Greg Ellinger opened the shop in 1974 and is still the owner of the business today, along with his son, John. Although their loving wife and mother is no longer with them today, they want everyone to remember her for all the love and support she brought to the business!

I highly recommend Ellingers for body work, towing, etc. Their staff are kind and very accommodating, they took care of everything for me including arranging my rental car. The work they do is always excellent, no complaints here.
I would disagree with anyone trying to throw shade on the performance or integrity of this family business. Over the years, I have now had work done there three times. Just recently, I had to wait a few months to get in, in part because they will prioritize folks whose vehicles are damaged to the point of not being operational. My only small complaint was that this was not made clear to me initially, so I waited longer than first estimated. Not enough of a problem to subtract a star in this review. I'm sure if I had been so unfortunate as to have an undriveable vehicle, I would be thrilled with that policy (haha!) I CHOSE TO WAIT for Ellinger's because I trust them to do excellent work & that's worth the wait. I have recommended them to others for the same reason. In fact, when my brother had his truck done by them at my insistence, he was beyond pleased with the result. He couldn't find a single flaw and said it was like getting his brand new truck handed back to him. I am pleased with my recent repair. As far as I know, they only do collision work. They deal with the insurance companies and file supplemental claims if needed (if more damage is found after work begins). They are very efficient, saving you time (important if that expensive clock is ticking on a rental car allowance). Another place estimated they'd have my car 10 days. Ellinger's had it done and done well in 3. Office staff is pleasant, and John is a standup guy. He will look out for you and make sure your vehicle is fixed properly. So good to have my car back to normal, & would definitely choose them again...though I hope not to need anybody! 😄 Important to note if you do plan to use a rental: this all gets set up initially by your insurance company. Just double check that it's still in place as soon as you get scheduled for repair. I was told by Enterprise that the reservation had "expired" while I waited. Ultimately, I didn't need it, or this could have caused additional delay.

They made an unpleasant experience that much easier. I really appreciated that they worked around my schedule and facilitated the rental car, too! Plus they kept in constant contact so even when there was a delay I knew they were right on top of everything! Thanks for everything.
My husband and I brought my Honda Passport to Ellinger’s after I hit a deer back in December 2023. Let me start off with saying, their commitment to making sure that their customers are happy is admirable! My husband, being a former Honda Auto Technician for 12 years, is very OCD when it comes to our vehicles and making sure things are done correctly. When we got my car back we noticed within the first day or two that the front bumper and trims were loose and did not line up correctly, but he was going to look into it further and fix it himself. Ellingers, hearing of the situation and displeasure from our insurance company, immediately contacted us and insisted that we bring the car back for them to evaluate and correct whatever was wrong. In returning my car for further evaluation, the girls inside as well as the technician that came out to look over the car with my husband were very apologetic and understanding of the frustration we had. The entire time they had my vehicle, both times, they were great about communicating with us every step of the way. They generously provided me with a rental car in the meantime while I waited for the work to be completed. When picking up my car for the second time after the corrections had been made, the technical made it a point to come out and made sure that we were happy with the work they had done to fix the problems. Regardless of what happened initially, I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Things happen, mistakes get made, but it’s the willingness to correct them that makes a difference. We appreciate your willingness to go above and beyond to make sure we were happy! Thank you!
My experience with Ellinger was excellent! State Farm sent me here when I was hit in a parking lot. I'm not from the area and at first was told it would be months to get in because they are super busy and scheduled pretty far out. But the ladies in the office here are wonderful and worked with me to figure out a plan and get me in before I would need to leave town. They also made it easy arranging the rental car. The gentleman who provided the estimate was equally helpful, professional and nice, and completed the repair perfectly. Highly recommended! Thanks for the great customer service.

