Absolutely super place to get your car serviced. They do a thorough inspection of your vehicle, alert you to anything they find, then provide options for service. I went in for an oil change without an appointment and they took me in within minutes. I forgot to mention my car had hesitated when starting a few days earlier. They told me my battery was low and replaced it on the spot. The bonus was the battery was still under warranty so all of the work was done at no charge to me. Great service and great people.

Its really unfortunate that the first time I take my car here for an oil change and tire rotation, they manage to break my wheel lug stud and are telling me I have to pay to fix what they broke. $20 parts, no problem.$100 labor, what a joke. Go to a shop that will take responsibility for their mistakes.

These guys are not the cheapest but they will absolutely get to the bottom of your most difficult car issues. I usually go to a cheap mechanic for simple stuff like brakes, shocks, exhaust, etc. But in my most recent scenario, the cheaper mechanic couldnt solve my complex electrical issues. So I went to Arndt and they figured it out pretty quickly and I was very impressed with their expertise. Thanks.

Had my oil changed and it was the best experience ,nice staff ,clean bathrooms -have you ever been in an auto mechanic shop where the bathrooms are just black and gross? They had the cleanest bathrooms , a nice waiting area and it was just the best experience and the price for an oil change in today s world was 40.00 out the door. I will be taking my car over there more often because they re not price gouging like all the other area automotive Mechanics that I ve come across, Arndt Automotive definitely have earned my business for life .

Corey Arndt ordered a Ford Pinion yoke from us East Coast Driveline on August 6th, 24. Part was delivered to him by August 12th. Part listing clearly says it is non-refundable and cannot be returned if wrong part ordered. For this reason it was not approved for return. We received a chargeback more than a month later and they are keeping the part. Do not do business with these type of people who like to steal from other companies.

I got a flat on my postal vehicle while on the route the other day, and got towed to Arndt Automotive. They got the tire patched, mounted and balanced and had me back on the road in under an hour and I was able to finish my postal route! Thank you guys so much! Best service!

I was driving thru on my way from Milwaukee to St Louis for a work meeting when my Pruis check engine light came on...I called a few shops in the area and Arndt Automotive told me they were busy but I could stop in and they would see what they could do...they ran a diagnostic on my car right away and told me it was my water pump. It was close to closing time but they said they could have the parts needed first thing in the morning which they did... given my situation of needing to be in St. Louis they put a rush on my repair and got me back on the road that morning and I was able to make my meeting. I cannot say enough good things about Arndt Automotive and their repair shop and customer service they went out of their way to get me back on the road quickly, and above and beyond any service I have received before. Thank you so much you saved the day for me for sure!

I recently brought my car in because of a radiator leak. The staff were so patient and kind to me, they did a fantastic job and I got my car back in just a few days, in the meantime they gave me a loaner car. I was very impressed with the lady at the counter, her customer service was outstanding. I highly recommend this business. Keep up the good work!

I made a bad choice and went somewhere else on impulse, Arndt Receptionist was very cordial, did offer me a loaner for an urgent repair, adding more information for a second and third visit, second visit was very detailed on an old car that wasnt road ready, the car was put on the road just fine after the work was done. Third visit was a follow up for recommended service.

Leaving my review in the middle. Upon leaving my other review, they reached out almost instantly saying they could do the job with cheaper parts, keep in mind, this option was never mentioned to me when I turned down the service in person. I had to leave a negative review for that option. Despite the new quote, the labor fees with the discount were still high. Maybe go here if you have a single issue and know what a fair charge is, but I m certainly never taking a car here even though I live a block away. Never took it to another shop and just ended up selling the car, but every single person I shown that quote to, (one being a mechanic at another shop), said that was too high. Original review below: Well, after going here for a diagnostic of what a squeak noise could be, I get handed back the list of repairs needed below. The prices seem a bit steep and I will be getting a second shop s opinion on it. If they find a majority of these issues aren t really an issue or that Arndt s quote for these repairs is higher, my rating will drop to 1 or 2 stars. If their quote was around what the next shop I go to s quote is, i ll bump this review to 4 to 5 stars. I already got quite a few second opinion s saying that this is double what labor, parts, etc should be. I also can find the parts online for way less as it s an older GM vehicle, which shares parts from a lot of other cars near the same year. Really hope their prices match, as this mechanic is only a couple blocks away from me.

