Truly one of the few places that it feels like the employees actually LIKE working for the company! Today I was looking for a gift for a friend and I knew nothing about climbing and the sales associate Lavender was so awesome! She’s the best. my friend loved the gifts.
Only writing this review because Damien, I spoke to in the ski and snowboard department over the phone. After ordering some vans snowboard boots through the REI website, I got them and one of was slightly too small. He detailed every aspect of how and why the sizing works the way it does what to do moving forward and was so helpful just in general explaining all the different aspects of boot sizing and heat molding, etc. thanks so much, Damien you’re the man.
Store is super organized. The greeters did not say hello when I walked in and said hi and continued and a conversation amongst themselves. Walked through the travel section about 3 times looking for a specific bag size and was never approached by a staff member although there was a group of about 5 chatting in the back.
BIG store. Big selection. Shop is beautiful with New York steel pillars on all floors. The employees are friendly and helpful.
I had a terrible experience at REI in New York. When I bought a jacket, they were incredibly eager to sell me a membership, repeatedly assuring me that if anything went wrong—like a broken zipper—they would fix it. They made it sound like the warranty was amazing and would cover any issue. Well, that turned out to be completely false. I came back with a broken jacket, only to be told that they don’t fix anything and that the membership only covers a one-year warranty. This was the exact opposite of what the salesperson promised. I feel completely misled and scammed by this program they aggressively push. I trusted REI because of their reputation, but now I feel like they just wanted to make a quick sale. If you’re considering buying a membership for the warranty, don’t fall for it. It’s not what they make it out to be. I’m extremely disappointed and won’t be shopping here again.
Not disabled friendly. Not enough cashiers. Staff not too helpful. There is a strike going on and I read the literature- REI has some issues that need to be resolved. I always wonder when a company treats employees not fairly what else might be FOUL.
BOYCOTT THIS PLACE:IT IS NOT DISABILITY FRIENDLY I asked if I could have assistance. The line was long. They couldn’t provide a stool to sit on or give me a marker so I could sit and wait until I was next in line. TRYING TO GET IN THE PLACE WAS ROUGH! Then to top it all. I didn’t realize they were having a STRIKE outside. We can honor them which I agree but not to help a disabled person when I asked is SAD!
I went in here to wait out the rain. cosy with no easy seating. There are bathrooms though. You also might like some of their premium outdoor gear. The bottomline is this is a central spot helpful for meeting and otherwise.
The best store I find everything I need.
Great selection of outdoor gear and friendly, helpful staff.
Awesome
Always helpful staff and good products. They never hurry me either.
Great place to find gear that you need. Loved their socks. Friendly helpful staff.
Always love going in this place and space. Funny, my prom was in this exact space, lol.
This REI is for people who think central park is an expedition. Zoned out staff lie to you and waste your time. Might as well order online.
The greatest place on earth if you go there look for Ravi the best employee ever everything and everything that you need for every day to weekend family trip
Was surprised that the store selection was limited and expensive (perhaps compared to outside of Manhattan), yet very crowded.
Love this place especially with their membership.
I hate to leave reviews like this but the legendary retailer of outdoor gear has really fallen. A trillion items packed on the racks and terribly presented. And none in any sizes anyone wants! Left frustrated and bought nothing.
I have only heard good things about this company prior to my experience. I ordered to Osprey bags that I NEED for my vacation. I got the order confirmation saying the bags would be in well in time for my vacation. In the meantime, I had to travel for work. By the time I came back, the bags were not at my house and I NEVER got an email explaining that my order was canceled. I had to track my order afterwards to learn this. Super messed up considering how much I was relying on the order details they sent me and how it now effects my trip.
Extremely unhelpful, unfriendly and unprofessional staff
Waited 30 mins to get help and test a bike never got helped and left. Sales associates should be mindful how long they re spending with one customer.
Ski shop is still closed
i came here for years & loved it until the workers unionized & it became apparent management sucks balls. do better, treat your workers with respect. they re all you have.
