Fast and professional!

As is typical, you dont know youre going to have a problem with your air conditioning until the first 90° day hits, and that was today. I called this morning and spoke to both Kristen and Shannon, and they were so good, and got me on the books for an appointment for today! The technician, Mark, showed up, diagnosed the problem as not an equipment issue but a power issue. I was able to get my electrician to come over and sure enough there was not enough power going to my unit outside. Mark was patient, running up and down stairs several times in my very hot house. It was the most sincere pleasure to deal with the people at Choice. And Im happy to report that my AC is back! Thank you!

Tech arrived on time and was nice. Took about an hour to fully go thru my A/C spring maintenance.

I had a problem diagnosed by another vendor. The repair was expensive on my 13 year old furnace so I decided to get quotes from 4 HVAC companies. I decided on Choice for a new furnace/ac. Prior to the installation I installed a new Ecobee thermostat and configured it using the existing furnace. Much to my surprise the furnaced started up with no error codes. I informed Choice of the issue and the owner, Dan, was surprised as well but understanding of my situation. After several days of running the heat and ac to see if the problem came back (it did not) I informed him I preferred to keep my existing furnace. He was very cordial about it and will be refunding my deposit. I will absolutely go back to Choice when the time comes.

Work was done well, and workers were friendly and efficient. It would have been good if the team had laid down protective paper on the floors. A lot of dirt was tracked into the kitchen.

I just want to make a shout out to Choice Heating and Cooling in Cohoes, NY, specifically Norm Fields! Had a lil oops yesterday and the HVAC guy mistakenly hit my mailbox, he was so nice and nervous, I actually high fived him. I mean its a mailbox. Anyhoo, I promptly received a call yesterday from Norm and we spoke today to handle the fix, he said wouldnt be today but would be done. Well, my old mailbox had a slight new swing and was positioned ever so slightly toward the ground. I heard the mailman so I ran out to collect the mail if we had any. AND - Much to my surprise the new one is all up..... didnt even know they came. Being in the service industry, I cannot tell you how happy this makes me, I am so pleased with the professionalism of him and his technician. Folks becarefu I just used this company I was told my furnace was no good and needed to be replaced. 6 grand for a new one.my insurance company before approved payment for a new claim to be paid wanted a second opinion so they called another local company. 35 minutes after the second company arrived my furnace was fixed and running. Replaced a motor that was cracked. Even though choice said it was not repairable and the couldnt get the part for my furnace the other company had the part on there truck. Becarefu always get a second opinion when dealing with this company we almost got taken for a ride I am not telling you not to use them I am telling you to becarefu when they tell you your furnace is no good.

The service is not good at all. We were charged for diagnostic, part, labor for a gas leak. The bill came to $736+ and the problem persisted. We got another service came and found out that the replacement valve was defective, the valve was not installed properly and there were other issues contributing to the gas smell. The tech even drilled a hole on the exhaust pipe and did not plug it up. The second company fixed all the problems and charged us $150 less than Choice. I wish I have never gone to Choice in the first place. Expensive lesson learned.

Paul, Dan, and Luke were all great. Paul helped with design options and helping with the complicated rebates. He really explained options in the beginning with a lot of patience. Dan helped schedule, making sure the drilling and install were done in a timely fashion. He kept me informed of job status all along. Luke and his team did a great job installing. He maintained a clean work area, explained how pieces work, how to care for the equipment, and walked me through setting up the connections to Wi-Fi. Luke went above and beyond to get the job done before the holiday weekend, which we appreciate. In general, he had a great attitude and was very professional. He also made choices to replace existing parts to avoid problems in the future (not taking shortcuts). Choice has a great team and did a great job on this project. It helped to have their support for such a big purchase, replacing the most important equipment in our home. Now we are happily no longer heating with oil (Note that we were not incentivized to leave this review).

I had a new heating unit installed by Choice. First of all, their price was considerably less than the competitors. After installation, there was a problem noted with the air intake pipe. Choice was very cooperative in finding the problem (there were actually 2 separate problems from the prior owners) and fixing them both in a timely manner. I greatly appreciated their willingness to explore the problem and then remedy it.