Tire busted a hour away from home. Towards the late afternoon Arndt ordered my specialized tire and got me back on the road. Also, fair prices as well to go with good work. If in the area definitely recommend!

Ive been taking my cars to Arndt for years and theyve always done a great job. This last time, they worked quickly to get my car done in time for me to drive to an important appointment in Chicago. Their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Their work is reliable and thorough and their prices are competitive. They gave me a loaner car which I used that afternoon and returned the following afternoon. It was helpful but cost me $30 in gas because its an older, inefficient SUV.

Don t go ther they will ripped you off for just a supposed complimentary inspection they charge 88 dollars allegedly for brake inspection anywhere you go they will do it for free I ve never felt so scammed in my life if you are looking for a good decent mechanic try Ak mechanic in Hampshire

Worst automotive center I ever have taken a vehicle to from customer service,to all the lies they told me about my vehicle took it in for a oil leak said they ran dye through engine to find leak they lied .said it was my oil filter leaking a lie .a passenger valve cover lie .said it would cost 861 dollars to fix . Tail light burnt out they quoted 115 dollars to replace bulb . I could go on . Beware before taking your vehicle here ,waste of time and a joke .is what they didnt realize I do mechanic work I told them what was wrong. They insisted on the diagnostic inspection. Total ripoff id fixed it myself if I had my tools and time . Beware of this shop they double price and lie .

I have been going to Arndt Automotive for years. They are always friendly, and knowledgeable and quick. I will continue to go to them.

UPDATE: I did take my car to the dealer where I was provided a brand new car as a free loaner. The dealership also did a software update to the engine, complete diagnosis, and complete vehicle inspection, for no charge to me even though it wasn t warranty work. The free loaner you offer is great but in the end, the loaner car cost me $113 as there was nothing fixed on my vehicle. Communication is an issue regardless of how many cars are in the shop. There is a receptionist, who could handle calls, or return calls for the advisor . I should have read some of the other reviews before taking my car in. I paid $100 for a diagnosis that would have been free at AutoZone. They were unable to locate the problem, and want an additional $180. I called a dealership where I take my car for service, and a complete diagnosis is only $160. If the car is serviced at the dealer, the $160 goes towards the repair. I had to call Arndt Automotive three times to inquire on the status of my car. They were not good at returning calls, and I felt like I was getting the runaround. I go to pick my car up, it s still in the shop, and they cleared all the codes so that the dealership couldn t easily locate the issue to be resolved. The reception area is nice, quick appointment, communication poor, intentionally cleared codes, and prices are higher than the dealership.

Do not go here for a tire!!! I got a tire for my Chevy and it coated me over $300!! When it went flat and I went there to get it fixed they charged me $50! I told them that I should get a free tire with the road hazard plan but they claimed that they did not charge me for that! I hadnt even have this tire for a month! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY FOR A TIRE HERE!!

Our motorhome had a serious rear axle problem as we were passing through Illinois. Kim got us in quickly. Corey and his guys listened to our description of the symptoms and determined the problem. They creatively came up with a solution since the part was not available. We were on our way in a few hours, and everything is performing perfectly. We even had the privilege of meeting Coreys grandma, a lovely lady and matriarch of this family-run business. We only wish we lived closer so we could always bring our business here.

On the pricey side, but friendly and a nice facility

Im very happy with the service we received at Arndt Automotive recently. We had a 2010 Mazda that been just sitting in our detached garage for more than two years. Mice nesting, cracking hoses, rusty brakes, old gas and oil were just some of my concerns. Arndt made a complete inspection and provided a comprehensive report with recommendations. They did a great job getting our car up and running without braking the bank. They handled the job exactly as I had hoped. Very friendly and responsive staff. Excellent communication.