The workers are very nice but corporate has failed to provide proper ventilation in the ski shop. This created an unsafe situation for both employees and also shoppers who are exposed to toxic chemicals.
Management needs to give ski shop workers here proper PPE & ventilation so they can get back to work safely! It s not that complicated stop being huge losers
Very disappointed to learn that theyre not meeting very basic safety concerns and providing proper PPE for their ski workers. Wont be shopping there anymore until they come to an agreement with the striking workers.
Love this store and used to come here all the time. Will not be returning until they meet their striking workers VERY simple demands. In short, the management vindictively removed all the PPE from their ski shop, even though working on skis creates toxic fumes. They need to bring the respirators back for their ski techs health and safety. I m frankly disgusted by the management of this store, and the company which is a shame because this is a store I find very useful.
I can t in good conscience continue to shop at a store that treats its co-op members as valued owners but doesn t protect its workers. The ski shop workers deserve to work in an environment where their health and safety concerns are heard.
Came to get a pair of hiking boots, and found out the employees were being denied PPE. Went to a different store. I am a Co-op member, and am disgusted to be associated with such selfishness and lack of care.
Please provide your ski shop workers with safety equipment. We all see you.
Next time you shop at REI SOHO make sure to wear a helmet especially when you are going to shop at the camping department!!!!! A LOT of loose bricks at the ceiling!!!! They never fix it since 2020! They don t value workers and they don t value customer s safety!
Came in today to get a new pair of boots .when I went to get in line to pay for them I noticed only 3 registers open with the line extended to the front door. Can buy the same stuff on Amazon I guess, REI makes it really hard to want to to buissness with them.
How is management still not providing PPE to their ski shop workers?!?! As a nurse who had to reuse the same (single-use) N95 for a week before I could get a new one during COVID, Im appalled that while PPE is easily available, you CHOOSE to not protect your staff.
Dream place for everyone who loves sports, bought my first harness here a bit before they closed the store, a guy helped find something suitable for my size and budget. Cant wait to come back the next time Im in NY!
love this place. prices are cheaper than competitors; public bathroom, test to try out clothing before purchasing and they have a lifetime membership that has 10% on purchases. only issue I have is that they have limited products from certain apparel companies due to space issue.
I went in this afternoon to get some help with a day backpack for my trip to Peru. Having done previous research (ChatGPT), I was considering a couple Osprey backpacks. Although busy, the staff made time for me and gave me very thorough information about each model. They helped adjust the backpack to my body and explained exactly how it should sit properly. They also made recommendations for other items (e.g. UV sunglasses) I may need for the trip as it is a hike at altitude, something I didnt even research yet. Overall I had such a pleasant experience, and I will be back next week for more help!
I like the products in the store, but the flagship store is lacking. Lots of workers but seem to be wandering around not of much help. Twice I tried to use the locked changing rooms in one area but was directed to another changing room area. When I got there, I was directed back to the first area. Who is directing this cast?!? 12 - 15 customers in line with 3 workers at the registers when I left. Small store size limits the amount of product. Recommend shopping online and return as needed.
After many, many years of membership, I made an attempt to return a defective item and was told REI would not honor its own return policy. Won t shop here ever again.
1 star because the lines here are always insanely long, regardless of the season. They have an embarrassingly few number of cash registers for being NYC s flagship store. They also process returns in the exact same line as checkouts, so the entire first floor basically becomes a line. Great place if you want to look at and try things on, but just go buy online if you find something you like. Or try Backcountry or another alternative
Great sporting goods store with many floors that contain specialty items.
Cannot shop somewhere that refuses to provide PPE to it s employees. Workers are ON STRIKE, don t be a scab for the holidays. REI please reinstate respirators for the ski shop workers blasting plastic into the air all day, this is insane
Oz was super helpful! I bought a travel backpack I was unhappy with and he brought out another one that fit my body type much better, fit it to me, and helped me with the exchange process.
