Though you never want to need transmission work - if you do go to Jewett’s. Recently needed work on my daughter’s Subaru. The dealership wanted $11,0000. Cost me $1700 at Ken’s and had it back in a day. Also fixed a Honda Pilot transmission for me a number of years ago. Great guys, great place.

This transmission shop is hands down the best ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ transmission shop in the Capitol District. Communication was easy and courteous. The correct parts were located and ordered efficiently-- despite shortages. The work was unbelievably completed in one day!! The repair was successful and the transmission runs smoothly now. The price I was quoted was both fair and *actually* what I was charged. There were no surprises, upsells or upcharges. The owner is honest and super to work with. I really can't say enough good things about this transmission shop and I will certainly use them again should the need arise. Edit: Ken even followed up after the repair to see how I was doing and how the car was running. Who does that??!?! Someone who is very confident with the caliber of their work and cares about their customer satisfaction. Thank you so much (again).
My first gear shifter is popping out, I called the shop and discussed what the smartest thing to do is. He is backed up on work apparently so I didn’t get any work done but he did tell me what my best option would be according to my symptom and helped me out even when it wouldn’t necessarily mean business. I respect people who are respectful. Appreciate it

The owner Ken is awesome. He lets you know what's wrong, without d@#$ing around and waisting your time and his. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to all types of transmissions. Prices are reasonable. Fast service. Dropped my vehicle off on Friday, he's closed on weekends and Monday afternoon it was done and ready. So far so good.
Ken had his hands full with my Nissan Titan rear differential. Hard to find parts and finding more problems as he went along. Kept me informed every step. All in all built my rearend MUCH stronger than stock. I am very very pleased with the outcome and more importantly impressed on the honest man he is. Thank you Ken and sorry this truck was a challenge. Will recommend him to everyone except someone with a Titan lol. THANK YOU

I went to see if they could help me out with my transmission, but they were so overbooked that they could not see me for 6-8 weeks! I had to go elsewhere. They were very kind, but very busy.

Called to ask a few questions about what I should do regarding my transmission problems (like replace the whole thing or just rebuild a couple parts.) Instead of answering my question, they responded with You have a 27 year old car and you want to know what to do? And just laughed at me. Its only a 19 year old car and I was just trying to figure out what to do... Not very professional, wouldnt recommend.
They worked thier magic on my crown Victoria tyranny rebuilt it . A year later no leaks squeaks rattles or issues. Definitely a professional job!!

I have had a TH400 in my RV for over 5 years that Ken rebuilt for me. It outlasted the engine that was in it and proudly delivers solid shifts EVERY time behind my 444lb-ft engine.

If I could leave a negative star review I would. Originally I sent my truck in for a fully rebuilt and upgraded transmission got it back. Not even 8 months later I ended up sending it back because it broke the input shaft well here I am again with a busted transmission not even four years later but this time I actually sent it out to a builder that deals with Diesel trucks that are making power so far Ive learned through this builder that the trans cooler jewwit was supposed to install didnt happen, the extra clutch packs that were supposed to be used when upgrading the transmission didnt happen and the transmission most likely wasnt fully gone through when it wasrebuilt so 4300 down the drain and lesson learned now Im ending up dropping 4500 to have it done right

When I spoke on the phone to someone, they were perfectly friendly. However, when I went into the office and two young-ish men were behind the counter. They were having a personal conversation, but I said hello, expecting theyd be done in a moment. The two looked at me, and then continued their conversation without saying Hello or Be right with you. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes, and the two continued to ignore me. I got so frustrated with their inattention that I left. I wont be returning.
When you show up young lady and Im finishing conversation with a customer who DID have an appointment and I tell you I will be with you in a moment; have the respect to wait 3 minutes without stomping out and writing a false review. The gentleman just had his Cummins diesel rebuilt and spent $3500. He has a right to ask questions. Thank You.

Ken Jewett is an extremely knowledgeable transmission technically . He is a great Christians man who is fair and he does do other mechanical work and even a bit of farming. He has shown his welding abilities with designing his own plow for tilling the soil. He also loves to play the guitar. He is awesome Father to his children whom he teaches by example and being well versed in the Bible. I myself have had a couple cars to Ken and have sent family members to his shop. I am very pleased with his knowledge and abilities.
I ended up on Kens lot with an old Sable (spitting black smoke and buckin like a bronco )years ago on the recommendation of a NAPA parts guy. After spending $90...leaving a Ford dealership a lttle richer and scratching their heads I was desperate. Ken could not have been more accommodating. He listened to me, checked the Reg, opened the hood and called for his helper. 20 minutes later he apologetically informed me that he thought he had an old part he was sure I needed but couldnt find one...would I mind if HE WENT to the local parts store to get the right one?? Wow! Thirty minutes and $30 later I was happily on the road with a taste of Christian charity or just good old downhome neighborlyness.

My clutch felt loose and sticky so i brought it down the road to capitol mechanics and they said i needed a clutch kit and also recommended a tune up and new timing belt. just for the clutch they quoted me 1500 and also wanted to charge me 80 just to look at it!! so I brought it down the road to kens and he said my clutch was fine and that it was just cold outside. He gave his honest opinion and turned away business to stay honest. Very grateful to have saved myself the 1500
