Overpriced and understaffed, which is par for the course for small hardware stores, but they will sell you hardware from a mislabeled bin and then refuse to accept a return. They've gotten their last dollar from me
I love this group of old fashioned hardware stores. They are close to my home and have such helpful employees. The selection is great and the gift department is fantastic. Plants are great in the spring. All around asset to our community.

I have been shopping at this store for roughly 20 years. Today I was told that to shop in the store I had to leave my purse behind the counter or bring it back to my car. My purse. Should be left unattended by me. Behind the counter. The woman who gave this direction told me quote “your bag is too big to shop in our store”. So because I need to know what “too big” is, I measured my purse when I got home. It is exactly 12” wide, 11” high. Then just to be thorough, I googled what is the average size purse and the answer is 17.5 by 23.5 for a shoulder bag, which is what I was carrying. So my below average sized purse was too big to carry in their store. This is singling women out and excluding them from being welcome in your store. No backpacks? I get it. But a purse, which the majority of American women carry, is no longer allowed? I’m speechless. What’s funny is nothing is said to men that walk around in that store with their butt crack showing, which is public indecency and should be addressed. I for one am offended every time I see it. But by all means, ban purses.
People were very helpful had problem with new chainsaw never used it returned for warranty kept for three weeks charged me 55.00 dollars said gas was bad they put gas in to test I never added. Was in because chain bound still binds up and hard to start.called Stihl Customer service they referred me to other dealer to do warranty work only buy from authorized Stihl dealer who do warranty
I had brought an ego product in before to be looked at that was prepaid by ego without any issues with this store. I had another problem with an ego tool and again had a prepaid slip from ego to check the tool to see if it was covered under warranty. When I went to drop off the tool, the employee tried charging me a diagnostic fee which hasn’t ever happened prior. I declined. I called Ego support and they even said that if the product was deemed to not be covered under warranty then that fee would be taken after it was looked at and not at the time of drop off. I tried explaining it to the manager as well and he was not helpful either. One employee went to the lengths to say that the service employee will purposely hold onto a tool for two weeks and not service it if the fee is not paid. I’ve had great experiences at this store before, but it sucks to have that tarnished. Update after their response: I don’t understand you and you’re going against what ego said themselves. Call their dealer line.
On Saturday afternoon, I bought two large screws with nuts. I mentioned to man at register (manager there at the time, tall thin guy 40-50 years old) that I wasnt sure it was the right size. He told me that they don't usually return those, but that if I brought it back, he would let me do an exchange. It was, in fact, too large and I went back Monday morning with receipt to exchange it. A different manager was there not only told me no, but was quite rude to me about it. It was such a minor issue to lose customers over. Go elsewhere.

Great hardware store
Stopped in to refill propane tanks. The staff here are always very nice & helpful.
I checked their online inventory for the product I needed, and it said they had it in stock, but when I went to the store, I couldnt find it. So I found an attendant to help me, and he also couldnt find it. Then he explained that they owned 2 stores and the inventory was merged together on their website, so more than likely, it was at the other store. Confusing and misleading to say the least.

Picked up plumbing supply and picture hangers, staff very helpful when I had to return hooks for different size.
Bad! Brought Uintah a screen for repair...sent out to their other store...they lost the screen...three months later they made me a screen....it is flimsy. It bends and bo clips to hold in place...sent back out and waiting for return....they are suppose to redo. I am so upset and lost the whole summer without my door screen! Now fall is approaching ......

They play fast and loose with prices on things (that hasnt changed). Prices below items are often missing or not correct and Every time the register rings up a price more than the tag said it was, they have an excuse. Today I gave up and left my items on their counter and went elsewhere to buy them.
Staff is firendly, willing to assist without being pushy or over the top. As a woman, I dont feel belittled for asking questions, unlike the big box stores... cough HD cough... Store has a great selection of items, so I dont have to travel all the way into Latham or Clifton Park to get what I need for my projects. In-store pickup is also an option here.