CAREFUL!! It seems like management has not been due diligent about toxic fumes/gasses from the first level of the store. Would recommend going to another place if you care about health!!
This location of REI is always a disaster. Long lines that wrap around the store. Not sure what management is doing but it s not working for a flagship store. ALSO apparently the air is not clean. The bathroom is public on the lower level and always clean.
Spent a couple of hours there trying to find the perfect trekking backpack, everyone was very helpful
Went to buy a pair of hiking boots but walked away because their workers are striking for better respiratory safety standards. Never cross a strike line! Solidarity with workers is important.
Support the Strike!
Definitely lacking inventory for a flagship store I wanted a basic headlamp model and they were unable to accommodate. I then left when I realized that workers are striking for ski shop safety compliance, apparently their respirators have been taken away. I d never want to cross a picket line, and that s a pretty egregious move by corp REI.
Turned right around when I found out their employees were on strike because they weren t provided PPE. Can t support a company like this
I love REI but cannot support this location as it does not provide safe working conditions for their employees. This location does not provide PPE for ski repair workers which requires employees to melt plastics and wax. Which is toxic without proper PPE
I spent thousands of dollars here but have stopped because of their bad faith labor practices. Bring back the cooperative spirit and honor your workers please!
This store uses toxic fumes in their ski shop that they refuse to protect workers and customers from. Check out REI Union SoHo to learn more. Sincerely a regretful co-op member. Do better, REI!
I can t support a co-op that union busts and treats their workers poorly.
Wanted to bring my skies in to get tuned up but apparently there s some kind of worker dispute about safety. Before living in the city I used to do my skis myself. I bring them in now because my apt doesn t have proper ventilation. I m a coop member and expect a lot more from this place.
I went to buy some christmas presents however can not support a business when their employees are striking for better work conditions.
Do not shop here, management does not provide the skishop workers with safety equipment. I stand with the workers who are on the picket lines demanding for a better work environment
I really enjoyed shopping at REI bc I thought they treated their workers well and had ethical work standards. Multi-million enterprise and they cant provide respirators for their workers?! Will not shop there until the workers demands are met.
I am an REI coop member and came for a ski tune up. The technician suggested new skis, which I was fine with his assessment. I went to the ski area standing around with old skis Scanning for an assist. After 10 minutes of this pose an associate asked if I could use help. I said thanks! I certainly would. I stood 15 minutes longer in my statue pose. No one showed up. Frustrated, I decided to leave. As a helpful gesture I asked if I could speak to a manager or assistant manager. An assistant manager did come by, offered no apology and simply said they are probably on break. The great customer service I had long admired needs a big fix. PS 1 month later: Brought my skis in for a tune-up elsewhere. The tech said they were quite fine and tuned them up with no issues.
Really tired of store management not negotiating in good faith. They have the best price around for Look pedals, but I will not be a patron of a store that does not respect their workers. Cmon, the fact this strike is about workers having access to respirators and PPE is appalling. Solidarity with those striking, management is making me seriously reconsider who I go to for cycling goods. Really pisses me off, as I have been a member for years, and this is not what I paid for. Treat your workers right, you are nothing without them!
Traveled all the way here to find out that the ski shop employees were on strike because of managements failure to provide them respirators for their work. Good thing Burton is nearby. Give your employees respirators!
Despite the amazing selection of high quality products, this store isn t rated higher because the lines for checkout and in-store pickup are both the slowest in New York City. The 2nd avenue Q subway extension was built faster than this line moves. It s easier to walk the NYC marathon backwards and blindfolded than it is to get to the front of these lines. If you do want to shop here, please allocate 2-4 business days and consider bringing a folding chair. Should your time in line go past closing time, the store has a variety of top notch sleeping bags to choose from.
Very disappointed. They advertise a year return policy- this is not true!! For minor signs of wear they won t take products back. False advertising
My complaint is that someone stole a bag and they did not care at all. If I had stolen something they would have pulled security cameras and checked. For my stolen stuff no concerns
I went to shop at REI today and was disappointed to find that the ski shop workers were on strike. Meet your workers demands!