These guys are the best, we had no blinkers, no tail lights and no brake lights on our big RV and John fixed us right up. This is a family owned business and John and his wife Carolyn were the sweetest people. Renee and I now know where the slogan I NY comes from, people like these guys. Oh, and I can t forget their sweet lab Hank, he even got a dog bone from us. John and his staff are great to do business with. They towed our motorhome with great care. They repaired all the damages and made it look like new again. We were in NY (live in Florida) on a trip and they worked with us and they even stored the RV for the winter. Great job John cant say enough about the way we and our motorhome was treated
Waited for an important estimate appointment all week after my car was vandalized. I needed to provide it to the police. I explained my car had been keyed on all three sides and they had the person who did it on video. Also that I needed them to see if my tire problem was consistent w vandalism. Dropped my car off a half hour early and two hours later they said it was done. The tire was seen to be an unidentified slash according to them on the phone. I pick the estimate up and it was extremely low. Come to find out they only did an estimate for the drivers side and told me Id have to bring it back. Here we are Thursday and I cannot get my car in to someone else now until next week and I needed to provide this to the police. Not only that, they unnecessarily shot me in the foot when I asked them to document that my tire had a slash in it by writing unidentified slash could have been caused by running something over or vandalism. UNBELIEVABLE. I threw their estimate right in their trash. Their response to this proves how unprofessional they are. My car is a 2022 yes it needed a wash but was nowhere near filthy. Very trashy business. At least what I wrote in this review was factual.*UPDATE* A real body shop found that the unidentified slash was actually a nail. Not sure how you can confuse the two.

Ehlingers did the body work on our 2105 Motorhome. Everything matches perfect, excellent job! We are very happy with the result. Dont hesitate to have them work on your vehicles.

I initially went to Ellinger body shop and I was impressed with their very warm reception. The office so very clean and well kept and so comfortable. The girls were very kind , very knowledgeable and very professional. John , Mr. Ellingers son was very professional and honest. They took care of everything and the experience was so non stressful. They were honest and just made you so comfortable and relaxed! I highly recommend them! God bless!
I have had to use Ellingers Collison several times and have even referred my friends to them. It is the only place I would take my car for body work or painting. They do a fabulous job.
I have been calling their shop for three days and nobody has answered the phones.

John was fantastic! We were stranded with a 26 Budget rental truck for 7 hours. John did more for us in 20 minutes than Budget did during the whole experience. I cannot express how grateful we are and how awesome John is...Thank you!!!

My uncle who is a veteran and has know Greg and his family for years had a bad accident not vehicle related. Before the accident he had talked to Greg about getting some work done on his truck. Well they did it. And Didn t charge him. My uncle was so happy that he called my dad in Alaska to tell him how nice they are to him. During this pandemic it s the little unknow things that make a family proud and happy to do business with the Ellingers s. God bless

Not very receptive for getting quotes. I was approximately what it would cost. Their approximate cost was substantially HIGHER than written quotes I had received from other locations actually replacing instead of filling with bondo hence I did not do business here. After looking at my vehicle, the approximate cost increased by a few hundred dollars more. I would not recommend this business as there are several other body shops in the area that will take the time to give you a written estimate.

This company is the worst towing company they will tow your vehicle and cause damage and not take care of it and say that that are not responsible for it there tow truck drivers are inexperienced drivers and are roud to coustermers.
They illegally towed a friends car, and only dropped it when a neighbor came out and stopped them. When confronted, they lied and diverted. Very, very unprofessional. I do NOT recommend anybody use them.
I have had multiple repairs done at Ellingers and have always been impressed with their professionalism and how my vehicles ended up. The crew there at Ellingers always go out of their way to keep me 1) informed 2) in a vehicle and 3) satisfied.
They might do good work but they are the rudest people I have ever met.

Youll never find more honest trust worthy people to do business with. I have had my vehicles repaired st their facility and so has many of my family member. Highly recommend them for your towing and repair needs.
I have used Ellingers car services for over twenty years. They have towed my car and done extensive body work on several vehicles in that time period. They are very professional, prompt, and excellent craftsman. I would never go anyplace else in the Rome/Utica area. Five star establishment.
Have used Ellingers collision center a few times in the past 20 years. Very nice and helpful staff, excellent workmanship, paint matched perfect. No finer collision center in the area. Would highly recommend Ellingers collision center for any repair.

This place is great. I took my car in because my wife got in a fender bender with my car (Slapping my head) and they took care of the damage. Insurance took care of everything. Car came back very fast and looked brand new (Again).
