I went to Midas for the first time to get my 2019 Honda Ridgeline inspected. They said it would be 1.5 hours because of all that needs to be done. There were 3 open bays and 2 cars in the parking lot. Seemed wrong right off the bat. Ok.. so be it. Left the truck and had a neighbor bring me home instead of waiting. Fast forward, I get pictures of different parts of my truck, one of which shows oil around one of my front struts. I was told that one strut was almost completely out of oil, and the other was leaking too. I was also told that the difference between 6/32 and 7/32 tread depth on the front tires shows the effects of having bad struts- which is in no way a reliable way of proving that, being a small fraction of a difference. Anyway, it was recommended I get the struts replaced and they happen to have an estimate prepared. $1600 for 2 non-oem struts installed. This is not included alignment. I called Saratoga Honda and they quoted $1200 with oem parts. $400 more from Midas with non original parts??? No thanks. I asked how much to have my tires rotated, considering they had to take one wheel off to inspect my brakes. I was told 30 something to 50 something. So...I ask, whats the range about? I was told well, they may need balancing too. I said they dont need to be balanced. I was told, YOU dont know that. Ok... thats another no thanks. Had I been told sure, rotation is 30 dollars, for example, I would have said sure. Instead, I was told a range and a comment basically questioning my understanding of what I need. Needless to say, that was my first and last trip to Midas. We all have to eat and business is business. I get it. But, having an attitude (which I have not mentioned until now), insulting my intelligence, trying to drastically upsell after market struts, and telling me an inspection will take 1.5 hours because of everything that needs to be done, lost you a customer. I only write this to try and help other customers from being ripped off and lied to.

I went there for they semi synthetic oil, change and tire rotation and was denied it because the manger there said my car was not allowed semi synthetic and that i had to put full synthetic oil in my 07 honda accord will never go here again terrible experience and the manger was very disrespectful trying to tell me what kind of oil my vehicle takes

I have been using Midas (the Glenville store specifically) forever a decade. Ive seen it go through several managers. One thing that didnt change was the friendliness of all the employees and managers! They would explain in detail all things they had done for the several different cars Ive owned. Never had a problem with them. Current mgr very welcoming and easy to talk to. Dont have anything bad to say about the store. Job well done!

I have made an appointment with Midas for a tire repair on my wife s car, when I arrived at the shop Matt greeted me , it was a short wait and the car was in the shop for the tire repair, Matt explained the new paperless process, I was quite impressed to see this being always used to paperwork, it wasn t long at all the repairs were done, all the information and digital pictures and video was sent to my phone, this is very impressive, I will definitely recommend this shop for repairs.

Rear brakes and rotors in less than 4 hours no appointment. Excellent customer service with explanations and pictures of necessary repairs. Have had multiple vehicles serviced with good results.

Matt and his team helped me out with an issue concerning my lug nuts after they had become swollen due to a known manufacturer issue. This was only brought to my attention after I had failed my inspection and went to do the work myself only to find I couldnt get my tires off like one would normally expect. After speaking with Matt, we came to fair conclusion that would leave us both satisfied. His team really went above and beyond with helping me out and much faster than I expected. Despite being a big box mechanic shop, Matt treats it like the small town garage you come to know and trust. Im traditionally skeptical of larger garages and expected a long drawn out process resulting in being broke by the end of this whole process. I was pleasantly surprised that I still had money in my wallet to afford dinner afterwards. He made me a believer that good mechanics can be found still. Definitely will be returning in the future to this location as long as he and his team are around.

Been coming here for years and always received fair service and treatment in particular by manager, Matt Up until my most recent visit here. I called them on a Tuesday to make an appointment for an inspection on a Friday. I let them know I ll be waiting with the vehicle, and they reassured me they had tons of availability and not to worry. I arrive and to Matt s credit, he was upfront that the inspection would likely take 2 hours. I mentioned that it seemed excessive for an inspection considering I made an appointment to wait with the vehicle, and he simply replied that all shops will take 2+ hours for an inspection or make me wait weeks for an appointment which really made no sense considering I had just made this very appointment a few days prior. I didn t have time to wait two hours for a state inspection and frankly Didn t want an unwilling shop working on my car anyway so I took the car down the road to Monroe Who were able to get me In and out for an inspection in 20 minutes. That shop has earned my business going forward, and I would recommend anyone who values their time do the same.

