Midas in Clifton Park

Wastes your time and your money, dont ever come here. Ive given this place way too many chances. Its actually really funny that their new marketing is Dont put up with BS (Bad Service) and then proceed to do that to you. I went to a dealership to put in a new engine (long story) and they told me I needed a new DRIVERS side wheel bearing. It was a really expensive fix there, but it didnt sound that bad so I didnt do the fix, but it eventually got worse (it was quite audible driving at almost any speed), so I went here. I told them exactly what the dealership told me was wrong and they insisted they take a look at it themselves. Sure, fine, whatever. It takes them almost 2 hours before they even touch my car, which was fine they only had like 2 or 3 mechanics. However they spent a whole hour poking around at my car, most of it spent not looking at the problematic area. They did a whole other check up I did NOT ask for, I was already fully aware of the state of the car thanks to the dealership. They finally come over to tell me the quote and theyre like so its actually the PASSENGER side and not the DRIVERS side. They might not be wrong since theres a bit of a different noise on the other side of the car, but the drivers side was much more noticable and that was baffling to hear. They wanted $1000 for both sides and another grand for labor. Sure it was cheaper than the dealership but in what world are those parts $500 a piece??? Rock Auto has them at about $120 a piece. And this is what theyre gonna give you AT BEST. On multiple occasions they have thrown me a $3k bill on random repairs I know I dont need when Im trying to simply get new brake pads. You should avoid this money trap AT ALL COSTS.

My car wiper screw is loose. I didnt understand the problem and couldnt solve it after studying it for several hours. I came here the next morning and they helped me check the problem even during busy hours and solved it professionally and in a short time. And they didn t charge me any fees. This represents their professionalism and impartiality. Thank you very much.

This is the place to go for car care in the CP area. Jon and the staff are helpful and took time to explain what needed to be done to myself and each customer while I was there. No nonsense, they re just getting the cars where they have to be. Don t overthink it, just go here.

I needed CV axle replaced so I went in to get it replaced and 1 month later that axle was loose and there was lot of noise coming from that side so I went back in to get it fixed again. So they told me it was a bad part they changed the axle again but now I have lots of noise coming from that side. Looks like something is wrong again it has been exactly 2 months now Im very disappointed. I think you should give me back my money so I can get this fixed before something else goes wrong.

Well serviced! Came in because my heat stopped working in the dead middle of winter . Parts and labor well priced and they got me in quick! No run around waiting on parts.

I called this morning, made an appointment for an inspection this afternoon. John, the manager, said it would take 45 minutes and I was out in 30. He is friendly, curteous and customer focused. I watched as he carefully explained to another cutsomer what the issue was.

