Curtis is fantastic! We used Jay to help design our Kitchen and Baths as well as Amanda from the lighting department to pick out all our lights/ fixtures for our new construction. Working with them both has been a wonderful experience. Their knowledge and expertise has been a trustworthy experience.

This is a full service lumber and hardware store They have the only hardwood lumber in this area. Their prices are fair and the selection is good. The quality of most of the lumber is good to excellent. The hardware selection is extensive and I have never been unable to find what I want.

No one knows what they are doing or even selling. They hire people with no social skills, no knowledge of the isles. This is ridiculous

Joann has been awesome to work with. Im a DIY homeowner replacing a 900sqft deck and porch. Im so thankful for how responsive and helpful throughout the project she has been.

6/23/24 - I relocated back home over a year ago and after calling to ensure we did not have to make an appointment, we made the 2 hour drive with our new office/garage plans. Our intent was to sit down with a project resource and order windows, doors and siding. After arriving we were guided to the appropriate area where a project resource kind of greeted us and pointed at a table where we began to roll out our plans and attempted to tell him what we were needing. The CL employee wasnt even listening, nor did he sit down. He kept talking over us saying we needed a window detail sheet with exact measurements. I showed him the measurements were on the plans but again, he was basically walking away at that point. I also tried to redirect to siding and doors but he was very rude and dismissive. We were able to get an appointment with ABC Supply in Queensbury who are tremendously helpful and kind and appreciate the $50k in materials needed for our building.

Went in to get pricing for a deck we want to build. Waited for 40 minutes for anyone to approach us. Even with several associates right there and another associate continually talking with an older lady about personal stuff and nothing to do with decks. Then when someone finally talked with us it seemed like we were a major inconvenience and they were all about having an appointment which we didnt realize we had to have an appointment just to talk to someone about pricing out the materials for the deck. We were basically shown the door. I think I will be taking my business elsewhere and not setting foot back in a Curtis Lumber.

Due to an encounter with a very rude employee named Justin I will never be back. Hes a real tough guy with senior citizens and probably shouldnt have a customer facing job. My father asked him if he could point him in the direction of something in the store and Justin got very aggressive in letting my father know that he was busy. The employee continued to yuck it up with his pals and ridicule my father as he walked away. We did eventually get help from a very nice employee but I cant give my business to a place that allows employees like Justin to disrespect customers like that. I did speak to a manager about the situation but Im sure nothing will be done about it. I wasnt offered a follow up conversation. I cant tolerate such disrespect towards the elderly.

Called to see if they sold a certain product. Person answering phone kept transferring me to a busy line called back 3 time and finally gave up. I told him it rings busy each time and let me speak to someone else doesn t have to be in that department. So dumb.

Went to their Saratoga store for Lighting selection. Its a pretty big store with different departments. Brian from Lighting was knowledgeable and was very helpful with our selections. Wished they had more items in display.

Told me I would be morning Delivery a week in advance for over 300 sheets of Plywood then they called me at 8 am the day I started the job and told me first stop. Here I am 4pm roof Wide Open and no Supply. This is a $12 thousand dollar order. Now I have no time to get the roof Water Tight for the Rain Coming Tomorrow. Horrible business to work with. Complete liars

My wife and I met with a designer at Curtis Lumber to remodel a bathroom. We picked out materials and gave measurements to the designer. He told us we would have a quote in about 2 weeks. That was about a year and a half ago. No response ever. I wouldn t recommend them for any kitchen or bath remodeling.

I had to call and place a pretty small order for some plywood and a couple of other things. Im not experienced with construction / home improvement projects and could only share what someone had suggested I needed. Even though my order was pretty small, from start to finish, everyone I spoke to was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, pointed me in the right direction and gave good advice. And then, they called me back to say that everything I needed was in stock at a closer store, and I had my delivery within 3 hours of placing the order. Completely satisfied with the entire experience.

One customer is in the store. I asked an employee standing there where a certain trim would be ,he pointed over there ,it wasnt, so I just left and never will return.