I bought 60 large garbage bags, very sturdy, good price. Friendly,service. Large variety of product. Good size parking lot convenient location next to McDonalds and stewarts

Dang I like this place and boy have they improved the establishment. I go here over home depot every chance I get. Staff is friendly and helpful. Store is clean and organized. They have an excellent selection of spray paint.
The new Hatchet Hardware is a well stocked store with helpful and friendly staff. A big improvement over the previous A. Philips store. Recommended.
Usually this place has everything Im looking for. Not today unfortunately. Still havent gotten their shipment of kerosene. Unfortunately Im gonna have to go to a place like home depot. I always try to avoid it when I can and shop local but cant this time.
Nicky is always courteous, incredibly knowledgeable and really pays attention to the details. I highly recommend this outfit to everyone.

It is now ace hardwear and no one know what they are doing told me i had to order my water hose that they dont carry them so i walked around the store and sure enuf there was my lines i was looking instock and there was 7 of them come on shut it down

We bought a faucet from here earlier this evening and when my husband tried to screw the water hose on the pipe connected to the faucet twisted like it was made of wax. Weve replaced lord knows how many faucets over the years and Ive never seen anything like it. We sent our son to get a refund and he incorrectly told them it was like that when we opened it, which is his mistake, but they told him there was nothing they could do, even though I would certainly hope what we received was a faulty unit. Thats their prerogative, and I understand its probably a pain to deal with the manufacturer for them but when youre a smaller hardware store I would think an emphasis should be placed on customer service. We went to Wal Mart and bought essentially the same faucet for $30 less and didnt have any issues. Its great to have a little local place when you need something quick or inexpensive, but if youre expecting to spend more than $50 I would certainly recommend driving the extra 10 minutes to Home Depot. At least then if you have to return something it wont be an odyssey.
Great local hardware store. Ill miss Henrys, but the expansion will be great when its time to repaint the interior.

i visited the store about 10 minutes before they closed on Saturday February 15 so i wanted to be quick not to to hold up the staff from closings. the young man behind the counter was friendly and helped me find everything i needed. several months ago before they expanded the store i was there cheking out and the gentlemen in front of me was given a veterans discount. at that point i didnt know ace did that so being a veteran i asked also. and have taken advantage of it several times. Saturday i was told they could not give the veterans discount. because their computers where not connected to ace and the store margins where to low to offer it. the ace web site says location may vary. so i guess it was nice while it lasted. i dont know how other vets feel but when a business offers a vet discount and not just on veterans holidays it makes me feel like my service means something to someone that the sacrifices of my brothers and sister is appreciated. i support and frequent alot of business with or without a discount and if a business doesnt offer any discount that is fine. i normally wouldnt make a review. i guess this time i wanted to. it was the way they made me feel when i was leaving the man not give the discount talking about the stores low margins said that because the computers where not connected to ace. this store wouldnt get any thing from corporate for giving me a 10% discount. so i guess with low margins and no reimbursement..they cant give something because there not getting anything
Not very good service. They didnt know much about the products I was buying and they didnt honor a ticketed price. If I pick out something and tag says one thing and Rings up something different not my fault.
I needed to replace bolts, though they didnt have the exact match they had the solution. The employees go above and beyond the call of duty. Exceeded expectations!
Still very much a local hardware store. Excellent service. The types of things you wont find at the big box store. Unfortunately more expensive than those but not really by very much.

Ive been going to Phillips Hardware since they opened at least 10 years ago the manager there her name is Tammy very nice girl very knowledgeable about all the products that they have in the store and the help are very good I meant help tremendously they may not have everything like the big box stores but they are a home town hardware store sometimes thats better than anywhere else
Very nice place to shop
Received a bad copy of a key. The teeth were fine, but the key will not fit in the lock to be able to even turn it. This only cost $2.66 so Im not going to return it, but want others to be aware. The guy ahead of me was also having problems and the woman working the counter insisted it was his locks. Nope. Its your equipment or the key copier doesnt know what theyre doing. I came here years back and had a copy made with no problems so 3 stars it is.

This is *the* local hardware shop, and its got a great staff of knowledgeable, helpful folks. They have a decent selection of tools and items, and chances are good youll find what you need without having to truck over to a big box shop. They do screen and small engine repair, and even have a good selection of craft sodas. Its one of 4 local branches, so theyve got some depth to the stock, and can call one of the other stores if this branch is missing what you need and youve got time.
Poor customer service at the counter. Be sure to keep your receipt someplace safe. They do not give store credit or accept returns without a receipt. Good place in an emergency, not so good for a home repair project. Would like to support local business, too bad.