Came in for an 830 appt. I was looking for a trustworthy hometown mechanic. Their mechanic I had spoken to previously was sick, so I was relaying the issues to the girl at the front desk, while the owner and another mechanic listened from the other room. They didnt bother to come out and talk with me, instead, making a remark about my changing a part before they took the car. I said to the owner, Im looking for a TRUSTWORTHY mechanic and he replied, I dont want your business, leave. Not the version of hometown I was hoping to find.

This place charged me for servicing our 2017 Honda C-RV that was under warranty several hundred bucks. They also wouldnt release my vehicle unless I paid them in full and they didnt even repair it. The dealership did. If this isnt poor service, I dont know what is. Dont let them rip you off too. Take your business elsewhere.

My car was misfiring and had check engine light on, they diagnose the car and I was given $284.82 bill. They overcharged me and the receptionist demeanor was bad.

Great service on my Hyundai Sante Fe. Quick response and diagnostic testing to locate the problem with fuel getting into oil Replaced fuel pump, oil change and made sure the problem was fixed and my car was safe. Having a loaner car from Arndt Automotive made this repair process so much easier for me. Thank you Arndt Automotive! Top notch service!

The shop charges double what others do for their labor. They arent up front whatsoever with their pricing. I had to specifically ask about what services would cost otherwise if they would conveniently forget to tell me. Youre better off going anywhere else. They wanted to charge me almost $500 for an oxygen sensor replacement that should cost $150.

Less than a year ago, I was visiting my then-fiance in the Dekalb area. I had a tire go flat on me the morning I needed to drive back to Peoria to go to work. They worked quickly to get new tires that would work for me on to the wheels despite being extremely busy at the time. I was very grateful. Fast forward a number of months and I am now married in the area and my wifes car was acting up. Something was rubbing hard in the suspension and estimated cost was something like $800 which I was fine with because I trusted them. We went back to pick up the car and they said it wasnt as bad as suspected and it only cost us a couple hundred. They could have easily ripped off another $600 for this job without us realizing it. I appreciate their integrity. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Had a vibration when braking. I thought maybe I had air in the lines. I paid them for a brake inspection. They said I needed all new brake pads, calipers, and rotors to fix the problem. This was gonna be $2000. I told them to put my car back together. I went and bought all the parts and fixed it myself. Upon removing the brakes this is what I noticed. All 4 sets of brake pads looked almost brand new. (Got Pictures) Calipers we re all in perfect condition. Yes all 4 of them. The only issue was the front passenger rotor was cracked in half. So not only we re they trying to replace perfect parts but they didn t even catch the issue. I would call this robbery. They just wanted the money. It makes you think how many people they are lying to everyday to make money. I wouldn t recommend ever getting a service done from them. So again, they wanted $2000 when the issue was a $75 rotor. Disgusting way of doing business.

I cant even put into words exactly how unhappy I am with this place. But Im going to do my best. I needed an ALTERNATOR replaced and out the door cost me $875.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone that I talked to said I COMPLETELY GOT RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEN!!!!!!!!!!!! After I walked in crying to get my car I drove off and it was running worse than it was before I took it there!!!!!!!!!! Come to find out they left pieces off my engine and I found them in my back seat 2 days later!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I went to Auto Zone and begged them to please put it back on. Then they said part of it was BROKEN!!!! Then they said that a part of my engine was NOT CONNECTED!!!!!!! They were kind enough to fix it. I drove off from there and my car ran GREAT! I will NEVER EVER go back to this place!!!!!!!!!! HIGHLY Do NOT recommend this place. I mean first OVER CHARGE me then not even FINISH the job by putting my car back together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fixed thungs without permission and wouldnt let me have my car till I paid for them

