A Family Board Game Tavern
This was our first stop during a weekend trip and we couldn't have had a better first impression! Big shoutout to the bartender Chris! We came in late after driving for hours looking for food since everything else was closed. It was an hour to closing but you wouldn't have guessed it; Chris met us with a smile and couldn't have been more enthusiastic to serve us. He made a great drink recommendation and even introduced us to one of his favorite card games. We were the last table for the night but at no point did he rush us out or make us feel uncomfortable. It was truly such a fun experience and I really just wanted to show some appreciation. If you're in the area, this is an absolutely fantastic spot to check out, whether it be for a drink, a game, or both! Thanks again Chris!!!
We just enjoyed 2 dozen wings and while waiting we bellied up to the nice bar for a drink. We were met with a very nice server/ bar tender whom was very pleasant. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. People were enjoying playing board games while eating and drinking. We can’t wait to go back and try more food and perhaps play a game. I might add the place was impeccably clean!!
We visited with family (7 altogether) over the Thanksgiving weekend. The place was pretty busy but everyone had a great time! Our food was amazing: the 86 burger was a huge hit! We tried a few games that some of us had never played before which was so fun. Our waitress was very attentive even though it was busy. The rest of the tables were laughing and having fun too which is always great for atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back.
Rented the entire place for an afternoon and our group all agreed we will be back. There are games for few, or for many, that cover almost every interest. The decor is beautiful, urban with painted exposed pipes and a gorgeous exposed brick wall. Parking can be tricky, but there is an easily accessible, roomy car garage just across the street. Food is surprisingly good for a game tavern, and we found the service to be helpful. Loved the chocolate-covered strawberries, sold them out!
This place was recommended by the staff of the World’s Awareness Children’s Museum. They were accommodating to our son’s peanut allergy. We enjoyed the selection of family-friendly games like Uno Moo, Exploding Minions, and the giant Connect Four. The food and beer selection is excellent! We will definitely return when we are in the Glens Falls area.
We visited on a rainy Sunday afternoon and had a great time. The food was good, typical burgers, fries and sandwiches, with a good selection of beer. The real fun was spending time with the family playing board games for three hours. I only wish we lived closer. As for the table fee, the servers were completely up front with the fee and extremely attentive. I'm not sure what happen to the other reviewers, but the table fee is posted on their website.
Was looking for a good place for five adults and four kids for a meal on a whim and this place was beyond perfect. Service was great and very accommodating with the chaos that is kids (even making just a plain egg for our 7 month old). Decor is well thought out (especially for Harry Potter fans) and the board game collection is vast, with plenty of variety. Will definitely be returning.
My husband and I met up with another couple at Go Play With Your Food, a relatively new Board Game Cafe (right next to Rocco's, which serves phenomenal NYC style pizza, but I digress.) We went in, honestly, with medium expectations and we were blown away. BY EVERYTHING! The service - amazing. Friendly, helpful, attentive, there when you needed them, but not so much that you wondered if you were supposed to ask them to join you. The board game selection- definitely on point. And the food - oh my goodness - the food. Scratch made buffalo chicken quesadillas with really good Bleu cheese on special. Chicken nachos with real cheese and chicken and a bit of heat. Pretzel bites (they look over cooked but were actually perfect) with beer cheese. Brownie sundae with a homemade brownie and good sized (next time I am going for the root beer float). Mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese bites, and more food I can't wait to try next time. $10 reserves a table and we spent 4 hours hanging out, enjoying drinks (good selection of beer, mead, and ciders), playing games, and eating. Yup, no person charge - just $10 for the table for the night. Glens Falls has a great scene blossoming and this unique spot is only going to add to it. But we need it to stay running, so come on out for an afternoon or evening and check it out for yourself. All kinds of games and food - even Dino nuggets for the Littles- so it's perfect for couples, families, groups of friends, and more. 4 of us spent about $160 with tip for the table, lots of food to share, and about 8 drinks, plus dessert (1 hot dog missing from the pics too). Food prices were super reasonable.
