The only place I can find someone who is knowledgeable about my 2006 Sprinter

I do not understand why this wont let me give it one star. Maybe that is why it has so many 5 star ratings. Our experience was a nightmare! Took our sprinter in to have a couple of injectors replaced. I came back from a vacation a day early, because that is when they said that they could work on it. Was told two or three days. Ended up being five (plus) weeks. The worst part of it was the dishonesty. They kept saying things like by the end of the week and 95% chance done by Monday and it was still over 10 days past Monday. Almost no communication on their part. Nope, we had to call them to get lied to. Working with them was the worst experience that I have ever had. Husband had to rent a car to make it back to Alabama to be in time for the kids and grandkids to celebrate Fathers Day (and then drive all of the way back to get our vehicle back.) I understand that things can happen, but the way that they handled this was horrendous. The stars that I gave them was from when we first took the van in, they were very nice at that point. I can not seem to change it. They dont deserve any stars for the work that they did for us.

I had an early morning appointment at 7 AM I was really nervous about it at first because obviously I m a girl and I don t like feeling like I m getting ripped off but I swear the owner changed my mind about everything and I m really excited to get my car worked on now Because I know that they are very trustworthy especially about the time frame It will take to get my car looked at and it s nice that they do a full point inspection of every car.

Mike, Brandon and the staff took very good care of me and my vehicle as they often do. Mike takes his time to explain the problem in a very detailed manner. This is my favorite repair shop.

Excellent service. They will tell you what needs to be done and what can wait.

Kevin, the store manager, and Issac were both wonderful to work with from start to finish. I came in here after a horrible experience at the Troy Hyundai dealership (fog light bulb repair) and will not be going anywhere else other than Troy Tuffys. As a young woman, I hate having to go into a mechanic shop. It is almost guaranteed to be an unpleasant experience where I leave feeling insulted and ripped off. This was not the case with the staff at Tuffys at all. I was treated with respect, given transparency with my vehicle, its needs and costs, and was always kept informed on timelines and updates as I waited in shop. Once I found out my electrical issue would potentially be covered under the dealership warranty, Kevin still went above and beyond to give me advice on how to handle the hiccups with the dealership given that my issue was a safety concern and I could be ticketed for having a blinker out. I would not have gone back to the dealership if there was no possibility of it being covered under warranty. ( A girls gotta save money where she can.) For all of my future needs, I will be returning. Tuffys is fair, honest, trustworthy and has earned my business.

My experience with Tuffy Tire and Service center on Maple Road in Troy was very pleasurable. The team is very thoughtful, polite and welcoming. This is my second visit I feel very comfortable and confident leaving my vehicle, knowing that it will be serviced at a high-level. Outstanding Service: I am going to drive up north tomorrow and realized that I was over due for an oil change. I called Tuffy and Kevin Sheridan told me to bring my car in this afternoon. He had a technician waiting and the oil change was performed within 30 minutes. In addition, they found two filters which were very dirty. They had new filters in stock and replaced the old ones in a few minutes. Thank you Tuffy and Kevin Sheridan.

After months of delaying the 60k and 75k Subaru maintenance I finally called in to Tuffys. They were recommended to me by a coworker. Kevin took the time to research all aspects of my questions. Not only did he save me from having to spend thousands of dollars on unnecessary intervention but he did it with grace. This shop genuinely cares about the cars their customers drive. Kevin and his staff inspected our 2007 Civic, which had been neglected for 5 years and not driven for at least 6 months. They quickly assessed the good points and problems with the vehicle. After they finished their repairs, it feels like driving a new car.

Best service ever!