Terrible experience with an exchange of winter gloves, the manager compared the gloves too old and new car models when in fact the gloves purchased on line at a great price had some cancer forming material or something as described by the sales associate but it was never disclosed during the original purchase. Anyway REI is still a great store.
no customer service here
thirty people in line on a week night and they have three out of eight registers open with a dozen employees just hanging out in the rest of the store. Really? 20-25 minute wait is a joke.
I was planning on buying a winter coat but not once I saw that ski shop workers are striking after management took away all their PPE and threatened to fire them if they refused to work in chemically toxic conditions. SUPPORT YOUR WORKERS OR LOSE YOUR CUSTOMERS
Colin helped me today, 11/10, with ski boot sizing. He was super helpful/knowledgeable as it has been years since I ve bought new boots. I got to try on multiple pairs and he educated me on the new technology of the boots. Gave me a bunch of tips and I ll definitely be back when I m ready to purchase! Thanks for the help
Good selection of Stanley Cups (:
Good equipment, but one of the places with the worst service Ive stumbled upon.
Great staff One could outfit for an expedition to Mt. Everest. Checkout experience is flawless
A huge shoutout to Theo for his exceptional help in finding me a new pair of snow boots! I visited the store to exchange a poorly fitting pair of ski boots I had purchased the day before, and Theo went above and beyond to help me find a new pair. His deep knowledge of ski-boots and the sport itself was impressive. He patiently answered all my questions, quickly identified the ideal size and style given my foot shape, and even heat-molded the liners- despite the store being close to closing time. If youre shopping for boots or any ski/snow equipment at the store, I highly recommend seeking out Theo.
This place has gone down the drain in the last few years. Now, I have been shopping here since this location was the new hot thing on the block. I understand that there has been a lot of shoplifting in NYC of late, but tying literally all goods, even shirts, to the building with bicycle locks is just a little extreme. I was in to buy a new set of base layers, and the staff looked bothered that they had to unlock the products for me to try on. Mind you, I am a member and actually bought multiple items, but I was treated like a trespasser. When I asked one employee if he could check for a specific size and color in the back, he said that everything is on the floor. I asked another guy, and he went back to check for me. For many products that they used to carry, I was told by the sales clerks just get it online. Frankly, dont inconvenience this store with your patronage. The world is apparently better off without this store...just get it online.
Apparently this location is temporarily closed. No notification aside from a paper sign on the window. I have an item for pickup in the store. Nothing was said about the store location being closed.
Not the best .. order online
Make sure you are careful with their membership. The 1-year return isn t accurate. Scammed me out of some climbing shoes. Said they couldn t take them because they were too used. I went to check their used section and boom! Somehow those shoes were fine but mine weren t.
Love the store. This one is has great selection.
The whole staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. Highly recommend
Great store. Knowledgeable staff. Good selection
Worst customer service. Waited 30 minutes for someone to help me with ski boots, and in the end, no one showed up. Asked multiple different people to help, and no one assisted me. Its absolutely ridiculous.
Amazing flagship store, poor customer service. Shane, at checkout, was extremely impatient with me and not helpful.
REI is a great place to find your equipment if you are interested in outdoor sports. You can find a lot of equipment in one package, everything has been thought out for you down to the smallest detail. As for the employees; It will help you a lot and you can do your shopping while chatting
There are not many things, and many of them are not very good. It feels like a lie to tourists and is not suitable for outdoor activities.
The experience at this place was wonderful this was because I went to this store with my sister and got a pair of water proof shoes and since my sister got it the shoes are nice. Also, this sore is big and has 2 floors and sells walking shoes, camping things, shirts, and many more. I highly recommend people come to this store when there is a sell.
Best shopping experience I ever had in my life. Thank you so much for all the help!!!
