Went here for a second opinion on my vehicle. A little bit of a roller coaster, but they ended up matching what a major dealership had said ultimately (engine replacement required). The team there took the time and went above and beyond and resolved the issue without needing to replace the engine. To note, this could easily have been a "just replace it and it's much easier situation." For whatever reason, the shop did some extra work (which I personally probably would have shot myself in the foot trying to do for the headache it probably would have caused) and saved me about 3500 dollars. So kudos to you, Michael's automotive. Glad I went here off of a somewhat whimsical recommendation from a local customer. Definitely plan on returning for future maintenance items. Still waiting on the vehicle (for other unrelated things), but considering it's (safely) drivable again and they have been super easy to work with, I decided to leave a review.
We just relocated to the area and had an emergency with my car. I just started a new job, don’t have any family in the area, and was absolutely panicked regarding the situation. I originally brought my car to a different mechanic and didn’t have the best experience. If I could give this place a billion stars I would. They answered all my questions, were very responsive, charged what needed to be fixed, and was very timely in the repairs. The only positive thing about car issues is coming here!
Phil and the team at Mike’s consistently provide outstanding care for my Chevelle. Their meticulous attention to detail and unparalleled passion for vintage muscle cars truly set them apart!
*The reason the review was put up a few years later is because I am now needing a new alignment and am looking for a place to have it done. It reminded me of the experience I had. I definitely should have left the review the same day. However, I was too busy fixing the damage to my truck.... Replying to my review and stating you have no record of me implying that i would just, out of nowhere, decide to write a bad review about some random shop just reinforces my decision to not go back. I definitely should have gone back in and said something after I saw the damage and demanded repair. However, after the bad experience, I didn't really want to go back at all. Went here a couple of years ago. Needed an alignment done on my truck. They were recommended by another mechanic because they have a nice alignment setup. Anyway, I had replaced most of my front-end components, including new upper control arms as well as new alignment cams and bolts. When they were loosening or tightening one of the adjustment cam bolts they must have used and impact in the bolt side as opposite to the nut side, which caused the alignment cam to break the alignment pin that the cam rides on. When the truck was ready, they told me what happened except blamed the issue on the truck being rusty. However, everything in the front end was new and should have been very easy to adjust and tighten by hand. They said the alignment pin was broken and would require welding to fix. However, alignment pins on my truck just press in with vice grips. I ended up fixing it myself. The frustrating part is they broke something due to their own negligence and just gave it back and charged full price. If I break something that I'm working on and it's totally my fault, I'm obligated to fix it. Even if it will cause me to lose money because it's my fault. This fix would have been simple. Yes, they would need to take the front end apart to do it, but that's the right thing to do. I'm guessing they assumed it would be the last alignment the truck ever got, which isn't the case. The truck is still running and driving great, and I have alignments done by another place that knows what they are doing. I don't know if they actually thought it required welding to fix or just told me that thinking I didn't know enough about the way the alignment system works on the truck. I didn't cause any issue when checking out. I just know now where to not have work done on my vehicles.
I've been taking my 2017 Dodge Durango to Phil and his guys for a few years now. They can usually accommodate me with an appointment in less than a week if not sooner. Last weekend I left a message for an oil change through their Facebook Messenger and it was responded to almost immediately. I received a follow-up message Monday that they could do it Thursday (today) at 9:30AM, come to find out it was Brandon, like I told him it was much easier than waiting to call Monday morning and his response to my message was great. In all honesty, Phil, Jason, Brandon and their mechanics are amazing. They are all honest, friendly and will work with you. As a matter of fact, when I was in there today for an oil change. Dusty remembered my car, checked a minor issue I have without me asking him to and came out to remind me and talk to me about it. Personally I won't be taking my car to anyone else.
I was travelling and called ahead to make an appointment, because I needed to get new tires for my Honda Pilot. The tires were the original and were pretty worn (36k), but some road debris made it an emergency replacement. They stayed a little late, got me some great new tires, and the price was better than fair. They absolutely deserve their high rating!
I had an emergency with my car when the trunk wouldn’t close due to broken tailgate lifts. I called for quick assistance, and they were very accommodating and helpful. They scheduled me in the same day and promptly removed the faulty parts. Their service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely return here and highly recommend them. I had a fantastic 10/10 experience with Michael's Automotive. They were incredibly caring towards both me and my mom, always ready to assist with any questions. Their support was invaluable, especially when I decided to modify my car, whether it was before lowering it or after.