Just went for oil change and state inspection on an estimated 101 . Ended up paying $799 as they will charge for u for everything and find every possible way they can exploit you to buy their service.

They can t preform a NYS inspection on a ram 2500 truck. I guess they only work on cars ?

Automobile inspection was scheduled rather quickly and was done kindly without waiting in line. Very happy with the courtesy, advice, and professionalism even with construction in the process on site.

I have been searching to get my Tesla model Y NYS inspected and I was not able to find a place where they would consider my car. I booked my appointment with Midas for 2PM and was out by 2:25. I am super impressed by the friendly staff. Great work and I will definitely go back.

They lost my business for life. I went in for an inspection, vehicle passed but it was noted front brakes were getting low, quoted $450 to replace them soon. Since there was no push to get them done that day or immediately I went about my life with a new sticker, Happy enough with the visit to know id be back soon for the repair. I returned a mere 1400 miles later for the work and the estimate is now $2000+, front and back brakes/rotors need to be replaced, ?brake line flush?, calipers, the works. despite making me feel like it was a dire situation that should be addressed immediately it just didnt sound right so I held off. I figured the estimate would change a little between visits but they laid it on thick. Im glad I held off, Monro up the street did the work for under $800 out the door. Being honest, Monro ended up covering the pads under warranty (pleasant surprise) which cut down on price a bit but for example, Calipers and brake lines were fine. Im sure they will hide behind their youre always welcome to get a 2nd opinion shtick I see in other reviews but I think they tried to pull a stinker in all honesty. Do yourself a favor and take them up on that 2nd opinion. My calipers were fine, theres really no other way to frame it. Sad to see after browsing reviews this seems like a common tactic used here

Very helpful, I was having a mechanical emergency. My mothers cars front wheel was about to fall off with only 1lug nut and stud holding the wheel on the axle, out of 4 lugs and studs. Found this out while trying to get the car inspected at Valvoline. Valvoline couldnt repair it. So I literally had to have it towed across the parking lot to Midas . They took as soon as they had a bay, found me a discount coupon and did the inspection when they were done the the tire . All that with out an appt or prior contact. After working all night and no sleep, pouring rain, the were very nice and accommodating . I have had no problems with the wheel since.

I have been going here for a few years. They are very kind, trustworthy and go out of their way to explain issues to you so that you feel comfortable enough to make decisions about your car. 10/10 would recommend

I had problems with AAA and Walmart not being super helpful, but Matthew went above and beyond to assist me. He found the right tire for me to order, was ready to bring my car in as soon as it came in the mail, and called me when he had updates. Thank you so much for the amazing service! Will definitely be coming back next time I have tire problems.

I was serviced twice at this same location. I had new tire and tail lights installed. Manager Matthew was very kind and professional. I was able to drop my car off and then go directly to work in less than 10 minutes.I received updates about my car while they worked on it. At pickup, he let me know of any concerns and how they could possibly be resolved. My car was aligned, and the tires are running great. Tech George was very nice and also spoke to me shortly as he handed over the car. I was very nervous about dropping my car off for new tires, as it was my first time. They both made me feel better.I will be returning.

They once were able to quickly address my mom s flat tire she faced as she left my home to travel back downstate and today I went to them for my car inspection and the service was exceptional. The suggested repairs to my car were also very fair priced!

i made an appointment online and it made me choose a window of time, i chose 4-6 because i work until 5. i have a confirmation email saying my appointment is confirmed for 4-6, it doesn t list a specific time at all. i got to the shop at 5:15 and am told my appointment was at 4 and that my car can t be worked on today. the excuse i was given is that, the online system is really bad, and the manager was supposed to call me and confirm the time. i received no phone calls, only an email that says 4-6. so now i ve wasted my time driving here after work, i have to find a new place to go, schedule another appointment on another day that i m free, etc. if you wanted me there at 4 then i should ve been able to schedule an appointment for 4, not for a 2 hour window of arrival, or i should ve been told that i need to arrive at 4. nowhere does it say i cannot arrive within the window of time