This service call was A/C general maintenance but the tech determined that a part needed replacing and did that as well, covered under our warranty, which was nice. The tech (Aiden) was pleasant, professional and efficient, as has been my experience with Choice employees since we used them for the replacement of our home s furnace and A/C system. Highly recommend them!

Friendly technician, and prompt service. However, $109 for a service call (understandable) and another $107 on top to replace a 5amp fuse sounds a bit shady. On top of that- the tech said the fuse is a special fuse . A quick search reveals its a regular fuse. Happy that my unit is working - however a little dubious of Choice s pricing. Not sure I should trust them in the future for other work.

Choice Heating are the heat pump professionals. Other HVAC companies do it as a side business because they have to, Choice truly understands them and will design a system that works for you. I did a lot of research before bringing them in and they lived up to their reputation. Joe was the perfect system designer, really worked through a lot of complex issues for our install. The installers are knowledgeable and professional.

I called these guys to come out and look at furnaces that were having issues and they were able to determine they needed to be replaced. One was roughly 15 years old and most likely never serviced before, the second furnace was significantly older and likely the same story on service (so I was ready to replace them). They were able to complete each furnace replacement in one day each, and took care of everything in the original invoice with no hidden extras after the fact which was great! The price they gave me right at the beginning didnt change. They were very accommodating with requests I gave for install locations and other things, and were very up front with my different furnace purchase options. I would use Choice Heating and Cooling again for any HVAC needs in the future.

To put it succinctly, the company is penny wise and pound foolish. They installed my A/C system a couple years ago, and although the cost was considerable, I found it entirely warranted based on the skillful workmanship, specifically involving the re-routing of wires that was necessary due to the prior setup being atypical. However, the expectation for a high expense (~$4300 if I remember correctly) is excellence, and at least for my particular installation, they matched it. I had an entirely different experience when I had a diagnostic check to verify that my boiler ignition was faulty. I am at least partly to blame, having suspected a broken ignitor, I should have researched the parts cost, but I happened to be in a rush on a work day. The diagnosis was quick (and the standard $118 fee) and the technician looked to see if he had the part in his truck. I put this in quotes because, in hindsight, I suspect this was a sales tactic. After returning, he said that he did not have the part and it would have to be ordered. He said half of the parts cost was required as a deposit, and I signed off - it was going to be approximately $350+tax. After he left I began considering the possibility of a steep overcharge, but I decided to wait for confirmation. The next business day, Monday, the part arrived. I was able to verify the part was a Nortek Ignitor Kit (903758), which retails from approximately $50 to $150 plus shipping. There are kits that are even less expensive, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding official factory-supply parts. So in the end I was overcharged by at least $200 for a part that has simple assembly instructions included. Which brings me back to my initial pronouncement, for a couple hundred dollars they lost any potential business related to my heating system (as in, its eventual replacement) or recommendations to family and friends, several of whom own income properties. Perhaps they believe the cost-benefit analysis favors this behavior, but it is also possible this is the reason they are only a fringe player in the Capital Region HVAC market: at least for small businesses, customer service dictates who achieves the most success.

Best company! Professional. Will never go anywhere else.. without a doubt supervisor quality work not out to take advantage of you.

If I could leave zero stars I would. The landlord hired these guys to replace the furnace and hot water heater which had been damaged when the basement flooded. They came in the afternoon on a Friday, let themselves in my front door without knocking to bring the equipment through. When they were moving stuff out of the way (which I offered to do and they said they had it) they tossed stuff around and my slipper ended up in the garbage! They left everything in a disarray basically blocking my front door. They failed to finish changing out the hot water heater and furnace (which I have never even heard of taking 2 days before) and left for the day without turning the water back on or even saying a word to me about it. Came back the next day to finish the job and left STILL WITHOUT TURNING THE WATER BACK ON! Had to call the landlord because I don t have access to the basement. I m seeing good reviews from other people so I maybe they don t understand that tenants are people too and that they definitely are not allowed to just walk in somebody s front door without notice make a mess and then leave them without utilities. Sounds to me like they wouldn t have pulled any of that garbage if the homeowner was here. That is almost worse because then it is just blatant disrespect. So, I mean, they did the job but anyone can do the job if you don t mind them being slow, rude, totally inconsiderate, and careless with your stuff.