Just called today Fri. Nov. 26, 2021 to get an estimate on a serpentine belt replacement. A simple easy preventative maintenance type of thing and nothing too difficult which I can do myself but unfortunately do not have the time or place to do it myself. Was told by Andy that they would need to inspect the vehicle and it s operation to make sure that s the problem . Um no Andy there is no problem I just want my serpentine belt replaced because it s kinda getting old and you don t NEED TO SEE THE VEHICLE JUST TO QUOTE ME A PRICE on a $30 rubber belt that takes 15 minutes to replace. Then he compared it to going to the doctor and asking for a heart transplant without knowing what s wrong . Um No Andy nice try but HUGE DIFFERENCE there. Anyone could SEE the serpentine belt is old and we don t need to be a heart surgeon to figure that out. Heaven forbid I didn t ask Andy to replace my shoe laces because I d be tripping everywhere I walk. I ve been hearing WAY TOO MANY issues with this place and this is my 2nd poor experience there and clearly the owner and/or leadership cannot or will not take any accountability or necessary ACTION to correct this issue. Instead I m sure they will, as usual, give another poor excuse for their poor service and customer service interactions and will kindly throw in the thank you stopping by Arndt Automotive just for good measure. Altho I m sure other people may have good experiences with Arndt Automotive but YOUD THINK THAT THEY WOULD DO EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO RETAIN A LOST SALE. Maybe my serpentine belt wasn t profitable enough for his business during this busy holiday season. **EDIT REVIEW ON 12-26-21** This is in response to the owner who replied to my review. You say that you are unable to give quotes over the phone but this is exactly what you have done for me and for other people that I know quite often. Change of standard operating procedure Andy? If that s the case then at least tell the community that you re not doing what you used to do for the community. You cannot give a simple quote on a little piece of rubber called a serpentine belt? That s ridiculous Andy. I wasn t asking about rebuilding an engine or replacing a head gasket. It s a piece of rubber Andy. It takes 10-15 minutes to remove the old one and replace it with the new one and you know it. This is not rocket science and doesn t need an examination by your staff to determine how much work is involved. If more work on my car was necessary then you could always TELL ME AT THE TIME OF THE JOB! HELLO? If your business cannot simply give a fair and reasonable price quote on something so simple and practical as a basic serpentine belt replacement then your business is not worth my money nor anyone else s. If I could give your business a zero star as a review especially regarding your pathetic response I would do so.

Would AVOID this place if at all possible. Had a trans cooler line leaking took it in for service. Once I got it back drove it to work the next day and it was leaking 10x worse. Took it back to them and they stated the tech didn t tighten the fitting into the radiator enough. However they stated it might leak antifreeze now due to the fact the radiator is cracked at the fitting. I asked if they were going to fix the radiator since he tightened the fitting too much and cracked it. The manager said it was like that when it came in. I might be young but I wasn t born yesterday. that s what I get for not just doing the work myself. I hope this persuades people to find a reputable shop to do business with instead of this joke of an establishment.

Being a mechanic for my profession, I do 95% of my own work. However I needed tires and an alignment done on my 2003 Honda Civic. I had hit a snow bank in winter and replaced the wheel bearings and got by. I have a trip coming up out of state and wanted an alignment and new tires installed due to the car pulling hard right and did not blink an eye on what shop I was going to use to get the services done. I understand what goes in to the jobs performed on cars and certainly do not trust everyone with my vehicles. Corey and the team at Arndt are second to none explaining absolutely everything that went into my car to get it back driving how it should . They worked with my schedule and provided a fast turn around with an incredible eye to detail getting my car driving like new. Give them a shot with your next repair as the staff makes auto repair enjoyable and more importantly honest. Fabulous car transmission repair!!

This is one of the best repair shops that I have ever experienced. I drive a really really low quality piece of junk vehicle (kia) and it breaks all the time so I know what Im talking about. It has not broken since Ive had a repaired at arndt automotive! I thought these guys would specialize more in German repair but I was relieved with their expertise on my Korean and junk. They treated me like family I would recommend them to anyone even my ex mother in law!

They did a great job fixing my husbands car at a very reasonable price. We were so happy I left my car to have the breaks looked at. We prefer them over a dealership.

