Mike was amazing he went above and beyond I would recommend him to everyone.

Terrible people. Picked up my wife s from my AAA request and decided to take the car to his garage instead of delivering it to the location I requested. When we called the extremely rude staff, or owner, I don t know who, told me they would deliver the car in 4 days after they picked it up! Insane. My wife spoke to them on the phone and said so you are basically stealing my car? They responded Then report it stolen! And hung up on her. This place should not be on AAA s list of tow companies. Very unprofessional

This guy refused to take my vehicle to long Island on a triple a call. Said he didnt feel like using a driver for that run. Why the hell are you in business with triple a then? Had to wait 1.5 hrs for another business to get the vehicle. Avoid this business, obviously unprofessional and terribly run business

Untrustworthy and rude!

Mark, the driver was awesome, he was very helpful and even waited with my wife until I arrived to pick her up. Dons was very responsive and responsible with my vehicle. Overall an excellent experience. Most of all, Mark is a great guy who really goes out of his way to take care of customers.

AJ is awesome! We were stuck in a really tough situation and he was so helpful! Give this wonderful man a raise! We love him!

Absolutely worst customer service. Was supposed to update about a battery availability but no follow up even after texting, When called they made it my fault for not following up when I already did with a text. Rude and unhelpful. Go to Ace Tire.

The operator was a magician, getting our NV200 van w/ its broken right front bushing and control arm out of our angled, very steep driveway where it broke down! Somehow he was able to get the van up on the flatbed without further damaging the front end. All this without hitting the low rock wall or our neighbors fence which are in a very tight, ten sq ft area. Highly recommend to anyone needing a tow. I would go out of my way to use them again.

The shop did a great job on my Toyota SUV that got rear ended by a tractor trailer. The car looks like new and they were responsive during the entire time with backordered parts, the insurance company and corporate leasing.

Mike and Don took very good care of us.Very personable too Honest guys and reasonable prices are why these guys are great. Give them a try. You wont go wrong.

Towed car and made Right diagnostic problem

Your driver driving on 123 this deep at 9:54 AM. Is Driving with all of his circus lights on he has his Ambers. An illegal white forward facing grill lights. It is extremely dangerous to drive around with your beacon lamps on. It is extremely dangerous to drive around with your beacon lights on. It is also only lawful to illuminate your beacon in New York State when loading and unloading a vehicle. As soon as the vehicle is in motion the beacon lights must be turned off. We are working with the police to give tickets up in northern Westchester and Putnam. Lower Westchester they write tickets like you wouldn t believe. To people driving around with their beacons on. Please forward this to your training supervisor. And I have that operator retrained and re-certified.

Beautiful night to take the motorcycles out until mine left me stranded on the side of the road. My Wife was riding her bike & we pulled over to call AAA. I was extremely concerned if the tow truck driver whod be towing my 2022 Bike would be careful with my new bike. A.J showed up and was SUPER AWESOME from getting my bike on the flat bed, strapping it down carefully to delivering it Into my driveway, he was attentive, patient, and made me feel comfortable about the task. Reliable, trustworthy, capable auto repair shop. This is a great place - excellent mechanics, friendly, helpful. The owner recently refused a tip I offered after he went out of his way to help me with something unrelated to his business.

Had a tire blow out this morning and called AAA for assistance. Vishnu from Dons was amazing. Got to me promptly. Great attitude from the moment he said hello and was unfazed by a couple of the snags he hit trying to get me going again. Total pro. Made what was an otherwise difficult start to the morning quite a bit better.

My daughters car broke down Sunday, December 18th 2022.All of her antifreeze leaked out of her car. I called AAA for a tow and they sent Mark E. from Dons. Mark was rude and asked me what was wrong with the car. I told him and then he started the car and drove it onto the flatbed. I was extremely upset because there was no antifreeze in the car. He gave me a smug condescending smile and said that I obviously dont know how cars work. I m pretty sure that he drove it off the flatbed also but I wasn t there. You are no longer allowed to drive with the tow truck driver. I will file a formal complaint with AAA tomorrow morning but recommend that you dont have your car towed by Don s. A very bad experience. I respect your support of your employees. It s all about attitude and Mark E. Had a bad one. I treated him the way he treated me. If he had been nice and explained why he was going to start the car I wouldn t have been upset. He didn t. He told me that I must not understand how cars work. I do and I assumed that there would be engine damage. I had the car towed to a mechanic today and the tow truck driver would not start the car because he didn t want to damage the engine or make it worse if there was already damage. He told me that is how his company does business. I respect that. He was nice and I treated him nicely. I will be filing a formal complaint with AAA. Merry Christmas

