Every single time myself or my family has come to Mavis in Ballston Spa, it has been a pleasant experience. From calling to make an appointment to getting any service done, the staff has been informative, pleasant and efficient.

I ve always had great service here. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. They will recommend as needed, but never pressure you into purchasing additional services.

BEWARE. Very dishonest. Do not go to this shop for a state inspection and I would strongly advise not buying tires here either. Short story is I have a long trip planned and needed some new tires and a state inspection quickly, in time for my trip. I didnt have time to go to my regular tire shop or inspection place. Ended up here for conveinence...Bought the tires ...the tires were over double the price my regular shop charges. More than DOUBLE. Fine, they can charge what they want, I didnt have to buy them. I could have gone elsewhere but didnt due to time constraints. But here is where I cant sit back and allow dishonesty. Here is what happened. My brother, my cousin my Dad and my good friend are all mechanics. My cousin and another friend race super dirt oval at albany speedway in bspa. They know what they are doing. I called them before I posted this. I just wanted their professional opinion...I am glad I did. So this is what happened.....Im short on time and I asked and Mavis said they do inspections, great...I figured I could save an hour or two if I did the inspection while they put on the new tires. Please understand my car is perfect. Perfect. Mavis completely made up a story to try to get me to pay a $400 repair. They claimed something was broken When I went to the lift it was 100 working. They refused to acknoledge it was working. I dont want to get into specifics, its just not the point, the point is they failed my inspection fraudently in an attempt to extort money from me. It was a very slow day for them, the shop was empty. I paid for my tires and left. Called my brother first. He laughed. He told me point blank they tried to do the same thing to his girlfriend a year ago. He said he got the same type of call from her. He ended up taling the car to the dealership where he works and they checked it out, no issues whatsoever. So, I gave up trying to save time and took my car to my regular guy, absolutely perfect, no issues. Then about 20 minutes ago my cousin calls me and tells me to NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. He says all the car guys he knows that live in this area know that this shop fails people on state inspections as a way to scam people into paying for repairs they dont really need. He tells me this. He says its a known thing. Unreal. Its because of this I felt the need to post this ridiciolusly long review. Im sorry its so long. I am actually disgusted by this shop and I had to make this post. I hope I can save someone from getting taken advantage of. My advise is dont ever go there for an inspection and if you do have to get new tires, do some price comparison and only use this shop if you have no other choice and good luck they dont try to bilk you some other way..

Had a 10 am appt for an inspection dropped the car off early around 9:20am,, called at 12:12 to check on the status of it, was told sorry they are bringing it back now, an hour goes by & I stopped in to check on it & was told, oh it s up next. I do not think so. Horrible customer service

The team that works on the cars are great they go above and beyond but Zach in the front doesnt know how to treat them properly or treat the workers with respect They work hours late some nights and Zach doesnt have the proper teachings to be a leader I would quit if I worked here because of the way he speaks to his team who works really hard while he answers phones all day and complains but barely helps them when its needed so the team will stay a hr late up to 3hrs late but he will treat them poorly for walking in not even 3mins late the attitude and the vibe makes wanting to go there undesirable and makes it feel tense Never had an issue with the team my car is always worked on well and they let you know exactly what you need and what can wait to be done Please work on your manager treating employees and others poorly They need to be considerate with the way they talk to other patrons

Everyone here was very pleasant, especially Glenn. They were all very pleasant and efficient here! Would definitely come back in the future.

When you take your truck to a tire shop to get new tires and the guy says in the office says it was a big job. Getting your tires changed at a shop where they specialize in tires shouldn t be a big job. Made an appointment for 10am and we were there on time. They said it would be ready at 4:45 so we get there at 4:45 and the truck is still in the air on the lift and the tires aren t even on the truck yet. Nor has the oil been changed. We sat in the parking lot for an hour and watched 2 guys work on the truck while the other 2 guys played on their phones. The truck was in the shop for a total of 8 hours. Then when the guy pulled the truck into the parking lot out of the bay after dark at 5:45pm, they close at 5 so none of the parking lot lights were on, he doesn t even turn the lights on to be able to see. Also, my husband payed for the job and then they tell him after the fact oh the oil hasn t been changed yet. My husband is in incredibly gracious man and it takes a lot for him to say, I will never come here again. The whole experience has been a 0 out of 10.

These guys rock!!! CHRISTIAN and his CREW went above and beyond!! I got a flat tire and the tow truck got there at 5:55pm and they were closing at 6 pm. Christian told me if you can get here before 6 we will get you right in...these guys were right on!!! They went right to work and got me a new tire and had me in and out in no time!!!!! Got my vehicle re-inspected here and they found major issues that somehow other auto shops missed (half of my car was falling off without my knowledge and they were the first people to tell me about it). Quick yet efficient service as well. Update: went again for an oil change, thought Id have to wait all day for them to squeeze me in (I didnt make an appointment, just called in to see if I can drop my car off) and it was ready within an hour! got great service there today and Ill be returning for any future maintenance.