I have had a lot of vehicle work done in this state but have never had a full diagnostic test on my vehicle, free of charge, that allowed me to choose which repair I need done. Kevin, the store manager, was awesome in character and knowledge. A true gentleman that really took time to see that our vehicle was properly repaired. This introductory gesture satisfied my and my wife so much that we want Tuffy to be our personal car repair shop! We are very pleased to know that all the repairs didnt have to be done at the same time, which saves money and helps us know what damages are most important. This particular location in Troy is very desperate for customers! I have a older model vehicle, and and I heard a mechanic or maybe a manager say, money, money, money. I was basically done after hearing this! My vehicle may need repairs, but this location will never cash in on my expense. I would never go back! New management sucks!

Estimate for a simple flex pipe replacement was very over estimated. Was completed 300$ less at a reputable local repair shop. Disappointing since Im a previous customer.

They were great. Checked on my car right away and diagnosed the brake issue and said they could fix that day. I was impressed on their determination to get it done that day. Will come back again to fix our van brakes.

DO NOT GO HERE. If I could give negative I would. I got my ac compressor done in August 2022 and its already died on me. Unfortunately I am barely over my warranty mileage wise. These things are supposed to last most of the life of the car. I take great care of my car and thought I could trust Tuffys, but they have just failed me time and time again. The new mechanic I brought it to said it was properly installed but used a cheap product and I spent $1,100 on it. This is also not the first bad review I have left, but they begged me to take down the last one and fixed their mistake for free to make up for it. (The mistake was they cross threaded my lug nuts and then pretended it wasnt them) *Update 6/17 as Ive been trying to spend two weeks with my new mechanic to repair my ac compressor, they discovered that due to how they poor quality compressor was installed, it shot metal shavings into my condenser, which is almost a $500 fix. Also as you can see in the comments they said they would reach out and they never did. Update 7/3- still no one has reached out. Dont let their fake fronted kindness fool you

What used to be a 5 star business has gone down hill quickly. Ever since John left and new management has taken over the overall quality and integrity of the company has been on a downward trajectory. Dishonesty,overcharging,lack of common sense, poor customer service, and inefficiency; these are all things you can now expect when you visit this Tuffy.

The work itself seems to be pretty good, but dont expect timeliness or organization. Appointment was somehow placed on the wrong day and then there was a 2-hour delay before they even started the job from my appointment time. At no point was anyone really rude, but definitely very nonchalant. Three stars seems fair

Quick, efficient, honest and kind

Not recommended anymore . Worst ever experience after coming to USA . They charged 700 $ to replace one sensor which is costing 15$ and they dint do any great works in services . Opened Barnet and on top view , I have seen that small part got changed . Worst thing is once after their work, my car was not functional . When I asked for the resolution , they are saying it s not small car repair company and our services are highly premium . I called multiple times to reduce the price but they are denied brutally .

Dont go this Troy store. The way they are handling customer is very vey bad especially the guy sitting in the first place. Very worst. I personally went and enquired about the price and then I booked an appointment for the very next day. They are flipping on the price and they are not loyal and they are not customer friendly and that guy was very rude and angry at customers.

Have been taking my truck here for a couple of years and have always trusted John and his staff. But after this last visit I will never go back. The man is a flat out cheat. He charged me 43% more for the parts for my truck than I can buy them RETAIL, and then didn t complete the job and I had to rent a vehicle for three days that cost me $200. John Hicks you are a rip off artist.

John and his crew are honest and produce high quality work.

This place was efficient and friendly. They offer a great warranty and seem fair with pricing.

My first quote was around $1,800. It then went to $2,800, eventually it escalated into a bill of $4,795. I asked for advice and under Mike s expert opinion I was told it was definitely worth it. 3 months later, my car is at Troy Auto Care where it needs a new engine for $7k. I would not trust these jokers to fix a Radio Flyer. John s response was we fixed the upper engine and this is the lower engine, you have a bad bearing (pause) I don t know what to tell you. I told him I was taking it to the dealership because obviously fool me once GO TO TROY AUTO CARE THEY KNOW A LOT MORE !!!

Mechanic stole things from my work vehicle

John was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with my car issues. The reports are detailed and I appreciate the picture of issues. The rest of the team was very helpful and polite to work with.