**Another Complaint about MARK E just like the review from Robert below me** My pick up truck broke down in Ridgefield CT and would not turn on at my parents house and I called AAA. They sent Mark E from Dons Automotive to tow it. I immediately sense a smug attitude from him but dont pay him any mind and still treat him with respect. He proceeds to claim there is nothing wrong with the truck, i let him try to turn it on and it does not turn on. Rather than accept he was wrong, he tells his boss, Don, on the phone that I a. Dont have registration, when I clearly did b. Made up a lie that I am selling this truck for 11 grand to someone?? (I was not selling it and btw its a 04 tacoma with 200k miles worth about 4-5k so I wish I could get 11k!) c. Lied that I did not have a front license plate (I showed it to him and it was in my passenger seat) d. Lied and said the truck was working fine He then left with a smile on his face saying he cant take this truck. I got stuck at my parents house for 4 hours on the phone with AAA who at first said they were not able to send anyone else because they told me Dons Auto said I was selling my truck. Finally I was able to prove I was not selling it and Dons Auto and Mark E were lying and finally they sent me someone the next morning from a different garage.

Fair price great service

Great service and great people. Helped me out of a jam while having car issues on my way to a meeting and they were able to tow and fix my car before my local dealership even returned my phone call to let me know if they d cover the cost to tow me back home to even look at the car. Big thanks to the owners for getting me back home to CT!!!! 5 stars all the way!

I got TWO flat tires on my way to work and Don s auto showed up when I called AAA. Mike was the driver/mechanic/(owner-I think). He came quickly and was so helpful. He gave me car service recommendations, and when those were super expensive, he gave me a personal referral for a rental car place. He changed and rotated my tires while I was at work. Pick up was easy and convenient and very reasonable pricing. I highly recommend!

Got a tow from Dons thru AAA service. The driver Frederick was incredibly skilled - my lower control arm was broken so the car couldnt be moved. He jacked up the car, strapped the wheel in place so he could pull it out of a parking spot, and picked it with the flatbed in a tight parking lot. Not only that, he definitely saved me lots of money with great advice on what to do with the car. Cant thank him enough. Frederick went the extra mile to help me on a free AAA call so he gets my total respect. Folks: dont forget to tip your tow drivers, they work hard to help you!!

My car wouldnt start and I had absolutely no clue why. I called AAA they told me it would be anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes before a driver arrived. Not even 15 minutes after I hung up with them the driver, [AJ] arrived. He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and even tried to figure out why my car wouldnt start. Unfortunately it was my alternator so the car had to be towed. I have had cars towed before, I have never had a driver tow my car like it was his own. My kids started getting fussy waiting for our ride, he showed them the lights on the tow truck and let them see the inside of the tow truck. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND his job description for me. I would and have recommended Dons Automotive to family, friends, and strangers. If I ever need a tow or any kind of roadside in the future, I wouldnt have anybody but AJ, from Dons assist me. I cant say enough good things about him and this company. Side note - Dont forget to tip your tow truck drivers, they work hard and go above and beyond whats required of them. I needed to have my car towed today and was set up with Dons through AAA. Frederick arrived promptly and took extra care when loading, securing and unloading my car, taking into account the damaged axle. A true pro.