First let me tell you being a female and having car issues has been one of my dreaded life experiences. I find if a female enters any car establishment the first impression is is ding ding ding ... female....no brain....no clue ....Well let me assure you THIS FEMALE.... googles everything. If I cant fix it no one can. Im 50ish and very independent. I may not know 100 percent about every issue my vehicle has but I can do some damn good research and figure most issues out. I dont play the poor me game, I try most anything and if I cant do it Ill ask for help. But being A college educated professional and then a single mom of Two boys , I learned there wasnt anything I couldnt do if I put my mind to it. Some call that stubborn, I call it Life. So back to the Poor girl scenario of broken down car. I refuse to be talked to like a idiot. Ive earned the same respect and clarification as any man out there. So when my daughter bought a hybrid 2018 Chevy volt, I was feeling not so confident as there are soooo many crazy issues with newage cars. But when her car broke down and needed to be towed.....she had it towed to the Midas in Clifton park. I wasnt familiar with Midass work so I was skeptical. Well Midas looked at her car and told us the wire to the battery was not getting power and they couldnt do the work on the car. I was thinking ok they cant do the work?? But We had the car towed to Chevy dealership which gave us $8000. Quote....fixing not only the problem but all the things they felt would need to be touched on in the next year. The $8000. Quote blew my mind. I was not sure where to turn. So I began my research .... the 2018 Volt consumed my mind for days . I want to tell you I ate, slept Dreaming of my daughters damn car....I still was quite perplexed. So I reached out to Midas. Lucky for me you have a fella there named Jon Jarvis ( who I now know is the Manager) Well Mr Jarvis probably got sick of hearing my voice because I called him numerous times In the days that followed as I needed to figure out how to get this vehicle running. Mr Jarvis was patient with me and my crazy ass questions. He would answer my questions honestly and detailed enough that I understood the answer. He never once was rude or impatient with me. And Im quite sure he must have been tired of hearing from me but the expense of fixing any vehicle is overwhelming and Jon understood my concern. He not only exceeded my expectations with my daughters car, but his friendly yet professional mannerism won me over. His customer service is second to none. We just pulled off the lot with a running vehicle and I will tell everyone of Jon Jarviss professionalism and knowledge of fixing cars. He is a great guy and Im glad I got the chance to meet him. Brought my car in for an inspection with no problems with the car at all. I was just trying to save money on an Oil change and regret it. They said i needed $500 worth of repairs for it to pass inspection, which seemed odd but i did it anyway. Then, afterward, the ABS and traction control lights came on even though they weren t on beforehand. They said it d be $600 to fix, and that s with a discount . But those lights weren t on before and now after you worked on the car they come on and you want $600 to fix? Seems incredibly fishy. On top of that, my CarPlay and navigation system stopped working. What did they do to my car? Just not thrilled and i don t think id trust them working on it again i keep trying to convince myself that someone at a chain mechanic has no reason to lie for monetary gain but maybe they do, no idea. Just don t like the feeling from this incident.

Scheduled an inspection for 12pm on a Friday, dropped off my car and said I would get a text update when it was finished. Heard nothing so went back at 1:45 for an update, they hadn t even started the inspection yet. Car was sitting in the same spot that I left it. After inspection the guy comes out and tells me it failed and needs $430 worth of work. Complete lie and I knew it. Took it to another place, perfectly fine. Avoid at all costs.

I don t like to do bad reviews. But I have to for this. I made an appointment online under the impression I d be getting an oil change for $35 but ended up paying $64 because they didn t have the right oil for my car. When scheduling that I thought it would be that price. Best he could do is take $10 off the original $79. Wouldn t give me a written amount for the price until after I paid as well. DON T COME HERE. I m not coming back here again.

Be very careful about getting your inspection at this place. They will always come up with some kind of problem. Please dont fall for it. They are trying to rack up there income. It happens at all Midas not just Clifton Park. Be careful people. I got a new inspection the next day somewhere else with no problems to be found.

Came here for an oil change and tire rotation because my daughter and son in law recommended the Clifton Park Midas. The manager was very personable and took the time to explain other things going on with my Jeep. A plus is that they take photos of everything so you can see what the auto technician is seeing. Was very happy with my visit, and will definitely return for service here!

Brought my vehicle in for an inspection, and they got me right in. John saw my wifes vehicle needed one and got her inspection done as well. They went above and beyond and I would definitely recommend.

This is the slowest shop Ive ever encountered. I came with an app for an inspection at 10am and waited 1h 45m to get it done. During my wait there other 2 customers were waiting 40 min for just a light bulb change when told a few minutes. Another lady was in for oil change and took 1h 30m wait. So be prepared for it to take longer than what you expected.

8/17/24. Told me to contact them and never got back to me... People dont trust anything they say its all manipulative. I went here to see what was going on with a noise in my front end and they told me it needed rotors calipers and brakes on both front wheels and it just had rotors and brakes 3 months prior they also explained that it was because one of the calipers was bad it wasnt I had to take it to kia and they said bad bearings where the issue and the rotors and brakes wouldnt of wore that fast . I wish I could give them a 5 star as JJ was really nice but I came back to try and get a refund and they told me no and I had to give them a chance to look at it, I had made an appointment but because of work which I mentioned as I was making the appointment and they said around 1 I showed at 2 but was refused service and told to make another appointment because I contacted corporate which was no help they were upset.... Ive contacted corporate 2 more times and still no response... What do I do?

