I brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee into Childs Automotive as it had recently been serviced at Nemer and after it was serviced there was another issue that was not present prior to being dropped off and serviced by Nemer which Nemer was unable to diagnose. Childs Automotive was able to put the vehicle up on a lift and determine that Nemer failed to finish tightening various bolts on the undercarriage. I would definitely recommend Childs Automotive for future service needs!

My husband and I are from out of state and needed to get a tire patched on our rental car. Childs fit us in and serviced us immediately. Great experience!

I have been in a few binds before today and went there prior with both my Honda and Firebird... But let me tell you, this was the absolute worst morning. Flat tire in Round Lake. Had a temporary fix done (bless my boyfriends soul) so I could make it to work and figure it out from there. I called Childs letting them know my situation as I was closeby. They took on the task on my lunch hour, and made the situation so much better. No more stress, no worries. With the utmost honesty about the work of my boyfriends work and everything. They mentioned how it was decent enough to be permanent possibly but if I still wanted the patch tire treatment they could still do it. Great people and sincere. Thank you Gary and your crew! Absolutely memorable. Highly appreciated and recommend!

Family and I were on vacation. With 6 kids. Got a blow out on our popup camper, closes place off the highway. Slowly drove there lol they were so great, very fast to help. Pulled out the jack and tools fixed the tire. And back on the road With in 10 minutes and wouldnt take any money, he said, I want you and the family to have a great time. Hubby still gave him a 20. Thank you so much. Need more people like this in the world.

Two friends highly recommended Childs when my ABS light started blinking occasionally. They got me in promptly. Friendly, courteous, thorough. Called to tell me it was ready, George described what theyd seen, what theyd did in clear terms. When I picked it up, I was impressed with the cleanliness/neatness of the office and what I could see of the garage (I hadnt taken notice of either when I dropped the car off). I couldnt recommend them highly enough. Childs will be my mechanic from now on!

I brought my sons car there fully prepared to pay a fortune. After looking at the problem he told us he believed this was a problem that Nissan had a recall for. He went above and beyond and contacted Nissan himself to find out indeed this was a Nissan recall. He recommended Dans towing, who were also great, who towed the car to LIA Nissan in Saratoga who repaired the vehicle at no charge. They wrte great too. A dishonest shop wouldve just fixed it and charged me, especially since I dont know much about cars. Thank you for your honesty and saving us a lot of money.

Been to Childs Automotive twice for my 2017 Chevy Cruze, once for a brake job and most recently for an issue with the turbo. I dropped my car off on Sunday night for them to be able to look at Monday morning. Gary called around noon on Monday and had diagnosed I needed a new turbo. However the turbos were on national back order. He offered to call around and see if a dealer had one. I said go ahead because I needed the car fixed. Long story short, he was able to source the part get and get it installed by the end of day Tuesday. I could not believe the turn around time. He and his team are best in class and a pleasure to work with. I trust them with all the major repairs on my vehicles. Thank you Gary and team!

Needed to find a shop that could upgrade my suspension with a lift and new tires. Gary answered me via email and set everything up and they installed all the parts and ordered new tires. They did a fantastic job, only took them 1 day even after quoting me that it would probably take 2. Super nice, very reasonable with pricing and time. My 4Runner will only be going here from now on for EVERYTHING.

Honest, fast, & affordable. I have an older well-used vehicle, instead of upselling, overcharging, or adding problems, everything was very straightforward and direct. Friendly with fast, honest service, what more do you need? Oh thats right, the price - it was at least 1/2 the cost for an oil change compared to the stealership. If youre in the area give them a shout for your next service call. Youll save time and $$.

I would recommend Gary and staff to literally anyone; and I have. My whole family goes there. Todd, George and Nick are two who stand out to me because I was in there today with them. . I can t say enough good about Gary and the way he runs his business. I feel so taken care of by these people I really can t explain. It feels like if your own family had a car business; how you would be treated. They are some of the most professional but also friendly and I feel, knowledgeable, people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They are truly masters of their work; in both automotive and customer service. Like I said, I can t say enough. This is probably my favorite business ever. And who likes getting their car worked on? I really do tell anyone I love to go here. I m in the market for my next car and I have to say I will only buy something these guys would work on. That s how strongly I feel about them. Went to Honda dealership and they said I need 2k in parts plus labor for a new catalytic converter and a-pipe. Took it here and they stopped pipe from leaking and I went on my way paying 0. Definitely trust them and will use again going forward for everything

My wifes car wouldnt start last week. I jump-started it with our other car and brought it to Childs Automotive. They did an excellent job. They checked the whole charging system and concluded that the battery was bad. New battery and on my way in a short time. I also had a NYS vehicle inspection on her car today and this was also done in a timely and professional manner. I would recommend Childs Automotive to anyone who needs any sort of car repair done. They are professionals and their prices are reasonable. Very satisfied with my experience there.