Just had a screw removed and a tire plugged. Ryan at the front desk was able to squeeze me in without an appointment and turn it around in about a half an hour. Super easy, and ended up costing less than expected. Would not hesitate to recommend!

I have been bringing my car here for many years. After having trouble with so many other garages being dishonest, it is refreshing to deal with professionals that are kind and courteous, as well as being honest. I recently brought my car in for an emergency, and asked them to fix just what was happening. They did so, at a very reasonable price, and didnt try to goad me into extra work. When it came time to pay, the manager Rob went above and beyond helping me get it all together. He was patient, courteous, and professional. Because of Covid, I was nervous about safety protocols, but they were completely safe and careful. I cannot give them enough praise. Thank you, Mavis, for helping keep us safely on the road.

Had a rez for a commercial van at 1pm..10min before closing I called to find out they were pulling my van in for work to stay after hrs to work on it.. they called back shortly after saying now they won t touch it for another two days!! Lost work and a spot at another shop!!!how does this happen! Not even a call prior! Just excuses! . Ok so I just dropped the commercial van back off two days later for their second rez at 11a.m! Had to call back before they closed again to find out they never touched it again!!! Next step BBB complaint possibly look in to legal ways of getting loss wages for inconvenience

I ve been here several times for work, inspections, etc.. Every time, they have lowered their prices to go lower than anyone else I can find (I call everywhere), or even just to help me out. I have yet to need to take a vehicle back to them after they did work, they are respectful to me, and no one has ever been misogynist here which is an extra bonus for a single woman coming in! They also have a decent enough space for when I ve had to bring kids in with me. Definitely recommend.

Finally a great experience with Mavis! Ive had the displeasure of another location being unprofessional and had my truck in the lift for 4+ hours just to swap tires.. Nicholas, at the front desk, however, was very professional and courteous while handling multiple customers and phone calls! Brandon, the tire tech, rapidly swapped tires on my custom wheels while having dozens of extra boots to deal with. I showed up without an appointment and all lifts were being used. Overall, Im very pleased with this location and their work ethic!

I would give a negative number if it was possible. Deceitful, lyres is my experience and opinion of this Mavis location. I would not recommend this location to anyone for vehicle repairs. Here is my reason for my opinion and what I experienced. I went in for a simple rear rotor and break pad change, also to replace a broken muffler hanger. I usually do this my self but didnt have the time that week. So I dropped it off after getting a quote of about $480. They called me saying the the entire exhaust system needed to be replaced and the muffler was rubbing against the rear leaf spring, they would have to get back to me on what that would cost. Then they went on to say the caliper slide was frozen in place the calipers would have to be replaced also one of the bolts that hold the caliper was stuck if it broke the calipers would have to be replaced , the break lines bled etc. This brought the job up to $1,200. I asked them to stop work and I would pick it up. On the weekend I had time to replace the breaks and muffler hanger myself. I first looked at the muffler and leaf spring they said were rubbing against each other. They were not even close as all on the exhaust system clamps were in place except one that I asked them to replace. It was located no where near the leaf spring. an easy fix on my part. I use a socket wrench to remove all of the bolts that held the calipers in place. none were difficult to remove with just the normal amount of physical force needed to remove them. Mavis has impact wrenches so I see no reasonable explanation as to why I was told a bolt was stuck. I pushed the slides out of the caliper by hand with very little effort something again they said was frozen in place. Degreased them lubed them and slid them back in place. The caliper pistons were slid back in place as they should all in all the job went smoothly. No calipers were in need of replacing. the parts were under $300 thats 2 rear rotors and a set of break pads. So for the approximate $180 difference It would of been faster/easier to have Mavis do the job. I feel they try to take financial advantage of the public who might not know that much about vehicle repair.

Worst experience ever! Don t bother setting up an appointment. Took over a hour to even look at the vehicle.

Made an appointment and it took 3.5 hours to get tires mounted. On top of that they damaged wheel and car shakes now when driving. Terrible service and work. Would give zero stars.

I had an awesome experience this evening. Came for a broken tire sensor and Zach was very friendly and got my SUV right in and told me the timeframe it would be completed in. They got my new sensor installed and made sure that my tire sensors were programmed correctly and relearned with my SUV. They got it done quick and efficiently. I was very happy and pleased with the work they completed for me and next time I need more work done I wont hesitate and Ill be back in as I had a great experience this evening. Thank you again!
