I asked for my car to be fixed so that it would pass inspection so that I could sell it. The mechanic then did $500 in repairs and told me there is no way it will pass inspection and that it isn t worth doing any work to due to the defects, some of which were visible without having to hook the car up to a computer. I went to the garage to ask for my keys so that I could have my car towed away. The owner refused and an argument ensued. I walked outside and the owner followed, standing in the doorway. He cocked his fist back like he was going to hit me before his employee got in front of him and got him to go back inside. Now his entire workforce is lying about the false pretenses to do the work and one of them even threatened defamation if I posted this review.

My car was having issues with the brakes, where sometimes the wheel would start shuddering, and my brakes would make a grinding noise. I brought my car to the shop based on an ok experience I had in the past and also because Croteau s has very positive reviews. They looked at my car and said I would need both my front rotor and brake pads changed, as well as both control arms. This cost me over $1300. I decided to bite the bullet and agreed to have the work done. After getting my car back, only a few days later, my car had even more issues. As I was driving down the Thruway, the wheel of my car began to shudder really badly. I could smell something burning and at one point I couldn t accelerate. I had to turn the car around and drive it back home. I drove it back with my flashers on and reduce speed to avoid having the problem happen again. This is not something that has ever happened to my car in this severity. I called the shop after the weekend and they said they would take it in and look at it again. They now said I needed to have both my calipers and front hoses replaced an extra $379 for this. This was with an apology that it should ve been caught prior, and so they had permission from the owner to reduce the price . They were also trying to tell me they needed to flush my brake system, in which I had to remind them they did this already. I told them I wasn t going to have the replacements done and that I would have a family member do them instead. I ve been to multiple mechanics over the last couple of years when I had a different car and I felt like each time I was given false information and told I had to pay an exuberant amount of money. Unfortunately, this place is no different. After paying over $1300 for repairs, my car is now worse off than it was before. This is very concerning for me and has left me feeling I ve once again been taking advantage of. If you are willing to pay a lot of money to have your car worked on here and it doesn t bother you at all, I would say go for it. Otherwise, I would not recommend going here. The reviews are incredibly deceiving and don t align at all with the experience I had. The one positive thing I will say is each person at the front desk I spoke with was very nice.

The skill, dedication and care they commit to each repair is palpable. Malta is fortunate to have a family business that excels at every level and is staffed by a group of professionals who actual care about their customers and their vehicles. I highly recommend and I wouldnt go anywhere else for my automotive needs.

I m going to try and figure out a way sun this up. 1) fast- I was warned by other people shops are in 2-3 plus week waits. My car was in and out in a week. 2) really friendly- I called so many times. Between my anxiety and trying to coordinate a 3rd party into the mix, I called a lot. No one seemed annoyed or anything like that. 3) price was more than fair- I asked for an estimate so I could figure out how I was going to pay. The first estimate was about average but I trusted my car to them. The actual invoice was a good amount lower. And , nothing worse than having to pay more than quoted, right? Thank you for taking care of my mom mobile, my family practically lives in that car during the week!

We were towing our camper up to Lake George when our truck starting smoking. I called a lot of shops and they were the ONLY shop willing to look at our truck. Yesterday I had a flat tire and after calling around to a few places I was told to call Croteau towing. I got a fast and immediate conformation and was told hed be there in 20 minutes. I dont many places that would claim that, but wouldnt you know it, 20 minutes later Tyler showed up. From the time I called and got towed and tire replaced ...16 miles down the road, it was just under an hour!!!! Ive seen pitstops at a F1 race take longer! Mavis and Croteau Towing should be thanked and recognized for their professional and prompt service. It is rare these days to get such great service. Thanks again for a job well done! Best Rich

I recalled reading many reviews in NEXDOOR and Facebook about the great automotive work of Croteau and Sons Service Center experts in automotive repairs. They are located close to Luther Forest which is easily walkable to their service center. Well this past weekend I bought a pre-owned vehicule that I encountered frustrating issues with the battery and associate parts. I had the vehicule towed to Croteau where I first met the very friendly Beverly, the owner who immediately set me up to troubleshoot the battery issues and also other needs I required to insure the car would be property serviced. Beverly called me with the testing results which was far less severe ($$) than ot could have been. Beverly and her son were very gracious in explaining what the issues were. They also performed an oil change and scheduled an inspection later in the week, all on the busy Thanksgiving holiday week. Thus I had found a decent business in the neighborhood to have my car serviced. I recommend and thank Beverly and her sons for a job well done - youre the best!!

Croteaus gave us wonderful service on having our truck serviced.

