I have a 1965 Thunderbird convertible. The car is fully detailed and is my baby. I fix everything that my car needs right away and the rear seal on my transmission started to leak. The mechanic that I use for my family car did not feel comfortable working on my classic car so I started to search for a transmission repair shop that works on classic cars. Its not that easy to find. After many calls, one repair shop stood out way above the rest. It was New York Transmission Group. Jeff, the owner, answered the phone himself just like I did when I owned my company. I liked that. There was no doubt in my mind that Jeff knew exactly what I needed and how to do it. From the moment I pulled into his shop I knew I was in good hands. Jeff did not do the repair himself but paid attention to the repair from the beginning to completion. He is a real hands on guy. I liked that too. A big plus is that Jeff does much more than transmission work and works on all cars, new and classics. Business owners know how difficult it is to run an honest business and Jeff came through with flying colors. New York Transmission Group is now my go to repair shop for any repairs to all my cars. A great find for transmission repair. Look, transmissions are complicated and labor-intensive to repair. There s no easy way out of it You re going to be spending a good chunk of change to fix it, so you might as well use someone who knows transmissions inside and out, communicates clearly and stands by their work. I had a transmission that went out in NY (I m a PA resident however) and although I was unable to get my car repaired Jeff and his team were able to make a smooth and plainness transaction to tow and buy my car off of me. I was able to do all of this from PA while he lived in NY. Very reliable and trustworthy.

My clutch failed completely while crossing the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey. Not only did they help me coordinate with Palisades police and Port Authority to get tow accommodations not just for my car, but also for the tow vehicle I was hauling, they managed to get me back on the road 24 hours later. This was fantastic, considering the time constraints that we were under to make it back down south. Highly recommended! Not only are they incredibly professional and rapid, I have every confidence in the repairs affected. Great humor, great service, great people!

I had a major issue last August with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Called NYT and they let me get my vehicle towed to their location and provided honest and timely updates to resolve the issue. I was working on my Mercedes transmission and I had a quick question. When you work on your car and if you call a shop they normally dont answer your questions. Jeff not only took my call, but we did facetime and showed me exactly what to do. Jeff was willing to share his knowledge and help me out. I am in Dallas, the shops here are closed as it was early, so I decided to call a transmission shop in NY, as they are an hour ahead of me. I can tell from my interactions with Jeff that his shop will do a great job fixing your car. NYTG is the best! We live over 350 miles from them but found the perfect used car for our daughter there. Jeff made the experience effortless and went WAY out of his way to make sure we had nothing to worry about. Car was detailed and all the mechanicals were checked and taken care of. He even had one of his guys deliver it to our home. Can t say enough about how great NYTG is!!

My 2016 Honda Odyssey unfortunately had transmission issues and I was referred to New York Transmission Group to fix the issue. Cary and the others were super kind and thorough with rebuilding the transmission. After a month, they also rechecked the van to ensure it was running properly. These guys are professionals and did a great job. No one wants to deal w transmission issues but if you do I highly recommend this group!

Complete waste of time. If you want the run around and time wasted this is the place for you. If you want honesty and a reliable shop go elsewhere.

I had a great experience with NYTG. Jeff was responsive, explained the repair, and answered all my questions. He had his transporter tow my truck up from Long Island into Queens and had my truck up on the lift that day. They finished the work in a week even through the thanksgiving holiday. They beat all the quotes I had been given and warrantied their work. Great transmission shop.

Very honest and good people, I had my 2007 maxima fixed there and they answered every question I had. The car runs great now, the people working there are very understanding and personable. I would recommend this place if you have a transmission problem.

Honesty is the best policy Sweeter when they intend to help you I called for Jeff to discuss a problem. I didn t get him over phone but some other gentleman gave me a slot and told to go over. Reached in time, they took some details and tested the car. And said all good and check engine light should go away. And I came back doing nothing. Business and trust doesn t build one day. They could easily say something like you need this fixes and give a list like I went to other shop and without diagnosing they concluded 2.5k for rebuilding the transmission Guess what those guys even don t know how transmission works. This shop is a gem and the people are grand daddy s of transmission. Hats off!

I ve done mechanical work independently for some time, including engine rebuilds. When the transmission on my 2010 Bentley Continental GT started shifting slowly, I knew I needed a second opinion. Cary was quick and professional. We ended up needing to replace my unit. He got an incredible deal on a new unit from Bentley and stuck to his estimate even though the job became extremely complex. These are the only folks I will trust with my transmission work going forward. Five stars.

Honest and transparent. The owners of the business gave me multiple options and made sure I was aware of all my choices and did not in any way pressure me into any decision. Everyone I have dealt with have been professional and responsive. The shop is clean and well kept. You can tell these people are passionate about what they do and furthermore they do it to serve the community.

In a nut shell Had my transmission rebuilt for a 2008 Jeep Commander March of this year 2022 The rebuild was a bit pricy but my Jeep is full time 4x4 .their work is guaranteed . and they have a 2 year warranty I am very pleased with the work. Jeff and Carey explained all the work that needed to be done they answered all my questions .. Not only is it clear that these guys can appropriately diagnose and fix (in my case totally rebuild) your cars transmission, but they are actually kind and fair. I recently had issues with my transmission and exhaust . Cary and Jeff were very helpful! They thoroughly explained what they were going to do to fix the problem and afterwards gave me a complete recap of what was done and how best to maintain the car. Its an old car and I was concerned about wasting money on it. Both Cary and Jeff made me feel confident in my decision to fix it . I feel I got a good deal and their follow up has been phenomenal! I am glad I stumbled upon them. They even gave me a ride home when I dropped the car off ! In addition being a female, I never feel comfortable going to auto shops on my own. I had a major problem with my engine light in my car. No one else could solve this issue Cary and Jeff were able to track down a new computer for my Dodge and resolve this problem. Both were very helpful and professional.