My family has been coming to Childs for years because they never let us down. Today I called to see if they could quickly replace a tire that had picked up a screw and was losing air. I was convinced I would need a whole new tire (sadly not my first screw-in-a-tire rodeo) but George looked at it and said it could be plugged. I always appreciate their integrity - could have sold me a tire and made some money, but instead plugged it, at no charge, and truly made my day.

I won t go anywhere else. I used to live in Saratoga Springs, and would always go to Gary for regular maintenance on my car. He and his staff are honest and thorough. I had moved to North Carolina, and would come and visit them every year to check up on my car. They are very consistent especially whenever I had an issue with my car. For example, in North Carolina, a mechanic told me I need to replace my brakes right away. I took it to Gary and his staff a couple of months later without informing them what I was told by the NC mechanic, they noticed my brakes were beginning to wear but predicted I had another year left on them. And they were right! Exactly a year later, I came to them and knew it was time to replace my brakes as they did for me. I now live in Massachusetts, and will drive the four hours for them to take care of my car. That is how much I trust them. I am grateful for all of you at Child s auto! Gail Picillo

Amazing customer service, and most importantly quality of work. They hire very qualified people and are very honest and upfront with you. Even once bringing me to the back showing whats wrong and allowing me to take pics when up on the lift. HIGHLY recommend this shop to anyone, plus the prices are very reasonable.

Is there a way to give more than 5 stars? My parents and I have had our vehicles serviced at Childs Automotive for probably close to 20 years. I, unfortunately, work in the greater NYC area and I will still bring my car home to Gary s garage because my car gets fixed the right way, by HIGHLY skilled technicians, at a reasonable price. I m 200 miles away and I don t want anyone touching my car other than Childs Automotive. If you re worried about your car, you will find no better garage than Childs Automotive. They are the best garage you will EVER find.

called these guys on thursday for a broken heater and veh inspection , wont see my truck about a broken heater till monday and after making me wait to bring it in they refused to fix a broken heater? they referred me to another shop 3 exits up the northway. that shop is going out of business and wont see my truck either. They were courteous enough about it I suppose and since they were courteous and passed my vehicle inspection they get 1 star each for that. but for the wait then the run around and my truck is still broken after spending time and money there I only can grant 2 stars

I brought my car to childs after I heard and read nothing but wonderful things. I needed to my fixed ASAP due to a really bad sound coming from the drivers side that drove me nuts. I dropped my car off for a weekend, not that I really needed it at that moment, and told them to fix EVERYTHING that needed to be replaced or fixed, I didn t care what the cost I just needed a safe and reliable vehicle. They fixed everything in a very timely manor, and I was extremely happy with my car after I picked up my car. It drove like a whole new vehicle. Then about 2 weeks after picking up my car and supposedly having the problem fixed, my car started making a new noise coming from the same area that child s quote on quote fixed. It was all the time so I didn t think anything of it. Then following two weeks passed and I felt as if my car was sliding around the road, again thought nothing of it, thought it was just hydroplaning. Wasn t till 2 months after having it fixed I discovered how badly childs wrecked my car. I had 4 brand new winter tires put on 5 months prior to my visit at child s and to the human eye they seemed perfectly fine from the outside but the inside was worn so badly, metal pieces were starting to show from my tires. $600 wasted on brand new tires because an alignment was not done on my vehicle despite having suspension work done. When I took my car back Todd was the person I spoke to, I explained to him that my car didnt have any issues till I brought it to them, and why wasn t I offered an alignment. He spoke to me like I was a 5 year old child, and told me the worn away tires were not from the work they did and couldn t help me that day. He told me he couldn t put my car up on the lift for 4 days even though my car is un drivable. He was extremely rude, telling me I was pointing Fingers at his techs even though my car had 0 issues with alignment prior to bringing it there. Needless to say I will NEVER bring my car there again for any sort of work even if they were the last automotive shop in the world. The way they treated me as a paying customer who spent almost $800 was extremely unprofessional, and rude. They costed me $738 dollars plus the cost of having to bring my car else where for an alignment and replacing a set of $600 tires. Never again

After a few horrible years of using the New Country Toyota service department, we have luckily found Childs Automotive! Honest prices, great service, and friendly employees. We ll be bringing our cars here from now on.

