Part 2: Refused an extremely expensive brake repair estimate. Had less work done and elsewhere for much less. Passed State inspection. Some additional work was needed 9 months later.

I understand the inspection process is highly regulated however, it s shady business to be misled that as a mechanic agree to look over a car for repairs in preparation for inspection to then just decide you re not going to do the repairs, inspect and fail the car with no notice to the owner. Again, I understand that they answer to the DMV. But how they went about dealing with it was completely unprofessional. I tried to give them a chance despite what I ve heard but I will never go back to them again.

Have been taking my cars here for many years. Recently had a flat tire. Brought it in on short notice, just before closing. Anthony and crew inspected it for sidewall damage, plugged a puncture, inflated and installed the tire in less than 20 minutes and sent me on my way. Great job!

Anthony is always efficient,friendly and knowledgeable. I have never had a bad experience there. I would recommend Monroe in Glenmont to my children and my grandchildren. That is how much I trust there expertise and experience.

The online scheduling was confusing so I missed my appointment. The manager, Cristal Northup, was very understanding and got my vehicle in the next day. When I picked it up she talked me through 2 rebated that I had no knowledge of, getting me 95$ in rebates. I am very pleased with the technical and customer service.

I got a flat tire and got there about 8 minutes before there wear going to close.. They waited for me, and they fixed my tire they sent me on my way safe again.. There should be more people like this..They know what Customer service is about. Thank you guys very much

I can only speak to the tires I purchased, had delivered to the facility, and they performed the mount and balance. The overall cost was expected, the service staff were polite enough, and the work was done in an acceptable amount of time. On a side note, only being in the capital region for a bit over a year, I am still surprised that turn around on scheduling is considerably slow. Other states, the service would have been a bit quicker, though this isnt a reflection on Monroe, just the area as a whole. You just need to learn patience and accept nanny taxes from the state of new york.

I was losing air in my tire - I called and was able to make an appointment the same day. They got my car in on time, found a nail and fixed it quickly for me. I was very pleased. They were friendly, helpful and knowledgable.

John and Anthony are fantastic. Thorough job, very reasonable prices, quick service and VERY trustworthy. Highly recommend them and Monros. We trust our cars with them.

Prepaid mounting and balancing made appointment for 10 am dropped off truck at 9:30 am was told they would call when done, never mentioned being backed up. Walked to shopping center to kill time. Was supposed to be done at 11 am. Went back at 1 pm they had not even touched it, never called to say they were delayed. Was told would be done by closing time. Had to take tires and leave, now fighting to get back our mounting and balancing fee. No apologies pretty rude!

I ordered 4 new tires for my EV online from Goodyear and scheduled the installation at the Glenmont Monro shop. The process could not have gone more smoothly. I was in and out in 45 minutes thanks to Anthony and his crew.

Writing to HIGHLY RECOMMEND these folks. The manager, John, and his associate, Crystal, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I had called in a panic late on Thursday night to see if Munro could get the tires I needed and install them by Monday morning so my husband and I could begin a long planned road trip. Even though they were very busy and the tires had to be ordered, JOHN MADE IT HAPPEN!! He even matched the price I had gotten from BJs (where I had originally planned to get the tires but who called me late on Thursday to tell me there had been a screw up and they couldn t get the tires in time). Thanks so much!! A major shout out!!

Do not go to this place. On top of getting grease all over my upholstery and steering wheel they want to charge me for adjusting the emergency brake when all it takes is just stepping on the pedal a few times because it is self adjusting. They failed my car inspection when I just purchased a car that was guaranteed to pass a safety inspection in New York and went through a multiple point safety inspection at the dealers. I felt the tire and I did not feel any play in the ball joint. When I stated that this should pass inspection and explained everything that I didn t feel any play in the wheel, they got offensive, asking me if I had a New York State inspection license. Then when I got my car back, it had grease on the upholstery and then the guy was going to smeared it more with a wet paper towel to try and clean it up. This is ridiculous. Then I got home and saw that there was grease all over my left hand after driving the car. This is unacceptable, unprofessional and there should be someway to retaliate monetarily. I learned my lesson about this place the hard way. Please don t let this happen to you.

Without Monro I don t know what we d do. We aren t really car people and are ripe for being taken advantage of. So, we tested it. Monro was the place that was forthcoming and honest while other places tried to price gouge us and pile on unneeded services and repairs. Their kindness and professionalism is unmatched. Initially loved the place. Nice people, thought great workers come to find out the tech didn t lubricate any part of the rear break pad assembly on a complete break job. They never engaged causing my front breaks to take all of the duty, wear out sooner, and caused a bunch of corrosion build up around the rear pads. Would give 0 stars if I could.