Brought in a lower sash Andersen window for replacement. The person working the project center first told me it was not an Andersen window. I directed them to the glass etching that said Andersen. He then told me that is just the glass size/date (which is true) and said I would need the model/part number from the window sash sticker. I went home to look for this sticker and my windows had none. Through about 10 seconds of googleing, I quickly found out that Andersen started placing those stickers on their windows in 2007. The glass on my window clearly stated 3-86 (March 1986). I took some quick dimensions of the glass and called Andersen directly. They gave me a part number and I had 2 replacement lower sashes on order in 5 mins. I was ready to spend more money for good customer service at Curtis, but they couldnt figure out how to take my money. Conclusion. If you know nothing about windows but can use the internet, you know more than the Curtis project center about a brand that they rep.

It was time to upgrade our master acrylic shower insert and laundry room. We chose Curtis Lumber based on good recommendations. Working with the designer was excellent. Her follow-up skills regarding our order were on point. Delivery was on time and placed neatly in our garage. We hired a Curtis vetted contractor from their list. All went well up until tile was installed. Crooked tile placement, numerous sized grout lines, incorrect tile placement, grab bars attached with one screw on each side inside of 3 required, missing grout/caulk. The tile around drain was not placed correctly and actually pinches your feet. These are to name a few of the problems. Two members from Curtis management came to inspect this job and agreed with us. We hired a tile professional to clean up the job, which should have been done. Unfortunately, due to the careless workmanship and to achieve the shower we desired, it will require yet other complete redo. Since the vetted contractor is not an employee of Curtis, this is not a Curtis installation. As a result, they have no responsibility for the contractor, which was much to our detriment. We are now beginning this process again, but not with Curtis Lumber.

I wana give these guys 100000 stars What an experience of politeness & Humbleness My truck delivery was at 7 am I reached around 1 am and was trying to park side of the the store because tHey had a gate when i parked on the side the Security guard came to me saw the paperwork and told me to get inside the yard told me to park at the designated place and showed me the building for 24 restrooms and wending machines 6.30 am the unloading team came knocked the door and took me to dock very very nice people hatts offfffff

Needed good quality veneer plywood in a custom size. They were very cooperative and helpful in cutting a full sheet in half and making one additional cut to size it.

Expensive, but thank god for this place. Its the only store I have found that sells good hardwood in the area. I dont buy anything else there though.

Tried to exchange a pair of jeans and shirt for a different size for a family member who doesnt even live in the state of NY and had to ship them back to me. Because they didnt have the tags on them, but clearly can see have never been worn anywhere and I had the reciept for them THEY STILL WOULDNT EXCHANGE THEM. last time I even bother shopping for carhart or other clothes here. Other stores including tractor supply or ACE would have exchanged them as they have in the past for me. Terrible service from the representatives and store manager.

Havent been here in ages and it is as wonderful as I remembered! Friendly and extremely helpful staff! When we couldnt find what we were looking for in the wood and trim section, they immediately came to the rescue and offered alternate ideas when we all still couldnt find it. Then from a different department, we found a ceiling treatment but no prices or brochures and long lines. We took the sample back to trim and mouldings and the Sarah S., the great employee (!) got the info she needed and will call us tomorrow with prices and details. Outstanding customer service!!

Love Curtis Lumber. Very friendly service, helpful. I honestly always thought they were pricey, but Ive been rehabbing a home and found out they were cheaper than Home Depot on many building materials.

Nice store but says they sell Fencing on their website and it is a lumber store, but, drove up there only to be told they dont have fencing.