This corner has improved 1000% percent after the REI store opened here. I used to buy my outdoor gear in the REI store in Berkeley in California, but now this is my favorite store. Workers are very helpful and knowledgeable about most of the things that they sell. Last week I needed two sleeping bags for an impromptu slumber party night under the stars, before the beginning of the school year, and I was able to buy them with my membership discount during their member days special!!! Great place.
Customer service is decent, but prices are a little high
I wanted to get model of my tent. They didnt have the records I asked if I could email them as I live overseas. They refused I spoke to manager KAT,E who told me they dont send overseas I explained to her I didnt want it sent. I only wanted the part number so I can order it. She replied they dont call overseas. I explained to her I only wanted to email as phoning is difficult. She said dont email.. store email is st142 at rei c. O. M. How ineffective KATE was she refused to listen or assist the client
Perpetually understocked and understaffed. Be prepared to wait 20+ minutes in line.
Knowledgeable staff and good equipment
Sports shop with big selection. Pricing is ok but also friendly employees
Horrible customer service!!! Two employees talking to each other I had to disrupt the conversation and the employee had no clue what he was selling as an rei member Im horrified! I had bought a blue tooth lock last year at this location for 200 bucks and wanted to get another. I ended up going to a small bike shop where the service was professionally on point! And with a lock installation
This store SEEMS like they have everything that a sportsman or sportswoman could ever need, but service sucks! I m invisible in this store as a black man, today was my 3rd attempt to shop here and my last in flagship store. Very upsetting and very hurtful and done.
OP place for bike repairs or new gear and bicycle
Great prices and a huge store for being in SOHO. This REI has everything you would need from camping to biking. There are designated apparel sections based on the activity type. PLUS, there is a public bathroom!
Great experience! The staff was helpful and patient as I tried on like 5 pairs of sneakers. They helped me find the perfect shoe.
Excellent workers, helpful for me. Lots of thing, not a big veraity of sizes
Rei has all your gear for camping bike mountain climbing and awesome staff always willing to help you
I have a deep appreciation for REI. The staff are always incredibly helpful, striking the perfect balance between being friendly and making me feel comfortable without being overly familiar. Over the years, I ve purchased numerous items from them, and their customer service never fails to impress. Just today, I had an issue with my hiking pole, so I brought it in to see if they could assist. Not only did they help me resolve the problem, but I also ended up getting a new pole and received advice on how to repair the old one. I truly love this place.
I have never seen a store with excessive prices as in this case.
What an outstanding team! Despite the store being busy, one of the associates took the time to thoroughly explain the features of various rain jackets, detailing the pros and cons of different fabrics. It made my purchasing experience so much smoother.
Colin in the bike shop has an encyclopedic knowledge of bikes, helmets, saddles, accessories etc etc. He was incredibly helpful figuring out folding bikes and getting set up. Stephanie was also super helpful teaching me the basics of folding/unfolding and figuring out my options. Highly recommend both of them
Dont buy shoes here Understaff long wait time
Ive always had a good experience with REI. But this location in particular has been amazing!! the employees are knowledgeable and take the time to help you, above and beyond. Colin in camping really set me on the right foot. I had no idea what I was doing when shopping for camping gear, but he took the time to help me fit the gear to my dimensions, and explain the ins and outs. If anything, I would stop by this location just for the knowledge of the employees. Also, they have a used items section which i didnt know about. Highly recommend.
We went to this location when it was storming to get some rain gear - a lifesaver. We re big fans of the store back in Seattle - climbing, hiking and camping gear
Member of 10 years. This store is spacious and well-organized with helpful and knowledgeable associates, but the union-busting management makes it the worlds worst REI store. A co-op that violates labor law is not a co-op. BARGAIN IN GOOD FAITH AND GET YOUR WORKERS A CONTRACT!
Temporarily closed. Sunday Aug 4th. No indication as to why or when it will reopen. Would be helpful if some sort of explanation was given or at least update Google to reflect.