This place is a good idea. But poorly executed. As a bar + restaurant it could make so much money but the Staff is clearly happy with not selling food and drinks while people pay their $10 table fees while thousands of dollars of opportunity pass and hundreds of dollars in tips walk out the door . The food is strictly average, flavors are bland, food is made with no love. Menu is huge and none of the dishes stand out above the rest. The bar is hilariously under stocked. The custom drink menu is nothing special it s the same cocktails everywhere and the bartenders are lackluster. Captain Morgan the number one selling spirit in the USA. None. Spiced rum of any kind? None. This place could print money, and turn tables, but mediocre is ok here, while staff tells patrons that the patron didn t order something. You re in sales. Fix it. This place is a miss. Save your money and go to coopers cave if you want to game. Or anywhere else on earth to eat. It s better. You Won t pay your rent on $10 table fees. You ll be closed.
Terrible service I couldnt even get food but the atmosphere is nice with all the games. 1
Totally chill. Great after an early night of dancing.
They are super nice !
Atmosphere was awesome, I came into this restaurant with little appetite but this food was out of this world the menu has too many great choices which made it difficult but my order did not disappoint.
Love the food and the board games are the best!
Best place for some games and a fun time. Family friendly with some great bites to eat.
Go Play With Your Food is not only a great place to have fun playing a game with friends, but their food is delicious and you can make your Great Great nephews happy with a purchase of Pokémon Cards
Great place for food and fun.
Food is absolutely delish! So many games to choose from, I want to try them all! What a fun place to hang out on a cold snowy NY day!
Love the new menu!!
Brilliant concept, great service, food, fun and drinks, what more could you ask for.
This place is brilliant. Great food and family fun! Two thumbs up!
The food was amazing and we enjoyed everything.. Its so much fun! We will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend!
What a fun place!! So many games to chose from! Great variety. The food was great too!
Update!! They continue to publish personal information. This owner was not in the restaurant! The employees/ managers posted my Name from my credit card receipt illegally. The establishment went to facebook and sent a snapshot thru discord messaging to have mutual friends inform me I was banned. As this issue moves forward I will update accordingly as their facts are inaccurate. I look forward to proving their credit card on file statement is a misrepresentation and misleading. Charles Ives Angela sweet, Jason Westcoat, Kristen Shaw, Kevin Malinowski, and Mark Shaw, I appreciate the email to my niece stating that you were possibly getting the police involved in her comment to do exactly what your staff did! We arrived at the restaurant at approximately 4:30 PM today. Nobody in the restaurant except for the server and manager we are approached by the server and told that they needed a credit card on file to be able to be served. After questioning the reason why and explaining that we were not there to play games, we were just there for dinner before the hockey game, She stated that it did not matter it s a new policy for them. I gave them my credit card. She brought it back a few minutes later. I get an alert on my phone Stating that they charged my card $10. The response from the server and the manager was that they ve had so many people walk out without paying their bill. They are now charging everybody a $10 deposit to sit down at a table. The manager stated that it would come off my bill at the end. When I got my final bill, the amount was not off. They ran the credit card for the total amount of the meal. Once again, I brought it to their attention that there was two separate transactions showing up on my bank account for debits at their establishment. At this time, there was one other table in the restaurant they came over to me and told me that the $10 was taking off their bill. i m approached approximately a half hour to 45 minutes later from a person that tells me somebody at their establishment stalked my Facebook got my name off my credit card receipt sent a picture of myself and my minor nephew across discord saying that I was banned from their restaurant for questioning the $10 charge upon entrance/making A scene. Upon this conversation that I had about 45 minutes after leaving the restaurant, I was informed that Rachel, the server told the manager/whoever else they sent the messages to on discord that we stiffed the table/Did not leave a tip. She received $11 and change in cash and nine dollars and change on a debit card for the two separate bills! Would never step foot in this building again. Makes me wonder if it s not actually people walking out on their checks! Almost seems like possibly employee theft! A silly review! To clarify for anybody that we exist when I walk into the restaurant no tables. When they ran my credit card for the $10 fee no tables except for mine a party of four. Talking to the server in the manager there were no other patrons in the restaurant. We went on with our meal we said please and thank you to the server when the final bill came up once again. The $10 was not deducted from my bill. At no time did I approach any table in the restaurant. The one table that was in there while we were eating Approached me after they paid their bill to let me know about their bank account as well. I will gladly allow the owner to post the video and the table as we were leaving to prove to me that there was not a tip on the credit card slip from one of my acquaintances for nine dollars and change. And there was not $11 and change in cash on top of those credit card receipts. Staff sent a picture through personal messaging on discord to their employees and had one of the employees tell me that I was banned from the restaurant for being abusive! I did not know saying please and thank you to your server was abusive. I didn t know $21 plus change for a tip on a total of $90 worth of checks was abusive! No where does it say you must pay a deposit!