I called AAA to get a tow. They set me up with Don s automotive and towing. They came out to tow my car but didn t actually have anyone available to tow it the free 100 miles I get with my AAA gold card. So it got towed back to the shop. Before the tow I spoke with the driver about pricing. He wasn t 100% sure but gave me some rough estimates on repairs. Never once did I confirm I actually wanted them to do anything to my car. But they ran a diagnostic anyways. So I got stuck paying $70 before I could even get my car off their lot. And if I refused to pay the diagnostic fee they made a snarky comment that instead they would stick me with a lot fee. Mind you the only reason my car was there overnight was due to the lack of their availability. So I paid the $70 and now have to try to get reimbursed through AAA. Also, with everything going on with the virus right now it is against CDC guidelines to drive with the tow truck driver. But they allowed it so their driver could get back and do his local work. Since apparently out of town jobs don t appear to be top priority. The only reason they are getting 1 star is because I lost my wallet and they made an effort to help me look for it even though that s not in their job description. However, if I had just gotten what I requested from the start I probably wouldn t have lost my wallet anyways. Stay away. They like to steal your money. UPDATE: They also called me after hours on a non-company phone after I wrote this review to try and scare me. So unprofessional! And as for the response you wrote to my original comment, that makes no sense. I never blamed you guys for the motor in my car blowing. I blamed you for charging me a fee I should have never been charged. Whether it was a diagnostic fee or a lot fee my car should have been towed to being with but you apparently don t have enough employees (and I can see why - I wouldn t want to work for you either). You driver absolutely gave me an estimate. So no that s not impossible. And I never called you and responded madly about the wallet. That was the one thing I actually complimented you on. And 4 days? I called on Monday evening, it s now Thursday (and was gone by the afternoon). Monday to Tuesday is one day. Tuesday to Wednesday is two days. And then there was a partial day today. And lastly you re gonna comment on my parenting and financial situation? You don t even know me. Why wouldn t I want to get my 100 miles with AAA?! That s why I PAY to have them. And I already went out and got a new car. So that shows how much you know. What owner has the time to argue on a google review. Go run your business Mike!

Didn t finish all work that he had to. Then when i start driving car i noticed that plastic around the front wheels and under the bumper never been replaced. It s hangin out and almost dragging at the road. Never replaced behind the bumper metal protection, it s bent . Never go again with this people in any business. They cut the corners but pricing well.

Refused to provide service to a family member with a flat tire on I-684 because it was raining. So, I guess it is okay to leave people on the side of the road.

My Acura TL failed to start on 6/20 at 1:00pm, upon calling my towing service I was hooked up with Dons Automotive via BP Motor club. I contacted Mike by phone at 1:20pm to alert him that my towing service would be contacting him. I was told 90 minutes for Dons tow truck to arrive. I waited the 90 minutes and the tow truck was a no show. I contact Mike again at 3:00pm and he informed me that there were many police calls and accidents and oh my tow wasnt going local, so he stated he could not accommodate me until 5:00pm. Needless to say I contacted BP member services who also placed calls to him to only be told different story. Story to them was first the tow was on other jobs, local accidents, etc. Then the story was from BP Motor that the tow truck was 90 minutes away at another tow job and should now arrive to me by 5:30. Needless to say that never happened. I have now waited for service for 4 hours, only because this was the only tow service associated with my plan. I contacted BP Motor club and pleaded with them to get me a tow truck to tow my car to Acura, they then reached out to yet another company which was not in the area so that got cancelled along with my first tow from Dons. Upon hearing that I contacted Mike at Dons Automotive again to plead with him to please send a tow to me. His reply was and not nice either, oh your service cancelled, I then said I need you to please send me that tow truck..his reply oh, he was on 684 in traffic, so I sent him to another job. Mind you this all happened within 10 minutes of being cancelled...I said please send me that tow truck I have now been waiting close to 5 hours and I need to get home. He said my service had to call him to reset this up. Really now, I certainly had the means to pay for damn town truck. This man was so unsympathetic to a person whos car was disabled and in need tow. He was down right unfriendly and rude....and should not be dispatching tow trucks to folks in need and treating them badly. When the flatbed finally arrived somewhere around 6:45pm the man driving was very nice and accommodating. Whats interesting here, he said he was heading to Somers at 2:15pm and he was rerouted...so hence another piece of this puzzle. Too many storys...all I know is that I broke down at 1:15PM and this company did not assist me at all whatsoever until 6:45 pm, 5.5 hours later. This is the worst towing service treatment Ive ever experienced and I hope others do not need to go through this in their time of need with their car disabled. The tow truck driver was very nice...the truck driver was very accommodating....no reflection of the dispatcher.....sad sad.

The ownership of the business changed recently and its incredibly telling. There is no care for the customer and their needs. I rather try my luck at the dealers mechanic and pay premium than let this establishment take me for a fool. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone and believe one star is rather generous. Please do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else.

Over a year ago this repair shop was sold to a new owner named Mike. Mike is fantastic! He has this shop running extremely efficiently. I rarely have to wait to schedule my car. His prices are extremely fair and if he that finds something broken or work out I didnt know about he lets me know before he does the work. I am a car guy and he is more than willing to explain the issues to me, which some shops some like to do. I am so happy how the shop is being run. I recommend Dons Automotive highly.

I have been bringing all my vehicles here for 13 years as of this posting. I even bring my Corvette Z06 if it needs anything. They always get the job at hand done correctly.
