Took a 6 volt non working starter from a antique truck to be rebuilt Cost $200 and they did not have a new drive for it so left the old one. got it home installed it and it barley cranked and in seconds was so hot you couldn't touch it. Brought it back and was told they found the drive was dragging and it was fixed. Same thing. brought it back again (50 mile round trip) . This time he bench tested it in front of me( using 12 volts) and again insisted it was fine and this time copped an attitude. Brought it to Boulevard Auto Electric in Queensbury. They put a new drive in and found the brush holders were bent and not contacting properly $135 and it works great

Have it fixed when reman Napa stuff doesn't work out of the box. Friendly, knowledgeable, and quick service (along with diagnostic explanation). DEFINITELY worth the drive, should have listened to my old man before.

I have been going to Con Rel so long I can't remember when I started. they have been my first stop for starter or alternator needs and I do not recall ever needing to go else whare. Small retail space but more than is needed for what they do. The work and inventory are in the back out of sight so use the bell. I thank them for the great service they provide.

Skip the auto parts store for a rebuilt starter or alternator come here instead. 30 years experience. Hand built on premises, no China junk like the box stores. These little businesses are a dying breed. Not too many of them left. Support your local business. I drove over a hour to bring them my alternator. I was very happy and glad I did not buy China junk from Napa, pep boys, etc.

Go here and give them your money. There are so few old school alternator shops left at all, and when you are diagnosing charging system problems it can be difficult to isolate the problem without being able to test each component. But the bad component can take out others in the system. The icing here is that these guys are super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable, prices are reasonable, and turnaround is *super* fast. In addition, I was able to find components here i couldn't get anywhere else, so I did my whole system at a price im really happy with in one stop. Save time and money how can you go wrong? These guys do it right, all the way. I dealt with Dave for my boat project and he was excellent but im sure that you are in good hands with anyone here. Highly recommended.

I had to replace my starter for a 2002 5.0 Volvo Penta boat motor. I had Con-rel test it to make sure it was bad and they confirmed it was. I was all ready to leave the starter there to be rebuilt but was told they could rebuild my original one if I wanted them to but that they had a replacement in stock. He said if it were his starter he would just swap it out. I took his advice and installed the starter the next day and was back on the water. He saved me four weeks wait time if I had the marina do it. If I ordered a replacement on line it would have taken a few days to arrive. I like that Con-rel is local and they are knowledgeable and friendly. I got to chat bit about boating before I left this is my second time going there. The first time was when I had to replace a starter in my car as a teenager. That replacement starter served me well. The price is right and the parts are quality. No Chinese knockoff parts found here.
