Putnam Radiator in Mahopac

I had to replace the radiator in one of my wood chippers and the manufacturer didn't even have any. A friend of mine recommended Putnum Radiator, so I gave them a call and made sure they could help me. I brought my chipper up there and was informed I had to take the radiator out myself but, since they neglected to tell me that, they sent someone out free of charge that day to pick it up once I got it out of the machine. It took about a day for them to clean it up and test it. I was informed I should replace it and that they could build me one that would be stronger than the existing aluminum one and would end up costing less than the origional replacement. They built it within a few days and it fit and works flawlessly. I would definitely recommend them and will be using them again I'm sure in the future.

I just picked up a gas tank from my classic VW beetle that Putnam Radiator boiled out and cleaned, and the outcome was amazing. Not only did they take care of the inside of the gas tank, they cleaned and removed all the rust on the outside, as well as spray painted a coat of primer on the exterior to protect the exposed metal. I am very pleased with the service and attention to detail.

They are a no nonsense operation they repair you radiator on sight. If your equipment is not repairable they have the inventory and knowledge to get you a replacement. I have had 2 hydraulic lines made there and just purchased a new radiator for my international truck. Thank you. For all you do.

Brought them a radiator with a tiny leak. Asked what to expect to be charged and was told “$50-$80, depending on how many leaks”. Got it back 3 days later for $110 and when I reassembled, it leaked exactly the same amount in exactly the same place. Went back and asked for my money back. They immediately said that I must have damaged it. While I have never been a professional mechanic, I have personally done the work to restore 7 antique/classic cars in my life so I do have an appreciation for the care, attention, and craftsmanship that goes into proper mechanical work. So I guess it’s their word against mine. Anyway, after insulting and badgering me, they finally agreed to give me my money back. So for that, I’ll give them one star instead of zero.
