Had some minor transmission issues and had a few people reccommend to have my car worked on at this garage because I'm very picky with who I let work on my car. I can say these are trust worthy, honest mechanics who know their stuff and won't try to sell you anything you don't need.
Highly recommended. They have a very busy garage and try to get you in ASAP.. They diagnosed the issue with my Jeep and explained the options. Fair pricing. Thanks again, Jeff!
All other mechanics I trust in the area recommend this spot - I actually never did get an appointment here, I'm just leaving a review because despite being fully booked for weeks out, the owner (?) called me back and left a voice message explaining what was probably wrong with my vehicle based on the information I gave, and offered to chat or look at my truck if I had time to discuss options. It may not sound like much but it was really nice to receive a message back that was this thoughtful from a place that is known for being super busy.
I pulled in here Friday night with a flat tire. The place was closed but the man was still there warming up his car. He helped me change the tire which would have been much more difficult without the lighted space and his jack and other tools. He was wonderfully friendly and seemed willing to stick around as long as it would take. There are still good people.
Great guys, helped my family and I with an issue we had with our car. Within a few minutes they were able to diagnose the problem, give a temporary fix (we stopped at 4pm on a Friday, not expecting a complete fix) and we were able to finish the rest of our trip and safely make it home. I didnt catch their names, but they were awesome. Thank you!
Great experience working with Kinderhook transmission. Car was not able to move any longer. Had to be flat bedded to shop. Shop did a full diagnosis. Found that transmission lines were rusted out. Worked out a testing solution. Found that putting new lines in would most likely solve problem. That was done I'm now driving my Saab 97X. Working as well as I could expect! Also did an oil change while it was there and checked all the fluids in other aspects of the transmission. Very pleased with their service!
We're new to the area, and even though my father was a top notch mechanic and car collector he got to the point where it was just too hard for him to do all of his own repairs. Before he passed away he brought one of his trucks to Jeff to get some work done on the transmission, and Jeff did a great job. My father left me a bunch of his toys, and when I broke down on the side of rte 4, the first person I called was Jeff. Not only did he repair the truck, he went through and made sure to check and repair everything that was going to give me a hard time in the future. He does quality work at a very reasonable price, and from now on, this will be the only shop I take any of my dad's toy's to...
These gentleman are the most honest people I have ever met. Their work is top of the line, finest quality and truthful about repair. I have worked as a mechanic since 1972 and men like this are few and far between.. Mostly far between. Thank you for what you do and do it so well.
Excellent service and communication. Highly recommend.
Almost 5yrs ago I had transmission issue with my xterra..I was told I needed a new Transmission for a zillion dollars..Jeff was recommended...he recommended a few things instead..he was honest and said..may last 6mos or 6 yrs....well its been this long..I recently moved to sc ..the engine light went on..it was a transmission code..I was quoted 500$ by one shop..4thousand by another..I left Jeff a message..I needed to know what to do..he called me back and explained it all.and made suggestions what to do....he is the most honest and good guy on the planet!!
Outstanding quality of workmanship.

Great guys that go great work
Very helpful.
EXCELLENT people! WONDERFUL experience with the owner and employees! I highly recommend anyone to go here for engine/transmission repair! A++++ place!
They were very kind. They re honest and very friendly. They re also very knowledgeable.
Jeff was great! He asked questions and actually listened to me when I spoke about the problems I was having with my vehicle. He even called me after I had my vehicle back to tell me about another problem I was having that he had previously suggested I have someone else look at, to let me know what we needed to do to fix it! It was a quick fix for my cooling system! Obviously they deal mostly with transmissions so they didnt notice the problem until the same vehicle came in their shop the next day. He then called me immediately to let us know what he found! Now my Jeep is running better than it ever had since I bought it off of the crooked dealer
I cannot thank Jeff Sr. and Jeff Jr. enough because they saved our familys weekend! We have am 86 G30 cutaway rv and we were in Schodack when it wouldnt shift out of first gear. As we slowly limped back towards our home we stopped by numerous garages asking for help and no one would even take a moment to help. When we pulled into Kinderhook transmission they came right outside and started giving suggestions on what could be wrong. They narrowed it down to 3 possibilities when we got to the third one that was the problem and they had the part we needed right at their shop, which was a gear that went into the side of our transmission. We thought for sure we wouldnt make it up to Lake George and Jeff Sr. said we have it no problem. Jeff Sr. even climbed under our rv to put the new part in for us to make sure it lined up correctly. I couldnt be any more grateful for these two men. Thank you again for saving our weekend vacation and not just saying sorry we dont have time like everyone else did.
I cant say enough good things about this shop. Hes definitely an honest business man and hes so helpful and quick about returning calls and getting to the root of the problem.