This is no average chain auto repair shop. Excellent service. Offers courteous customer reception & knowledgeable advice. Free written estimate without pressure to do any work on spot. Highly professional skills for a wide range of car problems. Courtesy Inspection with photos & explanations while service was done there, covering a lot of hidden spots not readily visible. The manager & mechanics I had interaction with are all very nice people. My first time there, better experience than most previous visits to other repair shops.

I came in for an inspection because I had a 10-day sticker from the DMV as I moved to Upstate NY from another state. These guys were absolutely spot on with the text messages they send you with the results and was out of there in less than an hour! I would absolutely recommend these guys!

The Manager, John, at the Clifton Park Midas has continuously been extremely helpful and forthcoming. I have had service done on my vehicle several time and now my daughters vehicle as well. John always remembers me and my vehicle. All necessary information is clearly conveyed. The customer service is top notch and friendly! Their text message updates and reminders make everything easy. Our vehicles are always ready when promised.

1st time at Midas. I usually go to the dealership, but decided to try Midas which is close to my home. JJ was very nice and explained results of the checkup they do with oil change and tire rotation. He made suggestions as to what should be done at next oil change/tire rotation per reccomendations by Jeep. All in all, I am very satisfied and will return.

Took my Equinox in for an oil change and tire rotation that was part of a promotion. Was told the lug nuts were too tight and theyre unable to rotate the tires since the wheels cant be removed. What kind of car center cant take off a set of wheels?

If you are new to the area and looking for REAL repair shop you need to come here. It doesn t take a week or two weeks to get an oil change appointment! Either is the same day or a couple of days out which is phenomenal for the Clifton park New York area. The manager Jon will definitely take care of you. Come check this Midas out!

Not happy with it

They got me in instantly and Service Team Member John was AMAZING! He kept me up to date on each step as he renewed my State inspection certification. He even discussed local options to find solutions to some minor issues outside of the State inspection requirements. Everyone was friendly and just made my day!

Midas is the service garage you want to get your car fixed. Reminds me of garages in the 70s. Competent, honest and really fast!

Scheduled an appointment to wait for a tire rotation & oil change for 1pm on a Friday. Arrived for appointment and was told by J.J there was one more ahead of me and that the appointment should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes total. I went for a walk and came back after an hour, and the car hadnt been seen yet. Was told by a now different employee there was one more ahead of me. I couldnt trust their word at this point, and frankly hadnt set aside more than 2 hours for a routine oil change and tire rotation appointment, so I decided to make an appointment with another business for another day. Wouldnt recommend this location.

Heard sounds after leaving a parking space. It was at first minor, but as I accelerated to highway speeds the noise increased dramatically. Had traveled from NYC to Saratoga Springs I had to get serviced. I called around and Midas 1689 Route 9 Clifton Park, could see me first thing that morning. To my surprise, the issue was a undercarriage cover. Not some more ominous defect. The manager did not charge me for the service.! I left a nominal tip and was asked to leave a review. John has always had 110% customer service with all my car issues , great work an knowledgeable with any car repair. I recently had an issue with my vehicle at another midas location that was documented. John & Harry were very understanding with my vehicle situation & corrected the dilemma doing the right corrective action. I couldn t recommend midas at this location enough, I feel comfortable leaving my vehicle at any time. John has truly been my life saver can t thank him enough!

This place is the best in the area. They were able to get 3 trailer inspections done and my oil change & tires. Jon & JJ both are accommodating and will def be returning for all my services !!!!

First time at this shop and really appreciated the great customer service. I had four new tires installed, an alignment, and a state inspection and found the prices for both parts and labor very fair. I will be back for other services in the future for sure.

