I had scheduled a person from Duell to come to my house to see my current non-working water softener and get a quote to replace it. I got a real time quote that was very reasonable and Installation of new equipment within 3 hours of there on time arrival. Nate did the installation and was very efficient, knowledgeable easy to work with. If I need a plumber in the future Im going to ask for Nate.

Don t waste time with handyman plumbers just to save money. Call the professionals! I averted a potential disaster by ignoring the handyman s solution to install an air admittance valve under the sink for the dishwasher to clear kitchen sink slow draining issue. Called Duell and they showed up within the next hour, promptly determined my mainline was clogged and snaked it out. All my drains are flowing clear now and the dishwasher operates fine. Duell has amazing customer service and excellent knowledge of older plumbing systems.

They do decent enough work but they need to be upfront with their pricing. A few other places gave me a price for the call out and diagnostic fee in one price. I chose them because I had them do work before and it was good. The call out fee was 125 but had no idea what the diagnostic fee was which was about another 125 . This was to shut the water off to a boiler that has a bad valve. Before they touch anything they should have given me the price. Especially if they expect the money on the spot. Its like going for an oil change and a mechanic charging you for a transmission flush too. Not saying they are a bad business but this is what happened with my last experience. So if you do use them for your plumbing needs just make sure you get the full price for the call out and diagnostic or at least some estimates. This seems to be a growing common trend with a lot of home repair contractors where it almost appears as though they try to trap you with not being transparent with prices.

When our basement flooded recently we reached out to Duell Plumbing to locate the problem. They opened the wall and within a few minutes found the clog. They are knowledge, timely and friendly to work with. I We wont hesitate to call them again if needed.

I have used Duell Plumbing services many times. Ive had a furnace installed, tankless hot water heater, and other plumbing repairs. They are very professional and courteous and do excellent work at a reasonable price.

My issue popped up late on a Sunday and they were the first one to call me Monday morning and offered to tackle my plumbing issue head on. Dan was terrific and while he worked independently, he made sure to bring me up to speed, walk me thru the issues, share his knowledge and expertise. Highly recommend.

Called them for an urgent situation at my work and they responded same day (under two hours!!!). Their two techs (Dan and his partner, I didnt catch his name!) that came in today were also some of the nicest and most down to earth people who explained everything. I dont understand the 1 star reviews of Duell. I decided to check the two people that said more than I cant recommend Duell plumbing, and the majority of their other reviews were also negative. We were having issues because the shut-off valves for all three of our toilets werent working, and in order to properly clean a toilet it requires shutting off the fill and flushing to reveal most of the inside toilet surfaces to clean. These valves were probably the originals installed with the house (1963), and they just werent working. We also had three bathroom sinks, and the kitchen sink shut-off of the same vintage. We also had an outside faucet whos line ran from the utility bathroom through the garage, and out the side of the garage. The line used was a copper pipe, and the shut-off valve for it was inside the utility room wall with two small louvered doors 24 high that were mostly blocked by the sink. I had a three foot piece of 1 dowel I had designed to reach the shut-off. I had to use it hanging over the sink, leaning upside down, and watching in a mirror and a flashlight in order to turn it off. Even thought I tried to faithfully turn it off before the freeze, I had forgotten one year, and one year I turned it off but must have forgotten to release the pressure and leave the faucet open outside. Well, the pipe in both instances split, and Id fixed it the first time myself, and just hadnt gotten around to repairing it the second. Not knowing who to trust, I looked up HomeAdvisor on-line and contacted them to get recommendations. I got quotes from two firms in the neighborhood of $1500.00 each, and a three to five week lead time. My wife knew Duell from her time as a teller in the bank, and suggested I call them. I told them what we needed done, and they came out that afternoon to see what they needed to do. Their quote was less than 1/2 what the others quoted, and they came two days later to do the jobs. When they came, they discovered they needed more materials to do the job, and one workman went to get them, while the other one went to work replacing the ancient shut-offs with standard 1/4 turn ones (read newest technology). I described the outside line issue above, and when they started to run that line, they had to remove the bathroom sink, and one of the guys climbed into the itty-bitty space ( I still dont know how he fit, he was broad shouldered and muscular) to remove the old line and shutoff and run the new (flexible plastic) line to the outside. They asked me if I wanted the shut-off in that cupboard (are you kidding?) and I said not if they could help it. They installed it in the garage (in plain site and easily reached), and installed a Frost Free Anti-Siphon faucet. With the run for the extra materials (connection lines for two toilets) and all the hassle to install the outside line (and a couple of extra shut-offs to replace the last of the ancient monsters) they were still in and out in three hours, and didnt charge a dime extra. I HIGHLY recommend Duell!