So many boardgames, great drinks, really good finger/bar type foods. This place is great to take the family or a group of friends to. The theme throughout creates a really nice vibe to play some Catan, Splendor or Betrayal at House on the Hill.
Great food and great family fun!
Stopped by with the grandkids and they had a great time with the board games. Also, burgers were great. The team was informative and patient. Looking forward to next visit.
I try to come here whenever I am in Glen Falls. The first time I arrived it was after they closed, but I saw the sign and knew I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. Fun atmosphere and good food and beverage service.
One warning if you come in a party of 6 or more there is automatic added gratuity now normally this is fine but be careful if you are purchasing anything but food. The waitress said she would start a tab for me and added the packs I bought to it. I thought this was great until the bill came and then I realized she did this so the auto gratuity was added to the cards as well. I give her credit it is very clever but just a warning to others so she doesn t get you as well. Cards are pricey enough without someone adding a 15% tip
Absolutely amazing!
Just a fun place in Glens Falls
Just some of the best fresh salads. Try the harvest salad you won t be disappointed. Friendly staff and family atmosphere
UPDATE: Like I said, the staff did not mention the fee until we asked about it on the bill. We expressed our concerns with not knowing and the staff chose to not do anything and then audibly mocked us in the kitchen. It would take you no time at all and very little money to put some signs about the fee on the tables or on the shelves that hold the board games since I understand its not always reliable to have well trained staff. Again I do not think $10 is an unreasonable amount of money for what it grants in service. But it is not common practice to read past what you are ordering on a menu. $10 to rent a table whether you play a game for 5 minutes or not. There was no notice of this anywhere but for tiny font on a tiny menu and no mention from staff when being seated or while ordering. Food and portion size were nothing to write home about. Wont return. To clarify, its not about the money or the value. You cant charge for something that isnt properly communicated. Had we known, wed have either gone elsewhere or waited to go at a time when we could stay longer. Its not common practice to read the fine print on the bottom of a menu.
We stopped in for a quick lunch, of course when our bill was handed to us and there was a $10 table fee I questioned what it was and where it said wed be charged that, the waiter said on the menu. Funny thing, our table of 5 was handed 1 menu so i didnt even get to look at it... Burnt chicken tenders, crunchy over cooked fries and a garden salad that had a few shreds of carrots & cheese?... now I see why hardly anyone was in there... P.s. the board game insurance fee should be used to replace some of the games... missing peices and covered in food. *Updated to add: the fee was clearly not communicated which is why we approached our server to ask. The server then saying I should have read the menu is what outraged me. Never did he say it could have been waived (as you posted on another review). So, before you insult customers maybe consider that the staff could have done better too. Also, the multiple people in my group chose to leave reviews.
place is super cool and the food is good and fairly priced!! literally only knocking it down a star because we werent aware that we would have to pay a fee to rent the table, and i dont THINK we missed any sign saying so? its possible we did. either way it wasnt that big of a deal, it was just $10, and you get access to a ridiculously huge game library!