All around great service here. They keep you informed about your vehicle and what it needs now and in the future. Example I thought I need breaks but I was wrong and informed that my break are good for another couple of months. Other place in my experience would have just done them because I said hey I need breaks but not here they definitely look out for you.

Bought a 2014 Elantra there almost a month ago -such an easy smooth process, everyone was really friendly and helpful. The car was in great condition, the tech went through it again before they let me buy it I would definitely purchase from them again and will most definitely be using them for any auto care I need.

UPDATING to 5 stars as the owner reached out and was able to rectify the issue. Giving 2 stars because they completed the job quickly, however were deceptive when asked several times if they were installing a remanufactured starter, which I specifically stated I did NOT want. I was assured at least 3 times the starter they installed was new. Looked up the part number when I got home, and it is a remanufactured starter.

I had FANTASTIC service at Michaels Automotive in Ballston Spa yesterday! I accidentally dropped off my car one week early without realizing until I got home -- I called the shop to see if they wanted me to come pick it up, but they didnt even bat an eye! My car was serviced (oil change and inspection) and fixed (new back break pads) within a few hours, with great communication along the way. My Toyota Sienna is now ready to hit the open road. It goes a long way to have a local auto repair shop you can trust! Our family receives this level of service every time we bring a vehicle to Michaels. Thank you!
Had an alternator replaced in July of 2023 at Michael s of Ballston Spa. After having a hard time finding a new one as opposed to a manufactured one, Michaels was able to find a new one, and get it replaced in the same day! Excellent technicians , excellent rates, exceptional customer service, I would strongly suggest anyone in the area to seek out Michaels to fulfill your service needs! Also, if you get a chance to meet the owner Phil Defiglio, tell him to keep it out of the bushes on friday nights! It ll lead to great conversation!
I have been using Michaels Automotive for over 5 years- after moving here from another state. I knew nothing about cars and could have easily been taken advantage of. I would not trust anyone else with my vehicle. By far the best customer service I have ever experienced and incredibly knowledgeable about their trade. They did great work! Fixed my Honda Odysseys pretty bad oil leak & fixed another issue I m glad they caught. They use good parts not cheaply made ones.

Michaels by far handles down the best Automotive & body work garage in Saratoga and Schenectady County prices are always reasonable he gets you in fast he guarantees his work and its always done right I have been going to him for four years now and I never had to bring my car back to have it looked at again for the repairs that was done at his shop. If youre looking to have Automotive work or body work done to your car hes your man give him a call you wont be disappointed.
Absolutely made a customer for life. They gave it to me straight and I felt they were extremely reasonable for the all the work they did. Ive been hosed quite a few times going to the various chains and dealerships in the area and it admittedly put me off a little too long from getting some needed work done. Glad I went with my gut and gave them a call - theres a reason people trust them with their classic cars and theres always a full lot out front. These guys rock, theyre honest, and they had a sense of humor about me getting my moneys worth on my old set. Brakes and rotors all around a 5yo Jeep with an added caliper and hose, plus labor was <$1350 with the tax. I honestly was expecting a to be charged a little less for just brakes and rotors so I was pleasantly surprised and happy they ensured I was going to leave with a vehicle that was going to continue stopping. Happy to know the money is going back into my community and neighbors. Ill be back once the bank account recovers to get my tires done. No more Mavis for this lady!
Paid them over $100 to fix brakes. The never fixed them. Kept vehicle for 4 days. Then sent me to a dealership to get them fixed.

Took a car that I was looking to buy from a private seller here to get inspected. Phil was super friendly and polite on the phone and in person. They took the car for a test drive and inspected the entire thing. He was patient in explaining to us what the issues were and if it was major or something we should just keep an eye on. He wrote everything down and gave us quotes on every repair. His service gave me confidence in the car and I did end up buying it.

Went to michaels after mavis tire in ballston spa ran my car off the alignment rack and did body damage. Then they said they couldnt align the car so I took it to michaels. They aligned the car and it drives great!!!! They also looked under my car for damage at no extra cost. Super professional and honest. I will be returning in the future. Highly recommended
Just got my truck fixed. Second mechanic that I brought it to and Michael s fixed it. It took four Weeks at two different shops. I recommend Michael s for everything very reasonable prices vary on top of everything.