I apologize for not thanking members of the Duell staff for their very kind help last November when my water heater starting flooding my basement. They responded immediately and came to see the problem. They installed a new water heater as quickly as possible. What a good business!!!

Fixed leak that sprung below the shut off valve. Service was quick and still seems to be all working well. Given this is an old house, I have no doubt I will need to call for service again sometime and consider this company a reliable place to call.

Duell came to the house. I explained the situation prior that it maybe my tankless water heater. They came to the house and told me everything worked fine. An hour later my wife came home and told me the hot water wasnt working. I called duell back(nate was the the technician). He came back to the house and told me that they dont really work on the tankless heaters and that he would be back in 3 day. Well he didnt make it back, $400 for my system to still not work. Call cristifulli brothers!. They can, diagnosed the problem and fixed the problem instead of offer to install a new unit for $2k plus the $400 to tell you they cant fix it!!

To keep this review professional I will just say I was shocked with how much they charged for fixing something that did not fix the issue but may have been a contributor and then quoted an insane amount to then fix the main issue.

Duell has taken care of some challenging issues in my steam system and radiant floor heating. Go to them for sure for some old house expertise!

I have had several jobs done by Duell Plumbing & Heating . I always had very good experiences with them . From heating to toilet to pipes for lawn hoses. Always experience the fast response ,always on time (if they say a time they are there )the quality and value are excellent and yes after all that they are Professional . I would not recommend duell for issues with your hot water heater. They came and said the issue was taken care of. An hour later we had no hot water and were out $400. Duell said they would come back for and extra charge but they werent knowledgeable about our issue and we could get another new hot water heater for $2k. We called cristifulli brothers. They flushed out our hot water heater and everything worked fine!

Reliable and quick! They decommissioned my gas line so that my new electric stove could be installed. It was done in a flash!

These guys fixed my plumbing issue with very little notice. I had a plumbing problem and I called a few companies that could not fix it in short notice. Duell Plumbing and Heating was able to come and get it taken care of within a couple of hours. There rates were very reasonable and they were very professional. Highly recomend Duell.

We have relied on Duell for the past few years. As our house is aging (50+ years), plumbing needs some TLC! Duells is our go-to plumber. They are always on time, give us a written estimate before starting, work is great, and they are friendly and neat! Over the years we have had some unpleasant experiences with plumbers. Glad to put that behind us, and just call Duell.

Preparing to sell our house, we needed some of the pipes replaced . Steve did a great job, left the areas cleaned up, answered any questions I may have had & in general was very professional. This is not the first time Ive called them. About 2 yrs. ago we had 2 Kohler toilets installed. Talk about professional. I never met any plumber who was more passionate about Plumbing then Nate. He & Corey(I think) had the job done in no time at all. They have also replaced Sump pumps for us. I have passed their name on to the new owners of our home. Hope they call on them as needed.

Not very pleased. Failed to disclose that he was going to charge a service call fee on the phone (we were actively declining anything except free estimates but it s also on us for not asking). Immediately quoted $8000 on the phone for a full service water line replacement. Came out, looked around and jumped it to $9k. Stated he would look into the city diagrams for official final quote and when it came in it was for $12,500! It s like he could smell our desperation as the city was going to send a notice regarding the supply line leak. Still we declined and found a company that quoted the original $8000 and they did a great job. I ll pay the service fee only because I never want to deal with this company again. Highly suggest if they keep jacking up their verbal quotes to just steer away. They re only looking for a pay day.

