Fair mechanics are hard to find. Ive been going to this shop for approximately 2yrs. These guys are great, theyve never tried to push services that I didnt need, Ive never felt high balled, ever.

It s unfortunately rare these days to find competent, affordable, and friendly service. Midas on Hoosick Street is all of those, and Mike, the manager, is both knowledgeable and extremely good natured.

Had a unfortunate incident with this tire That I purchased a few months ago at Midas, and for whatever reason, it was not holding air and when it finally gave out the next day, it was a Sunday and they were closed. I had to go to another shop, obviously to get my tire replaced for work, but upon learning about this might ve stood up and did the right thing Made everything good. I would buy from them with confidence and I will return to them for future repairs. I don t believe that it was their fault what happened faulty tire.

Wednesday night I was driving home from work and my brakes failed. The intersection of State St and Brandywine in Schenectady. My car didnt even slow down, I went right through the light. Its a miracle I didnt get hit or hit someone. 3 months ago I paid 1600 dollars for new brakes and rotors at Midas on Hoosick St. Today they told me my brake pad got ejected from one of my wheels and thats why I didnt stop and they werent repsonsible for that, and charged me another 500 to repair my car.

A lot of people bash chains but these guys are solid. Ive never felt like I was being taken advantage of or strong armed into unnecessary repairs.

Fantastic team, quick efficient work, pricing is not too bad either, website had some coupons utilize them.

I scheduled a routine oil change with the sneaking suspicion that i was due for tires and such. Trust your suspicions... My mechanic, Glen, showed me how bad my tires and my breaks were and got them changes quickly for me. He informed me every step of the way and made sure that I was aware of the costs. Then he went out of his way to make sure that I got all available discounts and warranties! Did you know Midas had a roadside service on the tires they sell? Me either but now I have it! Glen and his team was fast, courteous, and informative. Definitely glad I went to them!

Mikes always so helpful. I booked an appointment between 10-12pm today and he called me letting me know they would be a bit behind and asked if I could come at 1130am! Absolutely gave me time to sleep in a little and we were out in an hour! Thanks for all you do Mike!

The staff was pleasant and professional. They quickly changed the oil, checked the car for other issues, and performed the state inspection. It was the first time visiting this location and I was impressed.

Overall great experience. The associates were knowledgable and the waiting area was nice with coffee available. The wait time was about an hour to complete inspection but i was in no hurry and appreciated the short notice appointmemt.

Ripoff, told my girlfriend she needed a part replaced and charged $2k. Went home to a trusted mechanic and said that the part that was replaced was unnecessary and at most would be a $500 job.

Horrible experience. First they didnt honor an appointment I made on line because they said they never got it, blaming the website. Then, on my second try, they said that the tires I ordered were actually $49.99 higher than the price stated on the website, again blaming the website. They said there were actually two options for my car despite me showing them the tire on the website which was exactly what I needed. In addition they tried to sell me on an alignment and centering specific to my car that I also didnt need. Im never going back.

The Midas team at the Hoosick Street store are an excellent crew. They know their trade and will do great work for a fair price. If you like to keep your vehicle in good running order, Mike and his crew will take good care of your ride.

We were on the road with our campervan (on a promaster 3500 chassis) and were having a severe vibrations on hills/under acceleration--of course, it was late on a Friday. These are known to have CV axle issues. The front desk guy was dead-set on it being a transmission issue, even though none of the classic transmission failure signs were present. They proceeded to look at it after convincing them to take a look. Said tires were the issue and did an alignment. To be fair, tires are on their last legs so that is true. Most importantly, however, they said they checked the CV axle which gave me comfort that wasnt the issue. 150 miles later the CV axle blew out on the road and Monro said it should have been clear it was going bad on inspection.

I came into the shop needing my tires mounted and a check engine light looked at. I made an appointment online and of course there was no record of that in their system. They told me the check engine light was a fuel system error and they needed multiple days to look at it so I went home. Later that day they called and quoted me 2,800 dollars for parts and labor on a new fuel pump. The fuel pump module assembly part alone was quoted to be 1,300 dollars. I called a local guy that said he could get the same part for 419. When asked why the part was so expensive the manager gave me the run around and told me thats how much they get it from the warehouse and told me it depends on the trim package you have. They were hoping I was an ignorant car owner but its not hard to Google search. I ended up telling them I just want the tires mounted...nothing else. They waited until it was 5:30 to call and tell me it was finished (I had the car there all day)...when they close at 6:00 and Im 35 minutes away from the store. I shouldve just gone to the local shop in the first place.

Had a great experience with this shop. Techs were helpful and honest. Services was quick , reliable and reasonable.

Went to have my car inspected. Was in and out in 30 mins. Fast and courteous service. Steve at front desk kept me informed and kept things moving.

Changed my oil, and checked everything else too. Great service, but had to wait 20 minutes to be helped at the desk

This has to be one of, if not the best, auto repair shop Ive ever visited. They are fully transparent about pricing, length of time needed for repairs, and everything that goes with it. Theyll bring you back into the garage to physically show you whats going on with your vehicle and explain what needs to happen. I had a surprise brake issue and they were able to get me in same day and what could have been an multi day process took only a couple hours. Staff is very friendly and personable. 10/10 would visit again.