I love this place! Completely competent, trustworthy mechanics plus... kind and friendly staff to cushion the blow! One of the Albany areas little gems.

Went in for inspection, they wanted almost $100 for standard size wiper blades. Last time was an $85 oil change and the time before that was not charged the agreed amount to mount tires from tirerack. Will not be returning.

Our sons friends car had a blowout on the NYS Thruway. Once the donut was on, we followed them to Monros. It was late Saturday afternoon, but the mechanics were quick, efficient, and knowledgeable. Thank you!

I brought my car in for its yearly NYS inspection. I knew it would pass, but that my brakes needed to be replaced in the near future. I was given a few different options for repair based on the currently quality of the pads and rotors. I elected to have all the recommended work done at once. I was able to make an appointment for the service on a day and time that would work best for me. I opted to wait at the shop while my vehicle was being inspected. The waiting area was clean & comfortable. The free WiFi available was a nice amenity as I had some work I needed to do while I waited. My family and I have been bringing our vehicles to the Monro Auto Service and Tire Center in Glenmont, NY for many years. We have always been happy with the services performed, and the high level of customer service. I can always trust that the staff and technicians will be honest and forthcoming with their assessments and scope of work needed.

This is my first review for any business. I made an online appointment to get a NYS inspection using the convenient online service. When I arrived I was told that the system moved my appointment because they were overbooked and I was not notified. Apparently this is a known issue according to the man at the desk . I mentioned that someone should probably fix that and he basically blamed me for making the appointment online instead of calling. I am the furthest thing from a Karen bout COME ON! I get why people loose their mind at these people that acknowledge issues but don t take ownership. Customer service does not exist in 2022 especially at Monroe. That guy and this place sucks.. Never again!

They were behind. I understand that happens. I would have liked options such as come back in an hour, for example. Or just tell me that you are running behind. They were very nice though and offered to drive me to Walmart while I waited. I like it there and this usually isnt a problem.

I can t say enough about this location and their staff! I was traveling through the area with my two young kids en route to vacation when I ran over a screw and began to lose pressure in my tire. They took us in and we were back on the road with the tire repaired within an hour. Everyone was so welcoming, kind, and professional....they even set up my kids with a TV show they liked while we waited. Despite having to make a detour for a repair, my kids and I both agreed that we were the lucky ones who got to meet great people that helped our family when we needed it!

Don t even bother making an online appointment. Go somewhere else. Made my appointment the day before, show up at my scheduled time. I was told it will be a 4-5 hour wait for a 30min inspection. It s the 21st century, get your scheduling act together.

Give larger rebates to repeat customers

Ive been driving around for 5 months with an expired inspection... I made an appointment online Wed night for Thurs morning, was out of there in 15 minutes- wow thank you.

Just stopped in too see if I could get my tire looked at (leaking air). The manager said maybe it was a loose valve stem and went right out to see if he could tighten it. Turns out the valve stem needed to be replaced. He brought the car right in and had the problem fixed. Will definitely go back.

My experience was great. My car sounds & runs a lot better than what it was sounding like when I first got my car fixed. I was recommended by my colleague to come her because this is where she gets her car fixed etc.

Wow. I had an emergency with my exhaust system and was from out of town. They looked at it and made it so I could get home. In addition, they pointed out another issue with my front end. They are honest and competent. if I lived in the area this would be my go to place. I cannot thank them enough!

Its a chain shop, sure, but John, Anthony and Dave make it into a real, rooted business. Theyre personable, and they take the seriousness of the repairs personally. I have never had a bad experience here, and the price has never been unfair.

Last minute before they closed life saver. Anthony (I hope I recall his name correctly, 4/12 closing) last man standing before shutdown. Let me stop in as I had a recent oil change and oil light came on with 2k miles remaining. Took a look, no oil. Advised me how to proceed, topped me off and provided a wonderful experience in an emergency. Keeping an eye on levels for the next few weeks and if any concerning changes, coming back because he went out of his way to assist me when he should have locked the doors and left. Thank you!

I went to Monroe in Glenmont after taking my car to another mechanic after they screwed my car up. I was pleased then. I then took my car to a dealership to get a quote on some work and then went back to Monroe. The quotes were just about the same. This is a group of honest people who arent going to take advantage of you. I have all my family members bring their vehicles here whenever they need anything done. I highly recommend this place.