Great shop great techs and owners

This place is an absolute JOKE! They told my husband at noon to come bring our van down to change a tire to a spare, that no one was ahead of him, they were open. So being in a small town, he goes and instead of switching out the tire that should take all of five minutes, they move the van to the side of the building and proceed to EAT LUNCH! Then when he asks why they werent changing the tire, they reply, Well you shouldnt have came during lunch WHAT!? I specifically asked who it was that said that and then gave the reply and the OWNER said I did and shrugged his shoulder when I asked why he would say to come down right now they had no one in front of him. Then when I go down there 6 months pregnant to ask why they would carry themselves as such a poor business especially towards a local family, they have NO ANSWER, laugh in my face and call the police. I have never ever dealt with such a poorly ran business and to be one in the very same town as I live, is just a sad and pathetic joke, they deserve all the negative reviews Ive heard about them from word of mouth and online. DONT VISIT THESE CON MEN UNLESS YOU WANT TO WATCH THEM ALL EAT LUNCH!

We paid Arndt to replace our brakes and pads on our sedan. Since this day, weve had an embarrassing amount of brake dust on the rims!Ive been told they used the cheapest parts to complete the work and this is the result. Part of my career involves driving and I am embarrassed for clients to see my car in this condition. We have to constantly pay to take it to the car wash. I tried contacting Arndt multiple times about this work with no response... We will never bring back our vehicles or recommend their work.

Had a motor home that would not start. It was too much trouble to tow, therefore they make a service call and quickly solved the problem and the motor home was on its way quickly.

The Arndt family has serviced my vehicles, and 4 other family members, for over a decade. Excellent customer service, never do any work without prior approval, will tell me what they would do if it were their own car, and I never have any doubt of the work quality. Recommend in a heartbeat!

There was no heat or sense of urgency to get anyone done and out. Overpriced and underwhelmed. Thats what I think.

Had a light come on while I was driving, called Arndt right away and they told me to come by a few hours later. They fixed my car while I was sitting there and the price was even cheaper than they had originally quoted. I highly recommend them!

Arndt Automotive was great! Its worth the drive. They take great care of you and your vehicle. They explain everything clearly, the prices for their service are good too! I had a loaner vehicle in a matter of minutes. They phone when you back on time and treat you like a real person, they just care!!

Finally! Honest mechanics! I sent my daughter here because of the great reviews and we werent disappointed. So many other shops have over charged her for work that didnt need to be done. These guys only fixed what was wrong and were candid about what could wait. I will feel safe going back to them for all future work!

This seems to be one of those rare places that actually understands customer service and doing honest business. I would highly recommend them based on my experience last week. We recently bought a used Honda Pilot that needed tires and an alignment because it was pulling to the right. We took it to Arndt to get it checked out and get it aligned before we got new tires, so they aligned all four wheels but said it wouldnt drive straight still until we got the new tires. We paid with a coupon and got the alignment for something like $85, which seemed fair for a 4-wheel alignment. We got the new tires a few days later, but then it seemed to be pulling to the left a bit at highway speeds, and the steering wheel was a bit crooked. We took it back to Arndt and they drove it again and rechecked the alignment and said everything was aligned correctly (and gave us a printout again to show the numbers) so its just the nature of it that it might pull slightly to one side sometimes, which I suppose is probably true. I did ask them to try to center the steering wheel better because it seemed a bit crooked regardless, and they adjusted it and made it nearly perfect. They didnt charge anything to recheck the alignment and re-center the steering wheel. Everybody we dealt with seemed very kind, and they wanted to make sure everything was right and we were satisfied, and we are.

Terrible craftsmanship covered by friendly customer service. A close friend referred me to Arndt auto when i was in need of brake lines for my 2005 Chevy impala. Worst decision Ive made in the past decade. The woman i spoke with was extremely friendly and helpful... I thought. She told me it would be $80 to tow my car to them and i would receive a free quote. Two days later(after calling them to inquire about the quote ) i was told that the brake lines were all bad and it will need bleeder screws. $986.94. I called around and was quoted $450, tops. After telling arndt i was going somewhere else, they agreed to do the lines for $500. I agreed. Five days later(after calling them again) i went to pick my car up. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor, since they didnt bleed they system right and my exhaust was hanging off the vehicle and touching the ground. I told them about it and they said they would bleed the brakes again and fix the exhaust. Four hours later and the brakes were the exact same and they wire tied my exhaust back up. My exhaust was damaged before i took it to them but the point is i paid them almost $700 and the car was not road worthy when i picked it up. I had to spend the rest of my weekend bleeding the brakes and fixing the exhaust. They also tried over charging me for towing. No exaggeration, every question i asked the supervising mechanic he responded with I dont know . I paid and left. Worst automotive shop Ive personally ever experienced. Customer beware!!!