Its pricey but when you want to move on a project its the place to go. My contractor gave me a list of things he needed for my screened-in porch project. A variety of pressure treated lumber, composite, even some trex. I tried for 3 hours to put this $2,000 order order together at the local box construction store. The 2x10s had to come from one place the 2x4s had to come for another place the 4x4s had to come from a third store but then finally they found one store where I could get everything but then they told me that they couldnt deliver these items I would have to go pick them up. Were talking 16 ft boards how am I going to get those into my Honda Accord. As the orders were put together and then reassembled at different places about a dozen charges appeared on my credit card and then disappeared as credits were given when the orders were canceled. It was getting to be a gigantic mess. And at the end of the day I still would have had to rent a truck and go pick the stuff up and carry it here myself. So I canceled everything at the box store. Every last single thing. I took the order fresh to Curtis and made a 5-minute phone call. The cost was about $200 more. Due to the size of the order there was no delivery charge. I did not have to rent a truck, I did not have to go get it myself, I did not have to assemble an order across four different stores. And then theres the part where they know what theyre doing. The staff have the expertise to help you figure out your order and get it right. One guy in the deck section spent 2 hours putting together the trex order for my outside deck, a separate project I have recently completed. At the box store I could just get a kid to come show me the samples and what they had in stock. They never even explained the different grades of Trex. Anyhow if you are ever wondering how these stores survive in competition with the big box stores I think the answer is quality of the product, expertise of the staff, taking time to help customers, and making it all work in a timely manner. For some of us the agro of bumbling around a big box store and guessing what to buy just isnt worth it.

I was looking for a particular shade of red and the young woman at the counter provided me with excellent service. She showed me alternatives, discussed the benefits of the particular paint, helped me chose a less expensive and more suitable brush, all with a caring disposition. I left with what I needed.Best customer service ever!

Cust service is erratic and sub par. Sometimes helpful, sometimes can hardly be bothered. On two occasions the attendant seemed to take delight in being out of a certain part and took obvious pleasure in telling me that I wouldnt find it around here. Both times I found the part at the next hardware store.

This store is great they will help you out anyway they can.. They a lot better than Lowes or home depot any day..

Love the store in person needs massive work on the emails section of the business tho otherwise Id give a solid 5* review really wish I could give the 5* but sadly I will be going to Lowes or home Depot as I can get prices without having to go there in person to see if they have the materials needed or even a price when I put in a request for a price on plywood got an email saying 2 days max I will get a reply back with the asked for info and if not to reply to a different email and it would be rectified never was so as much as I love the store il bring my money elsewhere if they want more business from people they need to make a website or actually step up their response time and make it known that they messed up not just ignore their customers Been my favorite store for years but after asking for a price and never getting a response except for the automated message il pass on going back to the store and go elsewhere more expensive or not il get worse grade material before I go to a store that wont help their customers Im deeply disappointed in their custome service

Excellent displays for every room in the house. If youre looking for ideas for just about any home project, stop in and talk to the friendly staff. The way they have all their design products is very impressive. Way better than home depot or lowes!

Six week kitchen remodel has taken approximately six months so far due in no small part to Curtis Lumbar delivering damaged materials as well as the wrong materials. Still waiting for the replacement materials and the right materials. They also provided the contractor with the wrong plans for the island. We are sick of eating at restaurants.

Curtis Lumber has always been a big disappointment. They cater to the contractor. You go and ask a question, and they expect that you know all of the contractor lingo. They get annoyed if you are not an expert on construction details. We ordered a vanity which was supposed to be delivered in the morning, and my wife waited all morning and they never showed up. They had her cell. No phone call, no update. Curtis is over rated. I have found that the big box stored are much more accommodating and provide better service.

We purchased a new kitchen from Curtis 3 years ago. They were great during the sale, coming to our home, offering design advice and recommendations. We purchased high end cabinets and they looked beautiful for 6 months until the finish started to peal off. Now 18 months later of feet dragging, they arent responding. Dont buy from Curtis unless you have an attorney on retainer.

Clothes, tools, hardware, wide array of lumber: whats not to love?

Its ok they dont carry pellet stoves but its a good alternative to the big box places and what they do have seems better quality and selection than those big name places.

Ive always like buying building materials from curtis lumber, great availability, they deliver, and always priced right. Staff is knowledgeable and professional.