I have been going to them for years and never had anything but great service. As far as being honest, I had to have an extended discussion with them to replace a front wheel bearing. They were hesitant to do the work because they were not able to replicate the problem and didnt want to do costly, unnecessary work. I explained the only way I could get it to squeal. They followed what I said and heard the problem. They replaced the bearing and charged 20% less than any other quote.

My Hyundai needed a bit of work. Crotous took care of it all. I should of done it earlier. 4 ires and a bit of suspension work and This thing drives and handles sooooo much better. It feels stable and doesnt sound like a rattle box any more

Exceptional service! I had an emergency where my brake line leaked and my brakes were not functioning. I dropped my car off at night after it happened and my car was fixed on the spot by the next afternoon. Highly recommend 11/10 experience. Super friendly family atmosphere too!

We needed inspection and a window switch repair. They were very courteous, finished when promised, and charged nothing for trying to fix the window, which had to go back to the dealership.

I had a faulty fuel gauge and broke down on I87 with the family en route home to Philly, called this good jawn and Beverly had 2 gents with a tow and transport van out in like 15 minutes. Courtesy van ride to Bentleys for lunch until it was ready an hour later. Fantastic experience.

I m giving two stars because the staff was super friendly quality of work on the other hand was another story for me. I had a spark plug going bad so I had the shop replace all spark plugs. My jeep still wasn t driving right so I brought it back a week later. They replaced a coil pack. A spark plug blew out and I had to have my jeep towed back to the garage for the third time!! In three weeks! They said they checked the whole vehicle over and didn t know why that happened and everything was good to go! Well another week later a different spark plug blew out! I have been dealing with issues for four weeks since they replaced the spark plugs! Needless to say I had another garage fix this problem and now I am out the money I spent the first time to have it fixed , towed and then the spark plugs Fixed for a third time!

We moved to the area in September 2018. A friend from church recommended this garage for my inspection in December. I was having problems with antifreeze leaking in my van this past month. I called and they got me right in the next morning. Great service, affordable and very friendly. We will definitely go here for all of our vechicles needs.

I was passing through the area with my FL plate and had a noise coming from around a tire. I knew it was not the tire itself, but based on the symptoms it could have been very minor or very major. I did not want to continue my trip without knowing and/or fixing the problem. The owner put me at the head of the line, and had one of his mechanics test drive it with me, and he then put it up on the lift and found the problem was a plastic shield that had come partially loose which was intermittently rubbing the tire. He removed the broken shield, which is a redundant part, and sent me on my way for a very reasonable charge. If I lived in the area, or am ever back, I would use Croteaus again. He was helpful and courteous to me and the other customers he dealt with while I was there.

My car needed a new battery, I purchased the battery but needed it put in. I went to Croteau s garage 45 minutes before they closed hoping they would be able to help. Without any questions they took my car in and put the battery in! Kind and friendly service. I m new to the area and if my car needs any work I will be going back here!

I felt that the people doing the work on my vehicle did not do it to specifications Or did it wrong I feel that it was done very poorly I feel that I was overcharged on labor one person gives me a quote of one price and said it wouldn t be any more than that and then another person tells me by bills 10% more than what it should ve been so I think their scam artists and will get you for every penny they can stay away from that business run away

Knowledgeable people and good service.

This business has a towing component, and as far as service goes they are ok. But beyond that they will not provide accurate pricing or service. Do not use them. They removed the driveshaft from my vehicle to replace a fuel tank and never returned the drive shaft to the vehicle. When I discovered this they lied saying it was rusted and no longer usable. Nowhere on my paperwork did they say this, and when I returned to them they claimed they were not responsible. Now Im out $460-$500 for a part they literally stile from my parts car. Dont use them, if u need a tow because you are stranded, get towed somewhere else fir the work, because they will rip you off

Tower Beware - My wife and 2 teenage daughters broke down on 87N, not far from Saratoga, with their car almost on fire. The Fire Dept and a State Trooper soon showed up to assist. The owner of Croteaus then showed up. He began berating and verbally harassing my wife and 17 year old daughter. My wife and daughter were hysterical due to the yelling and behavior of Croteau. Why? Because we wanted to tow the car to a garage other than his. It was so bad that the State Trooper had to intervene. The Trooper was kind enough to drive my family back to the garage where we had the car dropped off. Once there, Croteau was disrespectful to the shop owners. If at all possible, do not get your car towed by the company. Do not have any work done by this company. This man is a terrible human being who yelled at and verbally harassed a scared mom and 2 teenage girls on the side of the road. What kind of a man would do that? I hope he felt like a big shot for the rest of the day and weekend. Big tough guy. 0 stars out of 5. I wish I could give negative stars.
