My family and I have all brought at least one of our vehicles here over the years, the service has always been high quality and they get the job done in a timely manner. 5 stars from me and I highly recommend to anyone needing muffler or exhaust work done.

This place is a joke of a repair shop not only will you have to call 10/15 times to get somebody to Answer the phone you ll get told one thing when you call to supposedly make appointments that they don t have? and then get told you gotta leave it with them for an entire day to adjust a muffler hanger, I have brought a bunch of cars here in the past for exhaust work and never had this kind of experience. Poor customer service leads to low customer retention.

Petes is the best auto repair shop Ive ever been to I had my flex pipe rot off and I called Petes they told me to drop it off and they would look at it I wasnt expecting them to be done with it that day but they were and it was a lot cheaper than I thought. I knew what was causing the very loud sound coming from the exhaust system in my 2005 Honda Civic. I estimated Petes could fix the problem for $100 to $150 (a cut, a small piece of pipe, and 2 welds). I was in Westchester County and 2 auto repair shops there told me I needed to replace most of the exhaust system, parts and labor costing about $2,000. The next day, I left at 4:30 a.m. in order to arrive at Petes before they opened at 8:00 a.m. (wearing earphones and hoping not to get pulled over for the loud noise on the drive up to Schenectady). While I was waiting for the repair at Petes, I took a nap and read the current days Albany Times Union and the current days New York Times on the window ledge (very impressive) and watched a little T.V. 2 1/2 hours later I paid $116 (plus a $10 tip for the mechanic/welder) and I was on my way by 10:30 a.m. I have been a loyal Petes customer and recommending Petes to family and friends for over 35 years. I love the many multi-generational small family owned businesses in Schenectady.

This shop is run by honest people that get the job done quickly for a decent price. They arent trying to rip folks off. Very impressed by the level of professional business practices at Petes auto. If you have an older vehicle, this is the place to take it in to be worked on.

Got a reference here from a friend. Sooooo glad I took the advice. I had a broken tailpipe behind my resonator. I priced shopped and could only find places that would replace parts. The prices ranged from $650 (for a it may work) to over $2000 (for a complete replacement). I then went to look to just fix it myself and it would be $625 for parts. I went to Petes and they were able to find a solution for $183. I dropped off my 1999 Camera; yes 1999, and even though they were extremely busy and understaffed, they got me in and out in a few hours. Pete is an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guy as is his staff. I dont know how to thank him enough or say enough amazing things about his business. I almost hate to write this review because he is already super busy, but his business is worth writing about and highly recommending. Thank you Pete for keeping my old girl on the road!!!

What an excellent shop and repair experience! Sometimes owning an older vehicle is a pain and also a challenge to find a repair shop. I was referred to Petes by another auto shop that does my tires and alignments. They said, you are going to love this place. Wow, is all I can say. Petes far exceeded my expectations and I cant say thank you enough. Just go there, you wont be disappointed.

This was probably the most positive and straightforward service experience Ive ever had. I dropped my car off at 8am for an exhaust leak, they called me at 11am to confirm what my mechanic told me and get approval for the repair, and then called me at 1:45pm saying it was done. There really is something to be said for clear and honest expectations, and a quick repair that doesnt break the bank. 10/10 would use them again. FYI, they dont take appointments so get there when they open.

Although I will admit I am bias, this is the absolute only place to bring your car regardless of whether I happen to know the very intelligent and hard working staff here. This is a welcoming and non-pressure location where I can tell you no matter if you are a female with zero knowledge of cars or a dude familiar under the hood you will be treated fairly. Very great hours all week as well as some weekend open hours as well as very competitive prices !

I love Petes. They are another local exhaust repair shop that has the ability to construct pipes. They are also reasonable and if they cant repair the problem, I have experienced them being very fair about charges with me.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place Im really just very impressed with the professionalism and how well they treat their customers how fair the prices are how quick they are to give you the information all upfront. Ive never been disappointed in any of the work that theyve done. I am forever grateful for this auto shop. I think my favorite part is that they never ever speak to me in that condescending tone that Ive gotten from every other shop Ive ever been to. These guys know what theyre doing.

My long time mechanic told me I needed all new piping, a new catalytic converter, and two mufflers to the tune of $4k. Pete had a look and said a piece of pipe merely needed to be welded in. Only a few hundred for the work. Its been running great since. Very honest and good work.

This place was great!! My Honda Pilot needed a new resonator for months, but it s been on back order with no known back in stock date. I was also told I d have to replace the whole exhaust system (it s 1 pc, not 3 like on some vehicles), almost $1200 for parts and labor. I couldn t take the noise anymore. My brother in-law spoke very highly of Pete. I called Pete s Auto and they said I could drop it off and they d see what they could do. I dropped off a roaring beast and picked up a quiet, peaceful kitten. They cut out the bad and welded in a good replacement for under $200!! I wish I called months ago. Thanks Pete s Auto!!

dropped my car off and got my blower motor and resistser installed and my rear shocks installed,275.00 i waa very happy with the price and the work,there definitely my new mechanics,my sons and family too.

I brought my car to Petes Auto, recommended by a friend. I needed a gas tank. It took about 4 days to come in. My car sat there and I waited for the call that it was done. I paid for it and drove off the lot to get gas in it. As I was pumping gas I noticed the door handle was snapped off. I went back to tell Pete and he said it didnt happen there. When I got home I noticed the door handle was under the front seat of my car. I checked security where I live and it was clearly on the day I brought it to Petes. I certainly didnt pull it off myself self stick my hand out the window while driving then stick it under the front seat of my car. They denied it was done there. I will never go there again. It is not a safe area to leave your car. I always lock my doors!!!!