I specifically asked if I could have a full glass storm window in the winter in front of my my vinyl front door. I was told by a neighbor that this should not be done. The representative at Curtis told me the door was made for storm windows. Then he proceeded to order me a fixed window door... no screen. Curtis was nice enough to admit their screw up gave me a new door however, I had to pay the my contractor again for the second installation. Not cheap! Even when we reordered for the proper storm door the representative insisted that a storm window was perfectly ok. When winter came the new window portion of the door would not fit in properly neither Anderson nor Curtis would come out to take a look. NOTE, Im writing this after a failed attempted to install heat reducing film so i am a bit frustrated. I live in fear of my vinyl door catching fire from the heat so I have to reinstalled the screen door, OR, wake up in the morning to open my beautiful vinyl door so it will not melt or distort. . I guess the moral of the story is not to trust those trained professionals behind the desk at the Ballston Spa by Curtis Lumber. If you do...get signed statements notarized by God!! LOL I just cannot believe that I am in this position.

Great selection of hardwoods and exotic woods. Prices range and some prices are decent and other things are overpriced. They have a small selection of exotic turning blanks, but they are overpriced. They also have a great selection of pine and construction lumber. They also have a small hardware store inside with hardware, paints, brushes, finished, etc. Parking is not hard to find and the staff are friendly.

We tried for the second time to give our business to Curtis Lumber. Few years ago we tried to do our bathroom with them, the lack of response was depressing. We though it was due to the pandemic, and now we just tied again to do our kitchen. We sent all the homework back within 2 days we received the paperwork with professional pictures, and the waiting time to ONLY meet the designer for the first consultation was TOO long. We met several designers in the meantime, and hired one of them. We just cancelled our meeting for the 1st consultation, we were scared of the rest of the process, if the first appointment took that long. I believe they dont need business for kitchen and bathroom, unless you are a builder.

Expensive. Bought a wood splitting Maul. Only had two in stock, went with the heavier one. Cashier was friendly. They do have good closeout deals on things once in a while. Worth checking.

Thought I go get breakfast at a restaurant in the same parking lot and get some supplies for my home renovation project. However the restaurant owners were on vacation leaving me with a 15 minute waiting time before Curtis lumber opened at 7am. Curtis lumber has been in existence for over 100 years and is headquartered in Ballston Spa near where I live. They have over 23 locations in upstate NY. They carriy a selection of plywood, treated lumber, dimension lumber, hardwood and engineered lumber. To make things simpler its just a lowes or home depot that is locally owned and smaller in size. Buy and shop local

Overpriced, and didnt complete the order. They also broke one of the cabinets and took forever replacing it. Customer service was also poor, there representative refused to return calls. Would not recommend.

Very disappointed. Looking for new vanity, no one asked if they could help and not many reasonably priced. Home Depot had better selection.

Curtis Lumber Ballston Spa staff where extremely personable and helpful during our new home construction. We can not say enough good things about our interaction with the kitchen and bath design team. They are top notch. They offer an wide selection of products are very knowledgeable about the products that they carry. Here is the key - if they dont know they say so, but will then research your question, and provide a prompt reply. This is what sets them apart from their competitors. Check them out- you cant go wrong here.

We worked with Paige Songer as our designer. She was great! Easy to work with and when we had a change in plans she was very accommodating. She designed our kitchen just the way we wanted. We got our cabinets, hardware and flooring from Curtis and love them!

Had to pick up a few supplies for a building project today. Ordered online the day before, and was able to drive through the lumber yard for curbside pickup. I bought $800. worth of lumber from the to build a deck. The contractor showed up and said he couldnt start because Curtis sent untreated lumber instead of decking. I went to Curtis and they said they would replace it right away.No replacement delivery. Had to pay $280 for 4 hrs show up to contractor to sit on his bitt waiting Cant depend on Curtis. No body does their job. So irritating

If you want/need exotic woods...this is your place!!!!!! Wow! I could spend my entire salary there and walk out with a smile! P.s. the staff is super helpful, attentive and pleasant. They even laugh at your horrible jokes to make you feel better about yourself. So, wood and therapy in one stop. Thats what I call a good experience.