I have been a customer at Arndt Automotive for over 5 years. They are honest, fair, very knowledgeable and accommodating. I appreciate that they also check my vehicle over and advise if something needs taken care of, or if it s a safety issue, or if it s nothing to worry about . They also stand behind their work ( and parts). The check engine light was on and they discovered it was a part they replaced last year. They took care of the new part and labor and didn t charge me. I was very appreciative of that. They always tell you what they find, and how long til they can have it done, and keep you updated as well. They don t repair anything without your consent. Everyone there is friendly and patient, and they have a nice waiting area as well. I highly recommend Arndt Automotive.

This was my first time using their service. When I arrived they greeted me very friendly. Had a free inspection done. They called me to the back to observe the issues and not to just take their word for it. Unfortunately I got some bad news about my auto. They took as much time as needed to explain to me the issue and to make sure I understood everything that was going on with the auto, so I did not feel rushed nor pressured to make any decisions on the spot. They were very honest about the news but also very sorry for the bad news I received. This is a family business, and you can tell it is with the down to earth employees along with the pictures and licenses hung up on the walls as you first come in. You can tell they take pride in the business and they are the kind of shop that would treat you right ALWAYS. I highly recommend, and I will definitely go back to get further quotes for possible service in the future.

This was my first experience with Arndt Automotive. I brought in a used car (about a month ago) that I was looking to purchase, for a free inspection. Not all places offer a free inspection, so I was thrilled to save money. There was no wait, I brought the car in and they immediately took the car for a test drive and listened for problems, as well as put it up on the rack. I felt the inspection was thorough and it made me feel safer about my purchase. The few problems they found, I can deal with. They made sure to let me know which one was a priority, and which could wait. There was no pressure to return to them for the repairs, although they did give me reasonable quotes when I asked. They only asked if Id leave a review and consider coming in when I needed an oil change. Thank you! Desk and maintenance staff seemed friendly. I was happy with the service I received as a non-paying customer, and would expect to feel the same had I been a paying one. As a side note(in the event that such things matter to you) my children attend a local school, so I have heard the Arndt name a few times in conjunction with the family being involved in the community and giving back.

I m a college student with limited funds and they truly told me what needed to be done versus what could wait, and even had the courtesy to list out things to keep my eye on with my car. While I m living in the DeKalb area I will always be a customer here over anywhere else!

They are the only auto repair shop I go to. I ve been with them for 2 years with two vehicles and they offer the most honest and best services with fair prices. They are also a very friendly family/staff! I am especially in love with their deals and service discounts, oil change services, and free inspections. I had a good experience with Arndt Automotive today. My brake lines were rusted and they replaced them same day!

I walked in yesterday to have a possible leak checked out. I was greeted and asked what was going on. After a brief explanation, they took my car into the shop right away. They tested the AC for free, and let me know that everything in the system looked good. The leak turned out to just be condensation from the AC. Customer service is great. Honest consultation/service. Clean waiting area and shop. They have been in business for over 25 years. There is one concern that I have, that hasnt yet been brought to their attention: Since driving off their lot, I can now hear a knocking noise that is coming from the back of the car. Im unsure whether its the muffler vibrating against the car, or something to that effect, but I do know that the sound wasnt there until after I got my car checked out here. It hasnt affected the way the car runs. Perhaps something got bumped slightly out of place as they hoisted the car up. At any rate, Im still on the road, and the inspection was free. Overall, I am very happy with their service, and would recommend Arndt Auto to other car owners.

These guys suck! Quoted me something ridiculous like $400 to replace a lug stud, saying that the only way to get clearance to put in a new one would be to replace the wheel bearing as well, and I come to find that all you really have to do is remove the heat shield on the brakes. Honest and fair? I dont think so!
