Great, friendly service. About a 45 minute wait time. Truck driver was in Troy, I was almost at the twin bridges headed north. He loaded my car up quickly and got me where I needed to be and unloaded even quicker. Definitely recommend
Really smart and competent mechanic. I wish I could give them more stars!! Really helpful with wonderful attitudes.
The fellow running this place is truly ugly inside. If you're not a paying customer, but happen to be someone making a delivery to him, he treats you as if you're literally trash. Always and again. Several of us from the same auto parts supplier. Always another story!
This place is a SCAM! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! BEWARE! They towed over 30 cars in Troy outside the Farmer's Mkt-NO SIGNS. They put a sign up after lot was FULL. Nasty, swore at people telling them to F'off. Told people if they argued or showed photos of lot having no signs posted they would not give them their cars. Person who owns this company should be ashamed of scamming people! They charged $350 CASH - no CC because they had no power LIES!
After towing my car in what felt like a scam, a woman at the tow yard tried to force me to pay cash for the release of my vehicle. My experience with Phil's Automotive felt very shady and dishonest; I would not recommend their services.
!!!WARNING!!! If you need a tow service in Troy, do not call Phil’s automotive. I got an accident during a snowing day and the police called them to tow my car. When I tried to get my car out from their place the next day, they charged me $1,058 and told me I could only pay in cash. How come a tow service can cost $1,058 and even asked you to pay in cash? The woman who talked with me was extremely rude and churlish. She kept saying that they used two trucks to get my sedan out of the embankment. How is that possible as my car was only 30 feet away from the road. I gave her the money eventually since I did not want to get charged another $80/day for storage fee. BE CAREFUL!!!
Very professional . I Highly recommend them. These people have all the modern tools that a dealership would have to get the job done properly. And they have the long-term experience. Experience is the best tool you could have. Trust me. These guys know what they’re doing. I wouldn’t look no farther.
My brake warning lights came on with a rear grinding sound 6 miles from Phil’s Auto. I told him my granddaughter was with me and I felt unsafe driving the car and he immediately asked how old she was; later he said if she was an infant he was going to ask his wife to pick us up until he could get a tow truck there. That’s when I knew I was talking with a really good, trustworthy human. He’s also a great mechanic who towed and repaired the car and got us on the road again quickly. I felt so fortunate that my car trouble happened near Phil’s Auto. If I lived closer I’d take all my car business to him. Thank you so much!
Car towed $279 to pick up, & they only take cash. WTH
Called for a tow on a Sunday night. To my amazement the driver showed up in 10 minutes & towed it to my mechanics garage. Fast, professional, and affordable service. Highly recommend!
Very good at his business and knows his business well knowledge of cars and knows his stuff and he s he s fair he s a he s reasonable very fair on his price
Hard working man, best customer service! One star reviews make no sense!
Quite possibly one of the most unprofessional places Ive ever been involved with. I wouldnt let them work on my cars, if they were the last mechanics on the planet. Someone in the desert, never seen a car & riding camels could do a better job.
Phils towed my sons car at 9pm on a Friday night. They were there in minutes after I called. The price was definitely reasonable and the staff helpful and friendly.
My car had broken down, I called Phils for a tow, the woman who answered the phone and the gentleman who came to pick up my car was very polite, kind and very customer oriented. I was told the truck would be at my location within 39 minutes and they were right on time. I will only use Phils for a tow from now on.
This is the place Troy Police usually tows your car to.
Great service
I would give 0 stars if possible. Everyone had horrible attitudes. The guy moving my car out of the lot had a horrible attitude and took almost two hours to get my car out and spent most of the time sitting in his truck on his phone. He took two hours and only moved two cars when there was at least 5 in front of my car. I would rather have someone just drag my car rather than have them tow it. Worst experience I ve ever had. I had a good experience in the past because they helped me change my tire but whoever this new guy is should not have a job.