I have been coming to tuffy for over 7 years. John and his staff feel like my family. I have always been pleased with my repairs until recently. My last 2 visits were not successful. Repairs on my vehicle and my sons car did not solve the problems at all. I have paid over $1000 and ALL the problems still exists. This is very disappointing because this affects our safety and I am worried every time we get into our cars. I am not able to afford $$$ another round of repairs that may not solve the problem.

These guys are SUPER SLOW!!! Had an appointment at 9am my car was there All day and stayed the night next morning sat in the lobby for 2 more hours waiting for them to finish after they said, It would be done first thing in the morning!!! What does that mean? WTH!!! If you want something done quick DON T COME HERE!!! I WILL NOT be back!!!!

Best car mechanics! Been going to John s Tuffy for years now, and they always take good care of me. I can t recommend them enough.

Not happy at all with this place. It took them almost a week to fix my car (fuel pump). The manager (John) was rude and short with me on the phone. As though I was ruining his day by calling about my car. They never called me with updates or anything, I always had to call. They told me a price of what I owed (which was pricey in my opinion) and when I got there, I was told I owed $100 more because they went and fixed another issue without even calling me first! And finally, whoever worked on it, left big grease marks on the inside of my car (as seen in the pictures) above the window, on the driver s seat and cushion. Very unprofessional. If I could, I wouldn t even leave any stars for this rating. I m not happy at all and I ll definitely never come back here. I ll also be telling friends and family to not waste their time and $ here.

This shop used to be amazing, great service, prices and communication. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Ive noticed that since around the beginning of Covid, getting updates on your vehicle is extremely difficult. They no longer call you with updates, you have to hound them. Plenty of times Ive gotten the run-around and pushed back pick up dates without any warning. The final straw for me was when they attempted to sell my car for me (they do have this as an option for clients). They lied to me about when they posted it online, offered next to no updates, I had to call them for updates and lied to me about the messages they received regarding selling my car along with not responding to some messages. I had a coworker send a message with the Craigslist ad they had up and not only did they never respond to her, they told me they had only received low ball offers (which her message was not). I ended up taking my car back and selling it myself.

Had car in for oil change/tire rotation,they called to say 3 lug nuts seized and they replaced them at $5 a pop{they did last tire rotation}..went in to pick up car and could hear a service guy on the phone with a customer sayingOur tech is trying to get the seized lugs off now Coincidence,maybe but enough to lose my trust in them.Do yourself a favor and take it to Bayliss in Clawson,very honest people!

I strongly recommend you NOT go to this place. I only need to change the engine oil but they tried to rotate my tires that my car just did two weeks ago, they damaged few lug nuts and cannot fix them and then just ignore it. I have to take my car to Bell Tire to fix it and they ignore my two legal letters for the reimbursement. I saw your response below. you should receive my two legal letters and receipt. Please reimburse my cost.

Tuffy Troy is a service center I can depend and rely on ANYTIME I have issues with my car. (Ive been a customer for many years) The owner John and staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. *Recently, I had to have my car towed in after working hours. I recieved a call at 8:00 A.M. the next morning with (axle shaft) diagnosis and the car was repaired and ready for pu at 11:40 A.M same day; which also Included an oil change and replacement of a broken hose clamp. I have been going to Tuffy in Troy for several years now. Always up front, never pushy or trying to sell you something you don t need. I had a noise in my front end, to it to the dealer and several others and was told they couldn t find anything. Had my oil changed yesterday and asked if they could check it out. At first they didn t find anything but when pulling it out of the garage they heard the noise, so they put it back up on the hoist and found the problem! I love it when a business goes the extra mile for the customer. I recommend these guys to anyone. Strait up and efficient.