I recently had a new AC installed by Choice. They arrived at my home exactly when they told me they would and performed quality work at a great price. Everyone, from the woman scheduling the service to the technicians at my home, were very friendly & professional. Choice will be my go-to for any future HVAC needs.

Great service. No heat on Wednesday night. 87 year old father that likes it 75 degrees or he is shivering. I called several places. They could not get to the house until Tuesday after Columbus weekend? Finally called Choice at 8:30am Wednesday. Friendly Tech shows up at 9:30am!! Awesome! Troubleshoots it in about 20 minutes. Has people at the office look and see if they can get the part. They can. Ordered it up. I checked their part prices online, only available in 5-6days not any cheaper, so their parts are very resonable. Friendly Tech shows up Friday morning with the part and we got heat 30min later. Very happy! Great communication with me the whole time. Cant ask for better service.

Waste of money! Charge you trip fees to try to sell you unnecessary parts. Boiler is less than 10 years old and they refused to clean it and said we recommend replacement . SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

We had an amazing experience with this place. Our furnace died and with winter looming we needed help fast. Their team showed up to help immediately, quoted us a fair price and installed an entire new HVAC system in a few days. The quality of the work is astounding, and the installers were polite and accommodating. I will hopefully never have to change this review.

Called for emergency service on a Tuesday morning-furnace blowing cold air-they responded the same day. Technician said he couldnt find anything wrong, he cleaned the burner and adjusted the gas flow, fan speed and humidifier. Charge was $319, which included a $110 service call fee. On Friday night the furnace was blowing cold air again. When I called back they said it would be $185 for the call and diagnostic, because it is now after hours. This fee would not include any work done. I argued that they should not be charging a service call fee as they were only here 3 days ago, charged $319 and did not fix the problem (the furnace is only 4 years old). The dispatcher checked with the service manager to see if the fee could be waived. His responsive was that they would need to run my card to cover the fee, and if they found that they problem was associated to a flame sensor, they would then refund the fee. Needless to say, I called someone else. Unless you have money to throw away, and dont have a 90 year old mother who requires heat; I suggest you call someone else.

I would highly recommend Choice Heating & Cooling. I had continuous issues with an old boiler where i was losing heat every 2-3 days on an investment property, which became extremely urgent given the time of year. I called Choice Heating & they responded instantaneously to come diagnose to see if we could fix it or replace. Being extremely old, i decided to replace & Paul went above & beyond to order a boiler over the weekend & put me on the schedule first thing Monday morning (Thank you Dan!), which was amazing knowing the situation. They also credited me back the prior work they did on it a month earlier to try and fix it, before we replaced it which was also very professional. Chuck & Patrick did a great job on the install as well & were extremely knowledgeable, friendly & willing to answer any questions I had & even stayed late on Valentines Day to troubleshoot a side issue with my hot water tank. Paul also called after the install to follow up & make sure i was happy and everything went Ok. Choice Heating has a great all around team & i will definitely be using them for any future issues.

I recently upgraded my furnace to a natural gas from oil and have nothing but accolades for the two men who installed it. After waiting 5 months for National Grid to run the service line from the road to my house. The two men from Choice Heating (Luke and Joe ) were very professional and hard workers at their craft. Besides doing an excellent job they were able to remove the old one and install my new gas furnace in one day . When the job was complete, They patiently answered all my new ownership questions and did one heck of a job cleaning up at the end of the day. Thank You for a job well done.

Choice replaced my water heater when it stopped working. I called in the morning and they were there in the afternoon. They did the removal and disposal of the old tank and full installation with the natural gas lines and plumbing for the new tank. They were on time and highly professional with their work. They serviced my furnaces last year and did a great job to keep them in good shape. Highly recommend.

Just had a waterfurnace 5 series geothermal unit installed. It looks clean and neat. They went above and beyond to get my unit installed properly. The sales guy George was friendly and knowledgeable. The tech Luke that came to run the install was friendly and answered all my questions. System is running great and for half the price of their competitors! Update: if you are thinking about geothermal go for it! My 5 series unit lowered my electric bill from $325/mnth to $120/mnth

Working with this company was terrific! Installing a ductless system was a significant challenge at our house (two other companies were unable to come up with a good plan). However, between Mike, Dan, and Luke, they worked hard to come up with an amazing strategy that not only works great but looks great! I couldn t be happier with the outcome, and HIGHLY recommend this group.

