Got my mk6 water pump sorted as well as a good carbon clean. Appointment was easy to make, staff was a pleasure to work with and the work itself was exactly as advertised as per their astounding reputation. Car runs and drives like a dream ready for another 75k miles. Returned in December to have my timing chain and intake manifold replaced. These guys went above and beyond for me but I can’t seem to find how to leave a new review but another 5 star experience for sure!
Very unprofessional. Answers the phone with an attitude just saying Hello... So I ask if this is Marcs VW and he says "Nope, Used to be. Marc retired". I ask "okay what's the business name now?" And he hangs up on me. Funny because the listings on Google all say Marcs VW and the damn sign on the door says Marcs VW but apparently they want to create customer confusion and get bad reviews. 👎🏻
i had my 2016 GTI brakes replaced here. they installed it incorrectly and i had to pay $2k to get it fixed at the dealer.
Absolutely outstanding service. I took my 2011 TDI sportwagen here for a timing belt/water pump/etc. service. Plus oil change and serpentine belt. The guy I dealt with (I forgot your name bro sorry) gave me a fair price for the work and had my vehicle ready on time at the end of the day. I would absolutely recommend these guys to work on your VW. Also he took time to help me find a proper sized replacement alloy wheel.
I’ve been bringing my Volvos there for about 10 years. I saw a new sign outside this morning. Marc retired. Same mechanics. I am happy with the service I’ve received over the years and hope it will be the same. Reasonable prices and mechanics knowledgeable of working on foreign engines.
Marc assessed an unusual noise my car was making and diagnosed the problem accurately. Marc was very professional and honest about the repair work needed and performed it in a timely manner, at the quoted cost. In addition the other guys I ran into the shop were nice and courteous. If your'e looking for a honest mechanic who does honest work, look no further.
I've enjoyed the service and help of Marc & Co for over 15 years. They are always helpful in advising how and what to fix on my Jetta diesel, which I owned from 66,042 to 274, 724 miles. They'd still be keeping it going, but I've retired and can't justify a second car. Now they take care of my wife's 2012 Mazda just as well. Over the years, we've seen it all. The car just kept runing (48+ MPG on the last trip) and the maintenance was reasonable. I always felt I was getting the straight story and honest advice. They make appointments for the work and the work gets done on time! I highly recommend Marc's VW for anybody and any car! Happy Motoring, Dan
In 2017 when my '87 VW Westy started making ugly noises up in the mountains near Lake Placid, I limped down to Marc's place. They diagnosed the bad water pump in minutes and jumped right on it to get me on the road again. He also gave us a lift to the Mill where we could hang out and sip iced tea all day while he installed the new German pump, still going strong in 2024. He said he was paying it forward. This saved our vacation and I can't thank him enough! Solid work and a good price.
One of the best repair shops I ve gone to and very punctual.
Now owned by The Car Shoppe
The guys working there were nice and helpfull
Good work and honest people. Brought my Alltrack in for a replacement thermostat and waterpump.
Good prices, knowledgeable and flexible with my requests. A+
Thorough as can be.
I took my vw in to have my thermostat changed and everyone was very nice and professional. I was extremely pleased with the price as it was half of what the dealership wanted and within a day I had my car back. I was finally able to have my car inspected, they even got my windshield washers working again and they filled it without me asking and didnt charge me for it! I will go back for the rest of my cars needs. Thank you everyone at marcs!!
Marc is awesome. Hes knows everything about foreign cars. Quick turn around and good prices
I have brought cars here for service for a few years based on a strong recommendation, but have gradually come to question the value and service. Today, I was charged 94 dollars for an inspection and oil change for a fourteen year old Dodge. They never looked at the broken window, the main reason I brought it there, because they didnt have time even though I asked for this repair when I made the appointment. Then, when I went to pick the car up right after speaking to the owner who told me they would be open for a half an hour, a mechanic tells me he went to the bank. I waited about 15 ot 20 minutes for him to return. No apology. No hope you werent waiting long. I really felt ripped off and disrespected.
My car has been sitting at their shop for 4 months now, I was originally told it would be only a week, I had my car towed to them on May 22nd and it is still sitting on the side of their building and hasnt even been touched. I have called them multiple times asking when the car would be ready, reminding them i was told it would only be a week, all the car needs is new control arms and fuel line. They wont tell me when they can work on the car, I keep getting excuses as to how its been put on the back burner and they kind of forgot about it. Stay away from them if you car doesnt run, they will just let it sit for months until they decide when they want to work on it. About to have my car towed out of there and brought to another shop, no one should be waiting 4 months for something so simple.
They where great. Thanks,it took a while but they found the problem and fixed it. Highly recommend. Many thanks gentlemen.
Awesome service as usual!!!
Hes a friend of my husband s and he restores vws and Porsche .reg newer ones to.good guy and good prices. Happy Holidays and.
Marcs is a prime example of a car guy doing what he loves. His shop is surrounded with cars awaiting his staffs t.l.c. Hes honest and tells it like it is when you take your sick baby to him. He has some used cars available for sale. Ill go back with confidence.
I had been experiencing a lot of issues with my vw for over a year . I stopped by on my way home and they checked my car out and told me what was wrong with it . I scheduled an appointment with them to have parts put in and they were so wonderful to work with . I will continue to use them.
