I’ll give Bill and his crew five stars and kudos for a job well done. I’ve had a 1936 Ford model 68 cabriolet for the past four years. Unfortunately I have only driven it about 400 miles. Brought it down to Cap A Radiator and had it converted to 12 V and completely rewired. All mechanicals were addressed and repaired as needed. For the first time in four years I’m enjoying the car. Quality work fair prices and great people to deal with. I would not hesitate to recommend Bill Carberry and Cap A Radiator. Thanks much for a great job.

I met these guys when they put a flyer in my car at a car show but they are quite far from me. My 63 Oldsmobile had a converted factory A/C but it never worked right. My shop, who basically are really great, played with it season after season but it just never worked. Then I took it to Cap A Radiator. I wanted them to rip out the factory unit and give me an aftermarket setup . "No" Bill said " This is factory air and unusual ..we're going to find what's wrong and fix it right" Within 2 days they had found the problem by taking off the fender where there are some hidden leaking valves. They got the right parts and got the system working after 18 years of other shops trying. That was last summer. This week it was 92 with high humidity and we decided, let's see if it will work. WELL IT DID! People were staring at us as we cruised the highway in a 57 year old car with the windows rolled up. You guys are the best! Thanks.

Thank you to Bill and the crew at Cap-A-Radiator. I brought my 69 Skylark in for a number of issues, including a/c overhaul, radiator and timing chain cover leak. I was planning a long trip in my 50 year old car and wanted to make sure I arrived and returned safely. Cap-A-Radiator did a thorough assessment of the condition of my car. They did a great job for a fair price and found a few other issues that needed to be addressed. I liked the fact that before doing any work Bill had me stop by the shop, showed me the problems and discussed various alternatives for addressing the problems. I feel comfortable recommending Bill and Cap-A-Radiator for work on you classic car, including A/C, Radiator, and General Mechanical issues.

This is the second time I have brought a vehicle to Cap A Radiator and it is the second time I have been extremely happy with the results. The first time they installed the original factory air conditioning in my 1964 Ford Galaxie and did an outstanding job. Just last week they installed power steering in my 1967 Ford F100 pickup. The job was an adventure since the kit that is sold for the conversion did not fit as it was supposed to. Many custom modifications were needed that required a lot of time and engineering. The job is perfect and I can finally enjoy driving it. (and so can my daughter) Many thanks to Bill and his team.

I had my 69 Ford Ranchero towed 30 miles to have Bill Carberry and his crew work on the car. He was also in the middle of moving to a larger shop and was still able to address a broken timing chain and many other issues in a timely fashion. Joe the shop manager was great at keeping me informed about the status of repairs. I'll be returning for a new radiator and repair to my AC system. I would highly recommend them without hesitation for all types of work to your classic car. A trustworthy, honest shop!

This shop came highly recommended. I needed a new engine installed in my 1966 Galaxie. When finished, the car was tuned correctly and all replaced parts returned. Later I came back for front disc brake upgrade, plus new springs and shock. The car handles much better, stops shorter with no fade and less effort. Bill and crew could not have done a better job.

I brought my 1962 Thunderbird there because these old cars need special attention and know how. They did a great job helping resolve some suspension issues and installed a front windshield which I could not find a glass shop to tackle the job. Very happy with all their work and would recommend to anyone needing a step above your normal repair shop

They have done work on several of my and friends cars. They never do unnecessary repairs. THEY ALWAYS get the job done at a fair price. Quality is always less costly in the long run. You get what you pay for. They don't use cheapo materials or parts. They stand behind their work. Nothing is 100%, I had to bring back my 66 Ford after they upgraded it to disc brakes, I didn't like the way it braked & they agreed it should of been better. Not their fault they used the parts that were recommended, the manufacturer exchanged the boosters. They did the swap at no charge. I will always recommend this shop.

I recently discovered that my inspection had expired and I needed to find a shop that could get me in quickly. I gave Cap-A-Radiator a call, and even though many shops were shut down due to COVID-19, Bill and his staff were working. He had me come in the next morning and I was back on the road (legally) in short order. Much appreciated.

I took my vehicle there for some simple wiring issues and button up a few minor problems The quality of work that I received back was worse than a child would have done it Wires were thrown everywhere with either , no connectors , exposed copper wire with no tape. Many of the connections that they did were loose and fell off.... They refused to make good on it Or give me back my money I had to take it somewhere else and had everything that they did redone again Their inability to do simple tasks cost me thousands of dollars wasted because of them

Want to take a moment to say Thank You to Bill at Cap A Radiator for all the effort and excellent job completely re doing my radiator on my 1979 L82 Corvette. The car was sent to ZIPs Corvette in Richmond VA for some work (1 item being, the Original radiator was leaking) ZIPs informed me, that they do not have the same radiator to replace it. However, can replace it with an Aluminum one Made in China NOPE ! I do not live on Long Island anymore. However, know of Cap A Radiator. I contacted Bill via phone and No Problem. He took control and had ZIPs Ship the Old radiator to him. He Re-cored, rebuilt and made it brand new again. Then, shipped it back to ZIPs. It looks beautiful and I am so happy in knowing that the car is still kept as original as possible. Extremely Honest, Informative and reputable throughout the whole process. He sent me very informative reads on the complexities of the radiator and the choices I needed to make in rebuilding it. Bill spent time on the phone with me explaining the items in detail and why each is there and why my choices in the process mattered. Couldnt have asked for a better experience. Great company that still knows how to do this kind of work.

5 star in my book Bill is the man fair honest if you need radiator or transmission work go see them no dissapointments here .