I had Glenville Midas install 4 new tires, that I had purchased online, on my rims and then I took my car to another establishment for a previously booked inspection. It passed with flying colors. Given the 4 new tires, I wanted a front end alignment. Also, given the good experience that I have had over the years, I thought I would give Midas the business. The next thing I knew, Matt said I needed all new inner AND outer tie rod ends at a cost of $469. It wouldn t have passed inspection if they were all bad. They showed me that the right side was seized due to rust, however I could also see that the left side, that had been replaced a few years ago was still adjustable and in serviceable condition. I installed the inner tie rod myself, verified everything was tight and took it somewhere else for the alignment. Disappointed that they tried to sell me something that I didn t need

Matt and his staff made sure I was taken care of. I was 3 hrs from home with a misfire happening in my 2014 mazda CX5. Matt waited for 15 mins past closing time for me to get there with my car and was able to fix it at minimal cost (only what NEEDED to be fixed) therefore saving me money and grief. Ive been struggling financially, but needed to go in for an oil change, a burnt out brake light (which needed to have the car partly disassembled to replace), & ...while there received the unwelcome news that my inspection was due in a few weeks. When I expressed my personal situation, the representative I dealt with gave me an excellent discount on the services, for which Im very grateful.

Usually I dont like going to service centers, but theyre great here. Down to earth, really personable, and overall great to do business with.

My sister and I have been having a problem with our cooling system in our car which continues to overheat the engine. Every time my father brings our car to this place, the employees say it s a different problem every time & continue to charge $300+. After over $800 spent on the same problem, nothing has been fixed. We have used this place for a long time with many other services and have been loyal customers for a long time however I will not use this place again.

*STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT* Brought my 2012 Mazda 3 to Midas in Glenville NY Saratoga Road Saturday Friday June 18 due to brake noise. Was told brakes needed replacement. Matt the counter worker also called to tell me the technician observed that my air conditioning was not as cold as it should be. I stated I did not detect any problem. They recommended recharge free on . I agreed with the recommendation. I picked up the car that evening and I drove it home with and found the air conditioning was making an coolant smell and my daughter and I got face full of toxic coolant mist coming out of vents. I returned the car the next morning 6/19. Was not told later that day the problem was heater core and they could do the repair. I picked up the car Saturday June 26 at 730 am after paying balance in full $1757 dollars and got about 10 miles away from home and car overheated. I immediately called Midas for instructions and advised to tow the car back in. Today 7/1 I am now being told the problem is a head gasket and engine needs to replaced and they would do it for $2800. Numerous times throughout this process asked if the work was outside of their scope and they assured me it was not. They are now trying to say the head gasket was the problem pre existing the air conditioning problem. The sequence of that story does not add up. So now I am out $1,750 PLUS needs a New engine and being told they are not at fault. I have filed an BBB complaint and next NYS Attorney General. looks like I need to get a replacement vehicle now. Feel free to share and spread the word. I hope no one else has to go through this horror.

Said there was something wrong with my brakes but would not tell me what was wrong, went in looked at my rotors and they were rusted which is not hard to figure out, they then continued to say that my power steering line was leaking however there was no leakage just need to put new power steering fluid in. Definitely did all they could to take money from me, I am not impressed, the only thing keeping from passing inspection actually was my license plate light. Which they could have changed easily. I firmly believe they didn t actually inspect my car correctly or thoroughly I don t recommend them.

They will sell you brakes when you dont need them. They take advantage of those who dont know about cars.

Went in for an inspection, major fear mongering going on. Warned me that winter tires burst when driven during the summer because they are made out of a different kind of rubber and he wouldn t drive more than 30 miles on them, he wanted to let me know since I had children. FYI they drove from NY to KY without any issue. Inspection was fine, but same tactics were used on everyone that came in.

This Midas is great. Manager always helpful and they never try to rip you off. They tell you the actual status of your car instead of blowing things out of proportion.