The store was huge and had everything needed for a hike I was planning. The people working there were very nice, and especially Alex, someone who helped us. He had knowledge about all the gear and shoes, and was extremely helpful and patient with us giving us information outside of what we asked for. Greatly recommend this store for anyone who needs any gear
Its an REI in an awesome location.
I came in for a new tube and tire. After I left, I started riding and notice something wrong with my gears. I change gears 1 more time and it slipped off and is jammed. Terrible service.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Additionally the ones that I spoke with were experienced campers/travelers and had first-hand accounts of the equipment and thus were able to lend experienced recommendations.
one if the nicest rei stores in the country, and i ve been to many
This store is huge and has everything we need as beginner climbers! Zoe was so helpful in showing my friend and I climbing shoes and explaining the different variations. Unfortunately we were just window shopping today but I ll be back after my next paycheck to shop and get the membership she told us about! So excited to start my climbing journey with REI after this visit :)
Understaffed, and the ones who are there are not helpful at all. Waste of time.
Can be expensive but thats to be expected with good name brands. The staff here is always helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Great selection too.
My favorite REI! Wonderful customer service and a great variety of products & options!
I own a cannondale quick 5 and went to buy a Quick one or 2 at Huntington store. The sale they are having is a scam. NONE of the 1 2 or 3 are available in the entire US. So I drove 60 mikes for nothing. They keep saying 20% off a quick 2 ? Well I want the bike but they virtually have NO INVENTORY. SO disappointing
Staff so helpful and friendly. The best store I have found on earth!
A well-stocked outdoor shop. Despite a zero empathy sales assistant, I found a pair of Brooks shoes on my own which I then purchased.
Specific shoutout to Mae and Erik at the bike shop! 10/10 customer service and bike expertise. Helped me out with a couple flats and gave me several great pointers!
Came in to shop for a pair of new hiking boots and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. I must have tried on at least five different pairs and I have to give a special shout out to Adam who helped me pick out the perfect pair. Thanks for all your patience and guidance! Never felt rushed and I m someone who always takes forever to decide on a new purchase.
Its rare to find an outdoor goods store in the city. There have always been a lot of people. A large number of backpacks. And my favorite Columbia
Placed an order for pick up and arrived when the order was supposed to be ready. Waited an hour for someone to assist me and was then told the product was out of stock and tough luck.
I usually love shopping at REI but I keep hearing about how they don t treat their employees very well. Which I don t understand, because everyone who works here is amazing and so helpful..
My first visit to this location. I came during the annual sale the line was so long and the store was so packed that I had to leave or risk being late for an appointment. Customers attitudes were the expected mix of frustration and elation. That didnt affect the friendly attentiveness of the staff; every employee I interacted with was exceptionally helpful. I have to give special recognition to Wendy; she held my items for a few hours until I came back to finish shopping and she didnt let the poor attitude of others get to her.
Staff are very helpful!
Return policy isnt what it used to be I needed boots. I liked the look of some North Faces, but was concerned about their urban durability. The sales rep assured me they were up to the task. I bought them just before going home for the holidays in the sedentary small town I grew up in. Came back in March. Within weeks, the tread started separating. By May, it was worn all the way through to the foam. Its been a busy few months, so Ive been tolerating the situation until I had time to go exchange them. The manager agreed that having a pair of brand new boots literally fall apart in less than six months is absurd, but explained that the return policy is a satisfaction guarantee - if youve worn them for more than a week or two, theyre no longer covered. I used to shop at REI because I trusted if they sold you garbage, theyd fix it. Now its well you must have been satisfied to let them get this bad. Next time, dont buy that brand.
I checked on their website for boots in my size, the brands I wanted to try out. It said all were available. I schlepped all the way there, and they had none of the 3 I wanted. The salesperson said you should have called us. A total waste of time. Will not recommend this shop.
Nice staff, moderately good selection, but the checkout queue is insane. 45 people in line for 6 open checkouts (out of 11 checkouts total). Just plain disrespectful.