Kris came out in 90 degree weather, just hours after I called. He arrived right at the beginning of the time window the kind receptionist gave me. The guys showed up early for my AC installation (which was awesome since usually Im waiting forever for late contractors) and worked all day in my 120 degree attic to get me set up. Their supervisor even stopped by a couple times (on a Saturday no less) to make sure things were going well. Really happy with everything so far and would recommend them!

Choice is my 1st choice!

Choice replaced our central air system without a hitch, it was a time consuming job but completed on time. Workers were great and polite. After they were done you wouldn t realize they were here great job on the cleanup. And a big thanks to Joe Carey for guiding us with picking out the replacement system.

I am totally impressed with Choice. I had signed for new A/C with another company, but saw a recommendation for Choice so decided to call. It was during a major heat wave. Choice was able to come much sooner, they were cheaper, warranty was much better. The gentleman who came to figure out what we needed, George, was wonderful - didn t try to sell something we didn t need. The installer, Chuck, and another guy did an amazing job! I would like to complement the crew from Choice Heating and Cooling for the excellent work in installing a new energy efficient heat pump and furnace at our home. Joe who did the original assessment and estimate was very knowledgeable about the various systems available and, of the five estimates we received from various companies, his was the most complete and well thought through. Luke, Dylan and Mike who did the install of the system we re also very knowledgeable and we re customer focused to be sure the system was installed correctly and to our desired specifications and were also friendly and fun to be around. Courtney the office manager was also on top of things and was a key part in coordination of the install and submitting our rebate information. I would recommend them to anyone interested in a quality energy efficient system!

This was one of the best companies I have dealt with in a LONG time, They are a truly professional company from sales to installation. Very knowledgeable staff. The technicians are very good at what they do neat, punctual and knowledgeable . I cannot say enough good things about them. Remeber you get what you pay for and with this company you wont regret it posting a picture of perfection !!

Owned my home for 10 years and back then the furnace was new. I never had any issues so I never had to deal with a HVAC company. A simple thermocupler is a piece of cake, I changed that many times, but this went beyond that when one of the zones stopped heating it was time to call in the pros. . I called Choice Heating and they were very prompt. When they say they will be there at 8am, they are there at 8am, when they say they are a half hour out, they are there in half hour. If only Major cable companies could be so precise. Everyone I dealt with from phone operator, billing dept. and technicians were more than polite and knowledgeable. The day came of the repair, it was early morning and I worked late the night before, so I let them in and went back to bed. When I went downstairs I noticed they had removed my light colored and expensive area rugs on the hardwood floors rather than walk all over them with dirty grungy shoes when going back and forth from the old dirty former coal basement. My home is an old Victorian home, so the basement isnt nice and clean like newer homes, my basement is like a ancient dungeon. They showed a lot of respect for my home and property by moving the area rugs and then putting them back when all done. I will highly recommend them and I will use them again in the future.

Replaced aging furnace, hot water tank and AC compressor in two days. Worked with George in sales to select the right units for this size house and was given several options to choose from. Install crew was very professional and hard working. New furnace out performs the old one, and the house is much more comfortable and it runs quietly. I used Choice Heating 10 years ago, to replace an ancient boiler, in another house. Very professional for that install also. Utica boiler has performed flawlessly, for 10 years. Highly recommend this company!

Turned our Central Air for 1st.time today after 2 hours or so i noticed the hallway light was leaking water..thats directly under the air handler in attic that was installed brand new in 2014...after hour call to choice was pleasant..tech showed up a hour later and i explained what i checked out before calling them..he said let me take a look upstairs we went together..and he found the problem in less than 5min..a pvc pipe burst.over winter prb from water still in it from last summer..no heat in attic..he advised me what.to do next fall.to blow it out w a shop vac after he installed a T pvc piece where it was broke..wish some1 told me to do that before it broke..anyways Kudos to Choice mike obriens.to the lady on the phone on initial contact and to the tech..Good Job!! reasonable cost..after hours as expected...piece of mind now..TY Choice Tom & Sara Lakeview Ave Renslr

Good service explained how to purge boiler system. Not happy on cost. Charged 288 on a feed valve replacement. The valve is around 50bucls and screws on maybe a 5 min job. Kinda ridiculous to charge that much.