Stay away from this place, I had an inspection done and they failed my car for having a strip of clear tape on my headlight with a crack. Wanted to charge me well over $500 for this fix. Bunch of scam artists and sweet talkers.

tl;dr - get a second opinion before you agree to any work. I went here for a scheduled inspection on 1/18/22. About a half hour into my inspection I was told that my car looked great but that there was a problem. They stated there was too much rust on my rear rotors which indicated that my brakes were not engaged. I explained that I had only driven the car a handful of times over the past two months and that the rust might be a byproduct of neglect, and that the brakes were replaced just 15k miles ago. We agreed to do a free, brake eval. About 30 minutes later they explained that my rear pads were seized and that it would be $460 to replace with new rotors and pads and receive a pass on my inspection. I declined, they scraped my existing inspection sticker off of my windshield, and I left. On the way home I braked much more than I normally would and scheduled another inspection at a different shop. Two days later, I went to the new shop, explained what I had gone through, and asked for a quote on brake replacement and an inspection. The new shops examination yielded no issues with my brakes, and my car passed inspection to the tune of a $10 re-inspection fee. Im not sure if Midas was trying to pressure me into unnecessary repairs or if my pads had actually been seized and came free in my subsequent heavy braking drive. At any rate, Id suggest getting a second opinion before you agree to any costly from this location, it saved me $450.

My wife went here for an inspection on a 2019 with 30k miles, should have been a simple in and out procedure. One of the technicians tried to tell her that the rear brake rotors and pads were bad and tried to sell $400 worth of service. Luckily she was skeptical of the experience and left with a failed inspection. After consulting an honest mechanics shop we realized that the rotors and pads were fine with almosr 50% life left on the pads and the vehicle passed inspection. After looking at the other reviews it seems like this is a common scam at this location unfortunately, beware.

Went for an oil change and a NYS inspection. An hour later I get a call and they tell me my car needs repairs to the tune of $1400. I go back to get my car and they charge me for an inspection but they say they cant complete it because their computer isnt connecting to the one in my car (obd)? They didnt put a return by Xx..miles sticker for the oil change on the windshield and when I went for a 2nd opinion on the afore mentioned $1400 of repairs the diagnosis was different and the solution way cheaper and at this place they were able to hook up with my cars computer with no issues. Im sure Midas didnt rotate my tires (included in the $75 oil change) because my front rim with a ding in it was in the same spot. It took ten minutes just to pay with a card and get out of there due to the slow computer. The whole experience was bewildering.

Very helpful in and out in one day

When I brought my van here 4/9/20, I was expecting them to be your typical ok rush you in type of people and they were very nice and professional first off, looked at my van and gave me 2 quotes, one being a great deal higher if I needed 2 parts...they came back after working very hard (I could see the mechanic working) and told me I only needed 1 part and then they even did a few extra things free of charge such as straighten out my muffler as if was a little too much to one side and sanded down a few rough spots and I guess a few other things too. I must mention this mechanic as I wanted to go back and thank him personally for all his extra help and his name was Mario and he was so nice and so good at his job. I will definitely be back and thanks you so much to an excellent team and I so lucky to have them so close to where I live.

I had 4 tires mounted and balanced the tires were mounted wrong they had to redo I have grease all over the wheels the tires had the wrong air pressure in them and too top it all off my trick smells like a cigarette not cool

On Saturday during Memorial weekend, we took our car in for an oil change. The manager, Matt was extremely helpful and kind. We were unaware of the hours of operation and the closure of the shop for Sunday and Monday for Memorial Day. Unfortunately, my phone on file was not working and we did not receive the calls made to us by Matt. He called since 1pm. I came into the shop 45 minutes passed closing. His patients with us did not go unnoticed. It has always been a pleasure working with him. Matt alone deserves 5 stars as an employee, and as a friend. Thank you, Matt.