This Midas is my go-to for almost everything. Ive been going to them for about 4-5 years and have yet to be let down by their work. Theyve upgraded their system so you can receive text notifications about your cars condition during its service. The guys there are straight forward and to the point, and very good at what they do. 10/10 recommend these guys

Walking in was a very welcoming feeling I got greeted and they checked me in... I was highly impressed with Joe because I was under the impression since I USED to get my oil changes done at jiffy lube I needed full synthetic oil and JOE went over everything in detail n told me I never needed full synthetic oil for my car. Also I love how fast and efficient they are and the text messaging about your car so nothing is a scam!!!!!!!!!! Definitely MY NEW SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great guys! Always an amazing experience!

I was driving from Ohio to New Hampshire with my wife and 2 small kids. Started hearing strange noise from the brakes and looked for the nearest mechanic. Fortunately, we were right by Midas. They checked it out right away and discovered found the last place to repair the brakes did a sloppy job, leaving some screws way too loose. We were about to enter the hills of Vermont and would have been in trouble if our brakes failed. They not only fixed the problem quickly and had us on our way, they also didnt charge us a cent. I wish I lived in New York so I could bring my car there all the time! I will definitely be looking for a Midas nearby in Ohio.

This location has been my go to choice for car care for more than a decade. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. They do a great job communicating what work needs to be done or just recommendations of what might need to be done down the road.

I was in the process of moving from Maine to Arkansas and my caliper froze up on my tfuck. I call AAA and they found a shop near me. I called to see if they could help and they got me in right away. Fixed everything for me and got our convoy back on the road in an hour and a 1/2, they are an amazing. Life savers.

They fixed my tire Ive been having to put air in for months for FREE, got me in for an oil change when calling the same day too. Got the oil changed, windshield wiper blades replaced and and MY TIRE FIXED!!!!! I can not say enough good about Joe and Mike (the gentleman who did the repairs). It s been nearly 3 years since I started going to this place and people here are customer friendly and their work with cars are spot on .if you get to meet Joe you and your car will return with happy faces for sure.

Easy to make an appointment, then just drop it off and pick it up when you get your text or call! Friendly staff, if you re nice to them they ll treat you the same. If you get an oil change, you can wait and they ll give you an oil change, no push for maintenance you don t need, unless you actually need it. I go here for my oil and basic maintenance because it s the same price of the oil and filter but without the hassle!

The guy at the counter was very nice and accommodating. My husband bought a truck and it needed new tires and we lived almost 2 hours away. He didnt have the tires in stock so he let him leave the truck there until my husbands next day off so we could go pick it up. The tires were expensive though.

I have been going to this Midas location since 2006. When I was a grad student and budget was tight, this was the best place to get affordable and trustworthy service for an old car, they replaced my battery and did other maintainance a few times. When I got back to the region in 2017 and got a better car I mostly get my annual inspection done with them. The service has always been great, I book onlin and Ive never had to wait. In fact, several times Ive come 30 min early and they get to work on my car. Ive even had the chance to have a few conversations with the front desk when they are not too busy. Very friendly and approachable. Ive had a great experience with this team and I recommend them to anyone in the area.

Yesterday I came in with a flat tire 30 mins before closing and the crew patched up the tire for me ready for the next day. Would have to this locations for all my future needs!

So I gotta tell you, I hesitated breaking away from the Dealership to do the maintenance on my Terrain but post COVID if you don t schedule 3 weeks in advance you don t get an appointment. I have been to Midas three times and went here based on a recommendation and reviews. Mike the Store Manager and his staff are great. I have never had someone walk back to the waiting area and ask me to pay top dollar for some needless repair, I can schedule a few days in advance, and they perform the service quickly and accurately with fair pricing. I absolutely will be going back for all my automotive needs.

Stopped by yesterday in a panic because we were in the middle of two-day drive from New Hampshire to Indiana when our AC failed. Normally, not the end of the world but - in a near 100-degree heatwave with our Pug-puppy in the car with us - it was actually a potentially-dangerous situation. Despite a full service-schedule, Mike got our vehicle in for an assessment. Turned out to be one of those tricky things that could - at least for now - correct itself if we simply turned off the vehicle, waited a bit then turned it back on. Mike explained that the next step in correcting it would take a few hours but probably wasn t immediately dire. He could have charged us through the eyeballs - we wouldn t have known any better. Took my car to Midas for a simple inspection. I was told by two employees that I needed a new rack and pinion (which I replaced a year ago) and that the entire rear sub-frame of my car needed to be replaced. Midas gave me a bill for $4400 and said my car would not pass inspection. I then took my car to Firestone downtown who told me my rack and pinion was fine and they passed my car for inspection. I got a bill for $21 dollars. Ill let you draw your own conclusion about how Midas treats their customers.

Have been going here for 8 years but this time I went to get my tires rotated and they refused to do so and tried to sell me new tires instead, also My father went here and was told his engine blew. They quoted him for a brand new engine from the dealership plus labor which came out to 10,000$ even after he told them he wanted a refurbished motor. We went to another place and they quoted us 4200 for a refurbished engine. Place is a joke.