We had a gas-fired water heater installed. The guys worked efficiently and quickly. The old unit was moved out and the new one in with no damage to floors or walls. This company still provides REAL service in a time when this is not always the case. I placed calls and left messages on a Friday night to 4 companies. The owner of Duell Plumbing Rick called me back on a SUNDAY! The 3 other local big companies NEVER even called me back. Duell Plumbing help me with a service that was difficult, the tech Nate was compassionate and pleasant, there was an issue preventing completion of the service, Duell Plumbing offered to come back the following day with a new plan and completed the service above and beyond what they needed to do without fees. You wont find folks that will go the extra mile for you like those at Duell Plumbing!

They also installed a new water main from my house out into the main in the road, and moved my outside faucet to a different location. This was a big job. I called Duell Plumbing & Heating for help with an unexpected shower leak that was dripping through the ceiling. They returned my call quickly and were able to work around my schedule to have a team out first thing the following morning. Nate and his crew arrived early and quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. When I asked about updating my double-handled shower to a single handle, Nate explained the process and provided a quick estimate on the spot. Thinking I would have to schedule another appointment, I was impressed when Nate and his team said they could complete the upgrade that same day. We scheduled an appointment and sent pictures of where the shower was leaking. In the pictures that we reviewed with the owner prior it showed a tiled shower and tiled floor. Owner sent out his workers to stay for 5 minutes and tell us that they do not work on tile, waste of time, and then charged us $125 for the five minute visit! The owner should have stated his business doesnt work with tile. Spoke to owner afterwards about this and was yelled at and interrupted numerous times. Completely unprofessional!

Had plumbing service performed as well as heating service. Both times work was efficient, thorough and completed very professionally.

They are quick to get there but you will pay for it. It cost about $440 just to have them check for a leak and they used no tools and were at the property for about 10 mins. Nice people but I would shop around before I called them unless it s an absolute emergency.

Plumbing problems

Called Duell on a Monday. They scheduled me for service/review on Wednesday. Plumber was on time and able to give me an estimate on the spot. I said yes to the estimate, and he completed the work immediately. No I need to schedule you a week or two out. Justin was the plumber that came out. Very nice, professional, transparent with the costs of every single item needed to take care of replacing pipe and two leaking shut-offs in the house. Had the whole of it done in a 2-2.5 hours max. I can now water my plants and yard without a bucket to catch dripping water. Their pricing was in-line with one other plumber who bothered to come out, so no price gouging here. You get what you pay for and they did a great job. I was not expecting them to complete work on same day, but they did. Thank you to Justin and Duell Plumbing and Heating!

After discovering a water-damaged gas line and receiving a recommendation from a contractor, I gave Richard Duell a call. After both a phone call and texted photos, he determined that the line would need to be replaced and was able to squeeze me in that day. Instead of just replacing the section of crumbling line, the workers rerouted the line to avoid any future water issues. Reasonable price which was agreed upon prior to starting, will hire again.

Faulty diverter in shower. Techs isolated the problem immediately and quickly repaired. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

I tried to get a toilet flange replaced which is not a hard job. They tried to convince me to replace the plumbing in the entire bathroom which I agreed. I asked a question and the person replied with an attitude. Pretty much if you don t have a huge job you will get over charged or ghosted like me. Cristafulli Brothers waaaaaaay better and cheaper by far.

I had water pouring from my ceiling in my garage because of the water not shutting off in the toilet above. They were able to come the same day and replaced the insides of all three of my toilets so I wouldnt have to worry about any of them developing a leak. The were kind, thorough and patient with all of my questions. I would definitely recommend them!

If I could give these guys 10 stars, I would. The owner, Rick, and the 2 techs that helped us were so professional and accommodating, moving things around in their schedule to try to get us heat. Everything was explained to me in detail and it was obvious they are very knowledgeable about their work. They all work very hard, working long 12 hour days to help their customers. Their level of customer service is is at the top and I couldnt ask for a better experience than we got. I will hire them in the future.

Wouldnt think twice about using

The owner was not clear about the estimated work cost upfront and the job cost 2x as much as was anticipated. If we would have been aware of this upfront, we would have gotten additional quotes. The work was completed well but the pricing was outrageous. We did get subsequent quotes after the work was done which confirmed the very high pricing.

Communicates prices and appointment times clearly. Works with you to get the best value for your money. Great local business.

