one of the two license plate lights was out. Which from what I read from NYS DMV was passable Dmv record MV-529 look it up. Then he walked away as I declined to pay 13$ for a .69cent bulb. Then proceed to fail the entire vehicle as he pulled it out. Then said 10$ for reinspection and 13$ for the bulb. I get that a business has to make money on services but after confirming with a mechanic friend, that he failed me due to one bulb as opposed to two was absurd, not a life safety issue at all. I was upset. I have the money to pay it but the principal was lost. He loves his position of power and lacks the communication and customer service. Never going back. Good luck wiper blade changer inspector# ZY21.

Tried to get an inspection. Apparently my appointment was canceled due to their inspector leaving early for the day. Despite them saying they tried to call me I have no voice-mail or missed calls and did not speak to them. Good thing I took 1.5 hrs off of work and made an appointment for all this disappointment....

They were very professional. They also explained why things were taking so long with my oil change.

Horrible service! I visited 4 times to get my inspection and oil change done and not succeeded. First two time without prior appointment ,so I dont blame them for not taking me in but third and fourth time were scheduled visits. In 3rd visit the inspector said the system could not connect to dmv so he cant do anything.I again went on the 4th time to find out that the inspector is out on that day. They did not care to call either of the days to inform about the system issue or about the absence of the inspector and when I was complaining they were totally unapologetic.Aftet a month of this circus my inspection expired and I am driving without inspection sticker until my next appointment .

Guys were cooperative and quick .Price of oil goes up regularly it seems .A little much for service .Some places offer 35 dollars less but have to wait maybe an hour.Starting to think I need to go and wait .

Scheduled nys inspection. Took me in right on time. And it passed.

Just bought a Subaru and brought it into get an oil change. My car calls for 5.1 quarts of oil. They only put 4.1 quarts in. After driving for 3 days my low oil light came on. I brought it in and they added a little more and said it was on the house. Drove for another couple days and low oil light came back on. So after researching how much oil was supposed to be in the car I figured out what happened. I added the rest and the low oil light is off and has stayed off. I paid $80 for a oil change that could have destroyed my new car. I have been going there for years and never had a problem. I think after this experience I will not be returning.

Failed me because of a rip in outer cover on winter wipers. Never a streak on the glass, wanted $25+, after they already removed my sticker. Raised an objection, phoned my home 2 miles away, new wipers coming from there, nope. Camera gives them a reason to do whatever makes them money, 1 of only three cars there. Used this place faithfully for years, guy was unreasonable, obviously hates his job, will never go back.

I love coming here, the guys always, always explain to me everything they are doing and what they recommend, Im so thankful for my last visit, if it was not for the gentlemen working on my car I would have not known what i needed done. Thank you Valvoline, you guys are fast and awesome!

Was turned away for an inspection on a Friday when both bays were empty because I needed to make an appointment. It was 5:10...and they even told me they were waiting on their 5pm inspection. I asked if I could take because the previous person isnt coming and both bays were open and they said no. So I made an appointment for a later date which they tried to fail my entire inspection due to the tiniest tear in a wiper blade. I HAD to buy one of of theirs in order to for it to pass. These people are just out to get you to buy the add on. Last time Ill ever come back and Ive been coming for years.

I showed up for an inspection as Ive done with multiple cars over the last couple years and I was turned away saying I had to make an appointment. The next available inspection appointment was the next day. I was being told this while sitting in my car staring at two empty bays and three guys just standing around chatting inside. I left quite irritated. I drove by 20 minutes later and the bays were still empty. I drove 10 minutes further to JiffyLube and was inspected and out the door in 35 minutes. Good way to lose a customer!

Dont go to this place ! They removed my air filter and couldnt put the air filter housing back together so they just left it unsealed so air could leak around the air filter and straight into the motor. Bad service

I had a very different experience here today vs others. I wont be going back. I made an appt for an inspection. They took my money after completing the inspection and I get back to my car and surprise it failed. Why not tell me that when Im paying? It was for torn wiper blades, replacement of which is a service they provide. Why not offer to replace the blades? I replaced them myself and returned that day for reinspection. They put the sticker on, drove the car out, told me I was all set and slammed the overhead door down. Perhaps thats because it was 3pm, closing time on Sunday. Thanks for being rude, you earned yourself another negative review like many others I see. Your competition thanks you too because they have a new customer.

Went in for state inspection, was told that wipers were bad, wipers were just replaced 1 month prior with Bosch icon blades. When asked to see bad blade shown a tear that was not present day before. Was told I could sue the company and get a copy of the videotape from the camera if I like. As I was standing there the store manager was giving the full court press to a older gentleman about how plugged his injectors probably are on his 2017 vehicle because of today s fuel. STOP WITH THE UPSALES. Better yet just go elsewhere....

Went in for state inspection and was told their computer was overheating? The problem was I called 5 minutes prior to ask if I could come in for an inspection that day and they said yes. The guy I talked to when I was there wasnt pleasant. Giving it 2 stars just because the last time I went there it was a decent experience.

I showed up apparently after the shop closed. The web page time was wrong as the just changed their hours. The crew working were awesome! They took me anyway!! Thank you Valvoline of Altamont!!

After being greeted and asked to pull in front of the 1st bay I Was told by the assistant manager to get the hell out of my car . It was all down hill from there. I questioned him for failing my inspection for a torn wiper blade and let him know that I felt he was attempting to sell me overpriced blades. He responded that I was disrespecting him . He then hopped out of my vehicle and approached me in a threatening manner, got right in my face and asked me what are you gonna do? At this point another employee pulled him away. I got in my vehicle, called the police and the corporate office to file a complaint. I m supposed to hear back within 24 business hours from corporate but needless to say there is a very low chance they can compensate me for the way I was treated at their business today. I will not be going back and I suggest you avoid this business as well. Zero stars.

Stopped in on a late Saturday afternoon, and lined up as the fourth car waiting outside for an oil change. The manager, Bryan, approached my car, telling me, Oil change? Thats about a two hour wait. Not believing him, I remained in line. 35 minutes later, I began to get my oil changed. While I was waiting, three cars in total pulled in behind me. Bryan walked up to those cars too. I assume he told them something similar, because those cars reversed out of the line and left (likely giving a competitor business instead). What sort of business practice is it to lie to potential customers so you dont have to do any work? Apparently, its the practice of this Valvoline.

This Valvoline is great. I typically only have to wait 10-15 mins, sometimes I can just pull right in. Staff is friendly and competent. I always had good oil changes and tire rotations. No issues unlike other Valvoline locations I have been to in the area. Very happy with this place.

Needed an oil change and a state inspection, I arrived on a Friday morning and was the only customer so both guys worked on my car at once. Even with the extra radiator flush service (which was long overdue) the whole process took less than 30 minutes.