My neighborhood go-to! Convenient, accommodating, welcoming. Mike is terrific, explains everything at point of service, so no surprises as to what is to be provided or needed, costs, and suggestions for future services that will potentially be upcoming. This Midas is my go-to place for work on my car. Theyre friendly and helpful. Car stuff can frequently be uncomfortable for women and I never feel talked down to here or like theyre trying to pull one over on me.

The assistant manager Joe is great, very knowledgeable and knows what you car needs but also knows what your car does not need. He has a lot of experience and he definitely takes the stress out of having to get your car in for maintenance by having fair prices and providing multiple options when available.

Came in to get my brakes fixed, ended up being a much bigger issue than I thought. The manager, Joe, was super understanding and helpful, showed me what was wrong, and helped me with getting funding for these repairs. He was even able to get my car back to me, completely fixed, the next day, a few days before Christmas. I will definitely continue to go here for my car repair needs.

I ve gone to this Midas a few times for oil changes and other fixes. This time I came in for a NYS inspection, and Carlos had my car in and out in less than 15 minutes. Joe is incredibly nice and answered some questions I had about temperature gauges. The staff is always friendly and patient and explains everything.

Happened to pull in here because I had a flat and was completely blown away by their customer service. The guy that works the front, I wish I got his name because he was great. Had them put my spare tire on so I could quickly make it to my childrens doctors appointment down the road on time and fixed my tire while I was gone. I came right back after the appointment and he fixed my tire, free of charge!! I couldnt believe it. Best experience with a garage that Ive ever had. Will definitely be back in the future.

Prices are quite expensive however very friendly and helpful employees, whom actually take care of your car perfectly.

One of the Best oil change experiences ever! They provided a vehicle inspection and Joe was super informative, going over options and recommendations for new tires. They even showed me and explained everything that I needed to know. Definitely would recommend especially if you don t know much about cars and parts!

Dont try for an NY State Inspection here. They find something wrong with your vehical brakes and then hold you hostage for a repair. Never again. Go to some place like Jiffy Lube where the least they try to scam you out of is some filters.

I would just like to say that Joe was great took care of all my needs. The service was extremely fast, And their price for a synthetic oil change, for my tundra, was extremely low compared to most other places. If I can give stars it would 0. This place is a big JOKE. I took my car here for inspection and they failed me just to make money off of me. They claimed my breaks needed fixing and that I needed new tires. Then when I told them I didn t have the money to get new tires and my brakes fixed, they tried to threaten me by taking off my inspection sticker. This place only cares about making MONEY and not about its customers. Please spare yourself of a headache and DO NOT go here ! I went to Valvoline for my inspection and they were a big Help!

If I was to give star s it would be a 0. Do NOT go here for a car inspection. They will fail your inspection so that they can get money out of you. This place makes my blood pressure rise. I will NEVER come back here.

The staff was friendly staff and they got me through my appointment reasonably fast.

I go for just a look through and the second one of them gets in my car to bring it in. He immediately red lines my car and says the floor mat hit it, i tried to mimic that and it was in no way possible for my floor mat to hit my gas and red line. This was also done in park. I have a bmw 335i.

Went in for leak in front tire Mike was very detailed with his explanations on why it could not be repaired and we put 4 new tires on at a great price. Just watching Mike interact with the customers was a pleasure. As a GM it was great to see excellent customer service in practice I highly recommend this Midas location.

Great service and price/value. Made my appointment on line for NYS Inspection andthe $59.99 + oil change, expected my tires to be rotated and have to return after 50 miles for me lug nut tightening. Was pleasantly surprised to be told you have to ok as dk for that now because too many people were unhappy that it was performed. Manager Mike is spot on, told me he would pull the car back in if needed or wanted. Love & trust this place to service my Honda and know I am not a mark or cog in their system. Been with them for over 7 years, would not go anywhere else

cheated on pricing. lied about what work they did. spent more time trying to sell by fear then just fixing the issue. total rip off. a total DO NOT Go HERE Ever! Customer Service could care less..as the jusiness is run to cheat people. Less then 1 star.

They performed in a timely manner. They put 2 tires on and rotated the tires. Clean waiting area & coffee.

Three weeks prior to purchasing 2 tires & windshield wipers, paying $463. Midas promises to cross that bridge when we get to it, for senior citizen discount! I was mishandled. Because, I was expecting a discount few days to my 65th birthday. No discounts no exception after new tires installed!

The wonderful crew here are very informative and honest with what your vehicle will need/ won t need. I have had a great customer service experience here as well.

Stay Away!! Went there for an inspection for a vehicle that was less than 2 years old. Manger said it need just one wiper blade to pass. He said it was causing streaking but it was due to having snow under the blade. They will do anything to get an extra dollar out of you. I ended up having to buy the wiper because they wouldnt pass it without replacing. Another time I took a different vehicle there and they said by law they couldnt replace just two tires, even though the other two were only a year old. Take my advice and save yourself some aggravation.