Once again thanks for taking care of my automotive concerns in a timely fashion. It s not that you rush through the work it s you do the work professionally and on time during a scheduled appointment. Time after time! Thank you!

I wish I could give Monro six stars as the good folks working there deserve it. John and his staff took great care of me after another local shop failed to honor my appointment. I was concerned with the suspension and worried that the noises I was hearing might be dangerous. Even though I didnt have an appointment, John had my car looked at by one of his ace mechanics and we discovered, although the vehicle needed some routine maintenance, it wasnt dangerous to drive. I plan on keeping the vehicle even though it is already 16 years old and it needed some new tires and suspension work to make it as reliable as I need it to be. The experience was great and Monro is definitely my new car service place. I highly recommend anyone to try them out. They are open everyday and the people there will try hard to make sure you are treated right. I have been back to Monro a few times since I wrote this review and I want to add that Im more pleased than ever. I cant express my delight about finding an automotive shop that I can trust! To anyone who might lack automotive expertise and arent certain if you are getting the straight story when you bring your car in for service or repair, take my advice and go to Monro. They will take great care of you and you can feel confident that they are doing the job right! On 8/5/21 once again, the good people at Monro came to my aid. My vehicle is running like new because of the knowledgeable mechanics and staff. With over 130,000 miles on it, thats saying a lot! Update, 10/12/21. Had a noise I thought was something with my brakes, stopped by and Crew Monro took care of it in no time and at a much smaller expense than I thought it would be. Great job again Monro!

I thought maybe it was just me and then multiple coworkers said they had also had a negative experience with the service manager. He has not taken me seriously on a couple of occasions. I left and went to a different Monro, was treated with respect and kindness and got the assistance I was looking for from both the service manager and the mechanic. I will be going out of my way to go there instead.

Amazing service!! Me and my friend were on our way to NYC and she caught a flat on the thruway. We went to Monro s and they got us right in and out within an hour! Very friendly customer service and very professional. I would recommend the Glenmont location, this is the best experience we have ever had with an auto shop period.

I have been bringing my vehicle to Monro in Glenmont for almost all of my auto needs for about 5 yrs now. They are always accommodating and explain whats needed or has been done. Prices are fair and I have never felt they did any unnecessary work. I actually brought my utility trailer to them because the wiring had been damaged. John fixed the trailer wiring but found that the wiring in my vehicle was also a problem. He tried changing the plug on the car wiring but it still wouldnt work so he advised me to take it to U-Haul where they install these things. He did not even charge me for all the time he had put into trying to fix it.

Anthony and John are always so helpful and accommodating! Try them once and you won t go elsewhere!

Monro has always provided exceptional service. Not only are Anthony and John, at the Glenmont store, extremely knowledgeable, but they will go out of their way for you. Once John drove me to the coffee shop for my weight. This week Anthony crowded me into a full schedule for emergency tires after an unexpected flat. When getting my routine oil changes, I always get the coupon price, even when I forget the coupon. And they always remind me when my inspection is due. There is no place in town with better service.

John and Anthony are always ready to help, they are fantastic. Give honest and fair evaluation and have fair price. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else.

Great, got me in for my inspection

The manager John always does a great job communicating and delivering on the services promised. They Recently installed 4 tires and performed a wheel alignment I requested (the misalignment had caused premature uneven tire wear on my Highlander). I have had brakes repaired there on several cars as well.

Not impressed, will not return. I had a 10:00 appointment to have tires from TireRack mounted and balanced, unfortunately a deer damaged my vehicle. I wanted to keep my appointment (that took a week to get) so I brought in just the tires and wheels from the vehicle. I dropped them off at 9:45 and was told it would be about an hour or so. I came back in a hour, to find they haven t touched them. They said it would be about a half hour, at that point. I went back in a half hour later and they still haven t touched them. At this point I told them, if they can t handle it, I ll just take them somewhere else. Then he said we ll get right on it. They finally finished another 45 minutes later. 2 and a quarter hour just to mount and balance 4 tires that weren t even on the vehicle. Their service sucks

While driving to NYC for my daughters xmas gift (a weekend at the AnimeNYC convention) my tire was wobbling and I was forced to get off the thruway. Despite being booked solid, they made a spot for us and saved our trip. Extremely grateful on multiple levels.
