Absolute Transmission Center in Round Lake Beach

Recently my mom took her vehicle to this establishment due to a check engine light. She was told that she needed a new transmission and she received an estimate of $5,000 for a rebuilt transmission. Plus the cost of the transmission. We decided to tow the vehicle to a jeep dealer and have it serviced. After being checked twice they said nothing was wrong with the transmission. It was serviced and returned. The guy at this business also asked to purchase the vehicle for $1,500 prior to her having it moved. This is an unfortunate situation and if she wouldn’t have taken it to the dealer she would have paid him. Please be careful and do your research.

Wanted to be a complete mean person for no reason. Literally called him for a quote. I said "wow" and he got upset.. dude that's not how you do business. Don't be hard headed. Breathe.

Tim real helpful and smart transmission Guy!! We been using him for years!! Tim just gets those hard to solve problems fixed!!!!!!!! You just don't get Knowable guys like this anymore!!!!! He is the Best!!!

I'm not exactly sure what the other reviews were about....my experience with Tim was excellent. My phone calls were returned same day, the work was done much faster than I anticipated. I was informed every step of the process and I was shown the bad parts. 100% satisfied customer and I would recommend checking this place out for work. Its transmission work, if you expect it to be cheap, learn how to do it yourself folks...they are not easy to work on or we would all be mechanics. Thanks for the work!!

Have had a couple of my cars fixed by Tim/Absolute transmission and recommend to all my family and friends. Always great service at a fair price. I find the 1 star review stating "never answers the phone and doors always locked" very odd. I dont think anyone else has that issue, maybe it applies to only you and the fact that you are his soon to be ex wife.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Our truck had a rebuilt trans and differential put in. 8 months later the truck turned off when driving it. We brought it back to absolute and the the guys says it is the fuel pump. He put a new one I. And after 8 days we could not contact this guy who runs this shop. Finally he calls back fuel pump installed but still will not start. Turns out the engine has a catastrophic fsilye. The idiot gave me b.s. that the fuel pump was bad when it was the engine. I paid 760.00 for the fuel pump. The went in not running and car left not running. And get this the guy says he gave us a good deal and yeah but on a dead engine. I want money back and he says no. Absolutely do not go to absolute transmission.

This is not a honest shop . Quoted me about $800 to fix my trans and 7 days later I had to call him to ask what’s going on with my car and he gives me the BS that he dropped the pan and the trans fluid was dark ( BS ) I had the a complete flush done 2 months ago and fluid does not go dark in 2 months . Than TIM proceeds to tell me that it’s going to be about $2000 or more to fix the trans . What a scam ! I told him I had to discuss this cost with my wife .. he said not to tell my wife to keep this as secret between us and that cash was king as we can work something out . What a misleading scammer. At this point I became very suspicious of his credibility and his integrity. I told him to have my car ready as I’m picking it up. TIM charged me $52 for a inspection and I got no paperwork with the analysis of his inspection . Mr . Tim a $2000 scam is no secret and I’m sure cash is king in your scamming routine . I do not recommend this shop . You will end up paying double and the warranty is very questionable.

I have never reviewed a car care center before but this is a machanic everyone should know! I have been coming to Absolute Transmission for 10 years now. My car has 225 thousand miles and it is still in good shape! I was deciding whether or not to buy a new transmission or just get a new car!? Tim gave me a fair price with No BS. He got the job done within a few of days. He also took the time to inspect my car and discovered the rear brakes needed to be replace. Needless to say, My car is like brand new and I have No car payments to worry about! I am certain I will get another 100 thousand miles out of my 2003 car. Thanks Tim for all your hard work. I will be sure to refer you to anyone in need of car repairs. See you in about 100 thousand miles! Donna