Every associate that Ive interacted with at this location has gone out of their way to be helpful. Not only that, but the employees are very knowledgable and if they dont know the answer to your question they will find someone who does.

Been going here for over ten years now and reason didnt give a 5 star is because Ive watched it go from an excellent local company to a big box store style. Dont get me wrong, this place is still solid, but not the way it use to be with customer service, knowledge of products, etc.

Saw ad for Richmondville store grand opening and thought I would support local business so I drove there. They were not very helpful or knowledgeable about Johnson Pine (they are a distributor) and made me feel that they could not be bothered. I called Munson lumber and got all the help needed and placed my order. Nice new Curtis location - very poor customer service/relations.

Highly recommend. We met with Maria to help plan our bathroom renovation. She instantly got our style and helped to show us a bunch of great options. They have a show room there with lots of options and samples. She was beyond helpful and cant wait to continue meeting with her to finalize our design.

Met with Rich in the Projects room. The appt before me ran close to 15 minutes late but no fault of his. Rich was knowledgeable and helpful and in no time I had plans for building the foundation for a new deck, printouts of board and joist placement, materials list and a cost estimate. This was my first experience with Curtis lumber and it was a very positive one!!

Place was great its extremely refreshing to go into a lumber hardware stores these day and have people know what they are talking about..everone was helpful and nice selection of products

Shopping here is always a pleasure. You are greeted by employees throughout the store and they are always available and willing to help. Their Carhartt stock is incomparable and you can always order if they are out of stock. Curtis Lumber is a gold star in my book

Don t go here if you want personal one on one service. My wife and I went in to pick out 2 new bathroom vanity tops. We tried to get 2 different sales people to help us and both were turned off the minute we told them it was only 2 vanity tops. Both said the job was so small that their contractors probably wouldn t take it. They told us to make an appointment with a designer during the middle of the week when they weren t so busy. Ummmmm ok I work during the week too. They took our number down and said they would have a designer contact us when they are free and to set up an appointment. Well no phone call!! While we wondered around for a few more minutes we watched both sales people grab a note pad and assist other customers who I m assuming had a much bigger project than we did. Less than impressed. I watch the TV everyday and see all the prominent builders in the area tout how great Curtis is..... I guess they are great when you spend a ton of money with them but 2 stone vanity tops are below them.

We left after 45 minutes very pleased and will most like return once decisions are made. Thank you! This came after a visit from Solid Surfaces In Glenville, where we purchased a counter about 15 years ago. The visit lasted 5 minutes, the rudeness and unprofessionalism was that bad. They questioned every question we had and spoke to us in the most demeaning manner. This salesperson obviously failed Sales Professionalism 101.

Nicole Stack in the Cabinet Department went above and beyond to help me when I damaged a cabinet door. She provided excellent service, helped me identify the correct door when I didnt know, and helped me order the replacement. If she puts this much care into what must have been a nuisance and small order, I am sure she will do her best for anyone.

Beautiful store and great customer service

I built a new kitchen and Jacques was incredible. He had ideas and cautioned me about things I would never have thought of. He stuck with me through indecisiveness and mind changing. It came out beautiful and I will post pics once my appliances that were ordered in November come in.

Curtis did right by us. Paige Songer guided us through the entire process from design to cabinet choices to last minute changes. When we were unhappy with something, she was there to correct it. And she showed amazing patience. She kept working with us until we got it the way we liked. Very happy with the result.

Ballston Spa branch of Curtis Lumber has been nothing less than a horrible experience, not only for our drywall company but for our client as well, whom is always our primary concern. From being lied to and strung along for hours, given three different times on delivery arrival, to the materials being dumped on our clients driveway in the rain, without concern or help, leaving it to the homeowner himself to scramble the huge amount of materials to shelter. This is unacceptable behavior and a perfect example of poor work ethics. Never again will we ever use this company for any of our business in the future.