We were just wandering around and saw this interestingly named place. So glad we stopped in. the family had a wonderful time. We need a place like this close to home! Food was delicious. Games were amazingly varied and the service was friendly and welcoming. A great option to spend, few hours playing board games and enjoying friends and families.
The games are amazing and the food is even better.
The food is not good, the cook is very slow and cannot take more than one order, my hot dog order the bread was fried. The food was not good, the cook was very slow and could not take more than one order at one time. I ordered a hot dog and the bun was practically frozen.
This place blew me away. They have SO. MANY. GAMES. (and they are all in really great shape) - Tons of different drinks to enjoy, food is pretty good. Really nice, chill atmosphere. This is great for families, date night, hanging out with friends, or meeting new ones. What a neat idea, we will absolutely be back!
Very normal prices for strangely good food. Staff was very nice and lots of board game options. This was my favourite thing I did in Glenn s Falls
The place is very clean, atmosphere is family-friendly, service and servers were prompt and helpful, and and there are tons of games! I ate sweet fries only, but they were good. Definitely going back!
Brought the whole family, great kids collection and adult selection! Friendly environment and very nice staff. Will be back!
Great place to play and get something to eat
Very nice large space. Open flooring. Floor to ceiling shelves full of every board game you can think of. Everything is set at a nice leisurely pace. You get no sense of being rushed out of there. Food came out fast and hot! Very affordable. Plenty of space to play.
Play With Your Food in Glens Falls, NY. Do yourself a favor and check it out. 600+ Table Top Games which even for me was a little overwhelming but was part of a party of 5. A game was recommended for us, Camel Cup, so that was the game for the evening. Even as someone who dabbles in all styles of table top games the initial hurdle is always the set-up and mechanics. The owner saw we had the setup but was unsure how to initially start the game. He did a tremendous job of giving us key points to keep in mind, Sherpad us through the first few turns, then knowing he gave us the tools, stepped away to have our own A-Ha! moments and really enjoy the game experience as a group. He checked in over the course of the two games we played and was quick to offer friendly banter and make sure there were no needed clarifications on the rules. Best piece of the night: he recommended the next game our group was going to play the next time we get together. As someone who regularly watches How To Play guides on YouTube this already has me stoked for my next visit and having someone in your party with a vague of how to approach a game can make all the difference. $10 gets you(r party) a table / access to their gianormous library of games. I was with a group of 5 at a table that accommodated 6 but beware table space can fill up quick! Limited but tremendously well priced / affordable Food Menu makes Play With Your Food a place you can routinely frequent without breaking the bank. Beverage wise, they offer a select choice of both Draft & Canned Craft Beer from the immediate area as well as the greater Capital Region as well as some domestics. A few Wine, Cider, Canned Cocktail and Mead selections tied in with Soft / Energy Drink offerings (for those longer Twilight Imperium sessions) provide plenty of offerings for all types. I highly urge anyone reading this to get a group together. Get your table then get a drink / place a food order. While your food is being prepared, take your drink and just enjoy that wall of games. Take in the art work, see what pops out at you. Pick the box up, see if it meets your partys group size / time frame. When your food is ready, collectively talk about what you want to play / do some research on the games as you enjoy your food! Once that is settled on, select your game. Set it up. Embrace the experience. Dont be afraid to ask questions or even recommendations. Cannot wait to see this place thrive and grow because its truly a much needed one-of-a-kind establishment for any sort of gaming enthusiast.
This place has an awesome atmosphere. I highly recommend coming here with family or friends. The management and staff is super attentive and friendly, and the game selection is quite impressive and very varied. Its a wonderful and fun way to spend time at your own leisure (you dont ever feel rushed and can take as much time as youd like). The food is also very good and affordable. Highly, highly recommend checking it out!