My car was at Phils auto in Troy for a month, brought it in for a transmission cable, according to a phone conversation with the owner. He never ordered the part or touched the car. So after numerous conversations, he lied about ordering the part and checking to see if this is the issue. I had AAA remove the car. When we removed the car he had a nasty attitude and also backed another customers car into another customers car, so we could tow my car out. I would not recommend him for towing or automotive work. Very unprofessional and just an out and out lier. If you are to busy, just say Im sorry I cant get to it. You dont string people along for a month. Being my own business owner. I cant believe the poor service an attitude. He costed me thousands of dollars in lost work by only having 1 Vehicle tied up so long. I hope this review helps people before they experience what I have. New update, it wasnt the shifter cable like suggested. I found the problem in 10 minutes and replaced the part myself in an hour.
Phil came to tow my suv. has had it wanted me to front paying front paying for the parts before he does the work. decided against it and have tried to contact but no answer. I went by the shop and my suv is not in the same state at it was - appears he parted it out!
I got in an accident and the younger tow truck driver towed my vehicle it was locked up n he said it was open when he got there so the troy police must of been the people who stole my tools then right? I DOUBT IT!!!!!!
I have a large box truck that I use for delivering bread. I call him up a week in advance to schedule my maintenance, brake work, tire replacement, inspections, etc. he knows I need my truck to work and only have one day off a week and he takes care of me. I keep going back because he s honest. He s found me great deals on tires. Not once has he tried to up-sell me on some maintenance service. And after working as a service writer for 8 years I appreciate straight forward service. If you want some overly friendly guy who s never gotten his hands dirty, they re a dime a dozen and they will sell you nonsense your own car manufacturer doesn t recommend. But if you want a real mechanic to actually help you then head up and talk to Phil.
The worst towing company ever!!!!!
Got thrown off the road in snow at 10 pm . Called for help to tow us. The truck came fast in 20 min.
The guy I talked to on the phone was a tool; not professional and a piss poor attitude. Customer service skills were non existent; whoever was working the phone in early May should not be near one. Not sure what these great reviews are about, with people like this working there, I will never bring my car here for auto repair.
Would give zero stars if possible. Whoever picks up the phone has a terrible attitude and can t even figure out how much your tow will cost. I got 3 different prices in less than 5 minutes. Received a horrendous attitude every time I called. Was told I would have a driver at the yard in about 30 minutes, sat outside the yard for over an hour just to get more attitude when calling to ask if anybody was coming. I highly recommend going to literally anywhere else. I d rather push my car home than deal with Phil s again.
I used Phil s to tow my car when I broke down in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday night. He was quick and professional with the hookup and drop off. The roadside assistance provider originally contacted another tow service that never even showed up. I would definitely use Phil s for repairs or towing.
Just moved to the area and needed an oil change among other things. I brought it to Phil and he started working on it immediately, finished in under an hour, and absolutely hooked me up on the price. Ive never had such a pleasant experience with a mechanic. Have already recommended him to friends and will definitely be back for any work I need. First and only mechanic I will be going to in the area!
Can t tell you how much Phil and his employees saved me from more turmoil . Towed my car and fixed it within two hours and for a great price . Couldn t thank them enough. Call them if you re in need . You will not regret it
I had the best experience with Phils Automotive. We hit a pothole and bent the rim beyond repair at 4:30 on a holiday Monday. I had my two kids in the car and was 500 miles from home. I lucked out that Phils was the closest/highest rated shop just down the road. He did everything in his power to fix the rim and even went as far and finding someone to weld the rim so I did not need to buy a new one. We got stranded in Troy overnight and Phils wife drove me and my kids to the hotel down the street and picked us up the next day. Phil was able to repair the rim in the morning and have us on the road by 11 am all for a very reasonable rate. I felt like he treated us like he would want someone to treat his family. I can not recommend Phils Automotive more highly.
Super quick oil change and very nice! Will totally go back for next oil change. Thank you!
Great service, great rates, awesome work and time competed. Would 100% recommend
As far as getting your car towed goes, theyre not the worst
Great service from Phil, he had us back on the road that day. Had car issues while traveling through the state and after explaining the situation to Phil he drove us to the local diner while we waited a few hours to get the car fixed. He didnt charge us near what he could have, excpecially knowing we were traveling, and picked us up when the car was ready. Great service!