Poor customer service on the phone and in the store. Additionally, the inventory management results in frequent out of stick situations. I have seen much better performance in REI stores in Colorado and California. I have been a REI member for 37 years, I dont recall a store ever being thus bad.
The slowest service known to mankind. 12 customers in the line waiting to pay, but two cashiers having long, involved conversations. No immediacy and no help from the several other staff wandering the floor; can t they jump on a till to help reduce the 15 minute wait time to pay??
REI is a wonderful entity located on the ground floor at PUCK BLDG on Houston Street at the BWay/Lafayette subway stop
Astounding amount of supplies. A one stop shop
Careful of the grumpy condescending old white guy at the bike shop, he won t help you understand anything with kindness just some weird discontent.
Great store. Kudos to the associates who were so helpful and patient. My wife and I must have spent over 2 hours in there, trying out hiking shoes, but we were not alone. There were people who were trying on shoes before us and their boxes were all over the place. The associates did try to help by asking questions so that was good. In the end, we got our shoes and we can hike pain-free which is the point of finding the right shoe. Also, a plus, is they have books on hiking and a Sasquatch guide for the fearless hiker.
Great store of outdoor lovers. This location in the city is a bliss.
Stay away from this store and their terror supporter staff and owners.
Antisemitic store! Employees are barbaric savages! Do not buy in this store!!!!
I dont shop in store.
I had a great ski boot shopping experience with Dave! He was very kind, patient, and knowledgable about the different boot options. He even spent time after the store had closed to unscrew and re-screw different buckle positions to get the best fit. Ive always had good customer service at this location but this particularly stood out.
The flagship store has so many choices for outdoor activities.
the staff in the shoe department was not friendly. the guys ignored us.
I visited today the NY store. I chose a Pair of gloves (there were signs saying that ALL gloves were 25% off). Went into the queue (it was crowded, and spent 10 or More). When it was my turn to pay the employee said that HE CANT SELL ME THE PRODUCT BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY FOR MEMBERS. A total Scam and a shame. You lost a Client FOREVER.
Service there is so friendly and they have literally everything you may need for sports, traveling, camping, etc. Products are high quality and you have all price ranges. Worth the trip every time.
Olie is very knowledgeable about skiing products and very professional and helpful!!! Really enjoy his professional suggestions about skiing boots 104!
I was here the Sunday before cyber Monday and all their sales items were organized pretty well and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. I was able to try a lot of the stuff I wanted to buy. We didnt end up buying anything in store but instead just ordered online so we didnt have to put stuff back home.
Worst customer service. Late delivery for a whole week cuz my order was not even processing. Zero contact until I talked to their customer service agent. No compensation for waisting customer s precious time. Not going to use their online service ever again.
This has to be the worst store I ve ever been to! I went there to go shopping and while I was looking at stuff this employee made fun of my outfit! I was very hurt because I was wearing my favorite outfit I handmade myself. I asked for the manager and the manager was also making fun of my outfit. The costumer service at this is store is horrible! I recommend you don t shop here. And did I mention I saw 2 roaches in there!? That was disgusting to see.
As with every location Ive been to, the staff is kind and professional, and the store very well run
Cool building and helpful staff, but long waits for assistance and many things out of stock.
The personal Is amazing
Probably the biggest outdoor shop in New York. There was a large amount of mountaineering, climbing, bicycle, and ski equipment. Larger scale than Ishii Sports in Akihabara, Japan
This REI, like all that ive been to, has amazing service. Whether helping or being courteous at the register, this place is great. I do wish they carried more snowboard gear as their bindings/boots are mostly for skiers.
Steph helped me and she was super helpful and sweet. Yet, the store was definitely understaffed so it was difficult to find what I was looking for.