Nate and Sam helped to rebuild piping in our master bath. They were very professional, efficient, and kept us informed through the entire process. They were also really great with my large dogs which was a big bonus. I was a new customer and they made it such an easy process for a pretty stressful situation. We will definitely call again. Duell Plumbing provided us the sloppiest and most incompetent workmanship imaginable. We purchased a new furnace from Duell two years ago. The day after installation the water measuring tube leaked. Shortly after that the furnace would not kick on. This was on a night that would have freezing temperatures. Trying to get help late afternoon became a negotiating game. The tech we had dealt with throughout the installation pointed out they close at 5 . No emergency service, no weekend service because to quote we do the job right the first time. He finally would come over after hours if his wife would let him. Today we had Schenectady Fire and National Grid at the house for a gas leak. The gas leak courtesy of the furnace. Duell installed the wrong valve to connect the gas to the furnace. We also made the mistake of purchasing a water heater from Duell This was before the furnace. We have rented the house and needed new insurance. When the inspector came to the house it was discovered a venting pipe was not put on the water heater at the time of installation. This is a standard part of the water heater and needed for code. Thank you Duell plumbing for providing so much business to Crisafulli brothers. Crisafulli brothers will be at the house Bill Earley tomorrow to replace the incorrect furnace valve.

We hired Duell Plumbing while renovating two apartments in our Schenectady rental. Duells price was higher than others bidders (we had a signed contract) but we needed the work completed ASAP. Duell completed the first apartment setting all fixtures, toilet, vanity, sinks etc. and did only a partial completion of the other. After indicating that our permit was expiring (which was untrue) Rick Duell indicated he wanted to be paid in full for an incomplete job. Rick Duell held us financial hostage and would not sign off on the City issued permit (so we could hire another plumber) unless he was paid in full for an incomplete job. Duell Plumbing is an unscrupulous and unprofessional company as well as being rude and insulting! Pictures below is what Duell calls a 100% completed job

My husband and I experienced issues with our boiler since moving in to our new home. Monstrous noises, bad vents, loss of water, continual short cycling - you name it, we had it. Just short of a handful of plumbers came to our house and none could figure out the issues, particularly the short cycling. It was puzzling everyone. We finally found and reached out to Mr. Duell. He was extraordinarily attentive and kind, talking through every single thing we had experienced. He analyzed photos and videos we sent. He assigned one of his specialists, Nate, to our home who worked for hours over the course of two days to assess, rule out, and eventually diagnose and remedy the issues present. Nate and Rich consulted over the phone tirelessly to find solutions. Nate was extremely professional, knowledgeable, diligent, and persistent. He treated our home and concerns as if they were his own. He is an excellent representative of Mr. Duell s business and we will not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Duell and Nate again for any plumbing and heating issues we may have.

My family has been managing the affairs of my elderly mother-in-law from two states away due to the pandemic, which has been a challenge all around. When she had an issue with the gas line to her dryer, Duell was the only local plumber who got back to me in a timely fashion, and they had a team there within about an hour. More impressive still, when they realized that it was in fact a propane line rather than natural gas and that they werent able to service it, they not only contacted me to explain the situation and recommend someone who could help, but also waived their call out fee, something they absolutely didnt have to do. I called this company a few weeks ago MR. Duell came to my house within an hour of me calling and explaining what was going with my main sewer line. Since I was a new homeowner didnt know what to do and the cost kept going up and MR. Duell assure me he will find a problem and fix it. Which they came yesterday and fix my sewer line problem. Quick, professional, and knowledgeable. They are little pricey but worth it. They were able to find issue and write up a quote right away. Find issue (snaking, jet washing, and camera) Replacing line from house to septic tank Fixing drain from 2nd floor bathroom (all new piping in basement) They were able to start work in 2 business days (had to wait for 411). All work done in 1 day. Cleaned up after themselves. Only issue I had was they had to cut into both sides of a wall and didnt fix the drywall afterwards. It was behind the fridge so not a big deal.

They come quick, do a good job, and clean up well before they leave.

You may find the prices at Duell Plumbing and Heating slightly (only slightly) higher than you could find elsewhere.