Generous owner gave my husband the same discounted Groupon oil change price simply because I was a regular customer. Their waiting area is chilly so bring a sweatshirt for the very short wait time, as they do work fast. The parking area is hilly and small/cramped so be aware. The shop location isnt great being outside of town on a high speed section of road but the service more than makes up for it. Owner also is generous with free no pressure auto repair advice. FYI: The bathroom is small and not handicap accessible.
Nice guy, showed up quickly, normal price, got us where we needed to go.
Good at what he does. Always available
Fair prices for work done
Got the job done friendly staff
If i could give 0 stars i would. Called for a tow, was told the driver would be there in 30-45, was given a cell number to get ahold of the driver. Texted the number saying if he had any questions to let me know, because as his stand-offish voicemail said i prefer text to voicemail. 2 hours later, no one was answering at the office and the driver still has not responded after 2 or 3 texts. Finally text saying Ive contacted another company and get a response I told Phil i was in Saratoga working on a truck. Told them not to bother, i had contacted another company after waiting on the side of the road for 2 hours. Most unprofessional thing i have experienced in a long time. **I am editing my review to add that, upon reading my review, the company took it upon themselves the harass me over my personal cell phone by calling multiple times; and when i hung up the first time and ignored the call the second time, they blew my phone up with texts attempting to make ammends. I told them my review was staying, that what happened was unprofessional and asked them to stop contacting me, claiming that i would call the authorities if they continued to harrass me. They then texted back saying that atleast they were being professional trying to make things right. I would hardly call that professional. I told them I was going to ask them one last time to stop contacting me and they finally stopped. I am honestly in awe over the whole situation.
Lowest form of human . Steals car from city street . Can t describe the mentality of Phil , as if you looked in your fridge for something outdated and moldy, it would serve humanity better than this outfit. Stay very clear of this establishment.
Great guy, reasonable, honest and trustworthy. Never had a better experience with a repair shop. Thank you very much Phil.
When I left work today I realize something was hanging underneath my car. When I called Phils I expected to get the same response I had gotten from other shops as it was after 5 PM. They were all closed or about to close and I would not be able to receive assistance until the following day. To my pleasant surprise when I called Phil s someone answered the phone and said that although they were already closed they would wait despite the fact that I was 20 minutes away from their shop. What exceptional service!! When I got there Josh quickly assisted me and had me out within 15 minutes. This level of service is almost unheard of in today s time I am truly grateful for the gentlemen who stayed behind and helped me make sure that everything was OK with my car. I recently moved to New York and you can bet that I will go to Phils for all of my cars needs. Thanks again Josh, you re the best!
Phil was very nice, he didnt charge me half of what firestone wanted to fix my vehicle. I tried to pay him extra he would not accept it. Thank you Phil. Would highley recommend.
Terrible service. Charged us $330 to fix a small problem with the car but he never fixed it at all. He broke a part putting it in the car, and just left the part in there broken with a missing screw. Ended up having to pay extra money to replace parts and get it fixed elsewhere. Terrible !
I was driving back to New Hampshire and my Jeep overheated. Got a tow to Phils and Ive never experienced better service from an auto place. As a woman its very nerve racking to be in a situation like this but all the guys there took very good care of me. Almost like I was family. My dad was a mechanic and the price was right on with what he thought it would be to fix the damages. With the service I was given I didnt really care what the price was. It was fast, friendly service and I highly recommend coming here for any repairs or when you need a tow.
This place is a disgrace. I called to ask something for my brother. And the guy hung up the phone on me. Very rude and unprofessional!!!!!
This place has great good service and very fast very reasonable prices love it. They definitely go out of there way to help customers
My Girlfriend was in a auto accident. She was taken to Albany Med, what was left of her car was taken to Phils. Im very thankful that she is still alive. Phils would not allow anyone to get her belongings out of the car but her. I think its wonderful that Phils makes a woman who was in a accident be the ONLY one to get her belongings. It truly made me sick to have to watch her relive a accident by seeing the condition of the car and point out where each and every bruise on her body came from.
