Matt is the best of the best ! Always educates me on issues with my car how I can avoid issues in the future and is very transparent with what he will be doing and why. This is not to even mention how he does amazing work in such a timely manner ! As a single working mother and student this is major to ensure I am back on the road in no time getting things done without paying an arm and a leg for repairs ! Thanks Matt !

I would love to give this place a good review, but since I never manage to see anyone there, it's kind of hard. This is the second time I tried to go to Matt's for repairs. The first time, I stopped by the shop twice during regular business hours and it was closed. When I finally got to speak with Matt, he was able to fix my car, but closed his shop early without calling me, so I couldn't pick it up until noon the next day (Matt's shop was, again, closed all morning when I tried to pick it up). This time, I called and got an answer right away. I asked if I could drop my car off the next day to get looked at. After a few minutes of fumbling, he finally told me it was ok. I asked if I could drop the car at 9 a.m. hoping I might get it back by the end of the day. He said he wouldn't be there until 10:30. Ok, I thought. Sort of strange hours for an auto repair place, especially since his business hours say he opens at 8:30. But I already had this experience with Matt's place once, and he DID eventually fix my car the first time. Considering his other reviews were still pretty good, I decided to give him another shot. When I arrived at 11 (figuring I'd give him a little grace period to arrive) he was STILL closed. I'll never try calling or visiting this place again. Too bad, too. Reviews seem to really like Matt and his shop, but this level of unprofessionalism was staggering. If I were making a recommendation, I'd say find someplace else and don't look back. Edit: I don't want to drag this out, and won't edit this comment again, but I should clarify a few things in response to your comments. The reason you don't have an appointment down for me is you never made one. I know that because you never asked for my name, phone number, address, or for any information that would identify me or my car. You told me I could leave the car in the morning and drop the key. Given my previous experience, I didn't feel comfortable leaving my car without seeing and speaking with you, which was why I said I'd drop it off once you were open. If I'd left it, you would have had a random Honda Civic sitting in your lot with no way to get in touch with its owner. By contrast, when I called another repair joint in Clifton, all they needed was my cell number and they had my name and all the info about my car ready to go. I was getting a confirmation text about my appointment, before I was even off the phone with them. As for your hours, I get it. I have worked 20 different jobs in my life, and I know things can get hectic, and that times are not always exact. Except, this was not new. This was the 4th time I've been past your shops in the middle of the day and it was closed. There were also at least 2 phone calls that never got picked up. And you know what? I can STILL live with that. But when you tell a customer who has an "appointment" to be there at 10:30 and the place is still closed at 11:00. That's unacceptable. If you'd asked for my phone number you could have, at least, called me to let me know of the delay. I'm sure you're a fine mechanic, but I will most definitely be taking my business elsewhere.

For years continue to have wonderful experiences with Matt working on my cars – supremely honest and deeply knowledgeable!

I brought my truck to Matt’s Auto Service to diagnose a loose exhaust system that I had another shop install. In hindsight I should just hired Matt to do the initial install. He looked over the truck, found the issues with the new exhaust and fixed it right so I won’t have issues in the future. Great experience! The experience was impressive so I decided to bring our minivan to Matt the next week. Needed two new CV joint axles. OEM parts. Quick and efficient! Job well done and the price was right. Finding a mechanic you can hand the keys to with confidence is hard. Stick with Matt’s Auto Service and you’ll be given the red carpet treatment at a fair price. Highly recommended.

I had a really bad battery terminal that needed replacement, and after calling around to a few auto centers that were not able to perform the service of too booked to perform it. I was able to call Matt early the next morning and was told that he would be able to perform the service and can drop my car off at anytime. When I pulled up To Matt's shop I Can immediately tell he was a guy about his business just in the way he kept his shop and parking area, very clean organized and welcoming. Matt took the time to look at the problem and without hesitation stated he would easily be able to fix my issue and have my car back to me the same night. After I noticed the many Services Matt offers, I asked if he can also add a oil change to the list of services, and he stated "For Sure". Most places would tell you "no were too busy" or push it to another day. Matt was very professional and accommodating to my needs , and his work speaks for itself. I totally recommend him to anyone in need of auto Services in the Clifton, NJ areas. And if your located outside of Clifton, it's TOTALLY worth the trip for great service!!

I moved to Clifton about 3 years ago and needed a local mechanic. Matt has worked on my car about three different times and always fixes the problem efficiently and his prices are very fair. He also ordered some Goodyear tires and mounted them for me for a way better price than most. Highly recommend his service. -Prices Fair -Excellent Work -On time