My experience was terrible. Problem after problem with the quality of their Repair work. I was very shocked because I heard they did excellent work there. Gary , the owner did make things right finally. So, thats a positive thing. However, I would not use them again for auto repair work.

This place is the best. If youre looking for a place that will give you excellent service, friendly attitude and not charge you a million bucks, this is the place. They are honest about what your vehicle needs and will be thorough...but theyll also let you know if its not a priority that you need to waste money on. And the guys that work there seem to be having a great time at work....the singing and music you can hear from the waiting room is a hoot. Good to know theyre not miserable and unhappy while working on my car, lol.

Recently worked with George and Todd for work on both my vehicles. Both great guys, very honest, very fair prices, and completed work before I was expecting. Gary, Todd, and staff are so wonderfully nice. They have always been so incredibly helpful, and they have always gone above and beyond for me. Having someone you can call and trust, regarding your car, or anything else in life, is so cool and so appreciated. This place has a wonderful atmosphere and vibe, I always leave feeling really happy to give them any business and I recommend them to all of my friends. My whole family has gone there with great service every time. Todd once was incredibly kind and did a really generous favor for me, and Gary answered my sisters question via phone, when she was at another automotive department after moving several hours away. Gary helped me over the phone with things, too. I cant say enough good about these people. They are also so so kind to my dog, whom I bring everywhere with me and has gone to all my appointments. These are class-act, wonderful people and I cannot say my appreciation enough. They are an example of the kind of person I strive to be in all affairs of life. My dog and I always love going there-- there are also great walking trails if you are waiting for your car for a short appointment, right down the street. This is the kind of car place you always dream of going.

Stay away from this auto shop! Scammer! Gary Childs replaced my head gasket and the engine immediately began consuming oil at a rate of three quarts every 200 miles. They took 1200 from me and couldve easily just swapped the engine. My cars running great now thanks to a group of 17 year olds! I asked for a compromise and he called me full of *** and ignored his mistake. Dont go here. Wow, This man is full of lies and insults to boot! Does anyone else notice a pattern here? He also called another reviewer stupid (in so many words) by saying his car was junk. Gary will obviously take anyones money regardless of how effective his recommendation is. Nobody would pay 1200 dollars to drive for three weeks. And it wasnt burning oil at that astonishing rate until he gave me the car back. This man is a cheat and a liar and Im not backing down!

Ive been going to Garys shop since almost the time he opened it in 2000. All of his regular long-time customers know that Josh and Brian are telling tall-tales that dont even resemble the truth. Gary doesnt need me, or anyone, to defend his reputation. But, I couldnt resist adding my two-cents. Gary is the most honest, straight-dealing, fair person Ive ever encountered in the auto repair business.

Initially took my car to one of those chain shops for an inspection and a repair that I thought needed to be done in order for the car to pass. They came back with a laundry list of things that they said also needed to be done for a price of around $500, which I flat-out could not afford. Took the car to Childs for repair and they told me right off the bat that the repair was not necessary in order to pass inspection and that it could wait until I could better afford to have it done. Further they deemed the car mechanically sound. So I got the car successfully inspected and also had an oil change for $53 tax included!!! Very, very satisfied with Childs and really appreciate their honesty after the chain shop tried to take advantage of me.

I cannot recommend this place enough! They are the most well-organized, professional, honest mechanics Ive dealt with. Sometimes the owner is like that, bit not the other guys - not here, they are all great! They will accommodate your schedule and only fix what you need if they know youre not eager to spend all of your money on your car. Never disappointed.

Gary Childs built this place on integrity to the client. Best mechanic shop around. Straight shooter. For those who doubt. Go buy parts yourself and bring them to him. He has zero issue with putting them on. In fact he will always tell me when something is going and give me a time frame as to when they may go out. Now I just have him order what is needed rather than hassle myself with getting parts. My thought is let his honesty and integrity continue and I have zero regrets at keeping this business going for so many.