April 9, 2019

Had my radiator replaced ( $450.00 ) and they cut one of the high pressure hoses to the transmission cooling lines without telling me. They replaced the quick connect with a hose clamp. I still had a leak from one of the heater hoses as well as from the radiator cap which they didn t even diagnose. They did offer to fix the high pressure line but I pretty much had to offer to buy the part from the dealer. I ended up going to another repair shop and spending an additional $550.00 to correct their mistake because I just couldn t trust Cap a radiator to do the work properly. Lousy expirence all around. Couldn t give zero stars which is what I feel they truly deserve.

I brought in my 1953 cadillac convertible for some repairs. The work was supposed to take a few weeks and the car was there for almost 4 months. While there the car sustained over $13,000 worth of physical damage to the top, interior and body. Although there insurance paid for most of the damage this was unprofessional and unacceptable. Most of the issues were not corrected and actually some were worse. The oil leaks, transmission leak, radiator work power steering leak were all worse and they were given ample opportunity to correct. The car also developed new problems due to the work preformed as the transmission now began to stick and not shift properly and the car began to stall and bog. They blamed the stalling and bogging on the fuel pump, the carburetor and then the gas. They could never correct nor could they diagnose the problem. After giving ample time I had to bring the car elsewhere to diagnose the problem and confirm the bad work on the other items. Bill was made aware of where the car was and went there several times to see his work was not done satisfactorily. It was also diagnosed that the stalling and bogging problem, he created, was due to debris from the gas tank clogging the fuel lines , fuel pump and carburetor. After replacing the gas tank we had him cut the one he worked on open, in front of us, which showed all the loose debris inside which was the same as what was in the fuel pump and carburetor . To make matters worse he kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the work until we proved it to him by showing him. I told him he was responsible for the bad work and the new problems created and would be responsible for the cost of diagnosis and repair of the aforementioned items . When he would not agree I told him that I would use every legal remedy available to recoup my loss. Before the car went to the other shop for diagnosis , after being paid in full, he would not release my car unless I signed an invoice stating the stalling and bogging problem was due to the gasoline and the problem was new. I had to get the Police there to get the car released. I have tried to work out an amicable repayment but I can now see it will not happen. I had a repair bill from Bill for almost $10,000 and a diagnosis bill of over $5000. I will now hand this over to my attorney and if a settlement can not be reached then commence an action plus report all the above the DMV.

Brought my 1969 Chevelle SS to Cap A Radiator to have Vintage A/C, New dashboard and cooling system installed. Excellent workmanship on everything and never had to return to fix any errors. Very professional the way they do things and always kept me informed of the progress. Highly recommended.

I was in the initial stage of having my 1960 Bel Air restored at another shop. In order to move things along, I brought my radiator to Bills shop to have it recored. Thats when I discovered that Cap-A-Radiator did full blown restorations. I immediately decided to have my car trailered to Bills shop. The shop performed a huge list of tasks: an engine replacement, with all of necessary additional work; installation of a Vintage A/C system; front end work; transmission replacement; installation of a dual exhaust system; upgrades to the steering including the installation of power boost for the steering; replacement of instrument gauges. The list goes on. We ran into a problem with the alignment. Bill and his staff persisted until the problem was solved. A hearty endorsement from me.

Ive owned my own shop and have done all my own work up until last year. I wanted Vintage air in my 69 Camaro. Vintage Air gave me a list of authorized dealers. Bill was one. I visited his shop. It had a mom and pop hot rod feel. His manager Joe was professional and answered many questions on the phone before the visit. While there I noticed signs in Bills store of personal statements made. I call it free speech. Everyone is free to leave if they choose. Weather I agree with them or not didnt make up my mind on why I was thinking of getting my car worked on there. I wanted to speak to him and his workers in detail about the details on the possible job he would perform. I was getting major work done. An engine swap BBC to SBC, Vintage air, serpentine belt system, dash carrier, console gauges, dash pad, emergency brake cable, smoothed firewall, MSD box and other things. We set a date and I was in no rush for the car. It was done in a timely matter considering nothing on a classic goes smooth. If you think it does stop wishing TV and try it. Ive had one issue with a braided line and a faulty part provided by vintage air. Bill fixed the Vintage air block and ran down the a/c line issue. He stood by his work so with that being said Id recommend Bill to anyone who knows what it takes to do this kind of work. If you have a show car make an appointment so the car is always inside like I did. Bill will be installing my Fitech system soon.

Great shop with great employees they know how to do the job in a timely matter. Its nice to see classic cars being restored back on the road again!! Last time I had my car worked on I stayed around just to see the cars and how they turned turned out I was amazed on what they do. When I asked the owner if I can ask questions about what else they do he was more then happy to answer each and every one with detailed answers. I would highly recommend this shop as I will be returning with other work when needed.

didnt finish the job they put the aluminum radiator in mean while when the guy took out my coolant censor and then he said it broke and he didnt put a new one in and now I have my coolant censor on now and every time I start my car I here a beep beep beep beep... and then he said that will be another 15 to 20$ for a new coolant censor and they he said he scrap my brass radiator which he got money for my radiator and then the bill was 464$ and then if my car was overheating I would not even know and he didnt even have a coolant censor to put in in the first place I would not even give a 1 star.

I have three collector or classic cars. Bill and his crew have worked on all three. I found the shop to be very honest and reliable. These cars are not the easiest to find parts for and Bill went out of his way to search for some very obscure pieces. When a part just didnt exist, Bill would discuss alternate solutions with you.

I just called this shop and talked to an extremely nice guy. He explained all that would have to be done the to the radiator for repair. After explaining I had a factory warranty, he told me told me it would be cheaper for me to pay the shipping fees back to the factory rather than have it serviced by them. That is honesty you do not get from repair shops these days. I will do business with this shop in the future!!!