This place is a JOKE! Told me the oil change was $59.99 with the type of car I have and with coupon it would be $39.99 with free tire rotation. Showed up, guy told me no, it s $79.99 regularly for your car. I said okay, checked the website turns out that the actual price is $69.99. Guy, I m assuming was a manager, stated oh well I never saw that before. So he agreed to the price that the website stated and allowed me to use coupon okay fine it gets worse. I left to go to the gym for an hour and returned to see my car still being worked on. The guy working on my car looked like he was nodding off the entire time while he was working. Eyes half shut wondering around after tightening a few lug nuts. Manager comes out and tells me that his employee broke a peice of my car and that if I were to go get a new peice that he d reimburse me since when is it my responsibility to fix your mistake? I took the reimbursement and included it on my bill which was fair because I really wasn t going to accept anything else. This was two or three days ago, I just received a call from the manager stating that they forgot to give me back a piece of my car what the actual heck is going on .. BEWARE, this place is extremely shady and I highly recommend going to your local dealership or Hoffmans for any type of oil change or routine service. -late with promises time frame of completion -broke a peice of my car -forgot to give me another peice to my car. -lied about cost of service. (I highly doubt the manager did not know the price of a standard synthetic oil change) If anything happens to my car in the near future due to any services from this business, I will report to better business bureau as well as your local municipality

Wouldn t take my car anywhere else! John and the team are always so accommodating. They had a super busy day (just goes to show how many people use these guys) and were willing to stay late past their hours to get the bolt out of my tire. Everyone is SO friendly here and very fair. I ve never had a bad experience and will continue to use these guys for any car issues I might have.

I can t begin to explain how much Jon and Xavier helped me today, heard a sound that I can only describe as driving down a gravel road when I was braking. Stopped into Midas and Jon didn t hesitate to take me in. Xavier got my car in and looked over in less than an hour I needed Front brakes because they were grinding and the price was much lower than I expected with a lifetime guarantee on the brake pads. Tried to tell me I needed $900 worth of work for a cat back exhaust replacement to replace the rotted out middle muffler they installed only 4 years ago. I bought the items to fix the issue myself for $110. What happened? This place used to always take care of me.

I highly recommend the location on US-9 ! All the workers were very helpful and knowledgeable! I was in and out in 10 mins for a car inspection and that s the faster I ever gotten one done ! I got an appointment within one business day!

Unless you have a lot of money in the bank, save yourself the hassle and avoid this money trap. I had them lie to my face about a brake bleed screw that everyone knows if stripped, can be removed with locking pliers. They refused to do that so they could charge my sons girlfriend $2400 for a brake job. The vehicle has a leaking brake line. They refused to replace the brake line unless they could replace the entire brake system. Con artists and crooks. Stay away.

We paid $950 to change the rear suspension on an old car. Big scam since it only costs $300. Big margin from this rogue mechanic who fills his pockets! To the thief!!!

Drop car as requested prior to Holiday Wednesday at closing when we could have waited till Saturday to talk car but they choose then and insisted no issue they wanted to work on car Friday Black Friday and knew prior to accepting car we where not returning until Friday night and picking up car Saturday morning they where having difficulty with their electronic pay link system working properly and when informed I did not receive a link insisted on charging storage until Saturday instead of investigating issue with link I called their corporate customer service line and they where able to get me the link immediately they also informed me each Midas operator are independent contractors therefore he couldn t do anything about the experience BEWARE THIS MIDAS IS HAS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IT STARTS WITH MANAGER JOHN they are out for dollars apparently above service.

I was told Ill have to go to a dealership to change a filter because they couldnt manage to loosen the housing. Also claimed they were unable replicate a blatantly obvious rattling that they, themselves, acknowledged and diagnosed a couple months ago. Insulting. Ill take the hint and go elsewhere from now on.

Wanted to 5 star it but it wouldnt take

I went in last minute because my Kia was making a weird noise at 69k miles. Turns out my oil was low. They took their time explaining why my car was making noise and how even a quart low affects my car. The manager even took time to draw a picture so I could fully understand since I m not a car person. My car is now all set for a road trip and I m so grateful they helped! Last fall I bought 4 new tires there too and they were helpful with me choosing ones that fit my budget. Every time I go there the customer service is spectacular and the wait isn t too long.