Terrible experience with this Brand. They do not offer simple and free returns, you can exchange in an easy process. They are definitely not a customer service oriented brand and returning my goods that didnt fit (their Medium pants fit like a LARGE and their small in shirts fit like an extra small...Go figure. Even if their sizing is all over the place you will have to incur the cost of returning the goods plus you will have to go in person to a post office. Originally I wanted to exchange the sizes but when I see the complexity and cost of the whole thing I just gave up. Really not worth the outrageous prices!
They re ok for those who don t mind wasting time and money. Beaujie. Pricey.
So this is my follow up review to a not so pleasant experience I had at the BROADWAY LAFAYETTE location about 7-8 months ago. Not going to get into exact details as it doesn t deserve any publicity on this post but I was somewhat happy when EILEEN; the MANAGER ON DUTY (Cornell University GRADUATE as well I might add ) took matters into her own hands and issued me a $30 gift card and a formal apology . I accepted her formal apology as I felt it was genuine and she vowed to improve and be more transparent in the store pick-up/ return (credit refund)procedures when using the REI points /credits system online .hope you got all that . So in closing REI made me whole again by #1. Taking OWNERSHIP of the mistake in question. #2. Issuing a formal apology. #3. Issuing me a gift card for the major inconvenience. Thanks EILEEN and Thanks REI Healthy Regards, Val C.
Good sporting goods, you can find nice things
Steph s the best - knows a ton about snowboarding and helped me finally find a pair of boots that I actually enjoy riding. Thank you Steph!!
Store was completely closed due to a unionized protest: understand the guys but at least open the store with minimal people to ensure no interruption of service. Bad management by store level and company. Also no email sent to people who were supposed to pick up packages or anything.
Placed order for pickup this morning and received notification that the order was ready an hour later. Traveled all the way downtown only to find out the store is temporarily closed. Supposedly, the workers went on strike. Why fulfill pick up orders if you plan on going on strike?!?!?! Just made me and a whole bunch of other customers waste their money and time!
Always pleasant to shop at REI. Even if you are not buying anything, any questions asked they ensure that you get proper reply .
Helpful and Friendly Staff. Great selection of clothing and shoes. Love the REI Stormhenge jacket. The Public Bathroom is a nice plus.
Diamond in the rough for manhattan. Rei is massive and filled with all the things you would expect or need for urban or upstate adventurous type. I was headed way up to the middle of nowhere camping and was able to get portable propane grill and even bear spray canister.
Picked up a few things.
Great customer service, Lilia was kind and detailed oriented. What a pleasure to shop when you have human beings that care. Found exactly what I was looking for. Wide range of selections for outdoor activities, smart watches, running shoes, cycling, camping etc. if you re into outdoor activities - this is the place to go. Prices are fair and market value. Will return and highly recommend.
I was looking for pepper spray but they don t have one I checked everywhere I could.
Super friendly staff and huge selection. The only issue is that their stock on a lot of sized items have been low and they on many occasions were out of stock. Update: The place has gone drastically downhill. understaffed, staff no longer engaging as before, does not carry most sizes, the app is not live. Shows sizes that do not exist in the store.
Waited for about 25 mins, asking different people to help me with a shoe size but to no avail. Finally gave up and left. I do not recommend this place. It s a waste of time.
I generally recommend this place. I came for bike maintenance and then again for packing my bike for shipping. While one of the employees had a really bad attitude, two others were really great and went above and beyond to assist me.
I have never met such rude people in my entire life. I usually love going to rei, but after leaving this store i was honestly felt so incredibly down by how rude everyone i approached was. Love rei. I don t know if the people are drank cranky juice today, but they sucked.
Love this place. Great products, amazing staff, awesome to have enthusiasts seeming everywhere in the store.
Nice shop, friendly staff
All I wanted to do was buy some pants. When I went to try them on the man who was opening the dressing room for me wouldn t stop trying to sell me a membership, even after telling him I wasn t interested. He became so insistent I gave up & ended up just going to Patagonia to buy what I wanted.
Nice setup, though most of them I want to purchase were locked up on security tags. Clearly, they have theft issues Its not a good experience to be asking to try on a coat on these days - passed