My parents went off the road into a ditch during a snowstorm, they are in their late 70s, I called Phil and he pulled them out of the ditch, all within 25 min. Thank you Phil
I was traveling on business from out of state. Had to have truck and trailer towed in. They treated my wife and I like family. Sal taxied us to a restaurant for lunch. Did great job on repair then handed me a bill that was more than fair. They could have given us the from out of town specialbut was very honest and professional. I highly recommend them.
I had an outstanding experience this past summer. Traveling from out of town through Troy, I blew a brake line on Rt. 7, Saturday Afternoon on Labor day weekend. No other shops were open, then I contacted Phil. We left the vehicle with keys at a restaurant, caught a ride to VT with family and Phil towed the truck to his shop and had the repair plus extra rusty lines repaired and ready for us on labor for our return trip. Hard to find service this anymore, greatly saved the weekend.
I agree with majority of the customer.. Phil had my car for 3 weeks. I had it tow because it was overheating and no heat. So since I work about 45 mins. I figure since he going to fix that problem, I wanted him to look over the car to see what else needs to be replace.. BULL.. I called and called, no answer. then on the 2nd week when I had to get a ride to go to him, he like he said he will call me today around noon..still no call.. then I left voice messages, still no call. I had to physical go see him and he said the same thing I call you. BULL.. So last friday my boyfriend went to get a car because according to Phil it was done.. he charged way to much. I was so disgusted, I just wanted to leave. So today I had to drive to HVCC,, its a 15-20 mins drive..OMG MY CAR OVERHEATED THE HEAT STOP WORKING...So I bought it to another mechanic , he fix it in 3 hours, very friendly, even took it on a test run for 30 mins, came back. I WAS BEYOND PISS... My advice for you, if you need a simple car inspection or oil change, then go to Phil..anything else do not go, because your car will be sitting there for over a week or more. He will not call you or answer your call. I am shock his business is still running. I am a paying customer, why do I have to stalk you, show up to your job on a weekly basic for you to do your job.
My car broke down on Hoosick Rd and my insurance towed the car to Phils as it was the closest shop. The place is sketchy, and when I dropped off the car, they only asked for my first name and phone number. I dropped my car off on Tuesday, and did not hear anything from the mechanic, so I called and left a message on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, I got a ride to the shop and asked when my car would be looked at. The mechanic said around noon. On Thursday night, I called again and the mechanic said he was looking now. On Friday, I still heard nothing, so I went to the shop and the mechanic told me that he didnt finish looking yet, but that he thought it had no spark. I did not believe this b/c the car was still in the same parking spot and I checked the spark plugs myself before turning in the car. I asked for the keys back, took it to another mechanic and sure enough, it was the fuel filter. The mechanic had my car for 4 days, clearly never looked at it, and never contacted me. If you take your car here, he will not ever contact you. The only way I got ahold of him was physically going into the shop. And even then, he failed to even diagnose my cars problem in 4 days.
Two weeks after my check engine light and rough idling issue was dealt with by phils automotive, the check engine light and rough idling returns. The fault on the vehicle was claimed to be an oxygen sensor by phils automotive. I went to autozone when the issue returned, they diagnosed it, and it turned out the cylinder was misfiring. Did phils automotive really replace a sensor? I dont know, all I know is Im not going back. Was this re-occurrence a coincidence? Maybe. Now for the customer service, well there wasnt any. He never picks up his phone, and when he does he has this miserable toned voice and it makes it very unpleasant to speak with him, he wasnt professional by any means. This wasnt a primary vehicle so they also felt that we wouldnt want it back within a 2 months? Thats right. It took this guy 2 months to do what he did, and WE had to constantly call him to ask what was going on. Just because the vehicle isnt on the registered for use doesnt mean we dont want it fixed as soon as possible. Just terrible, how is this place still in business if they are doing this to others?