Dear John, Mike & Matt: Thank you for going beyond the call of duty! On 11/16/21, I had a defective tire that was losing air. So I returned to the point of purchase (a Major Tire Company) and was informed that I would not be serviced until December 7, 2021; Yes three (3) weeks!! The bottom line is your repair shop sets the standard for integrity, and service to the customer. Our 2002 Toyota Camry with 419, 841 miles on it thanks to your fine mechanics starts every morning. Had them do a used car inspection. Their inspection found $1,300 in repairs needed; the dealership didnt want to make the repairs so we walked away without purchasing the vehicle. The dealership reduced the price of the vehicle and put it back on the lot.

Excellent Social Distancing Service!!! They came and picked up my car and serviced it, took it through the car wash, and brought it home to me. My car needed a wash bad and I didn t ask them to do it and they did it no charge. It came back looking like a sparkling new car!!! The work they do is top notch. I had no personal knowledge of the crew before I went and they treated me like I was a part of their family or personally recommended by someone and I will take my car to them as long as live in this area. To be threatened by the owner (John) to never come back or Ill have problems and be sorry. Lets start my saying that I have been going to this Tuffy for at least 6 years. I like to fix my own cars to save money but when I can not fix it myself I bring it hear. When I first started to go here they were running a promotion that was for lifetime oil changes. I thought awesome how could I pass that up. I payed the full amount due for the lifetime oil changes and had ok service. It would typically take a hour to a hour and a half for them to complete the job. Fast forward to today 6 yrs later. Yesterday I went in there for a oil change like usual. They completed it and then when the owner John went to give me the keys he told me that we were all done with this. I asked John what he meant by that. John said that I would not be receiving anymore oil changes. I told John that I bought the lifetime of oil changes. John said that he didnt care that he would be breaking that contract and didnt want to see me again in his establishment and continued to threaten me by saying not to come back or there would be problems and I would be sorry if I tryed to take him to court over this issue. He also did this with one of his service write up guys sitting right next to him. John was saying that I was playing a game with him and that he was fed up with me because he wasnt making any money off of me. This is not ok and I hope people see this to know the real owner of this Tuffy (John)

They dont pull any punches, they get the job done when needed, reasonably priced, have had lots of work down there. You cant beat their oil lube and tire rotation for only twenty bucks and they also give your vehicle a safety check, John and crew will go the extra mile to make sure your satisfied with their services and most of all they stand behind their work, they didnt try to weasel out of or throw disclaimers at you when a problem with a covered service or faulty part was bad, they made it right!

Ive been bringing my car needs to Johns Tuffy for almost 15 years for many reasons, but the over-riding one is they do great, reliable work for a fair price. The people are nice, and thats a definite plus, but my own experiences as well as those of several people I have referred there, have always been excellent. Ill keep on going back!!

Terrible place to get your car fixed.... PLEASE DONT GO HERE! This was the worst experience I have ever had with a auto mobile company. First, they had my vehicle for a month claiming they were locating the issue. Which costed me a world wind of unexpected money. I had to rent vehicles every week that cost $200 a week so there was much urgency within the issue. SECOND, they charged me $775 for a COIL PACK & tow for 14 minute drive. Initially they misdiagnosed the vehicle and attempted to charge me for a $700 part. So I went the cheaper route and had it shipped from Ohio for $400. THEY NEVER NEEDED THIS PART AND THE VEHICLE WAS DOING THE SAME THING I BROUGHT IT IN. (so more wasted money) It was the most bizarre experience ever. When I would call to check on the vehicle to see where they are with locating the issue it was ALWAYS something... Either the technician was out on vacation, dentist appointment, doctors appointment, just had teeth pulled, basically anything they would tell us. I informed them that I need the car as soon as possible many times, and I know things take time but it seems as though they had absolutely no urgency at all. After the misdiagnose, they began to look for other areas to correct the issue which took another 2 weeks. They claimed they would work with the price however they even added things to that. John literally argued my husband down and stated hes charging so much because they had to find the problem. However DIAGNOSE IS FREE and finding the problem is there job. I thought customers pay for labor and work being done? But because he had to try different things, that was a extra charge. So that just shows me there lack of knowledge in regards of this. Basically as young people, we got scammed. Payed $775 for a simple coil pack and was without my vehicle for over a month. The experience was literally the worst experience ever, from the time frame to the final cost and I wish I would have just towed it else where after the misdiagnose and wasting money with that, but John ensured my husband that he would be able to correct it and would work with the price. I knew it wouldnt end well though. I have told all my friends and family, and my job which is a huge company that by any means necessary DONT GO HERE or you will be in a financial bind after being scammed. I had to post this, because anyone that can avoid this place, SHOULD avoid it. I dont want them to keep scamming people.