Today I visited the Midas in Glenville on route 50 and I got an oil change and a inspection. I was helped by the assistant manager Brandt. He was awesome. I came with out an appointment and he took care of me right away. He was very friendly and got it done pretty quick. I am usually not for places like Midas or valvoline because I have been screwed over to many times in the past but I was highly impressed with his knowledge on cars and how nice he was. You definitely gained me as a customer. I will be back again with my car and my wife s car for any issues I need fixed. I work in glenville so I will also let everyone know how great of a job he and Midas did. I feel safe bringing my car to him. Thank you!

The staff at this Midas location are wonderful. I always go to Midas for inspections, oil changes, and tires. I actually brought my car to them recently and they discovered a mouse in my brakes!!! My breaks were rough after sitting for about 6 months during the initial outbreak of COVID and I just thought they needed to be used for a bit before getting back to normal. They removed the mouse from my breaks and the rumbling was noticeably better. I would have never found the mouse and I wouldve assumed I needed new breaks. I will continue to go back to this Midas.

Never again!!! This store deserves zero stars. I stopped in this morning for an oil change and Todd is at a new location now. The new manager Matt lies to my face telling me the car required full synthetic ($$$ most expensive) oil. Having worked in the industry for years and also having read my owners manual I knew this was not true. I told him they would not be touching my car because I did not trust them. I will never go back to this store again. People if you work on cars just be honest with your customers. A little extra money now isn t worth the reputation damage and loss of future income. The Scotia location is fabulous. They helped me with my daughters car informing me her tires were balding and why so quickly (other garages did not). They are accommodating and always willing to listen and answer my questions. Great staff!

Made an appointment, brought truck in first thing in the morning, they didnt even look at the truck until 3:30PM. Wasnt able to leave the truck any longer and had to pick it up and use the truck for a full week until I could bring it back in, which allegedly caused caliper to lock up. So they inflated the cost if repair. Started work on vehicle before giving me an estimate.

Rude service

Helpful, honest and fair. They took everything I said into consideration and did excellent work. I felt like a friend and not a cow from which to milk more money. This was my first time here and I will definitely be returning.

As a woman it has been difficult to deal with any kind of mechanic work but I got super lucky to get a hold of Matt! He took his time to explain and answer all my concerns. He would check in on me during during the repairs while I was comfortable in thier cool lobby. (Coffee & Wi-Fi was available) For once I have felt relaxed and not worried that I was being taken advantage of. I will be recommending Midas to my women friends. Big thanks and appreciation to Matt & Brandon! I will be back.

Excellent customer service. Made an appointment for oil change was done before estimated time.

Dont expect making an appointment means that they will have your stuff in stock either. I made an appointment for an oil change days in advance and the first thing they tell me is that they dont have my filter in stock. I ended up waiting two hours while they ordered it. Ridiculous.

These thieves ripped me off on a very expensive brake overhaul. This business is extremely shady, so be forewarned. Because of the screw job, Midas has lost my business forever. Nice one!

Went in for an oil change knowing I may need some service and Todd walked me through my cars needs and made recommendations that were a priority and those that I could wait on until another visit. Brought a set of new rubbers over to be mounted and fitted. Been here a few times over the years and I honestly dreaded coming here. Use to be some shady managers here who would push for the sale and some dude tried to sell me his rims haha. Anyways - Todd, the new manager, is cool and honest. I never had an alignment done to this car and he suggested because of the tires being new it could be a good idea to realign it. I say it that way because he didnt sway or push me into it, he was just informative and nice. Got the realignment with tires and I had a good time being there (not sure how sitting for your car is actually fun ha). Since they are a mile from my house I would like to start going back to them again.

This shop is the best, I showed up late yesterday with no appointment and needed to get my vehicle inspected. The manager wrote me up and took my car right in I was so happy!!!Thank you

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year. I needed to be in Syracuse by 2:00pm that day. I also needed to get my brakes checked out before hitting the highway for Holiday travel. I went to a local competitor who gave me a higher quote and could only guarantee they could get me out by close of business (i.e. 7:00pm). I called the dealer and they gave me an even higher quote. I went to Midas in Glenville and not only did they give me a more competitive quote they also got me out by 11:00am, with plenty of time to get to Syracuse by 2:00pm. Better prices, better service why go somewhere else? Ive since been going back for all my car service needs.