These guys are absolutely fantastic. As a female sometimes you get a little intimidated when it comes to car repair. You dont feel that when you bring your car here. Ive always had a positive experience here, thanks to John. Ive never questioned the honesty of his team. And please tip your mechanic - a great mechanic is hard to find. They will explain everything to you and will show you exactly what they have found. I would highly recommend midas half-moon. They also have seamless financial help if you need it.

biggest waste of a day and i m i m sure they reuse brake fluid, no doubt in my mind! i went in for an oil change and a brake fluid exchange because it was brown and had high water content as per my tester,(which i know works properly because i used it on my other cars with known good fluid and they are all in the green in my meter. Ii get the car home from midasand it s still brown and has the same water content(on the verge of red on my meter. i called back and had them bring it back in. john bled the lines some more and brown was squirting out. i told him you need to keep bleeding until it runs clear. he said that it s supposed to be that color and that it will never run clear. he was dead serious. i was like whatever. brought it home again and tested it again and it was still brown and the water content was worse! I called back again and talked to John. I asked if they reuse their fluid. he said no. But honestly, what other explanation is there?!! They made it worse! He wouldn t refund me. I have to go somewhere else to have it flushed now or i m going to have some brake problems soon. Don t go there!

This place is great . The guy below about the brake fluid is an idiot. I was there when his service was going on and the fluid wasn t brown. They flushed it twice for the guy & he s an idiot . He wasn t listening to the manager about it having a yellow tint to it but when you research about brake fluid it states it has a yellow tint to it. S hegener should go back to McDonald s and flip burgers

Feb 22,2024 I had an Absolutely Great appt here. My small town shop was closed and after I ran to get an Oil Filter at Advanced Auto bc I was told another shop couldnt do it bc they didnt carry them and if I ran and bought it they would do it but then when I arrived they were over booked. Thankfully I stopped at Midas of Clifton Park on Rt 9 bc Jon Mgr was Absolutely accommodating. He understood I needed my oil changed right away before my kids appts for Noon. I could tell they were busy but he said come back in about 30 mins and Ill get you right in. Also he used the filter/provided discount so I didnt have to waste time returning it. They were Fast Efficient and Accommodating to my schedule and car needs. Thanks Again!

Had a dead battery 20 minutes after I left..the did come out n jump it..also didnt get tire rotation as was included w oil chg . Was told a untrue story about my lug nuts .never going back here.

I was driving on my way up to Ballston Spa for work and my car showed an EPC light. My car started slowing down. I decided to pull off the next exit that was exit 9. I drove to Midas and spoke with the manager on duty, Jay. I usually work with the manager, John. Who is amazing in his own way. Has a great sense of humor and a huge Justice League fan. If you see him, you should ask about it! When I spoke with Jay, he informed me that it could be any number of issues that caused it. But that he would be happy to perform a diagnostic. The technician who worked on my car, Xavier, was incredibly knowledgeable and quick to figure out what was causing my cars issues. It was my throttle. Jay placed an order for the part, it got delivered, and installed. Between Jay and Xavier, I was able to take my car home the same day. I was able to come in, explain the situation, have my car diagnosed, the parts ordered and delivered, and the parts installed. All in under 3 hours. No where else have I received this level of service in the automotive repair industry. This is why I always go to this Midas. Thank you for all the help that you do!!

I must say these guys help me so much, and did such an amazing job on my car. I came in and stated my check engine light is on while I m driving it started flashing right there he know it was misfiring. So he took her in and found every probable wrong with her. I m so thankful for stopping when I did because there was more wrong than just a misfire. They helped me on getting her fixed and back on the road I really do appreciate all the work they did.

Incredible! Jon took my car in 20 minutes before closing and had a full inspection/diagnostic, emergent compressor fix and usual car maintenance completed within 5 hours! I was kept up to date and had photos/explanations throughout the entire process.

Today was my 3rd visit within the last 2 weeks and each time on my end with very short notice John / manager figured out a way to squeeze me in for service . Being a small business owner its imperative that our trucks and trailers are not down for service. The great customer service is sincerely appreciated by your team !