Took my car here a couple of months ago to replace just the mid pipe and this place did a horrible job, I recently had the engine light go on, I put the vehicle on the lift and took a look at the exhaust and I was very upset at how they replaced the mid pipe, they destroyed my o2 sensors and did not leave space to replace them, they also welded the mid pipes because they didn t know how to properly install it so they cut a brand new mid pipe just to weld it on to the car to make there job easier, when I went to replace the sensors they were destroyed because the sensors were constantly hitting the firewall, I work at a dealership and had a master tech look at it and he also said that this place did a horrible job and he doesn t know how they are a certified shop. Have a dual exhaust on my truck. One side fell off on Central Avenue. Upon inspection, discovered a hole in the other side. Was told the whole system needed to be replaced to the tune of upwards of $2,000.00. I remembered my father went to Petes when I was a kid 40+ years ago. Stopped in Saturday, got an estimate for, are you ready? $125.00 plus tax!! Was warned that it was possible if they found anything else when they lifted it, it could affect the cost. Well guess what? Unlike most shops, they honored the original estimate. I was in and out in about 2 hours on Monday morning with a rebuilt exhaust system that sounds better than when I bought the truck. Thank you Petes. Do yourself a favor and go here FIRST!!!

I dont usually leave reviews. Repair shops usually get bad raps. I usually do my own repairs but was in a bind. Petes did a good job on my sons Jetta so I gave them a call. In & out same day. The call and kept me informed and gave a couple of options and prices. My 98 Grand Cherokee is quite now, rattle free and no more engine light and stop light sputters. My trip went great the next day. Thanks guys!

I do not know anything about cars but I trust anything he says needs to be fixed. Hes been honest about what needs to be repaired and what I can hold off on. The service is quick and very affordable. I cannot recommond this place enough. Although, Pete has been getting very busy recently so I urge you to get there first thing in the morning. I leave my car throughout the day and walk to work. Its always done by the time I end my day.

Did my exhaust work for very cheap. Fantastic job. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is they broke one my o2 sensors doing my exhaust replacement. I didnt notice until i got home. Oh well, mistakes happen.

Terrific service at a shockingly good value. My Mustang required custom exhaust work, and after being turned away by the dealership, I was told to try Petes Auto. Once they took a look at my set-up, they came-up with a solution and had me back on the road the next day. Car runs like a dream.

Fast honest service, period!

Quick, honest, straight forward and professional. Car wouldnt stay running, had to be alternator. Brought it in for that and oil change. Seems I had two loose bolts on alternator. Fixed that, oil change, under 50 bucks. CANNOT BEAT THAT! They are new mechanics for me but I proudly support them. They can get busy so dont wait till last minute, book an appointment.

I went to Petes last Saturday to get an estimate for repair of my exhaust system which had been growling and rattling for a while. The last estimate I had gotten was at a chain muffler shop for $800. I was told that I had to replace everything from the catalytic converter on back. The guys at Petes looked at it, told me they could repair the broken part. It cost me $48! No more growling and no more rattling - and I didnt have to take out a loan to fix it! I LOVE this place! Thank you so much! And yes, its first come first serve, no appointments but good, honest auto service is worth the wait in my opinion!

Have been here 3 times over past 2 years for planned and unplanned maintenance (changing tires, inspections, caliper issues, etc.) and have ALWAYS been happy with quality and pricing. Only thing is that they are so busy that service is basically first come first serve.

Hands down best in the area, perhaps the state. Sent my college senior to Pete and instructed my son to: a) ask for Pete; b) tell Pete that he was a college student and needed to keep the car on the road for his last year of school, and; c) that he needed it safe top to bottom. Another service station had quoted my son over 2k and said he needed a new exaust system, new brakes, and 4 new tires just to keep the car legal. Pete fixed the exhaust (needed a $20 part), so we bought the tires and brakes there even though we probably could have shopped around and saved a few bucks. Final cost? $750, including inspection. Petes Auto? Priceless

My first experience was with a Caprice Classic in 2006. I went to 2 different places for my exhaust and this was the 3rd. I arrived at closing time and inquired with Pete as to what was going on. He put it up on the lift (after closing time) rather than replace the whole system as suggested by the other places, was able to remove and replace the trouble piece of my exhaust right then and there. And at a fraction of the price! I love this place. Going to drop my car off right now!

No B.S. just quality work at super affordable prices. Also, he wont do work that is out of his expertise, so call ahead first. Called got put on hold for over 5 minutes, then got hung up on, called again didnt answer. Then finally got thru just to get put on hold again and I told him and they didnt care

You have to be prepared that this is a busy place - because they are THAT good. Its first come, first serve, so be there when they open and there will still be a line. They just dont have the luxury of time to coddle you through the process. If you can live with that, this is the best place to take your car. They once completely replaced the entire exhaust system of our truck for a price so ridiculously low that they told me not to tell anyone. But today was my best experience so far. Yesterday I was driving down the road and a strange sound alerted me to the fact that my muffler was about to fall off. I pulled into the closest muffler place and they told me that they would have to replace everything because it was all rotted out and it would cost me $1300 and take 4 days to get the parts in. I said no thanks and brought it into Petes today. Evidently, there is nothing wrong with my muffler. Nothing is rotted. The only thing that had to be fixed was the part that attaches the muffler to the car. Cost me 20 bucks. Thank goodness there are honest mechanics out there.

A trustworthy mechanic. We took in our car for a muffler issue. They repaired it instead of replacing the whole thing, saving us time and money. The repairs were completed on time, they did quality work, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The following day, I took our family van in for an inspection and oil change. Since I was waiting for the car, they bumped it up in the waiting line, and completed the job within one hour. I walked to Cappiellos and Villa Italia while I waited. Cant beat that!