NY Transmission Group was was referred to me by another shop in the area of College Point. I had visited another shop in the area of College Point to diagnose a top-of-motor issue related to a degenerative ticking noise (turned out to be a manufacturer materials defect whereby the rocker arms prematurely wear and can damage the camshaft and lifters). The owners (Jeff and Cary) showed immediate consideration for the issue (abnormal engine noise), and saw to a preliminary inspection to further understand the issue. They were at all times professional and straightforward, which made my experience a wholly positive one. NYTG expressed real concern for understanding the problem, and through their expertise and knowledge, found the defective elements and fully addressed the issue. They were transparent and comprehensive in their assessment, and clearly communicated both the prognosis and schedule of work to me before agreeing to proceed. I would highly recommend NYTG for their work and professionalism to anyone in need of vehicle internal component repair.

Cary is so nice and professional. My car broke down right in front of the business. He did not hesitate to send his guy to aid me and figure the problem out. Luckily is was something easy to care, he refused to charge me . I have also stopped by to ask some questions in the past and he received me with a smile and questions were answered. Hi everyone, I m from Woodhaven,Queens and My 2019 Dodge Caravan transmission went out on me last week. I googled transmission near me and I had plenty of shops to look at. Ive been meaning to do a review for quite a while. I spaced, but it did give me time to see if my issue was resolved at least. These guys came as a recommendation from a VERY reputable and established shop in Glendale who does everything except transmission work. I took my Xterra in for a transfer case issue....was still pi**ing fluid after already being repaired at a different shop. From the first minute I got there I could see these guys were old school and established in what they specialize in. No b.s...I appreciate that. They arent cheap, but neither is a true repair job. They completely rebuilt my transfer case, flawlessly. They were up front about everything and I had options to go elsewhere. The reassurance that if anything went wrong it would be fixed on their dime went a long way as well....nothing went wrong and its been a year now. I take my Xterra into the mountains and on the beach....the transfer case is crucial. These guys are great.

I had initially gone to a different place with my transmission problem and I was personally referred to Jeff at NY Transmission Group. Prior to going, I called their number and ended up speaking to Cary, Jeffs brother, who kindly and patiently asked me some questions in the interest of not wasting my time or his which I appreciated. I got to the shop and almost instantly, Jeff approached me and to my surprise, Cary had already called him and given him the rundown on my situation. Jeff took his time by explaining certain things to me. He even test drove my car for a while while making good conversation. He even encouraged me to call my dealer and confirm whether or not I still have warranty which I was convinced I didnt but it actually turns out I DID!!!!!.....If he wanted to beat me in the head, he definitely couldve tried but not once did I ever get that impression from him. One of the most honest technicians Ive ever met. Rest assured, once my warranty is up, Jeff and Cary are definitely at the top of my list for repair shops to go to when in need.

Jeff and Cary were absolutely amazing with me. I wasn t sure if it was even worth it to fix my transmission at first being that it s known to be such a big, expensive job. Jeff was completely real and honest with me, he made me feel so comfortable with my decision to move forward with fixing my car. Apparently I also had water in my trunk where my spare tire is and they took care of it, free of charge. The whole job took a little over a week. Jeff and Cary made sure to keep me posted via text which I thought was really cool and personal. I d give 10 out of 5 stars if I could. The price ended up being what was discussed... no surprises. Ok, where do I start. #1. I received V.I.P. service. I went into the shop already knowing what I wanted to have done, which was to have my entire drivetrain system inspected/serviced. Since Jeff took the time to thoroughly tour guide me through my vehicle. He pointed out a few things that I was aware of, and was going to have done at my regular mechanic. Because of the way I was accommodated, I decided to let NYTG perform all the service. Jeff was honest and attentive, best thing about this whole experience is, I didnt feel like I was ripped off. NYTG went above and beyond to accommodate. Side note: Two days before I went to NYTG. I had another shop (L.M.) in Hollis. Perform a wellness check of my drivetrain system. That shop missed the opportunity to get my business because I just got the vibe that it would be a mistake. They said everything was ok and sent me on my way. I had my transmission for my 2013 dodge journey rebuilt by these guys after telling them of my many bad experiences with other transmission shops. When I picked it up I was very surprised at how smooth it shifted, like new. Its 7 months later and theyre changing a leaky gasket without giving a hard time. This is the way its supposed to be. I have Chevy suburban 2015 after 120000 mile my transmission start to act on me I did change the oil twice at 90 and at 120 but didn t help so I spoke to Jeff on the phone he was very knowledgeable of my problem and he told me to bring my truck in it took 3 days and he call me to come and pick up my truck what a great job they did it felt like new also his brother Cary what a gentleman those are the good old guys . thank again

Cary explained everything to me up front, we agreed to go with the work. After our initial talk I was comfortable with the decision. New York Transmission Group paid for the tow and estimate-after the work was done I was surprised how good my rebuilt transmission felt - over all excellent experience, it did cost more than I wanted to spend at first, but the value is there for sure.

I brought my 2001 Jeep to them for a rebuild of the transmission and transfer case. They did a great job for the right price. I had a few minor issues after I brought the car home . Brought a late model Mercedes in for transmission work that was just out of factory warranty. They were able to address the issues quickly and used genuine Mercedes parts for the repair. They even worked seamlessly with my extended warranty company! Richard and his team did a terrific job. Its been a few months and no issues with the car at all. I highly recommend this shop. And if you live in Malba you cant beat the connivence !