Honest advice, quality work

Used to bring my car to John and Chuck back in the late 2000s before I left the area. I just recommended them to a relative recently and decided to write a review. They were just moving in next door to there bigger shop when I left. They always treated me fairly. Do their best to get you in if In a pinch. Prices were very reasonable. They give it to you straight, tell you whats wrong and give you options for what needs to be addressed and what you can leave alone.

I have been going to Tuffy in Lansing for a while now but moved to the area recently. This place was amazing and quoted me $200 cheaper than a competitor. Their work was fast and excellent quality. Really professional and personable employees. Great place!

I have been reaching out to Tuffy,Troy for all the concerns I have with my Truckfor almost for 2 years and counting. The staff is been very helfull, gets you a better understanding of the issue and the fixing process and prepare you and your vehicle to feel good. Also, watch out for their discounted price for regular maintaince services. Highly recommend!

This Tuffy gets things wrong and does damage to your car in the process. This summer Tuffy diagnosed a check engine light in my Nissan, telling me it needed a $1,000+ repair (new throttle body). I was skeptical, so I took it to a dealership instead, and they found the air box was broken. Tuffy had changed the filter a few months before and snapped off a clip. This Tuffy hid their mistake, would not admit to it, and refused to even apologize. Their computer records and my receipts show that they did the air filter work too. John the Tuffy owner was offensive when I asked for reimbursement for the broken air box lid. Nissan repaired the problem for $200 out the door, but Johns Tuffy was asking more than $1000. Dont believe the four-star reviews about this location.

Unfortunately, I was foolish to take my Lexus RX350 to Tuffy for replacement of front brakes/pad...due to the improper repair of front brakes, it cost me over 500 dollars to correct the problem . Lesson learned; never again

This guys gave me the worse experince ever had, took my truck to get doors fix and got it back even worse and a $750 bill, now they want more money to do it right. Will never used them again, do not recommend using them.

John is the service person very polite very informative I think John tried to save me some money he may have save me a little money theyre pretty good we use them for our service vehicles I think they do good work. Im used to doing a lot of work myself I Ive got an old and I work 45 hours a week got to let somebody do the work now I really cant afford it so expensive now but they do good work. Used to doing my own stuff and saving money

Great workers

We had the buggy towed from brand X because of an extremely high price. I wont name the competitor but it rhymes with Hell Fire. Jim could not have been more supportive of me being remote helping my student driver who was about to get rooked. Professional affordable and flexible. Wish I lived closer they would get all my business.

I would recommend John and his staff for my future auto service needs. They are extremely honest and very knowledgeable is regard to a wide variety of manufactures both domestic / foreign (mine was a Volkswagen) and the maintenance and problems. I recently moved back to MI and will trust Tuffy Troy with all my service needs. They have also taken care of my 76 yr old mother and deceased father for many many years.

Thank you John, Chuck, and crew. I was filling up my tires 2 or 3xs a week in sub zero weather because of leakage. After taking my car in and they brushed and cleaned all of my aluminum rims, I havent had any problems after 2 weeks. This is why I travel 50 minutes for their services. Ive been going to them for 8 years now and happy with their services.

John, Chuck, and Mike are always professional and exceptionally courteous. They perform any service with lightning speed and results are very satisfactory. Give them a call the next time your vehicle needs service!