Ive owned VWs and Audis - this is the only place Ill take my cars. These guys are great, and do exceptional work.
they are awesome, very knowledgeable and professional!!!!
Great shop! Knowledgeable Team!
Marc is a gentleman. Honest and straight forward. He does good, efficient, and quality work.
Excellent service glad I found this spot!!
They know VWs in and out. Quoted the right price for front strut replacement. Very friendly people. This was my first time here and will be back for any service on my VW.
I been going on and off to Marcs for a few years. Now they are my only shop for my two Passats and my daughters Jetta. This is more of a old school car repair shop. Nothing fancy about the building or waiting room to wow you, just the fact they do great work, and they are honest and reasonable on cost. They also told me they do work on other cars than VW. Now my sister in laws goes to them with her Kia.
If i could give them 10 s i would !! This place is Amazing, i was passing through town nobody at the 7 other repair shops i stopped at was able to help me and the people at those places didint seem like they wanted to either. So i stopped by this place not only did they get me right in within 5 minutes but they ordered my parts and got my car fixed right away and got me back on the road. I am beyond greatful !! And to top it off they were very very honest with me about the issues with my car, they did not over charge me at all. Any place could of easily took advantage of me. I am very happy with the service and honesty i recieved from this Auto Repair Shop. I Recommend this place to everyone... Thanks again for everything guys !!!
Best thing to say is ..as a parent and husband I trust these guys to keep the cars my wife and our son drives safe and running well ..
I had to get my tire plugged recently and they were able to get it done quickly. They were very nice and let me come back with cash to pay since I only had a cc at the time and it was less than their minimum. Im grateful for their help and would recommend them! Ive also heard good things about them from my coworkers.
Honest repair shiop that only charges you for what they repair and always available to work in a car for assessment and service. These places just dont exist these days. A rare and reputable repair shop that cares about their customers. We have two VW vehicles and will take ALL of our cars here. Thanks Marc
Marc just fixed my Audi Q5 and did a great job. He was very quick and offered a very fair price. He even inspected my car and didn t charge me and didn t even mention it. I would definitely recommend him.
Very unimpressed. Saw a vehicle posted for sale. Tried to contact through email twice and never heard a response (both my husband and I tried to get in touch). Then when I finally found the phone number and texted a man named Kevin his response to my questions and comments about not being able to get in touch with them was a text of one word. SOLD I wrote back to his one word text asking if he was a dealer ... interested to see if this man would even respond. Nope. No response. Wow. Thank you so much for making the least amount of effort possible to help a consumer. I will be sure to never ever purchase a vehicle from your facilities and write this post to deter others as well.
Very thorough and fair about what needs to be fixed and weighing the options.
Im convinced that this is THE PLACE to go for any Audi/VW/BMW issues. Period. Dont waste time with the dealership as these gentlemen are twice as knowledgeable for less than half the price of the dealership (for my Timing Belt replacement, at least). This was my second visit to Marcs and Ive been very pleased with each visit. You can expect a slightly longer wait time than at the stealership, but I cant hold it against them because they have absolutely earned the right to be busy by doing exceptional work and offering the most competitive pricing. And why rush perfection when it comes to your daily driver? Definitely glad I was recommended there. Thanks guys!
Big thanks to Marcs VW- The folks at Marcs were friendly and efficient. They were flexible about scheduling, and they predicted a one day turnover for the windshield wiper transmission replacement I needed. I dropped my 2001 Jetta off after work, they called early the next morning with an estimate, and they called later that afternoon when the car was ready to be picked up. I dont know enough about car repair to assess the costs or complexity of the job but I sure do value the accuracy of their time estimate and their quick and efficient service, and Marcs was very gracious when I presented their repair coupon which I had clipped out of the paper. I know my car will need more work, and Marcs will be the first place I call.
TLDR - Incompetent or just dont care, both? Misdiagnosis, said I needed a $1500 -$2000 part, WRONG!!! I was visiting in the area from a long distance away when my car would not start. Had the car brought to Marcs after trying some basic diag. in a cold driveway with very limited tools (I do most of my own mechanical work on this car at home). Car was brought to Marcs on the advice of the flatbed driver. Managed to find a way home after it was obvious they were in no hurry to look at it that day (tomorrow? Maybe. We re busy - yeah they were out plowing snow). They knew I was from out of the area. All I wanted was to get the car started and running to get it home. After a few days they finally got around to looking at it and pronounced that the injection pump was bad no fuel at the injectors. This part is $1500 - $2000 + $1000 core charge before any labor and I had my doubts so I paid the tow bill + 1hr. labor to Marcs. Getting the car back to me was going to be big $$$$s so I managed to arrange to borrow a tow dolly and towed it back w/the help of a friend. Spent an hr. or 2 doing basic 101 diag. stuff, nothing complicated or involved, just basics they should have covered. Pulled fuel through the pump (with a vacuum pump), got a lot of air out of it, bled injectors and it started right up. 2 subsequent cold starts went fine. As of this writing not sure why it failed to start in Mechanicville but if Marcs mechanic had half a clue or half cared about what he was doing they could have had the car running in an hr. or two and spared me a lot of grief, expense, and favors owed to all those who helped me out.