When we moved into our new home we needed to have the hot water tank replaced. We werent sure what would be the best option for us or how to get it installed. We didnt even know where to start. But once we spoke with Brian, our minds were at ease. He came in and ran a quote for us so that we could compare our options and costs. We ultimately made a great decision based on his recommendations. He has the knowledge and experience to get the job done right the first time. They even noticed that there was an issue with our furnace, which isnt even why they were there. But they didnt want us to miss it and potentially have to go without heat. It was great of them to be so focused on providing great customer service and quality service for installation. We couldnt be happier with Choice Heating. Look no further!

The technician not only explained the issue but has shown how to read the error codes and given tips on maintenance and upkeep. I would recommend them highly.

Choice Heating and Cooling installed our furnace and AC unit. They did a great job, the installers were friendly and helpful and did the job very quickly. Their prices were very competitive and their follow up service has been impressive as well. Our AC unit had a damaged top grate (manufacturer defect) and they replaced it for us with no problem. I highly recommend them!

I had a no heat call for Choice at 8am this morning 2/14. I got booked promptly far the afternoon. I was called by the receptionist that the tech will be on his was shortly so I left work. It took about 15 mins to get home, The tech (Terry) arrived 5 mins after I arrived. He explained the furnace and how it works to me as no one ever did before. He fixed the problem, gave it a cleaning, and was off in a half hour. Great service! Terry the Technician was awesome!

Heater went out on Wed. Had another company come look at it that night, guy came in and told me it needed a Gas Control Valve, Burners and a Igniter Total cost $1300.00 or Buy a New unit for $3800.00. Seemed confused at the cost I inquired, they were supposed to show up last night to do the work and never did. On to today, Called Choice this morning and Sheila scheduled my appointment in for 12-4. Tech Terry came out and spent some time Diagnosing the concern, found it all to be only a dirty Flame Sensor. $109.00 repair and $1200.00 Savings. Terry was very informative and honest and showed me the basics of the system and how it works. Next time Choice Heating and Cooling will be my 1st Choice not 2nd. I would recommend them 100xs Over and Over again! Thanks Guys!!

These scam artists tried to sell my grandmother a whole new furnace when just a small part was broken. Working up a very dramatic story about why the furnace she has was shot. Turns out that the part plus labor through another party was only 200 bucks! Furnace works great, steer clear of these clowns.

Choice Heating and Cooling had been our go to since we moved into our home in 2016, but only because they happened to be the first company we called and their online reviews were pretty good. Weve never had any major problems with them or our furnace until last month. Our heat kept turning off in the middle of the night during the coldest days and would come back on during the day. Choice came out and quoted me almost $700 (plus the diagnostic fee) to replace the pressure switch and inducer. Sure enough 2 days later the heat was off again. At night our house was going down to below 40 degrees and we have a 4 month old, so it was pretty miserable. They came out again but it had started working by the time they arrived so they couldnt find an issue. They said that they needed to be here when it wasnt working. I explained that it only happens at night and early morning. It happened again the week after when temperatures plunged and I called in the middle of the night, they told me they may have to charge me the diagnostic fee again and didnt make it out until almost 11am, of course by that time the heat was back on. It happened again the next night and that time they wouldnt even take my call until 8am. By this time I was fed up and out almost $800, so I called someone else. The other company came out within an hour of me calling at 2am and quickly diagnosed it as frost in the exhaust pipe. It was a $60 fix and our heat has been on ever since. The other repairman also asked me if they had left me the old parts, he wanted to reinstall them for me so I could call Choice back and demand a refund, but they hadnt. Im not pretending to understand furnaces, and I can imagine that diagnosing can be hit and miss. But when you have a repeat customer already out a substantial amount of money and stuck in a freezing house with a baby it would be nice if they at least tried to make it a priority to get to us. We wont be returning to Choice, I suggest you dont either.