Such an amazing place!!! So many games and the staff is amazing. A must stop when you are near glens falls.
Love the room. Great idea. I enjoyed learning to play Zombie.
I highly appreciate the interaction between people playing games with each other. I was invited to a table to play new games and meet new friends. Thank you for having a place where I can share and play new games with new people!
Amazing! Great games, drink, and people. Knowledge staff, and a variety of games for the newest and most veteran players. Favorites to brand new games for everyone.
This is a fun place. Tons of games for people to play. The food is good and there are a lot of drink choices from alcoholic to non alcoholic. It is very close to the Cool Insuring Arena and I plan to return often before Adirondack Thunder hockey games. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free rolls for their club sandwiches. Kid-friendliness: The are a lot of games to choose from for kids and adults to play.
I love this place! My family and I were welcomed at the door by the manager. The waitresses, manager, and cooks were all very friendly and genuine. This restaurant is designed for all ages! If you enjoy a delicious meal, or even some tasty snacks, as you play some board games or card games with family and friends, then this is the place for you! There were over 600 board games to choose from! Amazing! We spent a couple of hours here because we were just having that much fun! The best part was seeing everyone in the restaurant smiling, laughing, engaging in games, and having a great time.
This place has so MANY games! We spent over 3 hours playing games, eating food, and having good family fun; we couldnt believe how long we were there!
Great place to play games with friends and family. The pizza was good.
First experience with their food was at the Wednesday Take a Bite and we enjoyed it so much decided to give them a dinner try before we went to our show at ATF. Overall experience was definitely 5 star: staff was friendly and gave great service; food was delicious (we had flat bread pizza, Buffalo chicken quesadilla and a Turkey club) and almost forgot our appetizers of French fries and mozzarella sticks. We even had time to enjoy a few rounds of Boggle. They had games for all ages and we saw people of all ages enjoying games while we were there something for everyone. I recommend you give them a try!!!!
Huge variety of games to play, yummy food. Service staff was excellent and very attentive! Will definitely be bringing my friends back! Food
Such a great new addition to the area! I moved upstate from NYC about a year ago and was missing the local board game store on the upper west side. This place has similar vibes. The owner is super nice and able to answer questions about games and gaming in the community. The board game selection is huge and it is a fair and reasonable price to pay for a table. Plus, they have craft Meade. What else could you want? I can t wait to come back!
We went this place with my friends and we love it. Such a great place. They have many board games, it s so much fun. Also the menu is so cheap. This place is so perfect to hang out with your friends
This place had a great atmosphere and when we stumbled into one of their events the organizers were a treat. Food is cheap but good, the chicken nachoes were great, and the meas selection was amazing. Highly recommend for a family night out.
Had a great time food was amazing had a lot of laughs will be back soon!!!!
they had a ton of board games that you could use. great atmosphere!
Amazing experience! The staff was polite and attentive, and the game selection ranged from things like Monopoly and Settlers of Catan to more complex games for dedicated tabletop gamers. There wasnt a single dish my table ordered that I wouldnt highly recommend, and everything was SUPER affordable (especially in a place like downtown Glens Falls)! Would, and probably will, go again! Kid-friendliness: Although theres a bar, the restaurant is family-dedicated first and foremost. We had no issues whatsoever. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is single-leveled with ample space between tables.
Neat concept where you can play board games and eat food
Awesome selection of high quality games, try the meat lovers flatbread! Attentive staff, great location.
We were visiting the Lake George area the beginning of August and meeting up with my kids and friends for a nostalgic trip down memory lane when we had torrential downpours. This place saved us! We spend 6 hours of eating, drinking, playing and having way too much fun. The space is big, the game selection has something for everyone and the food and drink were yummy! And best of all--the price was right! I can not recommend this place enough! Thank you for saving our vacation!
What a fun experience! Lots of games to choose from for various ages.
Perfect way to spend an afternoon! It s so nice to get off of technology for a bit and enjoy quality time with friends and family.
Company was good but the Food at best was middle school by far! Dino nuggets fit for a kids birthday party! Classico Alfaro was the kicker not my best experience! No worries I will put everything back!
AMAZING place to bring the family for games and great food, highly recommend!!
The food was delicious and the waitress was extremely nice and very helpful when deciding what game would be best for us to play. It was an amazing night out and we all can not wait to go back again! Its my new favorite restaurant!!! I definitely recommend!
Great local spot with TONS of games, quick reasonably priced bites, and an overall great atmosphere!!
Tons of fun! It was a really cool place. I wish there was one of these near me. Kid-friendliness: Kids games too. Food : 5/5 |
This restaurant is a unique combination of board games and food. There is an amazing staff that greets you with a smile, a wide selection of food and drinks, as well as over 100 games to chose from. A great place to spend time with friends and family.
Great family place!!!
Went in and was amazed by the atmosphere and the huge selection of board games! The waitress was very young and inexperienced but must be family of the owners and was doing her best. Waited over an hour for root beer floats, and well over an hour for our food. As disappointing as the wait was, the food came out fantastic! A perfect menu to play board games with your friends and the pricing is extremely affordable. We will for sure be back again!
We had an amazing time at Go Play with Your Food! As someone who isnt usually into games, I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it turned out to be a blast for all of us! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience. The venue is exceptionally modern and clean, exuding a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The food exceeded our expectations in terms of taste and quality. Furthermore, the entire staff was incredibly friendly, polite, and highly professional, making our visit even more enjoyable. Our evening with friends was filled with fun, and laughter and were already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!
It is definitely a neat place with a great vibe but I would not go there for the food alone. The service was a little spotty for a big party and they charged us for somethings we didnt order, but they were trying and very kind on a busy night.
Super fun! Had a blast. WILL BE RETURNING.
Had a blast playing games! Great waitress!!
Amazing place! So many great games to pick from and for all ages! I love the idea that you can sample a game and buy brand new from the display case- genius! Games are clean, organized and well displayed. Everyone at our table of 5 ordered something different to eat and it was all delicious! From a fresh salad, to apps and meatball subs, everyone was full and satisfied! What a great place to bring the family, a group Of friends or for a date night! Can t beat the prices either!
Very fun!
This place was a lot of fun. They had so many games, and the concept was cool. We were not fans of the food. But still had a great time.
This place is really freaking fun! I cant say enough good things... wish I could give 10 stars. Hard working staff, orders of food came out quickly for a large group, kids were having a blast, lots of games to look at and try. Definitely planning an adults game night soon!
Great service and food. Lots of games to chose from. Had so much fun
Pros: Excellent and attentive service, great drink options, affordable table rental, fun and tasty (albeit not Master Chef level) appetizer options, and so many free games to choose from. Cons: Many children can create a hard-to-hear atmosphere this is a family-friendly venue. If I owned it I would introduce carpeted dividing walls or tons of acoustic panels throughout the room, like a library or a high-capacity entertainment venue might have. Summary: Had a blast, and will likely be back. Staff was awesome.
Fun, entertaining night with the family!
What a gem! My partner and I visited this past weekend and had a blast. As board game enthusiasts, it was a great way to try different games that we might not have bought for ourself. There are many selections to choose from, and all the ones we played were in good condition/no missing pieces. We got the cinnamon sugar pretzel bites as a snack and a hot tea. I think for not having a full meal, the food was fine! We wish there was something like this in our hometown!
Great place and lots of fun. Could use a second set of doors to keep the cold air out every time its opened. Thank you for a fun night out with friends.
It was perfect. Some friends came in from out of town, and we wanted an atmosphere where we could talk and not have to shout. The place was clean and felt safe. There was a great selection of beverages, the staff was great, food was great. We will be going back. Parking: We parked n a near by side street
